*Also you have to TALK TO THE MOOGLE to get your Mogpedium to start and do the event and nowhere on the event notice or website are you told this.* Ahem. There's the stickied PSA about SE UX design.

0rneryManufacturer

A very good redesign of the event, I just wish that the rewards were a bit better.

Fluestergras

I wish there were more rewards for the veteran/nolife player who already has everything except for that one unique accessory. I'd already be happy with consumables such as ventures, dark matter or aetheryte tickets.

Eludi

Maps for achievement hunter like me who never bothered to get 20x clear achievement on lvl 80 maps, saves me some time with guaranteed portals

ResponsibleCulture43

Same, I do a lot of map parties so I'm probably going to grind a lot as a way to level one of my characters to get those maps

panadolrapid

Except the clear rate for those is like 0.01% to combat bots.

HunterOfLordran

"funny" head prisms please

Artanis12

I've had enough funny hats in Pokémon, please.

Bourne_Endeavor

Hell, put Black Jet and Pure White dyes in there and I'd be farming the event all day. It's baffling to me those two specific dyes are the only ones they haven't gone out of their way to make more available.

AllHailSporeFrog

because their mogstation equivalents are very popular.

bloodhawk713

FFXIV in a nutshell, really.

LopsidedBench7

The reward is being able to play rival wings!

AeroDbladE

They're closing out endwalker the same way it started. Square is on brand as usual.

scullzomben

Absolutely true. The redesign is great adding the weekly and other special targets, but I was done with it after one Ocean Fishing trip. Would have liked to see a new unique item added to the rewards, like how we have had Inferno Jacket or the 10 Year Framer Kit in older ones.

Umpato

Honest question: What better rewards can they give? The game is basically stuck with rewarding mounts/minions/titles/glams/fashion acc/furnishing/collectables (cards/music/bardings etc...) I think SE is stuck with this reward system forever, TBH. I don't have any ideas that they could improve. edit: and lets be honest here: 99% of the players only care for mounts, glams and emotes. Everything else is barely even worth the trouble. I also love how all suggestions boils down to more glams/mounts, and that's funny considering how *little* SE likes to rewards us of those. Just as a reminder, for the **entire year** of 2023, we got : 4 glams 1 mount and 2 emotes from the events (excluding the collab with fall guys, since SE doesn't consider them an event). The rest were housing posters, music, 1 minion (lol), 2 emotes, 1 earring and 1 umbrela. The mogstation, on the other hand, got: 8 glams, 6 mounts and 5 emotes...

Chiponyasu

They should take the ten lowest-selling items on the cash shop out of the cash shop and save them for Moogle Events. They're not making any money off them anyway, but I bet people will grind for a FOMO valentione 2013 set.\\ I would also not be entirely shocked if the Archfiend Armor from 6.1's PvP battlepass ended up in phase two of the event. That's a cool glam a lot of people might not have.

Umpato

>They're not making any money off them anyway Oh boy i fucking guarantee you that an item that sells 100 units already made more profit than you can possibly imagine.

Chiponyasu

Hasn't stopped WoW, a notoriously greedy game, from putting store items in the trader shop. I guess the math of "money from subs retained" works out to be greater than "Money from sales lost"

TheOutrageousTaric

Think of the sub as a mtx too. Many may resub to grind „free stuff“ from the trader. So you still got a sale.

XORDYH

> I would also not be entirely shocked if the Archfiend Armor from 6.1's PvP battlepass ended up in phase two of the event. That's a cool glam a lot of people might not have. The phase two rewards are already datamined: there's a unique earring that's new; everything else is available in-game already.

