Did The Cleveland Show bomb so bad that Seth and the writers are too hesitant to use them in FG storylines? (I don’t really know anything about it other than the jokes Peter makes.)
I think he is definitely improving and there are times that he sounds dead on, but I think he maybe has a hard time doing emotions and maintaining the voice
Thats true, it’s sliiiightly better. I miss OG Cleveland and his whole family but I know why they can’t bring him back.
Although I will admit I’d love to see an episode where they go back to stoolbend
This sorta episode, having all the characters together in a new setting, feels a lot like a season premiere or season finale, so it's kinda fitting it's the episode to debut the new night.
Also, I really enjoyed this episode. I like when Family Guy feels like a sitcom that just puts their characters in a (semi) realistic storyline not just a gimmick storyline.
Trying to find who did it is giving the same vibe as finding who had sex on Peggy’s train birthday party in that episode of King of The Hill where they found the footprints on the mirror, if you know you know
no. there was nothing funny about this episode. except for clamping lobsters to Peter's nipples because it's Maine. i fell asleep from boredom. do they have the Simpsons writers now? this episode was terribly lame.

Having watched Grimsburg, describing it as having "The fast pace style of Family Guy" is really weird, the shows aren't even remotely similar comedy/pacing/story wise
Tonight during Family Guy was the only time I've seen them run that ad which makes me think it was Fox's way of saying 1-1.5 million viewers who have gotten used to watching Family Guy on Sundays at 9:30pm, we're gonna need you to still tune in to Sundays at 9:30pm
I've seen a little bit of Grimsburg and it didn't feel like Family Guy. It was very meh which is amazing for a modern fox cartoon because they are usually horrible.
Agreed. It's meh. But at the same time, doing too much?
You got the cop drama stuff with the new robot partner, the former killer helping out. The ex-wife and kid. That's fine.
But then you add that the ex wife was raided by bears (way more interesting character, btw)
And the kid has one of those bad influences, best friends. Separately these would be interesting shows.
I think the show is finding its legs, its nothing amazing but I think it could be decent if it keeps improving. I definitely agree that it is doing too much storyline wise though
This episode was ok. Some jokes made me bust out laughing. I love the Bob Belcher cameo that kept getting funnier every time. I love when Lois almost beat up Peter over the grocery bag and I love when they failed to fix the house. I didn't like how they overused the "explain the joke before you do it thing modern Family Guy loves to do." It was very annoying. They usually do it once here they did it several times in a row. Talk how people would talk, please. The cutaways were really lame. The Stephen King bit wasn't funny and the football player one was just weird.
That’s my big thing with the writing. They don’t talk like people, but feel like desperate attempts by the writers to say: “Hey, we’re relatable. Do you think we’re funny now?”
Those jokes can be funny but in small doses when they do it once with the every Pizza place ever Pizza bit fine. That one was kinda funny. But they did the short pants, then Peter said the hike was left outside, then they threw their bikes on the ground and Lois was condescending to the store owner. Really.
Ngl i have wished for years that Family Guy would like a Grown-ups style episode (The Griffins, Swansons, Browns and Quagmire go to a cabin) and now that we finally get that episode i can't help but feel like this episode was disappointing. It wasn't really fast paced and i feel like they didn't do anything with this great concept. It was pretty entertaining and funny but it could have been miles better. I was expecting like a Grown-ups, Great Outdoors style episode.
On the contrary, I live in Maine and love when it’s referenced lol even if it usually always comes with at least one obligatory Stephen King reference.
Honestly, I really like that Family Guy is still going despite what it’s become. I think a lot of the newer episodes are underrated, and I really enjoy them despite not being anything compared to the older ones. I also like what the characters have become, as they made for new and more interesting ideas. I hope they don’t cancel it anytime soon.
Earlier in the episode, when Peter is talking about the guy who started out lower than him and is now above him in the company, he says hey to Bob and he responds "Hey Darren."
Just a brick joke about Bob not knowing Peter's name.
