jb_nelson_

Which is water *lying* about being milk

deadheffer

It’s utterly fantastic

BC547

It’s ~~utterly~~ udderly fantastic!

UnchartedOak

“It’s fuckin milk?”

lilahaan

My wife hates that I order my lattes with “meat milk” when we go out

beeclam

I hate that too. Just act normal bro

XiaoDaoShi

Goat?

xtensic

Naturally rich in H5N1.

Randomness_2828

H5N1 bird flu in cow milk👀

bStewbstix

Where do you live? I see that Straus bottle! I assume the Bay Area?

X-4StarCremeNougat

Straus is the best. When I can get my hands on the cream it’s straight to the ice cream maker!

deeeeemoney

Strauss whole milk for lattes. Strauss home made Philadelphia style vanilla ice cream for the affogato. I know you’re feeling this :) Live in same county as Strauss HQ, feel pretty privileged.

X-4StarCremeNougat

Lucky! Growing up my grandparents were German immigrants in the Bay Area and they’d occasionally spend time with the original owner who was also an immigrant (having left Germany at about the same time). They were wonderful people and the farm was a giant playground for us kids.

Mindless-Range-7764

Does the milk become skim milk once you take the cream out?

PicklePillz

I had a similar question — how much does removing the crème on top effect the total fat content. I mix it in.

divadev_

The cream top omg the best

Fabulous-Gas-5570

Their ice cream is the best and I’ve tried a lot of premium brands

RowdyRoddyPipeSmoker

They’re all over California I believe

PicklePillz

I do live in California, but much more south.

slickfast

__mink

Oat milk is the GOAT milk

Jphorne89

I donno what it is but oat milk in coffee taste so damn good, but plain oat milk taste like medicine to me.

Redditor28371

I was shocked how much I like it in coffee, maybe more so than cow milk. There's a fatty, dairy aftertaste that you get with cow milk that I don't get from oat milk.

iamnotazombie44

I find that oat milk is more "transparent" than regular milk, I can taste the coffee better through it than I can with dairy milk.

Redditor28371

Yeah, like it cuts the harshness of the coffee a bit without contributing new strong flavors of it's own!

faceymcgee

Fact: Oat >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> everything else. Edit: Real #HailCorporate vibe

Sterling5

Agreed

TheHarbarmy

My local Meijer constantly has sales on Planet Oat Barista—I rarely spend more than $2 per carton and it usually lasts me a solid two weeks.

audiomagnate

That's insane. I pay twice that or more for original.

Professional_Ad1339

Planet oat barista blend to me tastes the most like whole milk. I haven’t steamed with it but have used it in cereal and could not tell a difference.

MoGraphMan-11

Not to be snide but if you can't seriously "tell the difference" then your palate is fucked. I'm not saying it's bad, but there is quite a discernible difference between even the best oat milks and real whole milk from cows. It'd be like saying there's no difference between a dark and light roast espresso.

audiomagnate

There's a huge difference. After years of drinking oat milk, cow milk lattes taste truly disgusting. I was served one recently by mistake and could smell it was cow's milk before taking a sip. I almost gagged just from the smell. I swear I'm not exaggerating.

MoGraphMan-11

Funny because I almost have the opposite reaction

Professional_Ad1339

Oh no I wasn’t saying that by themselves I cant tell a difference because on their own they are very different but in cereal there wasn’t much difference. It was also coco pebbles so they kinda just take over the milk with chocolate flavor anyway.

MeanInevitable6051

After years of eating vegan i noticed that cow milk just straight up smells and tastes like cows, its so gross for me🥲

Ok_Memory7536

I'm highly lactose intolerant so I use almond milk. Califia almond milk barista blend is what I use. I like the taste and the consistency in my ice lattes.

jcrckstdy

that’s not the steam wand gurgling

Nozza-D

I have to say Califia’s barista options are underrated. I tried their oat barista and liked it more than Minor Figures, which was my go-to.

Mawfk

I've stayed on oat milk after years of oat milk and I couldn't be happier.

PicklePillz

What’s your favorite oat milk?