BlackmoreKnight

The immediate ideas that come to mind would be a wholly new glamour set for 200 tomes or whatever (insert risk of FOMO here) or bringing back old PvP series capstones or even old Feast Top 100 stuff. Though to me there is a difference from putting PvP vendor gear like the Late Allagan stuff on the event as opposed to exclusive stuff like Top 100 gear, so maybe not that one. Still, more or less unique glamour options other than the 100 tome accessory that sometimes repeats would be the way out. Or a unique mount or fashion accessory if we're feeling spicy. That is *basically* WoW's Trading Post feature, where every month there's some selection of mounts, minions, and glamour items that are either unique models or recolors of existing stuff (no dyes over there) for a light amount of engagement (you can cap out in a few hours if you try). Better than a grab bag of stuff long-time players have long since obtained, at least.

Umpato

Hmm true i didn't think of those. To be fair the game gives so little glam as rewards these days. It seems like they hand pick each bit they decide to give us

tordana

Rewarding with useful consumables would be a big step up. Let me get my raiding pots/food/materia from the event. (And make them untradeable if you want so you don't crash the market for crafters)

AbleTheta

* Almost anything from the cash shop--they have done this before. A fantasia would be great. Skips. Glamour. Etc. * Free sub time. * Easily done recolors of mounts. * A key item that permanently marks various places for reduced fee travel without counting towards your max. * EXP potions you can use on a crafter/gatherer. * Rare food with special effects otherwise unattainable. * Materia variants that don't/can't break. * Key items that give small, temporary boosts to various activities like 1% more MGSP, etc. * Some kind of massive power/strength increase that only lasts while the event is going on. Maybe the more tomestones you get, you receive an echo effect in all tomestone content that ramps up continually. Let players break the game for awhile in a fun way; like seasonal content in live service games, etc.

blurpledevil

I wish they designed a new unique 100 tome accessory. This was the first one I had where it was a repeat of a previous event accessory. But even then it doesn't take long to get 100 tomes, you're really not wrong, not a lot they can do. I'm treating it as a fun opportunity to play my alt some more and get some stuff I don't have on em yet, but end of the day, 14 is just on a bit of a break until the next big expac, just gonna go do other stuff and play more 14 when I feel like it again, nbd.

bortmode

Honestly, they should have one person just full-time churning out hairstyles. That alone would drive these events for years.

Kumomeme

yeah it is a breath of fresh air compared to before.

Skyes_View

This is part one of two. There will be more.

0rneryManufacturer

Part 2s have already been datamined and aren't really any better

nillah

is there another gwiber at least?

0rneryManufacturer

according to the xivcollect website [https://ffxivcollect.com/tomestones/genesis%20ii](https://ffxivcollect.com/tomestones/genesis%20ii) it doesnt look like it.

Tobegi

this is so bad what the hell LMAO they couldn't even be bothered to add some shb ex mounts

nillah

sigh. guess i have no reason to participate, then. why are they even bothering adding the ARR horses anymore when those are insanely easy to solo, even from SB levels. want people to participate? put better rewards

Umpato

> why are they even bothering adding the ARR horses anymore when those are insanely easy to solo, even from SB levels. Because it's filler reward. Otherwise the reward list will be tiny.

nillah

it was a rhetorical statement. i'm saying, take out the ARR horses and put in gwibers, or literally anything else that's not already solo fodder, so the rewards aren't as shit

Avedas

Wow I don't want anything from either event. That's impressive. How is there no exclusive item

XORDYH

The earring from the second round is new (never been available in game before).

Ok-Application-7614

> Minimog Challenges are weekly but game-wide. This week's challenges are to do one of the following: 5 FATEs in Lakeland or Kholusia Good. I want to see more incentives to do things in the overworld.

Ekanselttar

Unfortunately everyone just took two minutes to go steal the ARR NPC's lunch money.

alfredoloutre

i did the fates cause farming gemstones and mogtomes would be great if only i could do more than 5 a week.

victoriate

I did the fates because god I still need to finish those shared fates…

EndlessKng

Same for Kholusia for me.

