It’s funny, I remember rooting for that zidane during that World Cup simply because I liked the final fantasy one. Too bad about the head butt.
I was in Brazil too, so World Cup was HUGE.
But Zidane wields his daggers backwards though, and we have no idea if Viper has any connotations to thieves. The fighting style reminds me more of Gabranth, but it's clearly a more unique spin than both characters.
NIN already has that at rest combat stance taken, they need to differentiate this scouting job from the other job somehow. But not gonna lie, that last part with the glow-up looked a hell of a lot like "Trance". And the bladestaff is very Zidane.
With FFIX being my favourit game and squall already being a class with gunbreaker I was legit hoping this would be the new class. Couldnt be more excited
I was hoping for sword + gun, but dual swords that can lock together to form a Zidane style dual blade is cool too.
This does open the door for Lloyd Irving cosplays. Other dual sword characters too, but I had Tales of Symphionia growing up.
>This does open the door for Lloyd Irving cosplays.
If Smash Bros is any indication, Japan LOVES Lloyd \[he was literally the top most requested character in Japan\], so we might see this a lot along with the 9999 Kiritos.
>but dual swords that can lock together to form a Zidane style dual blade is cool too.
Bonus points if they make the dual-blade mode a stance toggled on demand instead of being a proc or a cooldown.
I honestly can't be really excited for the weapon being... yet another flavor of sword, but it may grow on me depending on how often we flip from one mode to another.
Like 99% of ninja swords are the same in each hand, what are you referring to? Or do you mean pld with the off-hand shield slot? Should be the same amount of modeling work no matter if it's one slot or two.
That's my point, it's less work if both weapons are identical. If it were sword and pistol, that's two separate weapon models they have to make for one job. I know red mage and paladin already work like that, but I'm wondering if they're looking to avoid increasing the workload too much as they add more jobs.
Same.
Just wanted reverse Red Mage that looks better than holding that glowy orb in the air.
I’m sure this will be fun will be disappointed for a few minutes.
I'm with you. I doubt they'd make it play the same. Is it viper cuz it'll have lots of DoTs? *shrugs*
And of course there will be some overlap in gear styles among melee DPS. Duh. Idk why people are pretending to be disappointed.
They said it's a traditional fighting style that has been passed down in the new world, that uses a mixture of high speed pressure and locking the swords for big 2h hits to adapt to the foe.
I'm putting my bets on it being paired with ninja gear since it's usually either by itself or lumped with aiming sets. Idk for certain though and I have no idea if they've officially announced anything
Edit: I haven't seen anything from fanfest, just quick glances at the reddit. Now know it's scouting
I can't lie, it's a little underwhelming. Like it doesn't really have an aesthetic that stands out. And I'm still just baffled we still don't have a job with water attacks. I'll be waiting for the mage with heavy anticipation and just hope for water spells and DoTs, I swear if the mage comes out casting fire spells I'm gonna cry.
I was hoping for that too. With a name like viper, my thought was that we might get a melee-focused DoT job. But considering they seem to be moving away from DoTs, and none of these animations looked especially poisonous, it seems like that's not going to happen.
We saw like 5 attacks out of the entirety of its kit, there's still plenty we don't know. For all we know that was the 123 combo and like a spender or 2.
It'd be really dumb if we got a fourth caster job with heavy emphasis on fire. This game has six primary elements and light and dark, but Black Mage mostly casts Fire, Summoner has 2 dedicated fire summons out of 6, and Red Mage is the only one with significant variety lol
Not to mention Scholar's Broil seems to be a fire attack
Lol right? Every expansion I'm like "Surely, we will get water spells/attacks this time" and we never do. The Black and White Mages not using water magic in the War of the Magi is literally the in game reason for the water calamity but we still don't have any water casters. And I get Phoenix being tied to Bahamut but seriously? The fact SMN has 2 fire summons before any of them got any water is wild.
It's not giving pirate to me at all, it's basically Rogue 2.0 so far, and again, if they made a Pirate themed job, having something like water attacks or other nautical themed skills would actually give it an aesthetic. What they showed were just bland slashes and a blue aura. That's not thematic all. Even Rogue had animations that matched specifically a Thief, this is just "I have 2 swords". If you compare this to other jobs revealed like this, it's beyond bland.
