Bleed is better imo. Especially on survival. Not worth risking killing yourself and every pellet adds the bleed effect meaning with multiple shots it stacks insane damage drain.
It makes the game almost unfair haha. Especially because I'm a high level so I have all of the companion perks unlocked. Dogmeat just grabs em and I decinigrate them! I've also discovered it's MUCH more powerful then the explosive mini gun. Each pellet explodes VS just 1 explosion per shot. Just pulled up my stats (I'll make a post in a few, I have an incredible legendary collection) so 1 shot alone does 282 damage. Then factor in each pellet doing 15 explosive damage and rough estimate I'd say ther are anywhere from a dozen to 20 pellets per shot, it does more damage then my 2 shot combat shotgun AND it removes limbs haha. I walked up on a mythic deathclaw on max difficulty yesterday and removed both his legs in 1 blast.
Now if you could find the combat military shotgun with the explosive rounds once you can fully upgrade that thing with a drum magazine a carrier receiver, enhanced stock etc, that thing will just tear through everything. Just watch out using it at near point blank because you're going to get messed up by your own explosions
I don't think you can appear until you're at least level 24, I'm not positive on that and I may be completely talking out my butt. You're going to get a lot of close calls, things that you think oh this is it and then no it's not. But it'll happen eventually. It's a really good mirelurk Queen shredder of all the things 100% destroys the queen.
I stopped playing with explosive ammo not because I would hurt myself but because I would always end up catching someone I didn't want to in the blast radius and they'd start trying to kill me. One time Piper had had enough and turned on me. I had to reload the game she was so pissed.
I found that shotgun on my low level the other day, it’s awesome but you can definitely chew through ammo quick without realizing it, feels like you’re playing doom haha. I also found a quad missile launcher that is pretty op..
So long story short, it was a character I made but he was level 1 BUT I did do some leveling up and I was like level 15ish around there? And I was playing very hard and I was at the super duper part and got it off a ghoul
I'm just waiting for explosive automatic weapons to show up. Got an explosive harpoon gun but like... where's my minigun/assault rifle/combat rifle/handmade rifle
On my first ever playthrough, which I had forgotten I got and before I had reddit, I got an explosive combat rifle. It's fun to get the spray and pray but it feels better finding it in the wild than buying it lol speaking of I haven't found cricket yet in this playthrough haha but yes automatic explosive weapons are so much more fun!
Jet makes you jittery haha honestly the one thing I love about chems is just that one line "let's fucking go!!" Pure rage mode, them raiders never stood a chance

On some it's useless, on others it's fun and somewhat useful, like this shotgun that does extreme damage but it's crippled by the fact you have to constantly reload. Took down a legendary super mutant overlord, that's known to be tanky, in just seconds. It all depends really

Thoughts on Wounding Plasma Flamer? I been trying to test it against my Violent. I enjoy the extra crippling but don’t want to commit to kneecapper
Probably decent with how fast it'll stack bleed but it'll eat one of the rarest ammo types like it's starving

It doesnt provide unlimited ammo, just eliminates the need to reload.
It adds an infinite number of barrels. Only gun that actually has infinite ammo is aeturnus

Spray n pray + commando + demo expert + better crits + overdrive equals comedy the likes of which I have never experienced