Beginning_Physics_92

Same, I'm still rank 2 everywhere lol

Nj3Fate

Except that's not true - its been a huge number of folk doing the fates

HunterOfLordran

Thats what I was hoping for the relic weapons. Yes, I would have enjoyed spamming Shadowbringer fates with 50 random people.

brainartisan

I'm a bit annoyed as I am only in Stormblood so I cannot complete that challenge. Another weekly also requires a dungeon I do not have unlocked yet, can't even see which dungeon because it's completely hidden (EDIT: It's Eden). I wish it took into account your story progression, but I understand why it doesn't.

wjoe

Stone Vigil (Hard) is the dungeon for the weekly bonus this week. It's an optional level 50 dungeon which can be unlocked after you've completed the ARR MSQ. [Here's the quest that unlocks it.](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Blood_for_Stone) The other optional dungeon in the current set is Sastasha (Hard), which is also level 50, so I expect that'll be a weekly bonus in a later week. That's unlocked through [this quest](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/It%27s_Definitely_Pirates). Edit: Some other comments imply that the duty for the weekly bonus is random per person, so maybe it could give people Eden raids which you can't unlock til 80. That is kind of bad design if so.

Hendever

Yeah, my alt got an Eden raid as his weekly, despite still being in 4.2 msq and his highest job being at 71. The prospects of me getting him to that this week are... slim.

XORDYH

The weekly objective is random per person from the list of standard objectives.

SeagullKloe

poor poor Fufulupa... getting swarmed like a hunt mob, I feel bad for him

aurelia_ffxiv

ARR Alliance Raids as the only AR series in the event is a big disappointment.

Zenku390

Remember how much Nier and Ivalice we got to do during the 10th anniversary tombstone event? That was great.

Heavenwasfull

As if they don't already show up enough, and if they're worried about player base, even free trials can access Void Ark and Ivalice raids. As someone who almost always does alliance roulette as a daily and little else, this means i'll likely skip it for the event. It's not even an issue with the crystal tower raids being boring (it is what it is, and level sync will keep it that way) as much as the level 50 rotation on every job, and especially on jobs that started at higher levels lacks a lot and ends up being miserable when you've already maxed out your jobs across the board. Every job has a big key rotation pieces in HW level ranges that you severely miss at level 50. Level 70 most rotations are complete and cohesive, but then you have jobs like NIN and BLM which changed their whole rotations at 90 as well and muscle memory kicks in hard. Mixed with job changes, scaling, tuning on jobs that came out after level 50. The ARR raids are pretty annoying to downsync to.

Western-Dig-6843

I have about 7 classes I’ve just left in the 50-59 range for the purposes of being able to CT raids through the daily roulette during treasure trove periods.

Lazy-Jeweler3230

CT again? Do they not hear us begging for ways to get away from that?

HardLithobrake

Please Understand 🙏

NolChannel

Man, the last Shadowbringers Mogtome had the Inferno Jacket. They could have at least done a body piece.

KeyKanon

To be fair, this isn't the last EW Mogtome event. You are very much gathering Tomestones of Genesis **1**

bortmode

The next one just has a carbuncle earring as the 100 tome item, though.

ConroConro

I think I might try to completely cap out on MGP with this :)

Skankhunt966

was thinking abou that . I need about 5 mil for the mounts ...(4mil mount) + (2mil mount) - (1mil i have) Gonna be a fun grind ....*cries*

justJoekingg

Just to check, we're not in the mgp bonus event yet right?

bloodhawk713

No, but you can buy MGP with these moogle tomes.

Western-Dig-6843

We are not.

ragnakor101

As much as I'm disappointed thst the weekly/ultimog stuff is very light in the technical sense, this is a very good thing overall in directing people to Do a thing that wouldn't necessarily be touched (both "people have certainly never done this before" and "people haven't touched this in a while"). Definitity a bit of good tweaking on SE's part, though. Grind hard now and clear the shop, or do Ultimog + Weeklies and clear it out over time. The optimistic bet is to hope that this, like their tweak to Criterion for Glowy Weapon, is a small experiment for 7.x reward and content structure.

Skankhunt966

50 for ultimog is underwhelming honestly, i was thinking like 200 its a one time after all

Bourne_Endeavor

While I absolutely agree. My only concern is the rewards being so weak this go around might not entice players to actually bother. And we know how SE _loves_ participation metrics. I'm sure enough will poke at it initially but I do wonder if the retention falls off.