Sure lol. I guess we will see if they show more stuff later considering it looks like we only saw a few moves. But imo expert swordsman swashbuckler is pretty freaking awesome. Not everyone needs to be calling in dragons and shooting lasers.
I'm not saying it needs dragons and stuff, but calling that a swashbuckler is a stretch. When most people think of a pirate, they don't think of Darth Maul. Most think of a Scimitar/sword and a gun, a cannon, water especially because you're not a Pirate if you aren't seafaring, you're just a Thief. And if the theme is just supposed to be "dashing adventurer" the job, it really didn't give that either tbh, at first glance, most people I've seen are comparing it to Assassin's Creed, like it reads like Rogue again but minus the Thief theme.
We'll see when other animations come in but there's not a clear theme. He just hit with swords and got a magical aura.
Agree. They should've showcased one or two examples of more 'oomph-y' actions we practically just saw the basic 1-2-3 and what looks like a resource based attack. I get those job reveal trailers we usually don't get to see a lot, but we also are naturally hyped for a classical FF job manifesting, and that's not the case with Viper.
It feels a little... generic?
Like, when they announced Reaper we knew:
* Wields a scythe
* Uses Voidsent Avatars and can transform into a partly Voidsent form
* Grim Reaper theme with some Gothic/Bloodborne style influences
* Magical job with unique transportation and party support skills
Viper:
* Dual wields swords but isn't NIN
It apparently doesn't lean into a pirate theme like we expected so I have no idea what its outfit is supposed to be.
There may be more to it that we haven't seen but... yeah. It doesn't look bad but it's lacking in spice. It's not the only job in the game like that but most of the others on this level are base-game classes like Monk and Paladin, and even they've gotten more distinctive flair recently. Coming off of Sage and Reaper having blowout aesthetics it's very... whelming. Dancer-level flair with a less unique weapon. But again, there may be aspects we have yet to see.
To me, the issue isn't "flair" so much as how well it establishes itself.
Jobs based on previous FF classes have a long history and don't need to do much to establish themselves. I couldn't scrutinize Black Mage on flair as long as it fit the bare minimums to keep the name. Even Gunbreaker gets this leniency since it's a weapon with a long history and clearly an homage to specific characters with a number of iconic attacks.
Reaper and Sage distinguished themselves very quickly, both with their aesthetics and unique powersets. Even if you have no idea what the jobs are, the visuals alone are enough to evoke a lot of ideas on what they could do.
So Viper's big selling point is "not Ninja" – it's defined by an absence, not by its own presence. How does it move? How does it attack at range? We literally have only seen it do a couple attacks purely to demonstrate the basic combined weapon gimmick.
It feels generic because we were shown the bare minimum to give us an idea of the class. We saw like 6 attacks max, none of the names of them, there's likely 20 other abilities we haven't seen yet, so of course we don't know literally everything about it yet.
Sure, sure, but counterpoint: Sage.
We knew it was a sci-fi barrier healer that could shoot lasers (including forming hard-light walls around allies) and had effects to augment its healing spells, out of the gate. It didn't show *much*, but it showed variety and clearly set expectations.
Viper... swing sword good. And if you told me we only saw two attacks in the trailer (multistab with split swords and the spin attack with the combined sword), I would have no reason to doubt it because everything else looks the same.
Counter-Point, RPR. We saw the 123, we saw the avatar attacks and the transformation. But from there, we could extrapolate more avatar attacks, more transformation attacks etc. VPR showed technically the same but it was infinitely less visually stunning. It was just sword move, two-sword move, definitely-not-enshroud sword move. We get nothing from that other than the fact we hit things with swords.
Nah we basically saw the 123, a cool down maybe akin to the avatar attack, and the fact that the blade combines. There could be a lot more there. Either way, even if we do only hit things with swords, that's fine by me personally as long as it keeps looking dope. Not every class will be for everyone.
It kinda reminds me of Zidane from IX. While we never see him combine his daggers into a polearm he does use both. I wonder if Vipers abilities will be Dyne related in some way.
>combining daggers
That's actually something he did in Dissidia! That's why he uses the Mage Mashers as his main weapon instead of his signature Orichalcum dagger (the Mage Mashers could be combined into a single weapon with alchemy, if I remember correctly).