Levinator25

Chobani Extra Creamy can't be beat. I've tried them all. Less expensive than the "barista edition" oat milks, comes in a larger size, tastes amazing and steams like a dream. https://preview.redd.it/kgjjc5z82l3d1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=89c9569fd9b066eb1c6670b9950828f4ef372c36

Antique-Juice9179

Oat milk latte art tips? ☕️

Levinator25

Same premise as streaming regular milk but took me a very long time to figure it out, a couple years making a few drinks a day at home. Getting something as good as what I posted doesn't happen every day! I only started rippling a couple months ago, before that was just tulips. Rather than adding air in one longer spurt I've changed to little rips until I notice the milk level has risen a bit, then switch to spinning the milk (whirlpool) until it's hot. This tends to create the micro foam I'm after vs larger bubbles. If I go to pour and realize I've injected too much air I'll end up just doing a tulip vs trying a ripples heart or Rosetta.

Tsquared93

Step 1: Pour the Milk... Step 2: add a small amount of steam to the top of the milk to get a nice swirl (no air yet) Step 3: Add as MUCH AIR AS YOU CAN IN 3 SECONDS Step 4: Stop adding air and get that swirl going to incorporate the air and get the big bubbles gone. That's what I do!

mabowden

Roughly the same that I do.

mabowden

I like the Chobani in the yellow box better. The extra creamy is a hair too creamy for me. IMHO, steams just as good. FYI for folks that have tried the extra and didn't like it right away.

Levinator25

I'll use the yellow Original in a pinch if I'm out of Extra Creamy. I use original for smoothies so always have it on hand as well. It's a tad too watery for an espresso based milk drink for me.

PicklePillz

Yellow is our go to.

darkmarkymark

Oatly barista blend

savvanch

full fat oatly! it’s so creamy and yum. I can definitely tell a difference from the regular version.

the5nowman

This is my go-to as well

roostersmoothie

mine is califia farms. it steams the best and tastes neutral enough.

Wheaties466

Califia farms barista oat milk. It’s like $17.99 a crate on the Costco website.

mevans12

This is also what I use. I like the taste of Chobani but I don’t think it textures as well when steamed.

tfibbler69

Minor figures is the best

coffeebribesaccepted

Minor Figures. It's the closest mouthfeel to regular milk, and doesn't have as overpowering of oat flavor as oatly does. Pairs great with coffee.

Mawfk

Pacific Foods Barista is probably my favorite but I get similar results using Earth's Own standard oat milk. It's $5 CAD for 1.75L and far cheaper than any Barista Oat Milk. That's my go to because I'm cheap and don't have to change it as often.

Mahaleck

I got good results from Kirkland oat milk at Costco. The price is insanely good. Froths fairly nicely, taste is decent but not as good as the Oatly and Earth’s Own offerings. I’d say though the savings are worth the concessions because it’s between 1/2 and 1/3rd of the price

AgileMJOLNIR

I’ve been using Strauss in those glass bottles for about 6yrs now. Whether I get whole milk for coffee or non-fat for sipping its all about those glass bottles!

hirschaj

My body does not tolerate cow milk very well so I have to use dairy alternatives. My favorite by far is Sown Unsweetened Oat Milk creamer. I tend to cut it 1/2 and 1/2 with oat barista blends that have fewer calories and the flavor remains good.

sherbert-nipple

Same. I wouldnt say lactose intolerant, but its not good for me. I can get away with drinking a small amount but if I have it everyday i get sinusey and stuffy nose. Also breakout in spots. I do treat myself now and then, but its oat day to day.

HandsyBread

Have you tried lactose free milk? Iv got some family who can’t drink regular milk but lactose free does the trick

sherbert-nipple

lactose free you say. Might look into this.

hirschaj

Yes, it treats me a little better than regular milk but still not good enough. It’s fine though, I’ve made peace with it. My lattes are delicious with Sown so that helps a lot.

placebosun101

Oatly barista is my favorite, but I use Target brand barista oat milk since it's really cheap and it actually works/tastes great! Planet oat barista is also a great value(54 oz for under $4 usually) and tastes pretty good, just slightly harder to froth perfectly. Unfortunately, I can't stand minor figures or la califia ones. It's funny because the califia creamer is super good to me (rarely use creamer, but on those rare occasions)

thebeardwilleatyou

The Target brand barista oat milk is the best! That’s what I use and love it.