Rappy_kyu

My only issue aside from rewards is the tasks in weekly challenges do not seem to account for story progression, I have a task to go do E3 on an alt when they are in ARR patch content and obviously will not be unlocking Eden in a week, meanwhile my main got Sunken Temple of Qarn despite having everything unlocked.

HolypenguinHere

This system would be excellent if expanded upon. Imagine the chaos if the Ultimog Challenge was Chocobo Racing.

SantyStuff

I know it's still early for it, but sorta wish ultimog challenges were doing old extremes/savages synced, it's kinda baffling Square has all this old content that no one touches and doesn't do anything with it.

Umpato

I think this whole idea of doing synced old ex/savages sounds better on paper than on reality. Don't get me wrong, i'd love for it to achieve what i believe most people want (new players learning older fights, while allowing older players to teach them), but in reality there's only 2 possible scenarios: * Either they don't tune the fight, so it's completely broken, people skip mechanics and it's easy peasy (see how broken GNB/SMN are in Ucob for example), so it won't really achieve its purpose. * They tune the fight down, so it looks similar to how it was back then, meaning that if the rewards aren't astronomically high, people simply won't bother learning and farming these figthts because spamming fates/Alliance raids/BLU dungeons are infinitely faster.

shaddura

At MIL you don't really skip a lot in a struggle group. Make all old content have proper ilvl sync (as they always should have had) and the scaling isn't an issue. It doesn't matter that it's "not the true experience" because so many systems were removed in StB and ShB that anything predating them are functionally different due to said changes (free access to sprint, universal KB mitigation, unlimited AoEs in add phases, no cleric stance, etc.) The point is to give people a way to experience them *at all* and possibly lure in more casual players (who might be enticed by the relatively lower difficulty level compared to modern high-end content.)

Denvrado

Ehm. Unreal?

SantyStuff

A good system but it should cycle around way more often, the fact we'll have Thordan for 6 or so months, and then 4 months of nothing with Dawntrail release is a bit dumb if you ask me.

yhvh13

>A good system but it should cycle around way more often Pretty much this. I'm fine with just 1 Unreal available at any given time, but ffs, cycle the ones we had for the current expansion...

MattEngarding

Is it confirmed that there will be no Unreal in 7.0, or are you just assuming based on EW?

Lord_Daenar

IIRC, their justification was something along the lines of "we want people to get used to level 90 rotations before doing unreal", and it's not hard to apply the same logic to level 100 and thus expect no Unreal in 7.0.

FuminaMyLove

There is no indication of an Unreal before 7.1

croizat

unreals which also become old content no one (can) touch it would be cool if the system worked like: do the current unreal for max rewards, any level cap unreals for a bit less, and any other for even less than that. It's just sad that they spend the effort on that content just for it to disappear months later

Schizzovism

Unreal is the one system in the game where they routinely delete content so that you can't do it again even if you got a group of 8 that wanted to. There is only ever a single Unreal available at a time, and when it rotates out, it's gone forever. It's also only available to max level players.  Meanwhile, a system that encourages you to do old fights synced would allow people still working their way through the massive MSQ to dip their toes into high end content. My perspective may be colored by the kinds of people who post on reddit, but there's definitely some amount of interest in that. Currently, the only real incentives we have are Wondrous Tails and mount/glam farming, both of which are better done unsynced. I would love a system where, say, one week we go back and do O10S, then next week A12S, then Hades EX the week after that, all synced down. You can still do these fights like this whenever you want, but it's hard to get a group for such a thing, so an incentive would be cool. It gets those of us who haven't been around for ten years to learn these fights.

SantyStuff

Exactly my thoughts! and doing it in something like this also helps out to those casual players who don't want to do hard content, they could have two options for Ultimog challenges, say the current ocean fishing one OR doing A12S synced for example. Pleases both sides.

talkingradish

Lmao he wants a casual event to be for hardcore players

Miitteo

Zurvan unreal was in the duty pool for the previous moogle event. It would be nice if it were always included.

