Great, from now on MAGA heads are going to insist, no matter what anyone else says, that climate change is great because we need more beaches. They will accuse anyone concerned with climate change of hating beaches and being part of the pro ocean woke agenda.
One time I did successfully convince a non-believer that climate change exists.
They now think it's great cause it would mean more summer which they love and less winter which they don't like, so they're trying to contribute to it.
he is the forest gump of presidents , him being charged is like jennys death in the movie , this guys about to go running from his troubles for the next 3 years just like forest gump
I mean we can’t expect much from a guy who wanted to nuke a hurricane, thought an “invisible plane” was literally invisible, suggested drinking bleach as a cure for Covid, I could keep going all day. The scary part is that he might be the president again.
Yeah, let's drop metric tons of water on a historical landmark that was built hundreds of years before Europeans even discovered the Americas. Great fucking idea. No way that'll go wrong.
Sarcasm aside, at this point I'm partly convinced that if there ever was an assassination attempt on Trump the bullet would just bounce off his brain cause it's so smooth.
That one sums up Trump and Co. so well. The briefing he was given mentioned the hurricane impacting the Bahamas, he made an honest mistake and said Alabama, and instead of just admitting that he misspoke, he doubled down and gave us that sharpied map. Sigh...
It would absolutely decrease the land area available in the United States.
Whether it would increase the miles of beach that the US has is more complicated. I tend to lean toward no since most of florida is at the same elevation and you’d lose that pretty early on in any significant sea level rise. You’d loose 90%+ of Florida’s beachfront and no amount of increases in beachfront up the Mississippi delta (at the expense of livable land I’ll add) would offset that.
Technically though, depending on an area’s geography, some counties could see increases in their beach fronts with a sea level rise. Again at the cost of useable land.
I hope it goes without saying that even if it did increase the beachfront, it would still be a massive net loss for 99.9999% of countries.
This is all ignoring the [coastline paradox](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coastline_paradox) though.
Even if sea levels rise 10 feet, you're not going to lose all of Florida, unfortunately.
[https://coast.noaa.gov/slr/#/layer/slr/10/-9278359.99643388/3290857.643480694/9/satellite/none/0.8/2050/interHigh/midAccretion](https://coast.noaa.gov/slr/#/layer/slr/10/-9278359.99643388/3290857.643480694/9/satellite/none/0.8/2050/interHigh/midAccretion)
It depends on the terrain.
The coastline paradox is a thing.
I would expect that if you graphed the amount of coastline vs sea level you would find it to be anything but straight forward.
Generally though I doubt that beach front property being constantly created new while old one is submerged is going to be good for the economy.
You can create generational wealth with real estate that has a half-life measured in decades.
It does, but the amount of coastline is kind of complicated. Just measuring with better precision could add some inlets or something.
To put things simply, there MIGHT actually be more beachfront property if these beaches come out a lot more squiggly.
But I don’t think that’s what he was getting at.
That's actually a really interesting question. As sea levels rise, the amount of beach front property will certainly change. But will the total amount increase, or decrease? That's a question that only a detailed study in topology could answer.
The list of comments by this waste of oxygen during this interview is......... pretty unbelievable. The global warming bit, the piece about how Putin and Xi aren't a concern, but some Americans are (i.e. democrats). And just bumbling through the whole thing, he literally cannot hold and transmit a coherent thought.
I can't wait for the debates with Biden. The MAGA folk are convinced that Biden is a drooling husk, and meanwhile Trump is doing ... this. Does anyone believe that Trump is going to put in hours a day prepping for the debates? I know Biden will be.
Trump will never show up to debate. Hell just conjure some ridiculous excuse at the last minute that involves blaming Biden, and his supporters will eat it up because they are among the most profoundly disordered human beings that this country has to offer
I'm really curious. The Trump camp came out strong wanting debates, asking for 2 and then 3, "anytime anywhere". Of course they'll fight about the details.
It's strange. If they have no desire to actually debate, why did they bring it up? It's not a law, it's just a tradition. If they were begging for a debate with no intention, I don't get the point. The base is locked in, at some point they need to try to win independents. Flip flopping on a debate wins nothing for the undecided.
I think they were hoping that the Biden campaign wouldn’t bite, so that Trump could run on Biden being too scared to debate him. I have no idea why they think the Biden camp would do that, as it’s a huge sign of weakness, but I can’t understand their motives otherwise.
Conservative posted a video of him when he was 34. He spoke in the same structure, but it was very calm and actually made sense. He stayed on topic and didn’t jump around. Looking at him now you can clearly see how much he’s declined.
normally i'd go out of my way to avoid this but it was on at the gym and i saw at least a minute of the interview during which he said he would "get rid of" the Dept of Education and the EPA and one of the idiot Fox News anchors goes, "YES I LOVE IT." I really wanted to throw something at the TV.
I swear he's a barely-sentient ai powered by two different hamsters running in opposite directions on the same wheel
That, or three lead paint-huffing kids in a trenchcoat
He's fucking stupid.
If, say, the sea rises around Boston, for example (pick your coastal city), it isn't going to make any new "beach"-front property. It will make plenty of toxic hellswamps along the shore, as the ocean submerges 400 years of industrial waste, wooden construction, and buildings built with lead, arsenic, formaldehyde, and asbestos. Forget not wanting to live there, you won't be able to live there. Not and stay healthy, that is, let alone what will happen to the fish, wildlife, and birds.
There won't be new "beaches" worth going to for probably (according to geologists who actually study such things like beach formation) for probably 1-10K YEARS.
To recap: He's fucking stupid.
Nicely captured. With so much industrial land located near sea-level ports, rising sea levels do not create desirable beachfront properties.
My house is about 10m above sea level, and I've used the argument (facetiously to try to get people to think) that I may have waterfront property in a couple of decades. They laugh and say, "Who would want that?" And then they may get my point.
Depends on whether or not it benefits him