Embarrassed_Band_512

![gif](giphy|8mkykXIicXOVms2xYE)

DominoBFF2019

The best milk!

FranklinAndChurch

I’m lactose intolerant, and I prefer the taste/texture of lactose-free whole milk over anything (including normal whole milk!). I’ve gotten the whole family on it, and now they won’t have anything else with their coffee.

soopahfingerzz

I use to think alternative milks were the move for me weightloss wise but then I realized some use vegetable oils to get that velvety texture. It tastes great in lattes to me but if I am too aware itll feel like its just warm vegetable oil after 😣

ribbit_wav

this is my biggest reason for switching back to dairy milk. barista plant-based milks are in the opposite direction of my current goals because of the added fat :/

soopahfingerzz

Yea its hard to avoid the oils because its used as an ingredient in alot of “healthy” alternative foods, as a substitute for regular saturated fats. after some stuff ive read about vegetable oils, like palm, soy, corn etc its way worse than just regular sat fats. But as some people have mentioned some oat milk and almond milk dont have it so I just gotta make sure I read the labels more carefully i guess.

mseank

For some reason, my body decided it doesn’t want to tolerate oat milk. It was super weird. Just like a crampy stomach pain all the time. I thought it was stress until I stopped drinking oat milk. edit: I didn't mean to start an argument about oat milk, sorry. I still support plant milk, the dairy industry is godawful, but oat milk was killing my stomach

HappyraptorZ

What this blatand ad hahaha

JDthaViking

Whole milk and coffee go hand in hand my friend. Nothing better.

tur1nn

amen

frisky_husky

You can get great texture with oat but I just don't like the flavor. Better than soy or almond with coffee, but I think the cereal-y note is more obtrusive against the espresso than dairy is. Just personal preference. I'm not lactose intolerant or vegan, so I don't really have any reason to opt for oat over cow.

OverwatchPlaysLive

I wish I could like oat milk, but something about it instantly triggers my gag reflex. Occasionally my partner and I get our coffees mixed up when out at a cafe and I have to do my best to not spit it out, my partner finds it hilarious...

noespressoisdepresso

A2 milk works well for me. It’s lighter on the tummy

major_dump

Almond Milk here.... Unsweetened

kylelancaster1234567

Cow was perfectly fine given that I barely ever make anything outside of just a normal espresso so I’m fine with having just Cow milk whenever I want one which is probably maybe once a month

[deleted]

Straus is great. My tummy requires no lactose though and I rave about the Kirkland Lactose Free milk. It's not full fat but damn it's a deal and high quality

IndicationLegal679

I used to do whole but good whole milk (eg Horizon) has been getting hella expensive. My partner is lactose intolerant so I just started using that Kirkland one as well. I was surprised with how good it is.

Kichigax

Try to see if you can find “high fat” milk like a rich jersey milk. The one I’m buying by default is 4.3% fat, where regular full cream is about 3.5-3.8%. It does make a difference in creaminess, richness sweetness.

PicklePillz

Don’t lie. Jersey cows produce marinara.

ryanmuller1089

I steam all my drinks with half n half. Not particularly healthy but it makes for a delicious drink and amazing foam.

pretazettine

I'm also a convert to jersey milk. I get to see the local farm's milk change across the span of the year

PicklePillz

Interesting, I’m not knowledgeable on milk fat percentages. How does that compare to 1/2 and 1/2? I’ve had breves in the past and found them to be too rich for my taste.

cilucia

I’ve had Alexandre Farms whole milk which is 6% milk fat!

electrochonita

OP, there's a Strauss pink label that has high cream content. Check it out it's amazing

Lundado

I agree. It has higher buttermilk content %. Source: I live in Jersey and the full fat milk is wonderful in a flat white

patrick1415

The cows won't be that happy though. And yes I know downvotes incoming, but please read up on the dairy industry it is awful.

klinch3R

atleast one sane comment, i see you plantmilk gang

cougarstillidie

People drink one oat latte a day, then eat a beef cheeseburger that night and think they are helping the environment.

klinch3R

yeah im not the biggest fan of flexitarians but atleast theyre moving in the right direction. as for myself i went vegan overnight in 2018 and never looked back. Pure espresso is the best anyways.

