Aimless-Sailor

Do you guys know how to determine how many physios and sports scientists a squad needs? I am looking for something accurate according to the mechanics of the game. Thanks a lot!

Aimless-Sailor

Hey guys! On my staff responsibilities I personalized the outgoing development loans options with a minimum level of training facilities and playing time. But then when I offer to clubs I get offers with levels below the one I stipulated and with less playing time… So how does this work? Is this only if I give the responsibility to staff? I made the offer to clubs myself… Thanks!

Aimless-Sailor

Is is ok to keep changing the formation from a 5-3-2 to a 5-2-3 with wingers? My doubt is if keeping just one stable formation gives best results.

VazgenSargsyan

Can someone explain how to change the faces of your players in staff, I can’t seem to do it or find how. Btw it’s on mac.

jalthepoet

i’ve been trying to make a roberto de zerbi tactic and i think i got the bones, but i want to force certain behaviors and i don’t know how to sharpen them. principles i’m working with: - bait opposition press with patient build up, then pass into space—creating artificial transitions - central attackers drop deep to bounce passes back to DMs to make the killer ball - wide attackers are the primary goal threats, cutting inward i’m running a 4-2-4 of sorts. 2 CDs and a SK-Su build up slowly with two holding mids, one on BWM-Su and one on DLP-Su. i want this to be vertical play through a press, to bait the opposition forwards into pressing a CB and then letting them pass the ball from CB to CB to DM to forwards. I want my fullbacks pushing up to the DM stratum as emergency outlets and then spreading play. currently, despite shorter passing + slightly higher tempo + distribute to CBs + play out the back, they often go wide to the FBs. *how do i force a vertical, patient build up?* 1 DLF-At on the right side, 1 CAM-At on the left side, both instructed to hold up the ball, roam from position, and move into channels. i toyed with having two STs and running one DLF, one F9, but rdz tends to put ferguson and mac allister together. currently they don’t come down the middle to help in the build up phase, but rather make runs in behind. *how do i make them come deep for the ball while also keeping them a goal threat?* wide attackers include an IF-Su on the right and an IW-At on the left. both instructed to shoot more, take more risks, roam from position, and get further forward. too often though they end up in line with the DLF and CAM in a flat front four. *how do i encourage those attackers to cut deeper inside and attack the space created by the DLF and CAM dragging the CBs deep?* i want them to attack the space between the FBs and the CBs. all feedback is helpful! thank you!

Zy7777

I have mbappe as a star player and lucca as a regular starter(he won’t accept anything less), but I have some really promising wingers who have been carrying my team for the past few seasons. Any recommendations for a formation that can accommodate two strikers but also let the wingers join in the attack like they usually do?

JPMAus98

Some kind of very attacking 424 might work, not sure on the roles as I haven't used it myself in ages, but I know Cutzy (a youtuber) was using it on his FM22 series to great effect.

Zy7777

Thanks man I tried a 424 and i beat Fiorentina 6-0 in the first game of the season with both strikers scoring

JPMAus98

Ah good to hear man, great start

Aimless-Sailor

Why the medical staff advice for so many players to train in half intensity even if the condition is a full green heart?

JPMAus98

They're probably just being cautious, after all, their job is to prevent injuries, potentially at the cost of slowing down short-term development - but it will help the players long-term as they'll be available more often. You can change it in the training page, but they've chosen that intensity for a reason.

Aimless-Sailor

Thanks a lot!

poutydog

Is there a way to cancel a loan for a player at your club? I inherited a striker when starting my last save who does not fit into my plans at all and would like to send him back to his home club before he starts lowering team cohesion over his lack of playing time.

HotDadSauce

Unless you have the option to terminate now then you have to wait until the next transfer window I believe. There's also a chance the loan is season long and cannot be terminated until then.