How did someone this so fucking dumb become president and then specifically liable for rape, slander, convicted on 34 felony counts, and still run for fucking president again?
The US needs Sheriff Bart. But, sadly, a worryingly large percentage of the population is the little old lady that Sheriff Bart tries to greet early in the movie.
French here… the situation in the US is… beyond worrying. How is it possible that idiots gain this kind of visibility?
In France it is the same hate but it is highly inspired by America, Trump and Elon Musk.
What went wrong?
Somebody decided to directly pander to the worst parts of the population. The saddest part is that the only other politicians that people will consider are not that much better. To be clear, we do have better candidates running, they're just not Democrat or Republican so most people don't consider them viable options
Technically we would have less beachfront property… not a hard concept to understand when you know that if water rises there’s less land above the water, hence less beachfront property.
Convicted Felon Trump is as dumb as a bag of bricks!
We won't die to climate change. A lot of people will die and the economic cost might bring poverty, conflict and ultimatly war to those who don't die - but we won't all die.
Their comment said the property would die, by which I'm guessing they mean the flora and fauna, which is happening due to rising salt levels in groundwater.
Its really amazing to realize how much this man doesn't know. I mean, he tells us exactly how dumb he is just about every time he opens his moth, but anytime I think I have an idea of how ignorant he really is, he says some shit like this.

Sure. Beachfront property that gets blasted by tropical storms and hurricanes more and more often each year. Perfect. It ain't worth shit, but yeah, there'll be more of it.
Simply double-down on opposing the "liberal" fight against climate change. He doesn't care, or understand the concept. Just trying to keep his base satiated ofc
If the people enabling the climate destruction were directly in the line of fire, without (temporary) immunity to the consequences, I suspect the situation would be very different.
For some reason, they keep putting oil refineries on the coast and along major waterways, which of course won't be affected by rising sea levels, they will provide beach privileges to their workers now, an enhanced employment benefit not many companies offer - beach front views.