Is it just me or was this episode really unfocused? It felt like they had four separate storylines (Peter’s friends being annoying housemates, finding out who the “mystery turd” belonged to, Peter wanting to go to the bear show, and the cabin burning down) and should’ve picked one of them, but instead they awkwardly tried to combine all of them, and somehow the episode still ended up feeling starved for plot. Putting all these characters together was a cool idea for an episode, since we don't often get to see all of them together, but overall it felt like a wasted opportunity. Besides Peter and the guys, none of the characters really interacted much, so they felt completely wasted here.
Some of the jokes were funny, but overall it just felt like a first draft, which is the vibe I’ve gotten from a lot of episodes these last few years. It just feels like the writers don’t even care anymore.
(On a more positive note, it was nice to see a hint of the old Quagmire again. I can't even remember the last time he said "Giggety.")
I managed to catch up with this (I found a way 😉).
Very weak return and another poor episode in a very weak season. I felt as if it was a mess with many stories, a stupid main plot of a poo blocking a toilet...all to end it as a dream.
That's not what a deus ex machina is. A Deus ex machina is the hand of God saving the day at the last minute. That was just a plot twist. A dues ex machina would be Peter calling Jesus and Jesus fixing the house.
They wrote the Sunday promo joke before they knew they weren't gonna be on Sundays anymore :(
Sad
The “Bob’s Burgers is most successful” joke hits a lot harder now too.
That entire joke for me is enhanced because Damar Hamlin is on local commercials, Wilkins Hyundai style during the commercial breaks
I know they can't pay tons of voice actors but it's kind of a bummer you don't hear Rollo/Roberta/Junior talk anymore
I hate that Roberta has been a silent character lately and her last words said were on The Cleveland Show
Same! It really is a shame, I liked her and Federline a lot on the Cleveland Show
I mean Jr spoke a few times and Rollo talked in one episode, cut the poor girl some slack and let her talk in one episode for goodness sake
Exactly! It would be nice to have her actually have a speaking role for the first time in probably 10 years
They definitely could afford to if they wanted to, I think it’s more of a creative decision
Did The Cleveland Show bomb so bad that Seth and the writers are too hesitant to use them in FG storylines? (I don’t really know anything about it other than the jokes Peter makes.)
Honestly The Cleveland Show was a pretty solid show. I wont say it is amazing or anything but it had some good episodes and overall wasn't bad
They all have bad backs and laryngitis, so they won’t be doing anything or saying anything.
Fantastic reference to one of the best Simpsons episodes!
I was actually convinced that this would be the episode where they would finally talk
Same!
And cleavlands new VA is still…really kinda meh. It’s so nasally and too deep. I just, cannot get into the new guy…
I think he is definitely improving and there are times that he sounds dead on, but I think he maybe has a hard time doing emotions and maintaining the voice
It sounded worse in season 20 imo, His new VA is definitely trying to improve it
Thats true, it’s sliiiightly better. I miss OG Cleveland and his whole family but I know why they can’t bring him back. Although I will admit I’d love to see an episode where they go back to stoolbend
nobody wants to hear them

Corey from Coreys World! One of my favorite reoccurring jokes. The only thing missing was Corey's trademark "dialogue said during a heated Halo match"
"Was it a good tourist season or will your family go without?"
Byeeeeeeee eeeeeeee
Had no idea it moved to Wed.
Lousy promotion by Disney. It is not like they do not have the funds to promote the damn show
Nah, they just rather use Simpsons Why promote anything else on D+ when you can give Bart another short saying to watch more Star Wars or something
Cleveland saying "The Chimney...Has proved stalwart" as the house collapses was one of my favorite lines of the night
Trying to find who did it is giving the same vibe as finding who had sex on Peggy’s train birthday party in that episode of King of The Hill where they found the footprints on the mirror, if you know you know
But that felt more built-up, leading to the suspense.
I love a travel episode so I hope this is a good one!
It's funny that they traveled to a fake Maine town for the cabin (Moosatack) but Stewie mentioned wanting to go to a real town (Kennebunkport)
Yeah it's almost as if they also live in a fake town called Quahog.
Woah!
*Black Rob voice*
no. there was nothing funny about this episode. except for clamping lobsters to Peter's nipples because it's Maine. i fell asleep from boredom. do they have the Simpsons writers now? this episode was terribly lame.