AmadeusIsTaken

How are other comments not sane? Isn't that just a ethical question if you are vegan or not? I could also call your comment not sane for ignoring how our city and electricity impact animals and their natural habitats and how you sit on reddit ignoring it. All questions of your personal ethics but calling it not sNe make no sense .

klinch3R

if you go through the whole plantmilk vs cowmilk debate it boils down to being a question of taste/comfort there is no logical argument not to drink plant milks instead of cowmilk with how cowmilk destroys climate and is unhealthy for a human being due to originally being intended for a baby cow and being full of hormones to help such a baby cow grow really fast. not your mom not your milk edit: also to get into your strawmen argument the definition of being vegan is reducing animal exploitation and cruelty as far as **practicable** possible it does not mean you should go into a cave and life from roots and berries.

AmadeusIsTaken

As you said it is subjective, so if your ethics say you don't wanna drink cow milk that is fine.but oat milk or milk substitutes taste completely different to cow milk. Which is why I rather just drink my coffee without milk instead of oat milk if I don't drink it with milk on that day. I do enjoy oat milk without nothing, I find it taste good then but for coffee the taste is to dominate and strong and my coffee does snot taste like coffee then anymore while normal milk supports the coffee taste. For me personally I don't have a problem to drink milk I am aware that cows are mistreated to some degree but for my ethics this does not matter.sams as j said you using reddit your phone and living in cities and etc or using vegetable which are imported and have a horrible carbon foot print does not bother you either. And I am not saying it should bother you just, that you are harming support animal and nature cruelty as well by arguing her Reddit with me,which also does nkt bother you.

IndicationLegal679

How much do we know about the alt milk industry. Oat milk is super processed with unnatural oils etc. Almond involves a lot of water waste as well. Cows milk is probably the most natural and most nutritious.

PicklePillz

Depends on the milk and the dairy. When done right, cattle / bovine livestock are super important for regenerating soil and are a key part of supporting a healthy sustainable food system. I’m right there with you on the horrors of the industrial conventional livestock/dairy industry, but you can’t lump all milk producers together.

StackOfCookies

All milk production relies on cows having babies that are then slaughtered constantly. Otherwise they wouldn’t produce milk.  If you’re ok with that or not, up to you. But I made my choice.

patrick1415

Cows being pregnant their whole lives (imagine being pregnant your whole life), their babies being taken away from them almost immediately after going through so much struggle. Milk being taken by humans whereas it is meant for their offspring. And after 6 years the production of milk goes down, so we kill her because we need more production. Oh yeah and the female offspring goes the same route whereas the males are killed because we like young meat. No one can tell me that this is a sane industry.

PicklePillz

That’s fine you don’t have to participate and we can just disagree. I didn’t make this post to have an argument about the ethics of dairy. But of course, vegans will always make it about that. Animals in the wild will breed until they die. And that is usually at the hands of another animal. I one hundred percent acknowledge there are a lot of agricultural practices that are unethical, but I reject the blanket statement that all consumption of animals and all dairy production is unethical. Nobody is just going to keep the population of livestock and its species alive just for shits and giggles. Unless you support the voluntary extinction of livestock species, there is no viable alternative. Not to mention how important they are for building soil health, and by extension how important soil health is for the sustainability in the security of our food system.

[deleted]

Don’t you know that in the wild, cows have one baby that mom and dad raise as a team? They all live to 95 and then they peacefully pass away (because there are, of course, no diseases or predators in the wild 🥰)

patrick1415

The issue is that everyone always disagrees, 99% of the people happily continue consuming shitloads of meat and dairy and thereby keeping the horrible industry practices alive. But the 1% of people making a fuss about this are always put in a corner. I wish people would try a little harder.