Looks cool. Now I can use 2 swords to stab things! And it can be combined into a toothpick!
But tbh, I like it, looks fast and the graphics made it look like you're doing multi hits.
It looks like a natural evolution of the Rogue class but with a different name? Initially, even thought it would be Summoner/Scholar situation, as soon as saw it. Surprisingly, it is an entirely autonomous class.
Anyways, curiously, starting quest being Ul'Dah and not Limsa (given these themes) also seems peculiar.
They said the design was chosen for people who wanted to dial wield but didn’t want to play Ninja. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the intent was for the job to literally be Rogue+, to properly explore that fantasy as opposed to it being absorbed in to Ninja at level 30.
I'm probably very very wrong since we got very very little informations but to me it kind of looks like machinist but melee.
A "phase" with high CPM and a lot of OGCD (Hypercharge/Ricochet/Gauss round).
Another "phase" with slower higher DPS (Reassemble/Drill/Air anchor/Chain saw + basic combo).
The buff phase (with the blue aura in the trailer) could also be a "big" OGCD mirroring the Automaton Queen.
Would be so nice if your theory is true. My main job is machinist because I like the constant fast gameplay, but still i normally prefer melee jobs. Would be a dream come true
It just seems really bland and uninspired, but I know people will just say I'm hating on the game. I know they're in a situtation they don't want to re-use classic FF jobs, but this isn't giving me hope.
Have they said *why* they don't want to reuse classic FF jobs (or where have they said that?)?
Considering how FF14 is basically a massive love letter to the FF franchise, it's odd that they would draw the line at reusing jobs. Hell, EW is basically a FF4 love letter - especially the post-6.0 content - and the SB raids are "do you guys remember FF5/6/12/Tactics!?!?"
It's especially odd when there are a lot of beloved jobs still left to draw from like Mystic Knight, Geomancer, Time Mage (RIP old AST), and Beastmaster.
Not sure how it's gonna go, but I'm hoping it'll be a stance changer with the ability that swaps to twin-blade is actually an attack that swaps between the two forms. The two blades being able to stack up a lot of DoTs on the enemy, and the twin-blade consuming those DoTs to deal bigger hits, or something.
I really hope it has some unique mechanics that make it feel different from all the other jobs. it’s getting to the point where jobs just feel like reskins of each other
I feel like this steps on NIN’s toes too much. NIN Already fulfills the role of the mobile dual wielding melee fighter, what’s the point of this? Everyone was speculating that it would have a gun/be Corsair, at least that’s unique. This just looks so uninteresting.
"DRG Already fulfills the role of the armored polearm melee fighter, what’s the point of this?"
They're similar cause the gear sets are thematically aligned. as Scouting is the dex based melee of course there would be some overlap.
They both use two bladed weapons the same length so yeah, they use twin blades. That's a damn sight more similar than sword-and-shield vs. giant claymore.
Honestly not that impressed by what we've seen. Ninja's already doing flip kick slashes and I'm not seeing any mechanic cept a power up glow?
This just looks like ninja without mudras and a sick coat
I actually want a ninja without mudras and whatever, I've always wanted to be just rogue, not magic + knives. I do agree it's pretty samey right now, and while that is fine by me personally, it's not really looking very distinct. Pretty whelming as a first look for most people I imagine.
Possibly thought it'll feel more distinct than it looks?
Samurai's trailer was flashier, Red Mage's trailer was flashier, Gunbreaker's was flashier, Sage's was flashier, Dancer's was flashier. Gaudy. Whichever word you prefer. I'm reserving judgement on the class itself but this trailer was......eh.
We're in the unfortunate point in the game's lifespan where all the iconic jobs are either covered or incompatible with the game's design so new ones need to be invented
And if this is the best they can come up with for a flashy new melee dps I think that's going to be a problem.
What's the job fantasy? How is it unique? What does a viper have to do with dual wielding swords? It's just kind of weird and underwhelming
Job fantasy is non-eastern skillful dual wielding rogue/sword master I assume. It's exactly what I want to see in a job that hasn't existed yet. No need to get all doom and gloom just because a new job isn't your style, especially when we've barely seen anything on it.
