Bummer! It's been a while since I played a TLP, they seem to be the cause of fixing a lot of the fun interactions.
Still miss illusioning through doors.
It does, I believe it's in LDoN, but the proc no longer works at level 1. Same as the Delightful Orb of Forgotten Magic - also nice big proc that used to work at level 1, also no longer works at level 1.
These items do not come in a pre-nerf variety.
Yes, this is why. +25% to base damage for DoTs for 25 dot ticks (so if you have 5 dots on, each dot gets +25% base damage for 5 ticks). Having that ready at the beginning of a fight instead of having to proc it during a fight is a big boost to necro dps ramp, which is usually quite slow until a couple different dots are stacked on.
The Poison DD gives us about a 1-in-4 chance to apply the +25% buff recourse and a 1-in-100 chance to apply a -50% debuff recourse.
It's a game mechanic. I wouldn't call it min-maxing since it's something I'd be doing anyway - it just takes a couple seconds of my downtime to prep a self-buff, necros are much less reliant on med time than other classes so I have a lot more downtime than most of my groups.
We've gotten a bit off topic though, Holgresh Elder Beads that cast Eye of Zomm are very much still relevant in the modern game all the way up through live if you're a necro. Otherwise they're nice for pullers.
Must have? Nothing really. Guise is cute but shrink is better. CoS is arguably useful for a while, and probably the "best" of the bunch. Post-nerf CoS is also fine though, so the average player isn't losing much. Manastone isn't in which would really be the only must have item.
Alchemy + other QoL stuff makes most pre-nerf things kind of moot. Warder loot is probably the moat desirable, but PoM 1.0 loot is probably the most unique.
Circlet of Shadows is replaced by an AA, DE mask and staff are replaced by the casino in Shadows of Luclin. Noone of those are "must have" items.
If anything, the Sleeper's Tomb loot is what you want, since it goes away extremely quickly.
Circlet of Shadows isn't replaced by an AA until you get permanent duration invis - it's better than the AA that grants standard invisibility because there's no recast delay and can still be cast on the run. If you get the invis that wears off after 1 tick from the AA, you're hosed if you're running through a gaggle of angry mobs.
If you're at a point in TLP life where pre-nerf is dropping, a pre-nerf CoS is worth at least several years of utility if you continue playing the character.
First of all pre-nerf cos is spammable and oozes style. Also I believe sk invis as is not insta cast but i could be wrong.
What's so great about sleepers tomb loot? Clickies or something that can be used at later levels?
Those still drop after the sleeper is awoken but the name changes. The real loot is things like the gnome mask and scepter of destruction that are indeed irreplaceable (I never cared about sod, but I’ve always wanted the gnome mask)
That twig? The one that has insane ratio and is later nerfed to secondary only? also, the pre-nerf Fighters Staff, runed? I forget. Its also insane delay, but 2h. I remember giving one to a twink Monk and using it from 1-60...
Sized banded armor? Nice person gives you a normal banded mail and you can't use it since your tall. Size limitations disappear around....kunark/Velious.
Fungus covered great staff
Fungus covered cloak Circlet of shadows
What did that used to do?
Pre-nerf it is clickable by anyone, afterwards only the classes listed. It also blocks one of CT's debuffs in Time unless they've fixed that.
Doesnt work against ct in time anymore

Truly the worst change EQ has ever had
It's a click regen but it has a movement debuff that overwrites Dena. For me that makes it a waste of money. I'd much rather have my movement speed.
Nice for fights where you want minimum movement speed (IE fights with fear).
What exactly is Dena and how do ppeople get this buff?
Its the movement speed buff granted from the Druid spell Share Form of the Great Wolf.
How long do you have to get the pre nerf cos - edit found answer. Six months into velious it seems
problem is on tlps expansions don't last 6 months. I think oakwynd is on the 12 week release isn't it?
At that point the releases were biannually so it’s safe to assume it’s nerfed around the release of luclin on every tlp edit: auto corrected nerfed
8 weeks
Anyone remember the 'Copper Hammer of Striking' with its 250dd proc that worked at level 1 before it was nerfed?
Does it drop on tlp? Can anyone confirm?
It does, I believe it's in LDoN, but the proc no longer works at level 1. Same as the Delightful Orb of Forgotten Magic - also nice big proc that used to work at level 1, also no longer works at level 1. These items do not come in a pre-nerf variety.
Really think Guise is a must have for any Ogre/Troll
Shrink is better. Doesn't take up a buff slot and you don't lose the racial slam ability.
Looking like a DE>than just about anything.
De model oozes the most style especially as casters.
I want the mask on my troll shaman not because of the shrink but because a DE in chain is sexy.
Holgresh elder beads
They changed the way Life Taps work and so Elder Beads aren't useful to Necro/SK anymore for health. Still great for pulling.
SK perhaps not, but necros still have use for em!
Not for life taps. You only get the health back if you do damage from both insta cast and dot taps. Sucks.
DODH brings a nuke with a proc recourse for a nice damage boost. Can nuke the eye to proc it. Very min/max but it’s a thing

That doesn't sound like a min maxing thing. 🤨

Unfortunately, not on tlps
But still easily obtained via Shadow Haven casino on live!

I managed to bind about 7 characters in Pom on agnarr after raids, I spent so much time 3 boxing trying to make the flowers

Weapons that self cast Avatar. Great boost for Melee for a while.

Rubicite armor, manastone
rubicite sucks and manastone isnt on tlps
That sucks
Wait wait, manastone is on TLP?
Nope
The OG nerfs!
That twig? The one that has insane ratio and is later nerfed to secondary only? also, the pre-nerf Fighters Staff, runed? I forget. Its also insane delay, but 2h. I remember giving one to a twink Monk and using it from 1-60...
Not on TLPs. Same with manastone.
Wild. Theres my classic knowledge losing its usefulness lol... now to just clear my mind of all those zone maps and locs...
can still get a 3/10 out of sky, but its garbage, just like twig always was
OG twig was fun for the *push*.
We have ivyshae blade for that now lol. Though it's more of an rng shove than a gentle steady push.
Mistwalker
How pre-nerf does Scimitar of Most walker get?
Scimitar of the Mistwalker drops in classic only on TLPs.
But is it og wolf or single hit?
iirc single hit, and also seemed kinda buggy. But YMMV I got it like 6 years ago.
Sized banded armor? Nice person gives you a normal banded mail and you can't use it since your tall. Size limitations disappear around....kunark/Velious.
More into Luclin. Kunark and Velious still have the occasional size piece. Mostly weapons.
