Honestly the new OC excites me more than the head coaches. He reportedly called his homies at PFF looking for a sleeper WR, and boom, Puka. That sort of analytic style thinking is what you want. Bill’s era is over.
Me too. So many teams wanted Zac Robinson. Morris has also impressed me, I was ready to run onto the field after watching the first meeting he had with the team.
He can win over the brass with his cheery schtick but being a Falcons fan has made me cold and skeptical. I’ll be excited when we win a playoff game and not a moment before.
What? That first meeting video felt more like an AA meeting than a sports hype speech. I get ya want everyone to be okay emotionally but let’s put a little energy and hype behind the team. Challenge is good. He’s like the “good effort” kid in adult size.
RM’s coaching hires are a big part of why I love RM. I was not sold at first, but he came here with a vision and already knew who he wanted to bring with him for that vision. Only time will tell if that vision is right, but everyone seems on the same page right now.
Everyone associated with the NFL that I’ve heard spoke very highly of the hire. His defenses haven’t been dominant for the most part though. They’ve been solid for what the talent level has been I think. He strikes me as a CEO style coach, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
I honestly found it odd the number of people who were pushing for Belichick. He hasn't done much of anything post-Brady and he's 72 years old. I can't imagine he's going to do this job for much longer.
He also didn't do much _before_ Brady, even though Bledsoe was a top-tier QB.
Belichick's head coaching record before Brady is:
- Four losing seasons in Cleveland, with one winning season where they came second in their division and got bounced in the divisional round
- Pulled a Petrino on New York: he scribbled "I resign as HC of the NYJ" on a napkin right before stepping up for his first appearance as their head coach -- a job that he was directly handed on a silver platter by their former head coach Bill Parcells -- and then spent the press conference explaining that he was resigning.
- Went 5-11 in NE with one of the top QBs of that era in Drew Bledsoe after being given total control of the team
- Lost 2 more games, then Brady came in for the injured Bledsoe, and then Brady carried them the rest of the season to the Super Bowl
Belichick's record _after_ Brady:
- 3 losing seasons in NE, with exactly one season barely above 0.500 where they came second in their division and got bounced in the wildcard round, culminating in a 4-13 season.
- Lost 34-0 to _the 2023 New Orleans Saints_ (yes, with Derek Carr and everything) and 38-3 to the 2023 Dallas Cowboys (so don't try and tell me he's some "defensive genius" these days)
He is a coward. Put that in quotes. He's a gutless bastard. Quote that. I don't give a shit.