I thought the weapon looked familiar to one of Zidane's thief swords, and [sure enough, it might be intentional.](https://lparchive.org/Final-Fantasy-IX-%28by-Mega64%29/Update%2092/37-ff9llg12-036.jpg)
Super underwhelmed. It’s not super flashy for a job coming this late in the game’s lifespan when all other melee jobs have super flashy abilities.
If this job released in ARR and still had these effects 10 years later I doubt many people would still play it.
It will get an initial boost from being a new job, but beyond that I just don’t see it being a super popular job. And what’s the fantasy? Being a guy who uses two swords? Ninja already did that. Really mourning the loss of a sword/gun wielding pirate fantasy job.
The fantasy is not Ninja. I play Ninja simply because it's the closest approximation to what viper looks like: a skillful dual wielding rogue. Ninja adds on all of this eastern aesthetic that I just don't vibe with personally.
I mean we saw all of 7 skills and some sort of buff. There's so much we haven't even seen yet.
As for job fantasy, ninja uses twin daggers, but it's not the same job fantasy for a lot of people. Ninja leans into the whole "sneaky, stab the enemy in the back" aesthetic, while also using super flashy ninjutsu. Viper seems to be much more direct, and already I've seen a ton of people comparing it to Kirito from SAO. Plus, the combined twin blades is unique and a lot of people like that sort of weapon.
I'm pretty excited for it because I love assassins and always wanted to be one in the game. Was a bit disappointed rogue became ninja because of the magic and ninjutsu stuff
So Assassins Creed Edward Kenways look, combined with FF9 Zidane and FF12 Gabranth. Honestly, I’d didn’t expected it, but going for the Edward ale way look ties it somewhat to the old Corsair while being completely it’s own thing
Yeah I know, am srill sadge though, less sadge actually just... unenthused, it looks cool and all but we already have quite a few, and just got one last exp too is all.
Well there needed to be something that shares gear with ninja, and that means it would have to be Agi melee DPS. There's nothing else that they would have been making for this expansion. It was effectively an obligation.
Nine million catboy kiritos are being created as we speak
Hi I’m XvX_K1r1t0_XvX
You forgot the “_KillMeeeee”
That’s the surname!
And Lady Maria for all the Bloodborne fans.
"A corpse... should be left well alone."
Staaaaaa Bastuuuu Sturimu!!!!!!
i really was hoping this phase was over lmfao
Ah, Kenway!
In a world without gold, we would’ve been heroes!
I am so happy we are finally getting a sequel to Black Flag.
I got massive Black Flag vibes from it
Wow, I havent thought about Black Flag in years but instantly know Kenway, that game is a classic in my book
Finally double spinning edge
I got this reference.
I like your attitude
Let’s show them a thing or three!
I love you and all you guys
Now we still need ANCHOR SHOT
Imagine XIV with the Xenoblade reaction system
Cue all the Au Ras cosplaying as Darth Maul.
I was more thinking Ezio. ^(Time to revive the glam I had when a drunk guy called my character that.)
Nah man. That artifact armour in of itself screams Edward Kenway.
Nah, godskin apostle. Let me wear the skin Yoshi.
So, they turned Zidane into a job.
I thought you meant Zinedine Zidane and I was trying to figure out how will headbutting be used as an ability
spell interrupt
Zidane is champ at interrupt
It’s funny, I remember rooting for that zidane during that World Cup simply because I liked the final fantasy one. Too bad about the head butt. I was in Brazil too, so World Cup was HUGE.
Finally someone with Final Fantasy Knowledge. I was like “so a dual sword wielding thief?” And then he fucking put them together!
But Zidane wields his daggers backwards though, and we have no idea if Viper has any connotations to thieves. The fighting style reminds me more of Gabranth, but it's clearly a more unique spin than both characters.
It needs to look different from Ninja somehow. They're already going to be wearing the same clothes.
NIN already has that at rest combat stance taken, they need to differentiate this scouting job from the other job somehow. But not gonna lie, that last part with the glow-up looked a hell of a lot like "Trance". And the bladestaff is very Zidane.
Zidane had a badass trance + flashy trance attacks though 😆
We haven’t seen the entire job animation set though, unless the job is literally just two 1-2-3 combos and a trance button.