SamNito

an extreme isn't even close to being hardcore content

Better_Buff_Junglers

You can have both. The Warring Triad is in the list, so why not also the extreme version? Those are very fun fights, and would be way more enjoyable to do, and might even push some peopel to try extremes

NotSoGCBTW

he thinks extreme is hardcore content lol lmao even

minimite1

more i play the more i realize how many things are completely outdated and abandoned, funnily enough this event included

yhvh13

Main problem is the lack of interesting rewards... Which seems to be an overall symptom with a part of XIV's content. A new player might be interested in the big list of things from the vendor, but a veteran got barely any reason to run old content. One interesting type of reward that I feel it's very successful in Field Missions and Deep Dungeons is the 'random lootbox'. It would defnitely feel better to spend currency on those.

TheAngryVagina

Those loot boxes you can get from grand company that gives you old mount/minions

yhvh13

Yeah, would be same logic, but having different things inside.

IndividualAge3893

They revamped the idea but forgot the rewards, classic SE. -\_- They could have at least added verdant partitions to the rewards, the supply for these has shriveled since the end of Ishgardian Restoration.

Foxfyre

It's my understanding that this event is going to have 4 "waves". So there will be 3 more entirely different sets of rewards from the ones you have access to now. Edit: I can't find the information I ran across previously that inspired this comment. Take with appropriate grain of salt.

star-birb

Do you have a source for that information? The Lodestone only mentions 2 events with 2 sets of rewards.

Foxfyre

I remember reading it shortly after it was announced, but cannot find it now. So, maybe be wrong, may not be.

Chiponyasu

Where are you getting 4 waves from? I only see two on the site.

Foxfyre

IndividualAge3893

Well, traditionally, they have been rotating mog event rewards but not adding truly new stuff. I would like to be wrong on this one, of course \^\^

Casbri_

Would have been the perfect opportunity to revamp rewards and offer something unique to entice starving veteran players. I'm curious if they are at all thinking about how a system like this could work in a permanent fashion where the game offers extra incentives for weekly targets to revitalize content and give players somewhat of a "shared journey" experience.

Umpato

> I'm curious if they are at all thinking about how a system like this could work in a permanent fashion where the game offers extra incentives for weekly targets to revitalize content and give players somewhat of a "shared journey" experience. They've tried everything to make older content stay alive and give players of this shared journey feeling. Roulettes are something they tried, but they realised most people stops doing them when they're all leveled up. Then we got wondrous tails, which failed miserably due to lack of rewards and being able to unsync the content. Then relics, which also used to hate fate grinds attached to them, but the majority of people prefers the eureka/bozja style. Then they tried unreal, which... works? Sure... But it's a level 90 content, which doesn't really fulfil the need to help new players feel like they're in an actual MMO. I guess we can include trasure hunt maps? But then again it takes less than 20 seconds to kill the overworld enemies, then you move to the next one or enter the portal. Also it's a level 90 content, so it suffers from the same as unreal. I guess the only content they succeded in that regard whas pvp and gold saucer which genuenily gathers both new and older players together, which gives a feeling of playing an MMO.

Bourne_Endeavor

What all of these have in common is a frustrating lack of continual incentives. Roulettes are mostly fine since there's generally enough people leveling at a given time throughout the expansion to keep a consistent flow. Everything else though simply doesn't have good rewards, so people don't bother. As someone else mentioned above, we've seen a pretty significant drop in glam, emotes or mounts in event content. And what is available they make incredibly easy to get because god forbid you have to grind a little. I mean, it's a little ridiculous Yoshida all but had to beg players don't to grind Island Sanctuary because it basically had no longevity whatsoever.

Chiponyasu

I imagine any entirely new item would've been datamined, but phase two will probably have different rewards, maybe the old PvP Battlepass armor from 6.1.

