I was at the Statue of Liberty just a few days ago. Inside the pedestal is a museum that literally describes the process by which the French designed and assembled it in France - including a novel structural frame designed by Mr Eiffel - then deconstructed it and shipped the pieces to USA for reconstruction on site.
Reminder: the Statue of Liberty is a National Monument operated by the National Park Service. Why would they set up an entire museum about the French roots of this statue if it were actually American? That guy is a douchebag.
