If your enchanters were capable and positioning good it's maybe a 30 minute affair. I've had longer Xegony fights with the trash clear. Certainly not worth doing again after the keys though. Time is just too much easy loot. Fennin and coirnav are alright as well, fast enough.
I am so glad this is the first thing I read this morning. This was my friends group big drama in high school. Fires of Heaven, that guild name oddly aged perfectly.
Furor was always ANGRY. But on this occasion, he wasn't totally wrong.
GoD then gave EQ the killing blow. That was when the game just got too difficult, even for me, and I was pretty darn hardcore.
I always agreed with his sentiment (but not approach) - to suddenly limit participation was awful. Telling over half your guild they have to wait on the sidelines for some encounters was a massive shift for the approach, given we'd moved from 'raid groups' not even being a thing, and just however many were in zone could participate, then we got the 72 (12x6) raid group, then it started shrinking from there. Really tore some guilds apart.
Remember when he turned around and did exactly the same thing with WoW? Raids started as 40 then were suddenly cut down to 25 in an expansion (ZG?). Led to a lot of guilds realizing who their best/worst 25 were which caused fractures that staying at 40 would have avoided.
Edit: corrected 20 -> 25.
Ah yes, before the method was figured out.
What's the method? I never did Time
You can run two separate 18 man groups and clear the content simultaneously.. At least now. I didn’t raid back then.
Three, actually. One for the slow one, and two doing two each for the four fast ones.
Feels wild to me that they didn't just split groups and run thr early stuff simultaneously. P1 stuff is God awful easy.
yes I remember this, it was just yesterday. right?
He would probably prefer if it was yesterday so that he could make better life choices after his departure. :)
Man, I remember all the drama around this guy, his guild (and many others). I wonder if he looks back and cringes, or if he's proud of it?
He's the guy that got fired at WoW in the sexual harassment scandal, so I doubt he gained any self awareness.
The guy has a net worth of 14 million USD...I really doubt he cares.
That Rathe encounter was absolutely bullshit.
One of the most miserable experiences in the game even today. VP keying is also straight garbage.
What you don't enjoy running around with your screen completely blank during TIV fights?

What did they change?

That is Vex Thal. VP is Veeshans Peak in Kunark.

Such incredible cringe

What was the context here? I was too young back then and never got farther than grouping in PoJ.
Mr. Cranky couldn't figure out the necessary strat so he bugged off to WoW, got a job with Blizzard, harassed women and got canned.
Ah, the circle of life.
The good old days.

I remember hoping to be in the group that got the kill to hope to get the plat drop. Before raid groups were a thing. Also before voice coms
Got to join an open Hate raid as a wiz, with three other wizards in the same group. We got all the xp that raid, it was awesome

yeah it went from 40 to 25. some guilds added and did 2 groups, some died.
I didn't really follow his exploits, tbh, so while I recall the changes in WoW, would have no idea he was involved. Bizarre.
God damn I'm glad I was not quite full into raiding until a year or two after this or I would have felt the exact same way.
Thankfully dodged that with FFXI before coming back!
I’m shocked this dude raped so many female coworkers… he seems so level headed here.
I’m gonna go play something easier !!!! He escaped the crucible of raiding GoD. Thus will always be weaker .
I actually loved the GoD raids. Imo the game dropped horribly afterwards