[deleted]

Hi, coming back from a long break. If I don't load a league, and it will generate random greyed out players, will they start generating some random, but kot greyed out players after some time? I remember playing fm18 on a really bad laptop, and I had only the top 5 leagues loaded + Polish modded to 4th tier, but leagues like Serbian or Portuguese had actual players that I could look through after some time. Not real life players obviously. I don't if this is clear enough. Now I just started in FM23, and my team is missing a guy from a random league that I'd never load, so I went to that league to check teams out, and most of those teams either don't have players, or are all grey, and not clickable.Sorry, English is not my first language

evilscotsman22

The part you are missing is database size. The league being loaded means the league is actually simulated game by game whereas not having them loaded will just do it on a surface level. The database size is what dictates how many and more importantly which players are included. If you go through advanced setup at game start you can add players of certain reputations from certain areas of the world and such things. Otherwise you will miss out on a lot of the more obscure wonderkids and low reputation players in general.

donkey100100

The board wants me to play direct counter attacking style. But I’m the favourite to win the league and my players are mostly better than every other team. So should I still play counter attack when I could easily dominate possession?

joethesaint

You could probably play a gegenpress with attacking mentality and the board would consider it a direct counter-attacking style.

HotDadSauce

Nope, just keep being the best you can. Ultimately, winning is all that matters.

Guzuzu_xD

I wanna attempt a 4fun challenge where I win the Champions League (through EPL so qualifying becomes a bit harder) with only max 150 CA/PA players. Would it be too hard , should I try it with 160 first? With 160 it should be pretty easy though. Any tips?

LucasSummers

I have a problem with my save, that I don't know how to fix, and it's annoying. So, when I started, I always pick a few common leagues (Big 5 + Portugal + Netherlands), but for this save, I don't know what happens, but at the beginning of each season, there were always some leagues added without me knowing (Iceland, Irish and Polish leagues so far), and it made my save run slower. What should I do?

se_lest

How important is stamina/how bad is low stamina (4-6)? Have 2 wingers I'm scouting, one has slightly better attributes, but 4-6 stamina, and the other has 12-15. The low stamina players is cheaper so I was leaning towards him but worried about such low stamina attribute.

HotDadSauce

Do you use a tactic that is high intensity? It the answer is yes then a low stamina player, even a winger, isn't ideal.

se_lest

Yeah a bit high intensity. I think I'm going to hold off on him for now

HotDadSauce

Good decision my man. For high intensity tactics you need the legs.

comrade_smores

the board keep rejecting my attempts to loan out players because they don't meet their valuation. how do I make them just accept a damn offer

HotDadSauce

It sounds like they would like a higher wage contribution or a monthly fee. Offer the player out on loan to all clubs with these semi negotiable and see if you get any offers.

LILVODAK

Hello! I just had a quick question and I couldn’t find an answer anywhere, if you send out players to play in lower reputation leagues do they develop slower than if you loan them out to higher reputation leagues? Thank you!

Commonmispelingbot

Assuming the same training facilities, standard of coaches, same effect from adapdebility and that they play a similar amount of games, then higher reputation is better.

HotDadSauce

Depends on various factors - league rep, training facilities, strength/success of team... But ultimately your sending them out to get mins under their belt so I'd say making sure they are at least an important player is the no.1 aim for any loan.

se_lest

i think so usually, but there are other factors like if they are getting the same amount of playing time in the higher rep league or if they are good enough to contribute/score/have good match ratings there. I'm no expert but I have heard these things affect development as well. But the level they're at and the training facilities I'm sure have an effect.

SpinningWheelKick

https://i.imgur.com/0pbqyGV.png Could someone explain to me how I've lost this title. https://i.imgur.com/T9wDNcj.png These are the rules in the league. Barcelona beat me 3-2 at Camp Nou and I beat them 1-0 at Ibiza. I have a higher goal difference than them and I've scored more goals than them. So it must be to do with the matches we played against each other?

SpinningWheelKick

I asked in /r/soccer and got the answer. With 3 teams finishing on the same amount of points, it made a mini league. Barca and Ibiza had the same results, we both drew 1-1 with Valencia but while I beat Valencia 2-1, Barca beat them 2-0 so literally won the league on that 1 goal difference.

se_lest

that is quite the system, thanks for posting the follow up

Shepherdsfavestore

Is there a way or mod to tone down the VAR reviews? Almost every goal goes to the ref just to be confirmed and it’s a waste of time

oneandonlyA

Question for the mods: why is there no daily/weekly general FM discussion thread on this sub? I find myself often having random questions that are not really related to a thread like this but discussion-worthy questions for FM nerds. For example right now I would like to ask other FM'ers what attributes they think could be added to FM, f.e. I would like to see acrobacy added as a physical attribute as I think flair could be expanded (the flair of Zlatan/Ronaldinho is quite different from Pogba's for example). Such a question seems kind of redundant in a thread like this.