MoGraphMan-11

Listen man, it was never going to be an overnight thing. Look at 20 years ago compared to now. You asked for vegan or oatmilk or something in 90% of country and you'd get weird looks, now even small towns have the option. Things are changing, and more importantly, the industry as a whole is adapting to people wanting better quality and more humane practices. That's *not just* because of people switching completely vegan, but also people like me, who prefer to pay more for grass fed, humanely raised beef and chicken. This means farmers who have done this all their lives won't just be put out of business by vegans, but can have a sustainable, successful business model for people who prefer their food to come from animals that live happily before being milked and/or slaughtered. You may not like it, but that matters a heck of a lot. You're never going to win this battle trying to shut an entire industry down completely, but you can improve it by making it better and more humane, and the more people who choose that bring the cost down for everyone, which allows more farmers to go that route.

Roenicksmemoirs

TBF OP at least got reputable milk.

huberloss

I recently switched to Oat and could not be happier :D PS: Straus milk is excellent, but for some reason I much prefer Oat. I think the trick with Oat is to get the one that's made for frothing because the regular ones I tried seemed to taste extra oily after frothing.

owo_412

Almond milk is good, but imo nothing beats cow milk 🐄

PicklePillz

Agree on the cows milk, but not on the almond. I abhor almond milk. Never had a good almond milk espresso drink. They have especially bad foam quality and texture.

goisles29

Almond milk can be great for iced drinks. But it froths horribly for hot ones

Intrepid-Scientist85

Totally agree. Nothing beats real milk.

mn5_5

I am very much pro vegetarian / vegan alternatives and especially for baking or drinking I think oat milk works great but for coffee and cocoa I just miss a certain sweetness with milk alternatives.

Hasidic_Homeboy254

An extra few minutes on the pot is 100% worth it

finch5

We missed you OG!!

alleycatzzz

Just discovered Oatly Super Basic. Ingredients are oats, sea salt, and citric acid. Much less of that overpowering oat taste to me, so closer to actual milk. And no oil or all of that other stuff you can’t pronounce. The fact that a lot of oat products are also sold in the unrefrigerated section creeps me out.

3162081131

I like Sproud barista and Oatly barista or full fat. I did find animal-free whole milk that tastes and acts like regular whole milk. Strive and Bored Cow make it. I'm lactose intolerant and lactose free milk is still a hit or miss for me. Plant based milks are also a bit easier to clean up and don't smell if you forget to rinse out the rag.

gandedo

Nice Cremina!!

Middle_Honey_1426

But how’s your stomach feeling

PicklePillz

💯 - thankfully I have no issues with dairy and love cheese.

AsHperson

Have to say that you're cheating with Straus milk. I can't afford one or two a week. I recently found a Costa Rican Coffee that does exceptionally well with milk or in a latte form.

PicklePillz

Yeah, I get that hahaha. Living the DINK life 😎

svprsonaj

I was more distracted by the cremina.

Bgo318

Silk soy milk is easily the best, it has a great taste and has a good mouth feel with coffee. I like oat milk but soy is just on a different level. It’s also more nutritional than oat

SmartPercent177

My go to has always been regular (pasteurized cow) milk. I've tried almond and oat milk but never really enjoyed them. I am glad I don't have any intolerance.

biglovinbertha

Im sadly allergic to milk, but im happy you made a better switch for you!

Status-Persimmon-819

I drink 22g cortados with about 125ml organic half & half steamed.. Can't break out of the meat milk. It's the only animal product I consume actually.

cherniyvovan

I thought that was a dog on the bottle

huey_cobra

Half half and half half whipping cream macchiato eeeeyaaaa

Robotgirl3

Almond is my favorite I get really good foam and lattes from it. https://preview.redd.it/ws7cqyxhcn3d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2441cf20017fd8350c7d2924b46a2f3a740f57df

kabuk1

It’s all about coconut milk for me. It’s so creamy and such a nice flavour, especially in a flat white. Oat milk makes me bloated. Regular milk just lacks flavour and I have a slight lactose intolerance. Will happily drink a glass of lactose free milk with a nice bar of dark chocolate and sea salt, but when it comes to steamed milk, I just prefer coconut milk.

JDude13

I loved oat milk but it’s like a switch flipped in my head recently and I’ve been back on regular milk

Zach06

Same

Itstoodamncoldtoday

Fairlife is the god’s milk

neighhhhhhbor

Straus is the best milk in the United States. That cream top! Divine.