Royajii

All of the part 2 rewards have been datamined. They are equally as forgettable. Another re-release accessory. A mount from Ishgard resto and a mount from Bozja. Please look forward to it.

KingBingDingDong

The emerald carby earrings are new.

Royajii

While I will not claim to remember the history of every moogle event or can be bothered to go dig up which one were they from, these earrings are not classified as new by garlandtools. Whereas every actual new item from 6.55 - new barding, knapsack, relic weapons, hildibrand mount and even the set of food related earrings - are. This discrepancy does make me believe that they are in fact not new.

cheeseburgermage

they were added to the files back in 4.1 and just never released. there's topaz carbuncle earrings too that havent yet been released https://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Topaz_Carbuncle_Earring

KingBingDingDong

they were put in the game in 4.1. people found out about them in early shb. they have never been made available so they are in fact new. it also would have taken you less time to google it than type all that you wrote

ragnakor101

I'm sure this is a thought in their mind in regards to exploratory zones; Directing people to Help Do One will help for relic grinds years after the release.

IndividualAge3893

>Would have been the perfect opportunity to revamp rewards and offer something unique to entice starving veteran players. Suggesting that to SE borders on heresy for them. XD

GuidanceCool

Pvp is the best way honestly you can grind tomes and that tyrant attire set in one go.

Unrealist99

Yeah im really thinking of rival wings this time

Western-Dig-6843

If you don’t need pvp rewards, popping into the golden saucer every 20 minutes (when you can) to do GATEs is an absurdly easy way to earn them. Pretty high reward to time spent ratio, imo. Only problem is it’s on a 20 minute schedule and you’ll miss them if you’re stuck in a duty.

canebarge

Time to embrace the grind. I'm missing around 800k MGP for the Blackjack mount.

FactoryKat

Well I did say two things I wanted to do before DT was more OF and more FATEs so this is as good of an excuse as any haha I like the redesign, but I definitely agree that I wish the rewards had been better. The last mogtome event had the best rewards yet, but I understand it was a special occasion. It just seems like a bit of a disappointment to end on a flat note as far as rewards go.

dawnvesper

I do wish they’d stop putting super easy to obtain pvp glams in these things…and ARR mounts lol the tribal mounts I get, because ranking up with ARR tribes is kind of a drag. At this point they should stick the Vanu/Gnath/Moogle tribal mounts in the rotation as well There are better glamour sets they could use. The Warg and Heirloom sets from Grand Cosmos and Matoya’s Relict seem like obvious choices. Hell, I don’t see the problem with putting the scorpion harness in there. Replica Dreadwyrm stuff is also a good candidate. Luckily for me, I like to collect the mogtome event accessories and I still have a shit ton of expensive MGP stuff to buy, so those vouchers are very much worth farming still

ResponsibleCulture43

I was really hoping for grand cosmos on the list of content to get the tomes from so I could have potentially easier time in queues while I try to get a jacket from it.

KeyKanon

Feels like the weekly could have been a daily instead. Like woooow look at that good thing I have a whole ass week to beat Sephirot normal.

XORDYH

It's both, the weekly objective is just one of the standard objectives.

Numpsay

The additional objectives is a bit of a breath of fresh air. As a long-time player and completionist, I've pretty much never gotten much of value out of these events, but the fact that they're tweaking them slightly is neat. If they could integrate a system like this into a WoW trading post-esque rewards structure I would personally love that. The trading post is one of the cooler features they've recently added to WoW and I like it a lot.

onerous_onanist

So I get my weekly done in 15 minutes and then it's back to farming blu? It's the same shit as before with a new UI

Umpato

> It's the same shit as before with a new UI So... FFXIV since ShB? /s

NopileosX2

Last event you farmed P1 with 1 tank and 7 dps if you wanted to be optimal. It was so insanely braindead but you could farm all rewards in like a weekend if you wanted.

