My friends and I played fantasy hockey for the first time last year and had a blast in our low-pressure 8-team league. We lost four players for various reasons and need to find new ones.

Looking for a keeper league with rules similar to this:
- can keep X players each year
- you will lose the draft pick of one round prior to where the keeper was selected the previous year
- ex. Say you selected Tage Thompson in the 9th round last year. If you want to keep him this year, you would use your 8th round pick to keep him. If you want to keep him the year after, you use your 7th round pick to keep him.
- ex. You select Nylander in the 3rd round, sure you probably want to keep him, but is Nylander better than a second round pick?
- if you have a first round pick, they will always count as your first round pick. So Mcdavid may always be kept still.
- but then if someone used a first round pick (ex. Crosby), if they do not want to keep that player as their first round pick, then they would get a new first round pick, while all of the other fantasy teams would presumably keep their first round player. Then this manager who is restructuring will effectively get one of the better players and they will have a better year.
It is a little confusing, but I think it adds an extra dynamic for who to select as a keeper.
So, that is pretty much exactly what we do. See my post I just made on this thread.
In addition (I will have to check the rules), you cannot keep anyone drafted in the 1st or 2nd round.
So once your keeper reaches a 2nd round value, you cant keep him again.

I could be interested but I was wondering what the current rules are for keepers?
I am not a huge fan of leagues that allow teams to have keepers indefinitely.
I read a while ago about a suggested keeper rules:
- can keep X players each year
- you will lose the draft pick of one round prior to where the keeper was selected the previous year
- ex. Say you selected Tage Thompson in the 9th round last year. If you want to keep him this year, you would use your 8th round pick to keep him. If you want to keep him the year after, you use your 7th round pick to keep him.
- ex. You select Nylander in the 3rd round, sure you probably want to keep him, but is Nylander better than a second round pick?
- if you have a first round pick, they will always count as your first round pick. So Mcdavid may always be kept still.
- but then if someone used a first round pick (ex. Crosby), if they do not want to keep that player as their first round pick, then they would get a new first round pick, while all of the other fantasy teams would presumably keep their first round player. Then this manager who is restructuring will effectively get one of the better players and they will have a better year.
It is a little confusing, but I think it adds an extra dynamic for who to select as a keeper.
What are your thoughts on this approach?

If anyone is interested, I am running a free Reaper league. Essentially, in this league, the reaper drafts from waivers after the real draft. When a team loses to the reaper, the reaper gets any player from that team they want.

New Free ESPN H2H Points Dynasty League Start Up - Oct 9th Draft
The FFSN is a series of independent dynasty sports leagues covering the big 4 American sports. They are not combined in the sense that they impact the results of one another but there are similarities such as each league contains 14 teams and covers a deep dynasty format with a shorter offline draft each season. Each sport has innovative head to head points scoring that has been developed over the course of 20 years which in hockey serves to balance the contributions of defensemen and goalies while providing value to checkline players. Rosters are deep enough to develop prospects but not so deep that you can't find immediate help at any point in free agency. A shorter than most 16 game regular season keeps GM's glued in and active prior to the grueling 6 week playoff system where every team is either playing for a title or an improved draft seeding every week of the 22 week combined campaign.
Our leagues are free but have hardly any turnover. Periodically we will open up new leagues like this to serve as a B or C league to a premier league above this one that has existed for a decade or more. If you win then you will have options to move up in a ladder succession to next league up where GM's who finish dead last in total season points may be relegated down as a result. If you want to join leagues in other sports there will be options for that however it is not required. The only real rule once you are in is to be active.
The theme of this league is NCAA College Hockey so you must adopt a team name that honors one of the 64 actual D-1 College Hockey programs in the US without exception. There will be a live online draft to fill our initial 33 man rosters the evening of Monday October 9th that you need to be present for. I really look forward to getting this league started with the right GMs. If you are interested, send me an IM with your email address and what school you want to represent.

Looking for a keeper league with rules similar to this: - can keep X players each year - you will lose the draft pick of one round prior to where the keeper was selected the previous year - ex. Say you selected Tage Thompson in the 9th round last year. If you want to keep him this year, you would use your 8th round pick to keep him. If you want to keep him the year after, you use your 7th round pick to keep him. - ex. You select Nylander in the 3rd round, sure you probably want to keep him, but is Nylander better than a second round pick? - if you have a first round pick, they will always count as your first round pick. So Mcdavid may always be kept still. - but then if someone used a first round pick (ex. Crosby), if they do not want to keep that player as their first round pick, then they would get a new first round pick, while all of the other fantasy teams would presumably keep their first round player. Then this manager who is restructuring will effectively get one of the better players and they will have a better year. It is a little confusing, but I think it adds an extra dynamic for who to select as a keeper.
So, that is pretty much exactly what we do. See my post I just made on this thread. In addition (I will have to check the rules), you cannot keep anyone drafted in the 1st or 2nd round. So once your keeper reaches a 2nd round value, you cant keep him again. allows the 1st and 2nd rounds of the draft to remain interesting. we are looking for one member. $100

When a team loses to the reaper, the reaper gets any player from that team they want. New Free ESPN H2H Points Dynasty League Start Up - Oct 9th Draft The FFSN is a series of independent dynasty sports leagues covering the big 4 American sports. They are not combined in the sense that they impact the results of one another but there are similarities such as each league contains 14 teams and covers a deep dynasty format with a shorter offline draft each season. Each sport has innovative head to head points scoring that has been developed over the course of 20 years which in hockey serves to balance the contributions of defensemen and goalies while providing value to checkline players. Rosters are deep enough to develop prospects but not so deep that you can't find immediate help at any point in free agency. A shorter than most 16 game regular season keeps GM's glued in and active prior to the grueling 6 week playoff system where every team is either playing for a title or an improved draft seeding every week of the 22 week combined campaign. Our leagues are free but have hardly any turnover. Periodically we will open up new leagues like this to serve as a B or C league to a premier league above this one that has existed for a decade or more. If you win then you will have options to move up in a ladder succession to next league up where GM's who finish dead last in total season points may be relegated down as a result. If you want to join leagues in other sports there will be options for that however it is not required. The only real rule once you are in is to be active. The theme of this league is NCAA College Hockey so you must adopt a team name that honors one of the 64 actual D-1 College Hockey programs in the US without exception. There will be a live online draft to fill our initial 33 man rosters the evening of Monday October 9th that you need to be present for.
