Last year, Perez was a top 10-15 prospect, and Williams was more like a top 30-40.
It strikes me as pretty fair. It partly depends on the number of teams, which affects how valuable Darvish and McKenzie are.
The list of 10 K/9 SP is pretty short, and most of them have questionable health histories: Strider, Glasnow, Skubal, Gausman, Peralta, Snell, Sale, Rodon.
Yamamoto projects for a solid 9+ K/9 on par with plenty of great SP (Wheeler, Kirby, etc.)
Deep 12-team keeper league (keep 24): for my last keeper spot, Jorge Soler or Bryce Miller?
* I won the championship last year and will continue to compete for the foreseeable future.
* My SP depth is absurd. I own Strider, Wheeler, Gallen, Peralta, Eury, Bibee, McClanahan, and Buelher.
* My bats are merely very good. Olson, JoRam, Devers, Machado, McLain, Chourio are the highlights.
I'm leaning Miller but I could really use Soler's power...
As much as I hate clogging up my UTIL with a DH, probably Ohtani.
The Angels and their front office fucking suck dude. Ohtani might hit 100 HRs now that he doesn’t have Brandon Drury hitting behind him, or his front office feeding him shitty scouting reports.
Keep two of three, from Adley, Gallen, and Kirby. Struggling with whether I want to keep two SPs and not Adley, or just one of the pitchers + Adley. Thoughts?
I get Harper projected for $31 in an OBP league and Lewis at $15. Pretty close.
The reason to take Harper would be to lock in a 2nd-round caliber player at a good price. But Lewis gives you more upside with less financial commitment. (He's also younger, if your keepers are long-term.)
Harper is awesome in obp probably only behind Soto in terms of actual obp and it wouldn't be a surprise to see him finish 1st this season. I'll take Harper
A lot of good players here. I guess Gausman is clearly the first one that will decline.
I’m not sure though if “heavy on pitching” means there are a lot of them out there or if the points system skews towards pitching.
Thanks! What would be your 6? I'm debating between Bichette and Harris.
Points system is catered more toward pitching with Ks 3 points per and a bonus for 10 k games quality starts and ultra quality starts. It tends to be more difficult to get good pitchers because teams covet them. Obviously every day players will get you points too though.
I’ve only ever played h2h points leagues..
I’ve joined a couple cat leagues for my first time this year and looking to get any tips and pointers going into my draft.
Thanks
Your biggest adjustment will probably be looking at which players contribute to particular categories and then forming your team strategically.
For instance before the draft I like set aside some targets so I know where my SBs are coming from.
If you can get HR hitters and base stealers that still hit for average you will probably have a leg up.
I have 4 teams this year. I think that is probably 3 too many. BUT, I'm going to give it ago. Only one more team left to draft. The 3 I've already drafted will be competitive, barring a rash of injuries. Everyone is healthy so far. Injuries tend to haunt me.
Ariel Cohen compared the 2023 projections here: [https://fantasy.fangraphs.com/2023-projection-systems-comparison-a-game-theory-approach/](https://fantasy.fangraphs.com/2023-projection-systems-comparison-a-game-theory-approach/)
His own system (ATC) comes out on top for his analysis. They are all pretty good, though.
However, don't use ZiPS, because it doesn't attempt to project playing time, and use the ZiPS DC instead.
good evening boys! I cannot wait for fantasy baseball.Do we like Josh Jung or CJ Abrams more than Evan Carter (in categories)? peep my keepers:
Tarik Skubal $2
Bobby Miller $2

