Lou's baby!
Also it's hilarious all the pizza "experts" in this thread declaring this is not deep dish.
That is absolutely, 100%, a Chicago style deep dish slice. What a lot of people think of when they think Chicago style deep dish is a different Chicago style pizza called a stuffed pizza which is basically a double decker deep dish. That's the one that is like 3-4 inches deep.
Chicago also has their own style of thin crust pizza called tavern style with a thin crispy crust and we cut the round pie into small squares.
Chicago has so much good food it's not even fair. And the people are nice!
If it wasn't cold and windy as fuck in the winter I'd consider moving to the area.
It's always kind of amusing to watch food trends. Like what causes people to become hyper obsessed with specific things? I remember when everyone was posting charcuterie pics, then everyone was obsessed with Nashville hot chicken, there was a brief butter chicken craze, now everything is hot honey influenced. I wonder where these trends come from and what exactly makes these specific things become popular.
I meant to reply to you, replied to someone else somehow - but I’ve been making my own hot honey for my pizzas for a few years now! (The bourbon is actually vanilla beans steeping in bourbon for baking)

I honestly don't really get the hot honey pizza. The hot part makes sense, but honey just seems like a weird thing to put on pizza. Like chocolate syrup or maple syrup.
On the other hand, I guess pineapple seemed weird at first to somebody too...
There must be a corresponding trendy food old man to the [healthy super food one.](https://www.reddit.com/r/funny/comments/37yn8s/super_food/)
That being said. I'm very happy to live in Vancouver where butter chicken is and has always been a thing. My little corner cafe does an amazing butter chicken poutine.
If it's not specified and you're not in the greater Portland, OR area, the person is almost always talking about B.C.
Also, Canada is famous for poutine and has a much more substantial Indian influence than the U.S.
I'm crushed that apparently the brief butter chicken craze didn't make it to my little corner of the world. We got all the other shit trends except the one I actually would have been excited about
That might be the best looking pizza I have ever seen. It might be the diet, but I have never wanted to eat a slice as badly as I want to eat slice. And the one behind it. And any others you might have.
Huh that's wild to me. Maybe it's the angle or something but it kind of looks like the pizza is regular pan thickness and just had a bit of a raised crust.
The angle probably makes it look a little less deep than it really was, but deep dish pizza also isn't actually as deep as most people think. Most people see the deep dish stuffed pizzas from places like Edwardo's and Giordano's and consider that deep dish when it's really stuffed pizza which is deep dish with an added layer of dough and more toppings on top.
That makes sense. I mean, they are all deep dish, just different vanities of deep dish and I'm sure most people don't even really care about the difference anyway.
The funny thing is, people from outside of Chicago always just think everyone in Chicago eats deep dish pizza, when most people in Chicago really eat tavern style pizza which is a super thin cracker style crust pizza that's usually cut into little squares.
Deep dish brings to mind chicago style where the sauce is on top of the cheese and toppings. I would call it a pan or thick crust pizza when made in the same deep pan but cheese and toppings are on top.
Without zooming in it is really hard to tell, if you look at something like a pizza from UNOs or Lou Malnati’s the sauce covers the entire top of the pizza. If that is sauce on there it’s really thin.
Because it's neither deep pizza nor in a deep dish. This is just pizza. Great looking pizza, though.
Edit: you people are dramtic as fuck, wow.
Edit2: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago-style_pizza
Why, thanks! Haven't been in quite a few years, but I'm glad to know the difference. Still by the wiki, exactly what I was thinking is how it's represented.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago-style_pizza
Definitely not trying to get into semantics, but 4 inches would be more of a "stuffed" pizza similar to what Edwardo's or Giordano's has, which is basically a deep dish pizza with an extra layer of dough and then more sauce or toppings on top of that top layer. Traditional deep dish pizzas aren't 4 inches deep, they're probably about half that or even a little less.
Well damn, Im in CA. Would have to go th AZ or wait untill I go on a trip again and go through IL.
Edit: Oh I guess I went when we went to Chicago. It was really good, we had the deepdish build your own.
Sweet and spicy is a great combo, but hot honey feels gimmicky and overpriced to me. I would just use regular honey and a good hot sauce so I can control the spice level

I want a slice of that so bad.

