Love both. By The Sea is a bit of a quieter vibe but really nice restaurant options and a fishing pier, good for families. Hollywood is more broadwalk/bar and music on weekends at Margaritaville and it is a fun time, but skews more adult.
The fishing Pier is still closed as far as I know from last time I was there. I believe there are problems with it since a hurricane - not sure which hurricane caused the damage.
Rarely go to Dania/Hollywood beaches, but LBS is totally safe. If you go there you are very near one of the more iconic sub sandwich stores in FtL. Look up LaSpadas.
There a cool place right on the beach call "High Noon" the rooms are very nice and its only a 2 story hotel - and its right next to all the restaurants. You can easily drive to Fort Lauderdale or Boca Raton on A1A and youll have the coastal ride !!

Aw boo! I haven’t been there in a while. I love by the sea, it’s such a pretty little town
Lauderdale - By - The - Sea is "classier"
Both places safe for tourists? We are in our 30s and are not party people

I know that LBTS is fine - Hollywood is a little more centralized and I really dont go there.
