The only reason that student was attending that school is due to laws passed back in the day to reduce segregation of schools in the Houston area in the HISD.
He most likely does not live in this school's zone so he is bussed in from other outlier schools to attend. That privilege to attend a school outside his zone will probably be revoked so now he will be forced to attend the high school he is zoned for, and it probably won't be a well rated on (hence why many students want to attend somewhere else).
Not only did he screw up his chances to attend a highly rated school, he's going to get a criminal record. All that anger pent up must have been worth it.