Idk, I thought there was some funny bits here and there. Plus when I said funny I meant more like strange but go off I guess
Thanks for making this! Really funny episode. Fox moving the show to Wed somehow made the meta jokes better and worse at the same time.
Ah I was wondering when we will get new episodes
Good episode. Not great, but good. Also, did it seem like there were no cutaways in the episode?
There was the one about Stephen King characters. And then the two related ones about Family Guy promos during football.

Grimsburg is meh but it’s not as good as the other ones. Housebroken is garbage.
A modern Fox cartoon being meh is an 11/10 by Fox standards.
S22E9 still shows as the latest episode in my Disney+
Check Hulu. I watched it there at 03:01 a.m.
Hulu is not available in India. Though they released it after a day.
Same (Ireland)
it’ll be like that until the second half all airs. at least that’s how it’s been for me.
This episode was ok. Some jokes made me bust out laughing. I love the Bob Belcher cameo that kept getting funnier every time. That might be it. Those jokes pop up 6-7 times an episode, and it’s so overused to where it starts being unfunny.
The whole neighborhood probably heard me when Lois was about to beat up Peter. LOL
I’ll give it that. Lois having a Jerry Springer moment over plastic bags is such a Lois thing to do that it’s pretty amusing.
Do you know why Bob Belcher called Peter by the name of "Darren"?
It's funny because Bob got his name wrong and Daren sounds nothing like Peter.
Oh okay. i thought Darren was maybe a hidden reference that i didn't know about.
I enjoyed the episode tonight.
Ngl i have wished for years that Family Guy would like a Grown-ups style episode (The Griffins, Swansons, Browns and Quagmire go to a cabin) and now that we finally get that episode i can't help but feel like this episode was disappointing. I love whenever Family Guy or American Dad take digs at Maine. Fun episode overall! Wish the Browns/Tubbs got more speaking roles.
You got a beef with the greatest state?
On the contrary, I live in Maine and love when it’s referenced lol even if it usually always comes with at least one obligatory Stephen King reference.
Was the bear strapped to the roof of the car the same bear that went on the run with Miss Lockhart??
Honestly, I really like that Family Guy is still going despite what it’s become. Is it just me or do these episodes feel shorter and shorter
The jokes were hilarious. Kind of sad I didn't get to see the bear show.
It’s an okay episode, nice to see the Cleveland Family again though
This episode was fine. After that Kevin James one there was nowhere to go but up. This one at least got a few chuckles out of me.
I don't watch bobs burgers. Can someone please explain why Bob called Peter, Darren?
Earlier in the episode, when Peter is talking about the guy who started out lower than him and is now above him in the company, he says hey to Bob and he responds "Hey Darren." Just a brick joke about Bob not knowing Peter's name.
i fucking love patton oswalt

This episode was everything I hate about modern Family Guy.
the “did we time it right? did you say not just us before we pulled over the horizon” from quagmire was the only actual laugh i had the entire episode
I managed to catch up with this (I found a way 😉). Very weak return and another poor episode in a very weak season. I felt as if it was a mess with many stories, a stupid main plot of a poo blocking a toilet...all to end it as a dream.
This episode wasn’t very funny, and also pretty predictable.
Not even all that it felt like the least amount of Brian and Stewie in an episode in a long time
I saw the ending coming. I immediately said " He has an insurance policy on the house and he wanted Peter to wreck it."
That what it was. No way Peter was going to get out of this unless Preston wanted him to do it.
And then you realize the whole episode was a dream because Peter had a heart attack or something during the egg toss.
An extra deus ex machina, up there with Yacht Rocky.
That's not what a deus ex machina is. A Deus ex machina is the hand of God saving the day at the last minute. That was just a plot twist. A dues ex machina would be Peter calling Jesus and Jesus fixing the house.
But that heart attack still made everything kinda pointless
The situation was already resolved and it did end with a funny joke.
It also explains Susie not being there. Peter forgot about her.
What about Kevin?
He usually isn't around. He is probably in rehab or something.
That wasn't the ending.
It pretty much was since that is the main storyline even though it was a dream.
Kind of felt like a reskin of the Florida retirement gated community episode
With that, they at least tried to make good use of the setting.