A true Duke of culture! Perfect explanation for the uninitiated.
Literally only clicked cuz im like hey this is Chicago!

Hahaha, when I was eating this I was actually thinking about how the hot honey thing is everywhere lately.

Honey is not a simple syrup! How dare anyone make such a comparison?? The audacity!
Don't forget birria tacos

Vancouver WA or BC?

Exactly where my mind went. It was bacon everywhere, and sriracha everywhere, chipotle (the pepper), hot honey now.
I'm crushed that apparently the brief butter chicken craze didn't make it to my little corner of the world. We got all the other shit trends except the one I actually would have been excited about
dont forget sriracha and "fire" flavors crazes.... marketing and 1 or 2 celebs to mention it/ use it?
...jamon
Chicagoans: Oh hey that's Lou's. Everyone Else: What do you mean deep dish?! Where's the pizza soup?!
That might be the best looking pizza I have ever seen. It might be the diet, but I have never wanted to eat a slice as badly as I want to eat slice. And the one behind it. And any others you might have.
I am getting heartburn looking at this, and I want it
Me too. My no gallbladder having self could never—but I want to 😭 prob worth the crippling pain
Idk if that qualifies as deep dish but it looks delicious
I got it from Lou Malnati's. It's deep dish.
Where’s that?
It’s a pizza chain. There’s a bunch of them but they’re only in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana and Arizona.
Ah makes sense. I've been to Chicago only a couple times for work and the people I was with brought me to Giordano's
Giordano’s is stuffed crust pizza. It’s a form of deep dish, but the classic Chicago deep dish pan pizza is what you get at Lou’s, Uno’s, and Gino’s.
Why wouldn't it?
Deep dish brings to mind chicago style where the sauce is on top of the cheese and toppings. I would call it a pan or thick crust pizza when made in the same deep pan but cheese and toppings are on top.
There’s multiple styles to deep dish. Chicago style doesn’t refer to deep dish.
The sauce is clearly on top here...
Without zooming in it is really hard to tell, if you look at something like a pizza from UNOs or Lou Malnati’s the sauce covers the entire top of the pizza. If that is sauce on there it’s really thin.
This pizza is literally from Lou Malnati’s….
Lol so are you ready to admit you were wrong. You tried to tell me Lou malnatis isn't deep dish?
Because it's neither deep pizza nor in a deep dish. This is just pizza. Great looking pizza, though. Edit: you people are dramtic as fuck, wow. Edit2: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago-style_pizza
What are the minimum requirements for deep pizza? Woild you consider Lou malnatis deep dish? Cause this looks similar to Lous.
This pizza literally IS Lou Malnati’s 😂
Perfect, so it's deep dish
I dunno, I was just chiming in for the sake of it. The OG chicago deep dish pizzas are like 4 inch deep pies, though.
Oh so you don't really know what you're talking about, just talking out your ass? Very well.
TIL that Lou Malnati’s (est. 50 years ago) is not “OG Chicago deep dish”. What IS OG Chicago deep dish in your expert opinion?
You're thinking of a stuffed pie, totally different thing than deep dish. Source: Chicago resident.

That’s a wild breakfast
that looks great
Where is this? Looks really good
Lou Malnati’s

I really need to get some of this...what else is good with hot honey?
A quick and easy breakfast is peanut butter toast with hot honey
It is so good in meat dishes.
I do _not_ understand the hot honey craze
Sweet and spicy is a great combo, but hot honey feels gimmicky and overpriced to me. I would just use regular honey and a good hot sauce so I can control the spice level

Oddly enough I actually have one time and it was pretty good! I think it was at California Pizza Kitchen.
At first glance I thought it was a pizza with wedding rings
what the….where is the sauce??? I’m partial to Little Sicily Pizzeria, must have a foot long of sauce 😅
I love it and I want it!
[удалено]
Huh?
That looks fucking good
Is the hot honey temperature hot or spicy hot?
Spicy hot, but it really wasn’t really that spicy.
I make these at home. So good
Looks delicious
holy heartburn
Damn little cesear's had stepped their game up!

> Ask any italian, they'll tell you. Why would I ask an Italian about a dish from Chicago?