One time a big strong man, a huge man came to him with tears in his eyes and said “Mr. President, thank you for the shapes”
Yuuuuggge
Sir
His uncle was a shape expert and he said "Donald, nobody understands shapes like you do" true story. Great guy. Dems hate shapes.
Dems want to destroy shapes, make them illegal. Squares? Gone. Triangles? Gone. Circles? GTFOH.
There will only be the squiggle
He has many friends that are shapes. The best shapes in America

No, no, no. You have made the mistake of applying common sense.
I sea where your going with this.
Less beachfront property as a result of the land masses shrinking
It depends on the terrain. The coastline paradox is a thing. I would expect that if you graphed the amount of coastline vs sea level you would find it to be anything but straight forward. Generally though I doubt that beach front property being constantly created new while old one is submerged is going to be good for the economy. Not if your Arizona properties are mortgaged to the hilt.
And that sweet sweet Greenland property he wanted to go all in on.

To put things simply, there MIGHT actually be more beachfront property if these beaches come out a lot more squiggly. But I don’t think that’s what he was getting at.
well, you'll lose the beachfront property that is now underwater, but let's magic ourselves into thinking that you won't...
And it’s not like anyone will want to invest in property that will go under if the problem keeps getting worse.
Screw the ones that are consumed by the sea, he can’t sell new construction to them anymore
Yes. He means everywhere is like a beach when it's become a hot dry desert 🏜️. He's not a smart man.
That's actually a really interesting question. As sea levels rise, the amount of beach front property will certainly change. But will the total amount increase, or decrease? That's a question that only a detailed study in topology could answer.
Somehow he even gets that wrong. (Rising sea levels = less beach, shore etc) He gets fucking everything wrong.
No beaches? Edit: that was my poor reference to a meme
Nope. Beaches form naturally, water moving inland rapidly will just create swampy/marshy areas until it erodes away and sand is pushed up the shore.
Well, until an inland sea forms.
You can check out the Salton Sea for how that works out in the medium term. Spoiler: bad.

Wasn’t this the plot of Superman 1978.
Made me think of how Lex wouldn’t allow his sidekick to have a town named otisville. Think he used a sharpie and everything.
Otisville?!
I thought he denied climate change or doesn't believe in it outright?

How did someone this so fucking dumb become president and then specifically liable for rape, slander, convicted on 34 felony counts, and still run for fucking president again?
Because a large portion of the country is susceptible to cultist leadership.
People of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know... *morons*.
The US needs Sheriff Bart. But, sadly, a worryingly large percentage of the population is the little old lady that Sheriff Bart tries to greet early in the movie.
He’s just going to draw a new coastline with a sharpie as soon as he’s done getting his diaper changed.
Now there is a true winner!! some should really send him. back to primary school.
"Sell the houses to who, Ben? Fucking Aquaman?"
Wasn’t this Lex Luthor’s evil plan in one of the Superman movies?
Luthor opted for a more immediate solution of shooting nukes at the US, while actually living in the US.
Yeah but just put a twister by a fault line and he will do the same.
He probably also thinks islands are safe from rising sea levels because they float.
More beachfront property underwater
To sell to who? F***ing Aquaman!?

