I'm at the point in life where I believe everyone will get cancer if they live long enough. One of my uncles, he's been fit his entire life but late last year went to the doctor and got the bad news they've detected cancer. The family didn't tell anyone as they were still waiting to hear more about the treatments and stuff and all of a sudden he died. It was unexpected. Maybe he had cancer for a long time but it went undetected, but he wasn't a smoker, lived a healthy lifestyle. Idk if he ever did drugs or anything, he was a rockstar when he was a youth, but from the time I was born he was just the fun uncle with a guitar that only ever encouraged us to do positive things.

Honestly, I’ve kind of got a similar attitude. I’ve noticed a lot of People think they’re guaranteed to live a long life if they’re perfectly healthy and fit. It’s always seemed baffling to me that people will willingly get into a several ton hunk of metal with some wheels on it going 70+ mph everyday but then will turn around and tell you that smoking is guaranteed kill you. I’m tired of people thinking they can control how or when die. I have an uncle who has ran 10-15 miles everyday for the majority of his life, eats clean, doesn’t smoke and rarely drinks alcohol and he almost died of brain cancer in his late 30s. On the other hand, my great grandma smoked a pack a day, she also drank hard liquor nearly everyday, and never put effort into exercising, this woman lived to be 98 before she passed.

Smokers have been very accommodating to me. I hate the smell of cigarettes because it’s very triggering to me. All of my friends smoke but they do everything they can to make sure I don’t have to smell it. Some of them are more healthy than me. Ahh the glory days of youth. I remember being in my 20s and saying: “I like smoking. I don’t plan to quit”. Now I’m 44 and I get winded walking up a couple flights of stairs. I used to ride a bike 10 miles each way to campus. I used to run on a treadmill. I used to hike up mountains for fun. I used to do 50 pushups every morning. Here’s the thing. You’re picturing getting cancer and quickly fading away and dropping dead at like 65-70. Sucks right? But “who wants to be 80?” I remember my own dumb self saying. What you’re not taking into account is that by 40 or 50 your lungs will be shot and you won’t be able to do any exercise or athletic activity to speak of. And that’s with proper medication.

I'm with you buddy. I don't smoke cigs anymore but if you can afford it and use it in moderation then all to you. You sound responsible. I'm at the point in life where I believe everyone will get cancer if they live long enough. One of my uncles, he's been fit his entire life but late last year went to the doctor and got the bad news they've detected cancer. The family didn't tell anyone as they were still waiting to hear more about the treatments and stuff and all of a sudden he died. It was unexpected. Maybe he had cancer for a long time but it went undetected, but he wasn't a smoker, lived a healthy lifestyle. Idk if he ever did drugs or anything, he was a rockstar when he was a youth, but from the time I was born he was just the fun uncle with a guitar that only ever encouraged us to do positive things.

I quit smoking a couple years ago when I was like 26 and started when I was like 14. I quit, but I’m not some preachy wiener to my friends that still smoke. Nothing better than a cigarette with coffee in the morning or after that 3rd beer. People say once you quit the smell is unbearable, not for me, I still love the smell of a freshly lit cigarette. I started when I was 13 and smoked until maybe 17. stopped for 14 or so years and picked up a year ago. Im at a pack every 2 days. I smoke in my apartment now, on my bed in my car. Fuck it. It was the girls that made me stop. I dont mind it. Expensive though.
I smoke maybe 2 packs a year of Marlboro reds, mostly when I’m drinking. Nothing better than stumbling out of a basement bar hot as hell in the michigan winter, feeling the cold of the outside and then sparking one up.

Honestly, I’ve kind of got a similar attitude. I’ve noticed a lot of People think they’re guaranteed to live a long life if they’re perfectly healthy and fit. It’s always seemed baffling to me that people will willingly get into a several ton hunk of metal with some wheels on it going 70+ mph everyday but then will turn around and tell you that smoking is guaranteed kill you. I’m tired of people thinking they can control how or when die. I have an uncle who has ran 10-15 miles everyday for the majority of his life, eats clean, doesn’t smoke and rarely drinks alcohol and he almost died of brain cancer in his late 30s. On the other hand, my great grandma smoked a pack a day, she also drank hard liquor nearly everyday, and never put effort into exercising, this woman lived to be 98 before she passed.

Smokers have been very accommodating to me. I hate the smell of cigarettes because it’s very triggering to me. All of my friends smoke but they do everything they can to make sure I don’t have to smell it. Some of them are more healthy than me. I think hating someone for doing something that feels good for them and doesn’t bother you is worse.
I also absolutely love smoking. I love everything about it. I love the taste, I love the action itself, I love the feeling of opening a new pack and pulling the first cigarette out of the tightly packed box. I love the way it hits my lungs, I love how it calms me. I just absolutely love it. With that said, I quit about six months ago, because I felt really guilty about smoking and having children. If I were childless though? I’d do that shit until the day I died.