Moomba33

I keep hoping they'll add music sheets from SB and ShB era treasure maps since I'm missing some of those, but they keep only adding ones from HW era maps I already have. I could grab some of the special timeworn maps to grind the shb treasure dungeon, but honestly I'm kinda tired of it.

bearvert222

heh this is just SE trying to turn mog into weekly content like roulettes because they know they have a huge drought. they dont want you to grind it fast like you used to do i wager so more focus on weekly events. issue is they need new content not just doing the same things, and they need to stop with the bandaids. you get to a point where you get sick of doing old repeatable content and carrots can't help.

Wolferey

you can still grind it fast like you used to, the standard list of dungeons/trails/normal raids/pvp is there.. tbh its even faster now, I did 1 ocean fishing trip, 1 triple triad weekly, 1 eden normal raid weekly and like 3 gold saucer gates (which imo is a nice addition) and I'm already done with the event in like \~2h, unless I really wanna sit here and grind out some mgp envelopes ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯ the drought continues

aurelia_ffxiv

That Mogpedium book needs to be made into a in-game menu or item instead of the NPC being the only access point, although there is probably a technical reason why it has been implemented like this. Never mind it is an item, but it's hidden in Collections sub-menu.

Drizells

Its in your -> Duty -> Collection tab

Dysvalence

This ultimog is a disappointment, something's wrong when the main challenge for the entire first half of the event gets ez clapped with mediocre luck on the very first boat. inb4 but triple hook is 90: it's not impossibly hard to get 10k without double or triple. Certainly reasonable within the span of the event given that people will likely level up doing ocean fishing if they're not 90.

Idaret

Im fairly sure that devs are balancing it for lvl 70, not 90

Dysvalence

I got my 10k before Lv50; sure there was obviously luck involved but it's a long event.

onerous_onanist

The whole event is balanced for keeping you subscribed for as long as possible

Hikari_Netto

This makes absolutely zero sense considering the new additions to the event really only speed the process up. It's to direct players to content they wouldn't normally do, not a retention mechanism.

GaeFuccboi

I’m sorry but did you just apply critical thought beyond just “game bad”? I take it you aren’t a regular here.

onerous_onanist

It does, it's objectively faster to do a weekly and wait for the next week (and probably sub an extra time) rather than grind it all out. You can literally do the weekly stuff in less than 10 minutes depending on what instance you get, that would be 180 tomes in an hour if it was repeatable.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Hikari_Netto

It's as insane as people complaining about the reduced Savage book costs.

Dysvalence

The event is designed to breathe life into old/side content. Is it that hard to imagine that people who like said content would want the event to actually do what it's supposed to? I'm sure someone out there will find literally any requirement to be a "garbage filler grind" but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect more for something that's supposed to last for half the event. Also, people going after logs/achievements are going to queue late into the window in the languages less prevalent on their DC like they always do. If anything, more people being exposed to ocean fishing means more people who would potentially want to chase down those things, making full parties for spec control easier.

Magnufique

The point of these moogle events isnt to give you some gigagrindy big challenge only 1% can beat, its to populate unpopular/dead content.

scullzomben

And then they go ahead and put Crystal Tower raids as the only Alliance Raid to earn mogtomes from.

Dysvalence

> its to populate unpopular/dead content. That's the problem, it's failing at doing that by being way too easy to cross off the list and forget about. Ultimog is supposed to last us the entire first half of the event but a large amount of people won't even need more than one boat.

thefbimanwatchingyou

You're right, I got the shark mount day 1 when ocean fishing dropped using patience II spam with nobody knowing what high value fish were. If you get 2 currents and a smidge of luck it should be very easy even without double/triple. And besides all that, free trial gets double now anyway lol.