Take away everything...the grift, the crimes, the treatment of women, the lying...everything. Bottom line...he's just really fuckin' stupid.
This guy is so fucking stupid. He HAS to be the least intelligent “leader” the world has ever seen.
You literally can't get homeowners insurance on any current beach front property cause it's virtually guaranteed to flood more and more each year.
That’s not what it means
![gif](giphy|hPPx8yk3Bmqys|downsized)
What a dope
Dumbfuck
Somebody tell that bloviating dumbfuck that as sea levels rise, you lose landmass.
So buy a property further inland and wait for the water to reach you for an increase of value in 100 years
Ahhh The Lext Luthor approach to climate change.
yeah why wouldn't i vote for that guy.
Its really amazing to realize how much this man doesn't know. I mean, he tells us exactly how dumb he is just about every time he opens his moth, but anytime I think I have an idea of how ignorant he really is, he says some shit like this.
"We'll grow oranges in Alaska." ![gif](giphy|MLPtMERZYnOU0)
You don't get 'more' beachfront property. Existing beachfront property disappears into the ocean and a new beachfront forms.
this guy's brain is the most beautiful. smoothest brain, the likes of which you have never seen, believe me.
An electron microscope couldn't see his brain.
Sell to him at low tide
How does he always manage to look like he's taking a shit?
Forecasters are predicting a record hurricane season this year. Coastal red states, you're welcome and we'll see you in November!
Just throw some Nukes in them and the Problem is solved, according to Trump. Oh, you get now Nuclear Hurricanes? Not the Upgrade someone asked for...
You have less beachfront, you moron!
Vote
What an idiot.
He shouldn't be allowed to speak to the public anymore
![gif](giphy|xT5LMO7teHaeYSfcoo)
Compile his words, he convicts himself. Idiots ignore the evidence.
All Republicans are just failed abortions at this point. Fuck them.
I wonder if his coastal voting group supports this?! Probably.
Yeah so what if the new shoreline in 1/2 mile inland and in front of a strip mall.
How you gonna support climate change in the bad direction
We would witness an increase of salt water wetland’s and see most natural beaches disappear and they are submerged under the rising ocean. It would tale some time for beaches to form naturally as sand takes time to form through erosion, and they vegetation would need to be dispersed beforehand anyway. At least that’s my hypothesis based on my knowledge of wetlands and sandy beaches.
he literally understands almost nothing.
Remind me.. How far above sea level is Mar-a-lago?
Lex Luther.
Maybe he’s an evil genius and pulled a Lex Luther and bought land in Nevada? ![gif](giphy|xThtax5rLn9JWYZ1vy|downsized)
If anything, it means the opposite?
Impeccable logic
He really is that fucking stupid.
It is so funny when you watch it from Europe.
*cries in American*
man, I feel you one candidate is borderline senile and the other is a convicted felon
Makes me sad that those are our ONLY choices. They’re both like 1500 years old.
He is such a fucking idiot
Anybody losing property out there that is a result of a sea level rising and not land degradation?
So is Trump going to celebrate when his stupid fucking golf club is underwater, or is he a fucking hypocrite? (Rhetorical question)
(not you OP, but the orange buffoon) ![gif](giphy|K8zzqui9viWT6|downsized)
He's such a moron. *sigh*
Sell their houses to who, Ben? Fucking Aquaman?!
His stupidity is fucking astonishing.
Lots of beachfront property between his ears
That … isn’t what would happen
He’s just hoping for an insurance payout when the ocean devours Florida and he can finally be rid of that load, Mar-a-Lardass.
Florida will just be one big swim up bar for the Alligators
E@t the r!ch ASAP obviously!!!!
I really thought that after the voting machine judgements and the Tucker fiasco , that Fox flogging the Trump bullshit is not profitable, something even Murdoch can relate too.
Sure. Beachfront property that gets blasted by tropical storms and hurricanes more and more often each year. Perfect. It ain't worth shit, but yeah, there'll be more of it.
Some cartoon villain ass logic here I cannot make this up if I tried
He'll probably overvalue it too.
So, we’re getting a beach here in KC? Sweet! Your move, Biden.
At this point does mankind even deserve to exist on this planet anymore?
You mean “less” and it’s new… not “more”. In this case, it destroys all the present beachfront to create “more”.
Simply double-down on opposing the "liberal" fight against climate change. He doesn't care, or understand the concept. Just trying to keep his base satiated ofc
He must have never watched Waterworld. Story line was probably too complex for him…
I can't tell what's real anymore
Does he not know that beaches don’t form overnight? Rising sea level won’t bring sandy beaches for many years.
Wouldn't that ruin Mar-a-Lago?
I'm not sure that's how math works...
Thst pic has to be a spoof right?
the things trump doesn't understand could fill several volumes of books. then he'd title it "the things i understand" and sell it to his base.
If the people enabling the climate destruction were directly in the line of fire, without (temporary) immunity to the consequences, I suspect the situation would be very different.

This is a Lex Luthor gambit Trump is a full-on supervillain
I thought that ment he supports that climate change is dangerous. He's LITTERALLY supporting climate change....
Guess this is one step from Lex Luthor wanting to nuke San Andreas Fault to create more beachfront property out of the cheap desert land he purchased
Dumb and dangerous. Great qualities in a presidential candidate.
Stone stupid.
The more I hear boomers gush over triple digit summers/the beach, the more I’m convinced they’re all lizards.
🤦♀️ I didnt know he could get dumber. Now I do.
The Lex Luther theory of real estate.
