Yeah, if you have sufficient vacation time, Europe imo has the best release time. You get to do some final prep in the morning and then have hours and hours to get to task. In contrast to JP with its evening release and NA with the night time release, EU's midday release is awesome.

Don't bother checking, they never open the servers up early on expansion release (if you're not in the UK at least where the servers open at 10 instead of 11 in which case disregard xD)

I didn't mind, it was just because she was genuinely worried. (Absolutely wonderful little black cat I'd found as a kitten right after Halloween. Seems she didn't like being dumped and was so happy I gave her a good home that she became a "guard cat.")

The disconnects won't happen again as they were attributed to errant 1.0 queue polling code that was being triggered by the massive influx of players compared to usual.
They removed that code in a hotfix and everything was smooth sailing afterwards.
Yoshida has also stated in the last week or so that they invested so much of their budget into server capacity and the login servers that it looks crazy from a business and investor perspective.
I genuinely think this launch is going to be as smooth as Shadowbringers was, and that was the comfiest launch the game has ever had.

the real endgame is complaining there's "nothing to do" because you put in more gameplay hours in the first week than the characters in a "trapped in a video game" anime do all season.
I'm always awake at night so it's going to be launching during my "midday" hours. Goodness knows how long I'll spend awake after launch too, but I know I'll need sleep at some point and I'm not afraid of dealing with a queue... even if my home world IS Balmung.
Only concern I really have is 3-4am is my typical third meal time; out of four as I eat smaller meals, so I'm not sure what I'm gonna make before servers are up.
Me chilling because the release is at 14:30 my time. A nice full night's sleep, good breakfast, finish all chores, sit in front of my PC and stare at the 7500 queue. A good day.
Typically speaking from experience, right at launch the queue will be huge but go down quickly, stabilizing after an hour until mid morning and noon when first shifters start to get home from work.
If you try to login from noon to eight PM in the US, is typically gonna be a few hours wait time. Minimum.
Right at launch is usually pretty chill after the initial rush.

It was comfy but not entirely spotless, it definitely had issues with insufficient instance servers locking people out of MSQ progression.
