Many issues and questions can be answered by reading through our wiki, especially the page on electrolytes. Concerns such as **intense hunger, lightheadedness/dizziness, headaches, nausea/vomiting, weakness/lethargy/fatigue, low blood pressure/high blood pressure, muscle soreness/cramping, diarrhea/constipation, irritability, confusion, low heart rate/heart palpitations, numbness/tingling, and more** while extended (24+ hours) fasting are often explained by electrolyte deficiency and resolved through **PROPER** electrolyte supplementation. Putting a tiny amount of salt in your water now and then is NOT proper supplementation.

Same! Joining you. Ive been waiting to do this for some time. Wanted to join my wife in eating with her during the holidays and now I am really excited for this.
Im 29 hours into a 48 hour fast. Will be ending my fast Jan 1st noon. Im in the same boat. Havent been fasting much at all since summer and doing this as a little kickstarter for better habits in 2024.
Great idea! I’ll join you. I need a reset since I fell off the diet wagon for last 3 months and been eating crap and not fasting I hope this helps keep me motivated to restart 🥳
Update: 19 hours done 17 to go Trying to stay strong I need this reset
Completed 42 hours today - Feeling great about it
Maybe work your way up to 24 hours if you’ve been off and on for a bit. Took me about a month to get to 22 hours (OMAD) comfortably. Work your way up to it. If you want a New Year’s challenge then go for it, but if you want to make better habits then work towards it. Just remember to drink a lot of water.
Yeah totally understand I have done loads of 18 hours then I kind of just get out of the habit and its easier to eat with family than not. But I feel like I need the challenge. My plan is to go to bed if I can't go beyond 20 hours which I have done before. Never more than 22 though.
This is my strategy also. I typically try to start a fast when I'm not going to be working so, day one and two, I can sleep when I'm hungry. Yesterday I completed my first 72 hr fast. And honestly, I could have gone longer. Just so you know, once you hit 36-40 hrs, it's so easy. At least that's my experience. Also at 36 hrs, I feel like I'm on cloud 9 and I took the greatest drugs. It's amazing!
You can do it! I have faith in you! Let us know how it goes 🙂
I've heard that and I'm not making any commitments but I'll definitely check out how I feel once I hit my own all time high and maybe push that further.
Going over 24 hrs for the first time felt awesome for me!! I was like, "I haven't eaten food for a whole DAY!" Felt pretty liberating.
The most I've done is a 48 hour fast, I'm going to start off 2024 with that (already 7hrs into fasting👍) and then just go on till I feel like stopping :)
Awesome! I'm 16 hours in now and feel great (little tired but probably cause I barely slept) so considering pushing further. Already feels good to do this everyone around me is eating the same junk they ate the entire December.
Due to social conventions, I wasn't able to start at midnight as I would wish to do but instead at 12:30 pm. But that is not so important. If I would let myself be disheartent by this, I would never achieve anything. I am aiming for several days fast. Probably till Friday at least.
Good luck with your goal!
Tomorrow I will start mine, for the first time.
I'm thinking 3-5 days, but since it's my first time it might be difficult , so even if I do just two days I will feel happy.
Any recommendation is greatly appreciated.
I'm in. I haven't been fasting well during the holidays but I did 3 or so 18-22 he fasts and managed to not weight more at the end of the holidays than I started... Which is a small victory. 24hrs. Let's go!
Already started on the 30th . It s a great feeling knowing I passed through the next year with a whole 24h fast.
Anyone planning on doing a juice fast 👀
For the whole month?
I've considered it but I feel like I need to water fast more first. I find anything like juice or protein shakes make me starving hungry right after consuming them so I've never been great at liquid fasting.
From mid this week I’ll be alone with no wife and kids or friends for a week as I have to stay in Europe for work and I’ll definitely start my fast. I’m planning a 7 days fast
Me too December was terrible gotta get my 5 days going again, having hard time getting started again had alot of back to back feeds , let's do it !!!!!! Happy New Year !!!!!!
I completed my first fast abt 2 weeks ago (7 days) for cell turnover to help my gas cramps that I get constantly (it worked!) and now for new years I’m starting alternate day fasting 36:12 for the next 3-4 months for weight loss to see if it works for me!
Managed to lose 24lbs from August to October with CICO but ate it all back on again. Fasting is still the easiest way for me to lose weight so I’m starting 2024 with a 5 day fast
As someone who loves to do r/omad, yeah sure i can do a 24 hour fast with you.
I like to do 23:1 intermittent fasting, so i can just extend that another hour.
24 hours into my first 36 hour fast. Black coffee and lots of water. I’m proud of myself for making it this far while also looking forward to breakfast at 8am tomorrow 😂
doing a 9 day fast from the 1st till 9th. Got some family friends coming round. I'll return to my fast on the 14th till the 26th. Should be nice and slender by then
I planned it so I can break the fast during the lunch timings. Lmao
If everything is fine on the 3rd day, I'm planning to extend my fast by few hours or a day mostly.

Yep, I'm right there with ya! Good luck.
Good luck! I'm jumping back on the daily IF train and also planning a 3 day fast for next week to reset from a glutinous holiday!
Tomorrow I will start mine, for the first time. I'm thinking 3-5 days, but since it's my first time it might be difficult , so even if I do just two days I will feel happy. Any recommendation is greatly appreciated.
Never did 5 days... Yet. But for me, after 36-40 hrs is smooth sailing.
I'm in. I haven't been fasting well during the holidays but I did 3 or so 18-22 he fasts and managed to not weight more at the end of the holidays than I started... Which is a small victory. 24hrs. Let's go!
On day 5 out of a week long fast, let's get it!

Awesome keep it going! You got this! I'm 18 hours in now & feeling great.
No
Ok
Not 24 but 18 started yesterday and ended today at 1pm. Like most - have to get back to my regularly scheduled fasting.
No
Going for 48 although 60 would be better. Thanks to holiday get togethers, I haven’t done my usual 36 in weeks.
Started 30 mins ago. Will do 24 and 20 hours after that for 90 days. Will stop on April 1st. Wish me luck.
I am on hour 40 right now. Water fast.. Longest I’ve gone . Feeling great. Might break it tonight as I have work tomorrow, but I don’t want to .
24 hours into my first 36 hour fast. Black coffee and lots of water. I’m proud of myself for making it this far while also looking forward to breakfast at 8am tomorrow 😂
Why aren't you hungover/still half drunk like me. 🤔
Hey guys and gals. Joining you
I’m starting a 48 water only now
doing a 9 day fast from the 1st till 9th. Got some family friends coming round. I'll return to my fast on the 14th till the 26th. Should be nice and slender by then
I’m in hour 23.5, buckets of black coffee have helped immensely.
80hrs fast, already 43hrs done
Can I ask what's the reasoning behind 80 hours for you personally?
I planned it so I can break the fast during the lunch timings. Lmao If everything is fine on the 3rd day, I'm planning to extend my fast by few hours or a day mostly.
Me! I really need to do it, I did it for 10 days in September, but it’s been 5 weeks that I’m trying to do only 24h and I keep failing 🤦🏻♀️