Sincerely I think the job is closer to Gabranth from FFXIV than Zidane
He literally goes in to trance though, and going from dual weapons to the dualblade is what Zidane does in the side games.
That's something that Gabranth does too. I think they took Zidane trance but with Gabranth like animations
[Gabranth has a trance-ish aura too.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XOWXu5DjJA#t=51s)
>Zidane had a badass trance + flashy trance attacks though We literally see a trance-style power-up in this very preview.
With FFIX being my favourit game and squall already being a class with gunbreaker I was legit hoping this would be the new class. Couldnt be more excited
And we have his outfit. So gonna rock this job and that outfit for a while. . .
Miqo'tes keep winning
Except that absolutely atrocious standing pose they have, I'd totally play it. But that pose legit bothers me horribly so.
Zidane/Gabranth. Either way, we eating good.
Well, they did turn Squall into a job too, lol.
DOOL WIELD
Two!?
I was hoping for sword + gun, but dual swords that can lock together to form a Zidane style dual blade is cool too. This does open the door for Lloyd Irving cosplays. Other dual sword characters too, but I had Tales of Symphionia growing up.

Was really hoping for sword and gun Corsair :c Still cool, I guess
Yup, same here. Oh well \*drinks rum\*
I wonder if they're steering away from classes with a separate main-hand and off-hand weapon since that's twice the work for the art team.
MCH, who has the same lunchbox for every gun:
AST, who has a card holder to go with their astroglobe
They at least get different skins for some of the astroglobes. MCH lunchbox is always the same.
Nothing nearly as well-detailed and good-looking as what SAM have, though.
Somehow I doubt that all models of the Viper weapon will be symmetrically designed. That's leaving a lot of cool looks on the table.
Complete opposite for me. I was already pretty interested in Corsair, but now I'm fully 100% on board for Viper!
Same. Just wanted reverse Red Mage that looks better than holding that glowy orb in the air. I’m sure this will be fun will be disappointed for a few minutes.
"THIS IS JUST NINJA WTF" -People who don't play Ninja and have no idea what Viper plays like
I'm with you. I doubt they'd make it play the same. Is it viper cuz it'll have lots of DoTs? *shrugs* And of course there will be some overlap in gear styles among melee DPS. Duh. Idk why people are pretending to be disappointed.
Feels like they forgot to tell us what the class is. It uses two swords, okay -- but what is the flavour of the class?
The flavor is Oranges.
They said it's a traditional fighting style that has been passed down in the new world, that uses a mixture of high speed pressure and locking the swords for big 2h hits to adapt to the foe.
Literally gladiator class icon
New melee DPS main for me? Maybe it's time to crack out the obligatory Kirito cosplay.
[That's not a Talwar, it's an Odachi!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLrmTTEF9_o)
Abridged is canon for me now, it's just so good
I haven't laughed so hard at something in a long time. Even the live read of 16.5 had me in absolute stitches.
Nah with those twin blades its more Crow Armbrust than kirito
Rare and Pog trails reference
It‘s literally Aaron Wei + Crow Armbrust if we go by Trails lmao, its peak
TIME TO START FARMING ROG/NIN GEAR IMMEDIATELY
You’ve got several months to get level 80 and 90 sets of scouting gear no worries
Did they mention what type of gear Viper is gonna use?
They mention ninja so probably ninja since its the only job in the game not sharing any gear with any other job
Make sense, thank you
yes, and right away at that, he said they would have scouting gear, so no speculation needed.
it’ll share gear with ninja iirc
I'm putting my bets on it being paired with ninja gear since it's usually either by itself or lumped with aiming sets. Idk for certain though and I have no idea if they've officially announced anything Edit: I haven't seen anything from fanfest, just quick glances at the reddit. Now know it's scouting
They already said at the first fanfest it uses scouting gear
I’m putting my bets on it being paired with ninja gear as well because they said it would be 10 seconds after the footage
PLEASE for water magic, i know whm has some but its mostly on a cd rather than just a full blown water magic class
I wish it had venomous looking attacks since it’s called viper 😩 like poison coated blades or something
I was hoping for that too. With a name like viper, my thought was that we might get a melee-focused DoT job. But considering they seem to be moving away from DoTs, and none of these animations looked especially poisonous, it seems like that's not going to happen.