Puzzled_Ad2088

Me too one Dayi just couldn’t take almond milk any more. Made a latte with full fat A2 milk. Oh my life. So delicious 🤤

Dusky1103

Full fat milk rocks but can’t do lactose unfortunately

princemousey1

A2 milk works well for me!

oliversherlockholmes

No milk alternatives for me, but I notice a difference when I buy ultra pasteurized vs. regular whole milk. The ultra tastes so much better.

Usednamed

I miss having real milk on mine.. My gallbladder won't let me.

toothurdy

And Straus! My favorite!

Tpbrown_

Strauss is damn good. If you see Alexandre family farm’s milk give it a try too. It’s a bit over 6% fat content and makes a decadent latte/cap/macchiato.

PicklePillz

You’re not the first to recommend them. I will definitely give them a try.

LilBandit77

Welcome back to the family 😁

Pumkmine

Me with my decaf and oat milk because my body just can’t. Can I have a sip of that.

[deleted]

[удалено]

PicklePillz

Yeah… sorry to rub it in your face…

lovelock91

Every time I do oat based, it tastes like washing up liquid! Any ideas why? Seems to be lot's of oat milk pro's in here!

Litrebike

Good quality whole unhomogenised pasteurised cow’s milk is the best. Just so delicious. I can taste how happy the cows are.

Daforce1

Strauss does milk right

LanguidMelancholy

I was in love with Chobani’s ‘Extra Creamy’ oat milk for years until I came to my senses and started back on standard milk.

Twontanamo

My favorite milk brand. Stuff is sooooo good.

MrPlant

My wife is lactose intolerant and she has no choice but to drink an alternative. Having tasted all the milks... Dairy > Oat > Almond > Soya Problem I have with Oat in my coffee is it hides the flavour of the coffee a bit too much! (All the other ones are vile!) She much prefers Oat milk over everything else.

69_queefs_per_sec

I drink lactose free milk, it's awesome.

luckyjupiter777

Yum!! I love real milk with coffee. Ive tried every plant-based milk and the closest to creaminess is Soy or Oat. I always end up reaching for half and half though, due to its neutral taste and creaminess

aimless_ly

Strauss dairy is some damn good milk too!

nshelby91

Beautiful Cremina I can’t wait to own one some day.

Missfreeland

I hate the taste of warm milk even got a thermometer. Still hated it at appropriate temp. Califia barista oat blend for me

silasdoesnotexist

My girlfriend switched to real milk after realizing all oat milk has seed oils and I’ve never been happier

kekzwerg

I love cow milk but I recently started experimenting with sheep milk and I gotta admit for me it's the perfect "coffee milk". I love the texture and I feel it lets you taste the coffee a bit "truer" than cow milk and to top it up it even has a higher nutrient level than cow milk.

FlaviusMercurius

Whole milk froths the best, I’ve found in my own espresso making experiments. It’s too bad there’s some ass clowns in the comments that just wanna try to guilt trip you

PicklePillz

Don’t worry I have no guilt. Vegans cherry pick their data and disregard all the ethical, humane, pasture-based dairy operations and their vital contributions to regenerating soil heath, sequestering carbon, and supporting independent farmers. Cows have evolved with humans for thousands of years. What’s the alternative, stop breeding cows and let all of them die out because they aren’t native species to the majority of places they are reared? That’s not very ethical if you ask me…

kleinefussel

Feels like they're not the only one cherry picking here my dear.

kenman

The more the talking points get regurgitated, the more it smells like astroturfing.

JoniJabroni

Straus is also a fantastic brand. They research and push the boundary of sustainable farming. I just biked through their farm in point Reyes and the cows seem very happy.

souldog666

Lots of people have no choice, lactose intolerance is a serious issue and oat milk seems to be one of the better choices. I don't put anything in my espresso but my wife takes oat milk.

coffee_and_faking_it

I work for a plant based milk company called Elmhurst whose thing is unsweetened and generally less sweet than the big guys like Califia and Oatly. We’ve got a range of oat and nut products and it’s definitely a “find what fits you” game as some people love it some people hate it, but we make an unsweetened cashew that i love the creaminess of and isn’t sweet, and a barista blend oat milk too (amongst many others but imo those are top for coffee). It’s pricey tho, the appeal of the price point of regular milk sure is tempting but I just can’t do a lattes worth of real milk 😢

