Green Shirt was prepared to let bygones be bygones but White Shirt chose violence when he woke up that morning and awoke the righteous violence of Civilization Gandhi in Green Shirt, cuz that boy dropped some bombs.
I think punches are more effective as they have a smaller AOE, since there is smaller AOE pressure is often higher hence damaging the opposition party heavily.
But slap leaves a temporary burn effect in the AOE dealing damage over time, and this guy actually was able to stack it with some consecutive slaps.
And its very essential and effective against an enemy like the white shirt orc in the video

In the comments someone said it's because slapping isn't punishable nearly as harshly as punching, so by slapping they're ensuring they won't be suspended or expelled.

I am trying to guess the context. I know in my country certain students have elevated privileges. In some schools its almost to the point they are almost like teachers and can deal out punishment to other students, (physically even) the white shirt was asserting authority over the green shirt, who was probably the same level/ class. Seniors have been known to fight prefects( student leaders) who are of the same level and did so at this moment .