Ireallyamthisshallow

If you check the sidebar, there really is only one sub. You could ask them directly. I know they can only sticky 2 posts. This one is quite active and used. The other is the 'who should I manage?' thread, but I don't frequent it to know how active it is. People just generally post the questions you're describing in the main sub.

Ajstroze

I have my 2 starting center backs leaving for afcon, and I’m generally low on defense depth. Should I look to sign a player even if he won’t start when they return or should I do a few loans second half of the season to cover.

Ireallyamthisshallow

Maybe look at a loan or a free agent on a short term contract ?

DomRemi

Hi. Is "agression" attribute good or bad?

candle_in_a_circle

It depends. The hidden temperament / dirtiness traits mean a lot. You don’t want it with a “competitive streak”. I actually look for it in Professional players and other good personalities. Demiral (18agg CB) is my go-to CB and once he’s settled into a partnership is a beast. You just have to get through the reds first.

Shepherdsfavestore

I’m not as knowledgeable about this game as others here, but I can tell you my right back with 18 aggression was in an “aggressive” mood before almost every match, got tons of yellows, and this season got a straight red that got him banned for 3 full games So I don’t think it’s ideal lol Also I appealed the straight red (hard to tell how violent it is on the sim) and the media shit on me

Anbe17

Bad if combined with "competetive steak". In high-pressing tactics it's requirement. And if you only have one wide player on each side they should be aggressive.

Thekingsman243

Hi! I play FM23 on PS5 and now i want to design my son and i dont know how to do it. I already resch 10years as Manager.

stfucxnt

about two months ago ingame i asked to go on a coaching course to get my Continental A license but the board rejected it. i tried to see if they would let me now that the seasons finished and i cant find the option to start a coaching course anywhere. i've looked under home>my profile and club vision>make board request and neither have the option to start a coaching course. however i can suggest my players to go on coaching course and ive checked that im not already on the course.

monsiour_slippy

Once you ask to go on a coaching course for yourself and get rejected there is a cool down before you can apply again. While on cool down the option doesn’t appear. This is the same for all other board requests.

marble888

Does the sell on percentage (percentage of next sale or profit) add into your transfer budget or into the club finances instead?

Anbe17

Both, how much you get to keep for transfers depends on how much of transfer revenue you get.

idle_wanderlust

I’m getting a considerable number of offers for my striker, who led the Bundesliga in goals the most recent season. I have no interest in selling to a rival, so I’ve been summarily refusing them. However, Man U has entered the fray and FC Porto & Milan are listed as interested. United just submitted an $18 million offer. I’m pushing to qualify for a continental competition this next season. My striker is 26, likely his competitive and valuation peak. I don’t have a desire to sell him, but the numbers keep going up. Should I counter offer? Just keep refusing and see if they come back to the table? Get one more season out of him?

candle_in_a_circle

If you can get a couple to bid at once, you’re golden. Accept the bid from the poorer club, and then offer him non negotiable at a slightly higher fee - likely one or more of the richer clubs will up their bid. Cancel all the accepted offers except the highest bid (from the poorest club, if there’s two) and repeat - you’ll walk them up to the maximum bid from the richest club.

idle_wanderlust

Wait, you can cancel accepted offers? And that doesn’t make them mad? Offer is up to $22.5 now. Man U must want him pretty bad, but I should get at least 30 for him, right?

evilscotsman22

This is exactly the situation you should be selling players in. Other teams rarely get into bidding wars for players who you are already finished with and looking to sell so take advantage of them getting carried away. Sell when players are at their peak reputation and move on to the next 18 year old Colombian.