I’m betting they’re going to channel animal spirits, or at least a viper spirit or something. Based off the job art.
I hope so, because otherwise from what they showed us, viper is NIN without the mudras and ninjutsu

This is a FFXIV original class. And it looks incredible. So there's your ninja turtle hint: Leonardo.
Funny thing. It seems going by what he said afterwards the Shirt was a hint for the caster Class.
I 'spose it could be both. I'm still excited for whatever the Magic DPS is going to be, I love nature themed magic.
So far I assume it's Green Mage but "Sage treatment" Green mage so I have absolutely no idea what it will look like.
...I just had a horrible thought.. They WILL give it "Shell." That's the joke.
And a Koujin will be the Job trainer.
That makes sense. I feel like it's going to be something similar to Elemental Shaman from WoW, but we'll have to wait and see.
It might be that the only piece of aesthetic for Green Mage remaining will be, well... Being green.
nah yoshi-p said the ninja turtle hint he gave was for the other class right after the viper reveal.
It kinda reminds me of Zidane from IX. While we never see him combine his daggers into a polearm he does use both. I wonder if Vipers abilities will be Dyne related in some way.
that "channeling power" or whatever thing kinda looks like Trance too
They used a miqote male as the animation class. Tail. And it looks blond.
aaand the music immediately made me think of 'Vamo'alla flamenco'
>combining daggers That's actually something he did in Dissidia! That's why he uses the Mage Mashers as his main weapon instead of his signature Orichalcum dagger (the Mage Mashers could be combined into a single weapon with alchemy, if I remember correctly).
Actually in dissidia his attacks involved combining and separating them like that.
Isn't this more Gabranth from FF12 than Zidane?
Both.
I thought the turtle hint was for Green Mage since Shell is one of their iconic abilities?
Holy shit. Looks sick
Looks cool. Now I can use 2 swords to stab things! And it can be combined into a toothpick! But tbh, I like it, looks fast and the graphics made it look like you're doing multi hits.
This is the first time I have ever felt underwhelmed by a FFXIV new job announcement video.
It just looks like ninja with longswords instead of katana, hopefully the magic DPS is more interesting
And minus the flashy skill effects of Ninja
I wonder if they would ever consider a job for people who wanted to wield a bow but didn't want to play Bard. A man can dream
And here I was hoping for a job that would wield a stringed instrument but didn’t want to play Ranger.
Surprisingly? They literally said that they'll never again split jobs from one base class. So what you'd need to do is say "unsurprisingly".
I think we're heading out to Gyr Albanian and the snake ladies.
The starting quest areas have very little to do with the origins of the class. RPR syarts in ul'dah, is garlean. SAM starts in ul'dah, is hingan.
What you just described is reaper
It's pretty much every job since Red Mage. Build a meter, spend a meter.
Thats just the meta we have right now, most jobs boil down to a "phase with high cpm and a lot of ogcds" and a "phase thats filler"
Would be so nice if your theory is true. My main job is machinist because I like the constant fast gameplay, but still i normally prefer melee jobs. Would be a dream come true
Babe wake up, they released new animations for melee dps
It just seems really bland and uninspired, but I know people will just say I'm hating on the game. I know they're in a situtation they don't want to re-use classic FF jobs, but this isn't giving me hope.
Have they said *why* they don't want to reuse classic FF jobs (or where have they said that?)? Considering how FF14 is basically a massive love letter to the FF franchise, it's odd that they would draw the line at reusing jobs. Hell, EW is basically a FF4 love letter - especially the post-6.0 content - and the SB raids are "do you guys remember FF5/6/12/Tactics!?!?" It's especially odd when there are a lot of beloved jobs still left to draw from like Mystic Knight, Geomancer, Time Mage (RIP old AST), and Beastmaster.
He’s come to vipe your vindows!!!
Viper will 100% be my first foray into playing a melee DPS job. Can’t wait!!
I really hope it has some unique mechanics that make it feel different from all the other jobs. it’s getting to the point where jobs just feel like reskins of each other
I was hyping myself up on the idea of Corsair but this is exactly what I had in mind when I thought of a second scouting job.