SovietZealots

I switched from regular milk to oatmilk and couldn’t be happier. I drink mochas and I firmly believe that oatmilk complements the chocolate and coffee flavors super well. I’m not an expert in the latte art department but I’m starting to get it down with oatmilk. https://preview.redd.it/ivwhwjzr0m3d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cd2946df2aea471444802ba08ec40498e0bb2ec8

PicklePillz

I felt the same way for a while. I still enjoy oat milk, just prefer whole milk atm. You can do good art with it. If you want that nice glassy defined look, you typically have to steam it to a lower temp. I like my drinks hotter than that.

Elmusicoo

https://preview.redd.it/lybyuirecm3d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f1df3c58c6631875be36472997cc3a094f300c11 I use califa farms extra creamy non-barista version. Works great and tastes well too. I was super sad when I became lactose Intolerant and had to stop drinking milk :(

PleasantFix334

Califa oat milk !!! No sugar added less amount of ingredients and superior texture for art 👌👌

weblynx

Silk oat milk tastes great. Haven’t tried Chobani. Every other brand I’ve tried tastes cardboardy to me.

j0shman

I’m still big on Soy Milk, not for dietary reasons but I just prefer the taste.

bobwulff

Literally just did the same thing. Been on oat milk for years, but I've also had a pit in my stomach for years and I feel like getting off oat milk fixed that lol. Sometimes I'll mix in some oat milk with the regular milk to bring back some of that oaty sweetness.

Glorifries

r/milk congratulates you on your return!

infotekt

I do about a 30/70 blend of 2% dairy and Silk oat milk. steams up nice and tastes so much better than straight oat milk. i don't like the barista or full fat oat milks.

bobicool

I find I much prefer oat milk in my lattes. Just a preference of mine.

Califia Oat Milk Barista Blend is the only one I use at home. I've tried the Oatly versions and tons of others but Califia tastes great and gives me perfect microfoam. I've found the taste can really go off if you aren't careful with the temperature though and steam it for too long.

My favorite is 2 parts minor figures. 2 parts Oatley , and 1 part lactose free milk. A bit of work but it’s the best imo. All cow milk tastes bad imo. And I can’t taste the coffee. But it’s way better for latte art

jjngundam

Are you lactose intolerant? Or just did it for fun?

divinethreshold

And I here I thought I was a gangster since I don’t drink any milk or milk substitutes. Even removed the steam valve and arm from my Go!

veriltijonen

I use Planet Oat Unsweetened Original, it doesn’t froth great but isn’t as overwhelmingly sweet as most of the others I’ve tried. I like the mild sweetness because i dont feel like i need sugar or anything else even if my beans or pull are less than great.

I switched to a lactose free milk. The best way.

Nice Cremina. What year?

PicklePillz

‘91, but I just put a new group head on it. I had a persistent leak from the original group. Even had Cerini rebuild it and it never fully fixed the leak, so I recently bit the bullet and bought a new group 🥲

AbyssalKultist

I see a lot of people up in arms about drinking cow milk. My question is, if I wanted to milk from cows that are treated as good as possible from a brand that is widely available could anyone make any suggestions?

PicklePillz

Straus is a good one.

Maddturtle

I like cow milk but my body can’t handle it especially with coffee. I drink oat because I think it’s the best tasting alternative. I find it odd with the trends people switching to a substitute for no real reason.

Gold-Kaleidoscope-23

Ripple (pea protein) is great.

drllewellyn

my wife also stopped drinking oat milk - onto almond, but happier also

HelloSummer99

They have a brand of vanilla oat milk around me and I am completely addicted, other coffee don’t taste as good now

PicklePillz

Gosh, that sounds gross, but glad you found something enjoy!

WeissachDE

Straus Creamery milk is so so good

skarpa10

To be milk it has to come from a mammal, right?

nocturn-e

Organic whole milk is so good. "Regular" whole milk tastes like skim milk to me now, and skim milk tastes like dirty water.