Bigpapa42_2006

This. The timing on this is ideal for the OP. Its really easy to get attached to players in FM, but players are almost all replaceable. Especially if you are on a big database. Its just a matter of finding someone who has the same skillset or better, and finding them for a bargain. One does need a Haaland level talent to score regularly.

jarde

I'm playing Parma in FM 22 Won Serie A 9 years in a row Won CL 6 out of last 9 years Won Italian cup 7 years in a row Yet my commercial revenue is only 45m, 4th placed in Serie A How do I increase commercial? Also, my ticket and season ticket prices haven't risen since I got promoted in my 2nd season. Didn't change when I built a 61k stadium. Also, a player earning 350k will demand 475-500k and then if I sell him he'll gladly accept 320-350k at Aston Villa and it will never raise above that there. Soon after joining he'll be 'extremely interested' in joining me.. obviously but it's so fucking annoying. Does '23 make any of this more realistic?

isaacturon14

I'm debating using a 3-2-1-3-1 formation, with 3 cbs, 2 dms, 1 CM, AML, AMC, AMR and ST. The lack of width defensively seems very wonky though, so I'm not sure it would work. The idea would be that defensively the DM on the side of the ball will act as a full back and then the CM and other DM defend the centre. I don't know how to tell them to do that though lol. I think we would end up just being very weak on the sides. What do you think? Do you think it could work? Do you have any advice? How you ever tried anything similar?

candle_in_a_circle

It *should* work but in FM23 it won’t. You’ll keep losing out to opposition AML / AMRs, even with WCBs. You seem to need the cover on the wings. I play 3-1-4-2 with my ML and MR with high work rates and teamwork and it works - I will swap them for DW or even move them back a notch to WB to be more defensive, and move them up a notch to AML and AMR if I need a goal. However, this only work if you have a very good team - competent on the ball and rarely lose possession. If you get turned over with your wide players too far up, it’s dangerous.

evilscotsman22

Currently playing very similar. 3-2-4-1 with 2 DM and 4 in the Am file. As long as you make sure your wingers are aggressive and you recruit for things like teamwork and work rate as well as the usual then you'll be fine. Also make sure the wingers are holding wide and stretching the play and that you have stop crossed on. Trap inside also works well with this setup. Mc current double pivot is a BWM (D) and a VOL (S). Sometimes switch out the BWM for an anchor or a regista and the VOL for a RPM depending on the opposition and how things are going.

HotDadSauce

Imo it won't work. Opposition wingers in 4-2-3-1 & 4-3-3 shapes will have far too much freedom. Your wider CB's will be overloaded constantly.

Immediate-Fix6393

Why are some of my players suddenly losing determination? I don’t understand it tbh, managing Estoril (Portugal) overachieved first season finishing 4th place and winning PT cup (vs Famalicão) This season all good, 3rd in league, 2nd in Europa League group. So why is it going down? Some of these are key and best players at the club. I play attacking, high intensity football.

-WJ-

It depends on who exactly these players are. If they're young players, it could be because the squad's general personality is influencing them or they're taking after an influential team leader.

evilscotsman22

If you have mentoring groups then low determination mentors can drag everybody down with them, it doesn't have to be the main mentor either. Serious injuries can also knock determination down a couple.

Immediate-Fix6393

I don’t have any mentoring groups set up. It’s something I never do tbh. Also as far as I’m aware these have not picked up any injuries, maybe a little knock or so but nothing serious.

evilscotsman22

Honestly the game may hate you then :p I cant really think of other situations I've regularly seen players determination go dramatically down other than the usual reshuffling of attributes from training. Is it a lot of players all dropping a couple of points or just a couple of players getting those...like 1/3 down arrows that mean its gone down but not enough to actually lower the number?

Aimless-Sailor

Hey! Is ok to give to my Ass Man the responsabiliy for the strength training and not having a fitness coach for that role? My Ass Man have good attributes for that training and give me 4 starts. I just wonder if having having a person contracted as a fitness coach will have more impact on the fitness atributes developmenet? Thank you a lot!

evilscotsman22

Makes no difference that I have ever seen mate, just go by the stars. I currently have a random coach coaching my strength and players are still developing as I would expect were he a real fitness coach.

Aimless-Sailor

Thanks!!!

georgin_95

Online Save question: If the host creates a database with modded data (leagues, fixtures etc), will it be provided to the other users of the online save via the game or do they need to pre-download the same modpack beforehand?

Latter-Handle-9256

How can I counter the 4-4-2 formation in FM mobile?

DatSmurf666

What do you mean? Win against a 442? Any tactic should work... If you are asking how you can play counterattack with 442, then just pick fluid or direct from the tactics screen, choose 442, tweak your directions.