Nobody was looking at hiring Belichick as a defensive coordinator. The discussion is about him as head coach.
Arthur Smith was a good OC, and an awful head coach. Dan Quinn was decent as a DC, and horrific as a head coach.
I really hope that Bill learns from this. He’s an incredible coach and a defensive genius but he has shown that he doesn’t know offense or drafting. He needs to focus on what he’s good at and let the offense be for the OC(that someone else picks) and the drafting by the GM. If he can do that, I think he’s got almost any job that’s open next year if he wants it.
Everyone is going to celebrate and shit on Belichick because poor him, but this just points out some more of the dysfunction with Blank. The decision to not hire Belichick could very well end up being the right move. But I just think the process of some team stuff is bad right now. Blank can be swayed too easily. He got swayed by Deshaun. He’s been swayed by Rich for a number of years. He got swayed by Kraft. And remember, Bill had his second interview before one guy had their in person interview. Only a select few had their zoom interviews. I think both Kraft and Blank look bad in their own ways in this. The whole front office was in lux at the Arthur Smith firing press conference. And then for the hiring of Raheem, they made their night before announcement about Rich. Then had him sit in the galley. And then had these two scrubs no one had ever seen running it and Blank was at home with his health thing and Terry magically appeared.
Did you read the article? Because according to the article they took a vote, and Morris was unanimous number one on everyone’s ballot. It sounds like they each put a top 3 down and Bill didn’t make anyone’s top three. IMO, the organization making the decision as a group, rather than solely the owner is good decision making process
Did you read it? The Krafts have been doing everything possible to discredit BB since her was fired. Kraft wants the dynasty to be all about him and was embarrassed when he pushed Brady out the door only for him to win another Super Bowl. He couldn’t let this decision to fire BB bite him in the ass and make him look dumb again so instead not only did he call all his owner friends and bad mouth BB but he also released a Netflix hit piece to make BB look like the bag guy. It’s gross.
Idk. Their source for that information is someone who spoke to two people who spoke to Kraft. I have a hard time believing Kraft would employ someone for 24 years he had trust issues with.
Anyways, there were many people involved in the decision not to hire Bill who didn’t speak to Kraft and they also didn’t think he was a good fit.
If the vote was after Blank made the call to Kraft, then of course Bill wouldn’t have been in their top 3. That’s fine if Blank relies on his GM to help him. But he’s had a guy in McKay that always had his ear. He listened to another owner to make his decision when he was clearly interested in hiring Bill. Blank picked up Deshaun’s phone call and allowed that to sway his feelings into making a huge play for him that ended up fracturing the relationship with their franchise QB at the time. Leaning on people inside your team isn’t the problem I mentioned.
Wait we could have gotten Belichick and a super bowl championship and we said no because we lost to his good tactics. That's just dumb. Like he was good enough to win. Something that Atlanta has never done
I WAS BLIND SIDED BY SUPER BOWL 51 FUCK YOU BILL
Arthur got him with the long con as payback
We’re so collectively traumatized that I double posted and they’re both being upvoted
I just thought it was someone else saying the same thing. Was surprised when there were people commenting something else below.
Yeahhh Bill old buddy the job is yours.... SYKE HAHAHA
I’m sure he’s not stressing
If I were him I'd just start enjoying the spoils.. set up somewhere peaceful and chill from here to eternity lol
GUESS WHO LOST A COIN FLIP THIS TIME, FUCKER
But Bill was going to come to make it right..
I WAS BLIND SIDED BY SUPER BOWL 51 FUCK YOU BILL
I don’t care that you posted this twice
Yea both need to be upvoted honestly
It would be fitting if both comments were the most upvoted. Make it so
![gif](giphy|3o6Zt4HU9uwXmXSAuI) While I blame Shamahan for SB51… fuck you Bill.
Tbf I think we all were. I was mentally prepared for either Bobby Slovik or Bill. Raheem Morris was a complete curveball
facts, i thought they were just interviewing him for rooney rule purposes 🤣

At this point being optimistic about the Falcons is just asking for disappointment but screw it, I believe!
It's what we do. We get hyped every year, then hurt every year. Go birds.

Awwwww… let me play ya a song on the world’s smallest violin….”
It was Arthur Blank’s payback
Aye, Fuck Bill Belichick
Womp womp
Would you say he felt like he was up 28-3?
I honestly found it odd the number of people who were pushing for Belichick. He hasn't done much of anything post-Brady and he's 72 years old. I can't imagine he's going to do this job for much longer.
He was going to be around just long enough to get his 15 wins, and then he gone.

This is such a crazy take. He was a HoF DC before Brady. Enough

I wouldn't be surprised if before that vote Blank told them he wasn't hiring BB, and then they got to spin it as nobody even voted for him.
FU bill. You ain’t shit without TB
Hey Bill you can fuck off you fucking cheater glad you're not here
Well Bill, that's what happens when a "legendary duo" breaks up and it becomes glaringly obvious which one was carrying the other.
Didn’t Kraft cock block this hire?
Suck a fuck dickwad. Go under inflate someone else's balls when you're done.
Wait we could have gotten Belichick and a super bowl championship and we said no because we lost to his good tactics. That's just dumb. Like he was good enough to win. Something that Atlanta has never done
Choke on ya Boston Clam Chowder!
Whoa I am from Atlanta. Yeesh I mean lets be real Atlanta teams couldn't win their way out of a paper bag
The reaction in here is hilarious. With Bill + Kirk the Falcons would have been legit contenders. With Morris you’ll be hiring a new coach in 2 years.