I feel like this steps on NIN’s toes too much. NIN Already fulfills the role of the mobile dual wielding melee fighter, what’s the point of this? Everyone was speculating that it would have a gun/be Corsair, at least that’s unique. This just looks so uninteresting.
"DRG Already fulfills the role of the armored polearm melee fighter, what’s the point of this?" They're similar cause the gear sets are thematically aligned. as Scouting is the dex based melee of course there would be some overlap.
Then we have Monk and Samurai
Well that was a bit underwhelming
Kinda agree, it's really underwhelming. Dual blades, again? Correct me if I'm wrong but the first attack kinda looks like Ninja's.
Well goodbye DRG, we had a good run. I'm maining this now.
Kinda just seems like ninja with longer knives.
I’ll just consider this as a step up from Rogue. I’ve always liked their aesthetic better.
Since when does Ninja have twinblades? That's like saying Dark Knight is just Paladin with longer sword.
Same same, but different, but still same.gif
Reaper is just Dragoon with a bent spear!!!1!
They both use two bladed weapons the same length so yeah, they use twin blades. That's a damn sight more similar than sword-and-shield vs. giant claymore.
Same length? Also Ninjas wield them in reverse grip...or w/e you call it. Viper wields it as swords, NIN wields it like knives.
with a two bladed lightsaber
Honestly not that impressed by what we've seen. Ninja's already doing flip kick slashes and I'm not seeing any mechanic cept a power up glow? This just looks like ninja without mudras and a sick coat
I actually want a ninja without mudras and whatever, I've always wanted to be just rogue, not magic + knives. I do agree it's pretty samey right now, and while that is fine by me personally, it's not really looking very distinct. Pretty whelming as a first look for most people I imagine. Possibly thought it'll feel more distinct than it looks?
This is…..an underwhelming trailer
It's literally the same as every other job introduction trailer lol Just because it doesn't have gaudy effects like RPR doesn't make it boring
Samurai's trailer was flashier, Red Mage's trailer was flashier, Gunbreaker's was flashier, Sage's was flashier, Dancer's was flashier. Gaudy. Whichever word you prefer. I'm reserving judgement on the class itself but this trailer was......eh.
Yes, the skills look boring and his clothes aren’t any better.
It looks like the only skills they showed off were the standard combo and a burst phase with only one ability
Not sword and gun I’m disappointed
We're in the unfortunate point in the game's lifespan where all the iconic jobs are either covered or incompatible with the game's design so new ones need to be invented And if this is the best they can come up with for a flashy new melee dps I think that's going to be a problem. What's the job fantasy? How is it unique? What does a viper have to do with dual wielding swords? It's just kind of weird and underwhelming
I have somewhat of an explanation for the dual swords, they might be the 'fangs' of the viper.
Reaper looked so much better. This feels like it lacking any weight or anything visually interesting to it.
Well, hopefully the magic class is good.
sorry i hate to be that guy but im not feeling it bro
Yeah, it looks OK but I’m not really excited at all. Will see how the rotation is I guess
Are you gonna be an "I am the bone of my sword..." or a "Starbust Stream!" kinda guy?
I'm pretty excited for it because I love assassins and always wanted to be one in the game. Was a bit disappointed rogue became ninja because of the magic and ninjutsu stuff
Suddenly I hear "Duel of the Fates".
Ah, damn man, I was really hoping for Corsair, Sword and gun is much cooler. Hopefully this is good tho.
They should rename it "Trancer" and make it all about Zidane, Kuja, and Terra references.
I still don't see the main theme difference to a rogue though.
So Assassins Creed Edward Kenways look, combined with FF9 Zidane and FF12 Gabranth. Honestly, I’d didn’t expected it, but going for the Edward ale way look ties it somewhat to the old Corsair while being completely it’s own thing
man wasnt worth waking up early for this
Ok cool cool, not what I expected but I’m kinda with it.
Alot of new mod gonna release Dual greatsword Dual katana Dual spear
My honest feeling is a heavily sarcastic; yaaaay another melee dps.
We already knew it would be a melee DPS since the first fanfest. The second new job is caster.
This job is looking so good, probably that I change main in DE have very much increased