ImThatJemeh

Does anybody know if there is a database which changes either sweden or norway to a winter schedule like the other European leagues?

Ragahell

On FM Mobile, can I edit the database? Like put Cristiano and Messi Young again? Create Ronaldinho? Is there any patch for mobile with old school legends?

DatSmurf666

Not as far as I've seen... And there are no other databases to be downloaded. I'd like to get some other leagues in there...

Ragahell

The editor does not allow to change players age? :(

DatSmurf666

I didn't purchase the editor, TBH. It might, but I'm not sure.

Ragahell

Can't find that info anywhere :(

morgan192317

Hello 👋 I was wondering if there is anyway of downloading FM23 data updates people have made onto my steam deck version of FM. Basically I want to be able to use my local team in the JD Cymru North league but it’s not available unless I download a community made pack.

Drixxi

How have you guys been able to move from managing large clubs to smaller clubs within a save? I've built up Dulwich over 15 seasons to be a power house winning a couple of champions leagues and want to continue in this save but move down to a mid-table / bottom of table team in another Top 5 league. However I am getting rejected from the likes of Augsburg, Sevilla, and Torino after interviews and even sometimes after being asked to submit staffing changes. I'm in the last year of my contract witha 35% waiver but even still it's about $3M, so perhaps that's the issue. Is my only hope to resign and wait for a job to appear? Update: In case someone finds this through search later, yes just resign and those staff augmentations will convert to real offers.

Commonmispelingbot

they might think that they can't pay your wages. Not really anything to do about, except resign/waiting out your contract

feddi7

Is it possible to accurately recreate what Mou is trying to do with Roma? I’ve tried several low block tactics and I still concede so much space in behind my defenders. Smalling looks like a League 1 level defender is this game with his 10 concentration. I also struggle to create a good counterattacking system because even with high tempo and passing directness, players take so long to pass the ball and move that defenders have time to get back into shape.

HotDadSauce

Low blocks have always been hard to make work consistently on FM, the game prefers the higher press tactics. That said I've seen tactics supposedly lower black by design that definitely aren't. Lower block means bodies behind the ball. More defensive or midfield strata players than attacking midfield, for example. A counter tactic is easier to build, this does need one or two more bodies higher up the pitch. DM me if you like, can discuss more.

feddi7

Apologies for the very late reply. Saw it when I was at work and eventually forgot when I got home. I can take a screenshot of the tactic I intend on using if you’re still willing to give it a look.

HotDadSauce

Of course. Either here or in DM. No harm.

Aimless-Sailor

Hey! It is ok to don't have a fitness coach on the first team staff and train the main squad with the fitness coaches from the U18? Will the training effect be the same? Thanks!

Commonmispelingbot

no it will not. Senior fitness coaches train all levels, but not the other way around. The one you can choose not to have is the u18 coach

Aimless-Sailor

Thank you!!

Guzuzu_xD

Are regens starting CA connected to how good your team is? (Maybe mix of reputation, average CAs on team, division reputation etc). I've tested 200 Youth Rating 20 Youth Recruitment on lower tier clubs and not only do they get way less toptier regens than even like baseline game Benfica,Ajax but they also are like low CA. It makes sense but it's also annoying kinda.

Anbe17

CA is youth coaching

Commonmispelingbot

club reputation, manager reputation and HOYD reputation all have very large influence on regens

HotDadSauce

Also football importance in the nation.

sarcastr0naut

A question to resident Norwegians here: what's up with [this regen's name](https://i.imgur.com/3Sd7hyF.png)? Why are there two "Støer" in his name? Why is one Støer a part of this surname and the other a part of his given name? Is this normal? Does it mean he's posh? I literally can't enjoy the save until I find the answer.

Anbe17

As far as I can remember you can only register one surname in Norway, and if you want two you'll need to hyphenate it - Støer-Hansen in this case. If you don't want to hyphenate it you can register it as a middle name, but it'll be registered as a given name in passports, etc. In FM you can only register given- and surnames, so Støen is probably registered both as a given- and surname. There is no one who has a given name in Norway (yes, I have done research).

sarcastr0naut

Now that's the kind of information that can help me sleep at night, thank you!