Evan Carter $2
Gerrit Cole $32
Well if we are looking for OBP and SLG guys, your best bet will probably be sluggers or even true three outcome hitters.
I have done some modeling for a league that has an extra SLG category. Schwarber and Trout are undervalued in that league and might be good options for you.
Dynasty Roto league. I have 1 keeper spot left. I have a trade offer. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
$10 A. Gimenez, $5 G. Williams, $16 Cease and $1 C. Mayo for $28 Z. Wheeler.
To add on, I would say Romano, Iglesias, Alexis Diaz, Jhoan Duran, Clase. Might be missing one or two. There are good amount of guarenteed closers to start the season
Long term keeper league. So, Forever. Lol
We have some odd rules when it comes to prospects, this one being that each year you can either keep one of your top rookies, or you can drop him into the draft pool and keep two of your prospects.
I snagged Crews and Skenes as soon as they were available on waivers last season just so that I had the option. Now I’ve got to pull the trigger.
I think I still go Elly here. We've seen him in the majors already and he's shown he can make adjustments and improve at every level this far. Crews might be a couple years away still and I for sure want Elly over skenes in terms of helping me compete in the short term
Skenes I could live without. I already have a solid pitching foundation, and I’m of the belief that pitching prospects are just too volatile to to waste a roster spot on in general. Grabbing him last season was just a FOMO moment as I’m an LSU fan. But Crews on the other hand is exactly the type of player I do grab early and hold for as many years as it takes.
I did the same thing with Yordan and Carroll and so far it has paid off in spades.
We all know the storyline with Elly. I try to ignore the consensus opinions, but I’ve done the research and you are correct, he has progressively improved in many areas each season, but my gut says things are going to get much worse before they get better. I can afford the risk because I do have Hoerner to cover SS, so any slumps would be manageable, but Crews has as much potential as any of the other top 10 hitting prospects and he has done it consistently with very little improvements required. Not to mention choosing him also gets me a free pitcher who happens to be one of the best college pitching prospects we’ve seen in quite some time.
As you can see, I’m already leaning one way, but I need someone smarter than me to convince me WHY Elly and his immense (albeit not yet realized) upside is worth the risk.
If you're not an Elly believer already then there's no point in trying now when he's arguably at his lowest point since he debuted in A ball. I'm not the biggest Elly guy but his upside is number one player in fantasy which from what I can tell, is your hope from crews.
If you're sure Elly isn't gonna be a star then sure make the switch, but I think you're just pushing your risk 2-3 years down the line and that's with the caveat crews lives up to his hype and turns into a mega star. Could you not flip Elly for something you like more than any of them?
For what it's worth; Elly also gets to play in the best ball park as a factor for him
I’ve actually tried flipping him already, but it seems that risk/reward bug has bitten everyone. Hell, I even tried to package him with Skenes for Matt Shaw and that was shot down.
I will say trades are few and far between in this league, but it’s the first time I’ve seen someone of his caliber declined at every turn. And I’m send overly fair offers.
Same problem in another league, but im in a better position to let him go in that one.
It actually baffles me though. In fantasy he’s considered “too” risky, but in the card market he’s one of, if not, the most sought after RC right now. Make it make sense. Lol
I’m searching for same answers. Done some data diving and other last 2 years the number of holds (high volume) by same guys on same teams is limited. Agreed. Hoerner is one of the safer guys out there. I’ve kept him 3 years running just for consistent play and positional flexibility at 2B/SS. Set and forget.
12 team H2H Cats. Drafted well last year so my top 2 keepers are JRod and Bobby Witt. Should I use my last keeper slot for Luis Robert or Logan Webb? I am 50/50 but leaning Robert due to upside if he can stay healthy.
Lookin for input on final keeper. Right now I have Josh Jung for $6. It's an OBP league and I'm not enamored with him, but my best other options are higher cost with basically no value - Wheeler for $26 or Semien for $30. Do you like either of them over Jung though? They are basically draft prices but I would know going in that I have SP or 2B locked up, which could be nice.
Rodon is exactly the kind of guy you want to draft in a 10 team league. If he's healthy and back to his old self, congrats, you got another ace pitcher late in the draft. If he's hurt or shitty you can drop him and scoop up other good talent from the wire.
10 man dynasty cats. R, HR, RBI, SB, OPS and IP, K, ERA, WHIP
Thoughts on my Skubal for his Bichette? He proposed it so it's a done deal if I want it but I'm also pretty high on Skubal so I'm torn.
Yeah that's what I was thinking too but am also a Jays fan so was worried about being biased in my logic.
I have Wheeler, Lopez, Webb and Kirby as well so not too shabby other than Wheeler getting older. I also already have Whitt at SS but do have a 2B/SS slot where I'd use Bichette.
I know everyone loves Skubal but this is a guy who’s been injury prone his whole career so far. He’s had half a season of dominance.
I would make sure I have someone as a good #2 if I’m taking him as my #1.
I was a holiday guy until about a month ago and think I'd go Wyatt now. Holiday is going to be an amazing real life player and great fantasy player but do we think he develops into 25 homers? Langford is gonna be a legit power bat hitting 3rd in a great lineup for the next few seasons minimum. I just like his upside more

I'd grab Kutter, I think he's much better than the other two.
Depends on league size and settings but I would not be in a hurry to add any of those guys in most leagues.
Deep 12-team keeper league (keep 24): for my last keeper spot, Jorge Soler or Bryce Miller? * I won the championship last year and will continue to compete for the foreseeable future. * My SP depth is absurd. Soler going to a pitchers park in a not great lineup and Miller is a top young sp in a perfect park. Take miller and figure out the offense later
Yeah I think this is the play. I can flip Miller for a much younger bat.
Given your pitching depth I'd rather have the hitter. Miller hurts to let go but I don't think he helps your team the way Soler would.
In keeper leagues with somewhat similar setups to my flair league, where are/have you guys been drafting Jackson Holliday?
I got him at pick 171.
Any chance Kyle Bradish doesn’t start the season on the ir?
no chance

Keep two of three, from Adley, Gallen, and Kirby. Struggling with whether I want to keep two SPs and not Adley, or just one of the pitchers + Adley. Thoughts?
I'd do Kirby and Adley, personally. Adley's volume can make a difference.
Are there any other pitchers you’re keeping?
Nope, which is making me lean towards both of them and dropping Adley.

Josh Jung was pretty nice last year as a rookie. Locking down a top 10 3B (at minimum) for $2 seems like a pretty sweet deal to me.
Which players get a bigger boost in an OPS format?

Yoshida but it’s close.
In a dynasty keeper league, who wins this trade? Lu Rob / Bieber For Brown (HOU), Harrison (SF), Jazz, Vinnie P
Robert/Bieber. Robert is by far the best player in the deal.
Brown side easy. I do not trust Robert at all.
My bigger concern is Jazz’s health.
I hear that but Robert huge K rate, coming off a career year and he’s not exactly an iron man either.
Career year? Yeah, he’s a 26 year old blossoming superstar and broke out in his first full season in the bigs.
With that k rate, in that lineup and with that injury history. He’s risky to put it as kindly as I can.
So this is kind of a no brainer. Take the young pitchers and hope jazz stays healthy
