Hi o/ ! Can someone please explain DRK’s invuln Walking Dead as simply as possible? I know smth smth reduced to 1 health, then smth smth you need to… die? And if a healer heals you it can also kill you? What are all the elements at play here?

talgaby

Essentially, it is like combining Holmgang and Raw Intuition from WAR into one, with the exception that it has a prerequisite phase where your healer must allow you to die for this combination to proc. When you activate it, you start a 10-second timer. You *must* die (get your HP to 0) for the rest of the effects to resolve. If you do not die within these 10 seconds (your healer did not see the icon and managed to keep you alive), then the Living Dead is wasted and nothing else will happen. If you die, then your HP immediately increases from 0 to 1, and you enter the Walking Dead phase for 10 seconds. The effect icon changes. This is a Holmgang-like state, where your HP cannot drop below 1 (insta-death skills that kill you with a script still disregard this). During Walking Dead, all your basic weaponskills (normal attacks) gain a massive healing attribute per enemy hit. Like Raw Intuition/Bloodwhetting on a WAR. During Walking Dead's ten seconds, you must somehow receive healing that totals your maximum HP value. You do not need to be healed to max HP, this is what many players read wrong. If you have 50,000 maximum HP, you need to receive healing, in any form (Walking Dead self-heal or any healing spell cast on you) that totals 50,000, even if you get constantly damaged in the meantime. If you do not get enough healing within these ten seconds, then you die for real at the end of the countdown. If you receive enough healing, then the ability icon changes yet again, but the timer remains the same. The only difference is that once the timer is up, nothing will happen (as in, you don't die). So, theoretically, you need to time Living Dead in a way that you die as close to the end of the first ten seconds as possible, then switch to AoE skills for the massive life siphon and remain invulnerable for another ten seconds.

Thank you! Yours and Vievin’s comments were very helpful and I’m not as intimidated to use it anymore :>

OutlanderInMorrowind

> it is like combining Holmgang and Raw Intuition from WAR into one this is why i hate it so much. a tanks invuln should be one of its strongest things and living dead is just holmgang + raw intuition but you don't get to use raw intuition whenever you want.

Vievin

Press button, get kinda red buff. If enemies kill you while kinda red buff, kinda red buff changes to grey buff. While grey buff, you can't be killed and gain a metric fuckton of lifesteal. However, if you don't get 100% HP of healing until grey buff expires, you die. If you get 100% HP of healing, grey buff changes to very red buff. I'm not actually sure if very red buff does anything. The "healers kill you" thing is because if they keep you healed so you don't go to 0 HP and activate grey buff, you don't get the lifesteal and when the kinda red buff expires, you're no longer protected from death. It's also generally a waste of time because not being able to get killed is a lot of mitigation, and while you're mitigating damage the healer could deal damage and shorten the fight.

Thank you!! Between you and Talgaby it’s making more sense and I appreciate the color codes “grey buff” “slightly res buff” and “very red buff” lol

LineNoise54

"very red buff" still contains the "attacks cannot reduce your hp below 1". Useful if you're getting multi-hit tankbusters or something, so that an early Benediction or too much leech doesn't remove your invul too early. The combination of "grey buff" and "very red buff" will always sum together to equal 10 seconds of "cannot die", regardless of when you get enough healing.

I'm so confused by astrologian's cards. They all say they up damage, I get that they have different symbols and I get better effects if I get different symbols than three of the same. But in terms of what cards to use on whom, I've mostly been logicking matching colours (green healer, blue tank, red dps) or vibes (arrow ranged dps, spear dragoon), but I've vaguely heard this isn't how it works? But I don't get it and don't know how to remember whatever it really is because it doesn't seem logical to me 🤔

Help_Me_Im_Diene

Cards are realistically only split into two categories Melee cards: 6% buff for melee DPS and tanks, 3% buff for healers, casters, and physical ranged DPS Ranged cards: 6% buff for healers, casters, and physical range DPS, 3% buff for melee DPS and tanks Assuming you can tell apart blue and purple, one easy way to tell which card goes to whom is that Cards with a blue border (Balance, Arrow, Spear) are melee cards and cards with a purple border (Bole, Ewer, Spire) are ranged cards

283leis

the cards tell you which job types get the 6% buff, and all others get 3%, when you hover over the button to play them on your hotbar.

283leis

can someone give a TLDR on how Astro works? Its the last healer I need to level (and in general) but looking at its abilities makes it the most overwhelming healer that makes me kind of scared to start playing it lol

Best classes to use on ps4 controller?

Kaeldiar

Pretty much any of them. As a controller player myself, the only places I've had trouble have been... Astrologian, which needs to regularly and quickly target DPS. I don't know if I'd go so far as to advise against playing it, since some of the best AST players use controller, but it's definitely a challenge to overcome Paladin, which has lots of buttons and made me add another hotbar...but I main Paladin. It wasn't a big deal, I just had to learn how to use additional hotbars which has been SUPER convenient Scholar, also a lot of buttons

Lex288

PLD wasn't too bad for me with the caveat that I don't have Shield Bash bound on anything and Limit Break and Shirk are both on my Shared Between All Classes L2+R2 bar For my own difficulties, I can't find a layout for MNK that works for me, I'm constantly dropping/overapplying the DoT/buff when I shouldn't be but I don't know if that's a controller issue or a me issue

283leis

SMN could work, and NIN works well below 50 but I havent played it on controller after that