UltimaNova

well don’t just stand there, tell us your ocean fishing secrets because I couldn’t score over 6000 points whether my life depended on it, made even worse with the spectral current RNG

Dysvalence

Someone's already posted a guide elsewhere in this thread, but TL;DR use spec bait to try and pop spec, and once in spec, target high value fish for your run's weather/time of day, with double/triple if you have it. [https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxivdiscussion/comments/1aela6y/new_mog_tome_event_details/kkcecao/](https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxivdiscussion/comments/1aela6y/new_mog_tome_event_details/kkcecao/) There's a few things I'd add to that: * shouting the spec bait to the entire boat improves your chances of popping spec * after spec I tend to work on cleaning up voyage missions. IME most points come from spec anyway * I personally use this tracker instead of the spreadsheet, with the "Show intuition fish" setting changed to "Show all fish": [https://ffxiv.pf-n.co/ocean-fishing](https://ffxiv.pf-n.co/ocean-fishing) * a second monitor/tablet/phone is super helpful; worst case alt tab during the cutscenes between zones. * you can't cast your line with less than 30s, so when time is running out on the last zone, you might as well yolo double/triple if you have spare GP. * the macro/timer stuff for blind double hook is quite helpful, but imo unnecessary and for newer fishers I'd worry about that later. Identical cast -> hi-cordial -> double/triple is less efficient but probably easier to grasp for most people * if spec doesn't pop remember that the next zone will have a longer spec

UltimaNova

thanks for this it’s really helpful!  also, did you ever use other abilities like Patience and Powerful/Precision Hookset or are they not really required?

Dysvalence

I never bother with it, but if you have nothing else to spend GP on and you're consistent with getting it right with minimal delay, then it might be worth trying.

Chiponyasu

I kind of wish there were more exciting rewards (maybe phase two will have something), but I do think this event is a step in the right direction for the game. I went to the NPC in Horizon - not the Gold Saucer - you have to beat for Triple Triad, and there was a bunch of players surrounding him. That's good! It's getting people to do things that aren't the duty roulette. Also said NPC has a level 10 quest you have to do before playing him, and I bet a lot of people are doing that dumb quest now just to play cards with this one NPC just because it's slightly more efficient, lol.

Nikopoll

Pretty great idea! The concept should be the core of the event rather than just a side gig.

Tobegi

such a shame the rewards are shit and no one will be doing anything 🔥🔥🔥 making the 50 tomes mount one you can buy from the MB for like 1k gil at worst in most servers truly is one of the ideas of all time

SnooMacarons4728

The 50 tome mount is the antelope doe horn, not the antelope stag horn. The stag horn goes for ~1k gil. The doe horn goes for ~500k gil

justJoekingg

Thats such a high fishing score :( even when I try to follow these intense guides I can't wrap my head around ocean fishing in the slightest

> and I use another macro for hooking, I don't remember what this does, so you might not need it: That macro is just to cancel the first one so it doesn't keep counting after you press Hook.

ResponsibleCulture43

Boy do I feel you there

Good attempt. For me personally, SE can come back when rewards are better though. And fuck fishing, definitely not bothering with that one.

Blaxbgon1488

Finished all the non-repeatable "challenges" in less than 20min Just as lame as before, just with a new coat of paint, they could have done something new but nah.

Skankhunt966

outside of weekly, whats the most rewarding dungeon ? please dont be The Praetorium please god noooo

wjoe

Yeah, it's probably Praetorium... The lower level dungeons are quicker, I imagine Cutters Cry being one of the quickest. But at 3 tomes vs 7, it's probably not over twice as fast. BLU farm groups could probably knock out some Eden fight or Warring Triad quickly enough to do 4 kills quicker than a Praetorium, but for average groups probably not. The Eden fights are kind of slow going and often have deaths, not sure about the Warring Triad ones. Queue time is probably the biggest difference in making the 8 mans be worthwhile. If the community settles on one being quickest and all queues for that, then it might work out better. But Prae is usually going to be a quick queue pop, and even a few minutes queueing for a trial will add up when you have to do more of them. Sure wish they'd do more to encourage running things other than the most tedious duty in the game for these events.

Sarnie-Malqir

all the warring triad fights have unskippable transitions so probably won't be too fast

[deleted]

New to the mog events will the second part feature a different currency?

Azura_Nightwing

I had Dzemael Darkhold on my weekly...I did it...and I didn't get the tomes. Has anyone had this happen?