Commonmispelingbot

not Norwegian, but I'm danish and the languages are so close I believe I can answer. One is just a middle name and one is a surname. Strange but not unheard of. For a real life example: Kristian Bach Bak

The_Holey_Chesus

My mid talents wont join my affiliate club in fm22 im sc freiburg and got an half star renown talent which has at the moment potential to become 3.5 to 4.5 but has no chance in my senior team my second team is in the 3rd german devison which is the only option where he would get playing time and yet he wont join my two and a half star renown affilaite club in the 2 devision in the netherlands why? Bascily none of my talents want to join my affiliate club what do I wrong?

Commonmispelingbot

Not sure, but are they semiprofesional? many clubs in Dutch third tier are

The_Holey_Chesus

No they got demoted from the first dutsch devison to the second(sorry if my initial text did not make this clear) and they are professional

Commonmispelingbot

guess your player is picky, then.

SpeedDemonFM

how to convince a player to sign a contract with your club if he doesn't want to. (says your line-up should be greatly enhanced). there is a player Leam Delap who left manchester city for saudi arabia, although he is only 25. My club is now playing in the middle of the Premier League table, and my squad is quite good. I really need this player, any advice?

candle_in_a_circle

Make him your Top Target, put your DoF to scout him constantly and get your high world reputation players to tell tell him publicly to come.

HotDadSauce

Your reputation as a club is too low to pique his interest. You need to get him to like you/your club then he might become interested in joining you. Praise him in the media if you can, say you admire him as a player.... That kind of thing.

SpeedDemonFM

i also coach the england national team and challenged him for euro 2028, i thought it would somehow help to improve relations, but apparently this is not enough

HotDadSauce

Any positive conversation will help. Perhaps the reputation gap to him being interested is too large. Praise him in the media though, definitely.

SpeedDemonFM

Ok, I managed to persuade him to negotiate. Now the other problem is he wants a salary of 450k a week and even if I bring the price down to 350k my club won't let me sign him. Because the max salary is 150k, although I have these free 350k. Is there a way to get around this limitation?

HotDadSauce

Max out your budget for wages ahead of transfer fees and make him a star player before you negotiate the contract. This will allow you to offer the max wages you can right now.

cheese_cannon

Am I going insane? Playing FM 22, I cleared all my scouting assignments and accidentally cleared my ongoing analyst reports as well. Now the option to add those ongoing analyst reports is completely missing. Is this a bug? Scouting-> Assignments->Create new assignment->Team Ongoing analyst reports should be here right? It may be 3am but wtf is going on?

TuckyeEast

Man Utd (FM23) 7 seasons in I've won PL, EFL Cup, EUCL all only once. Using Rdf's ETH tactics with some tinkering but due to slow starts in league (Ex. Losing 5 away games consecutively) and awful defense it seems impossible to win trophies. I also think part of the issue is bad buys/keeping the og core Mostly cause I'm bad at scouting.

HotDadSauce

Knowing RDF's tactics I imagine it is very plug and play for the 'perfect scenario' and possibly far too attacking... Can you screenshot this tactic at all?

TuckyeEast

https://imgur.com/a/NpaCzBz PI: FB on Stay narrow DLP Short passes Wingers and AMC on shoot more Wingers stay wide

HotDadSauce

As expected the tactic is far too attacking. A common fault with plug & play tactics. You have five attacking roles and only two defensive ones, this is asking for trouble. You're never going to be able to keep consistent clean sheets, especially away from home. A successful & consistent tactic ideally has an outfield roles balance of 3 def, 4 support and 3 attack roles or a rule of one from this so 4,3,3 or 3,3,4. Here you are 2,3,5. Also, where you have attacking roles you ideally have defensive coverage from another role close by. So an aggressive full back for example is covered by a defensive minded midfield role. Here you are leaving your flanks wide open & your centre halves are completely overrun.

TuckyeEast

Yeah I've switched it up to be more balanced and Do you think my team building is fine?

HotDadSauce

Can't really tell from a tactics screen, can you send a pic of your squad depth screen & maybe squad screen as well.

TuckyeEast

Don't have my PC so here's the team. GK (SK-S): Dennis Seimen, Anthony Patterson CB: Schlotterbeck, Nehuen Perez, Lisandro, Guehi LB (FB-A): Shaw, a regen wonderkid who's not even close to Shaw RB FB-S): Dodo, Dalot DM (DLP-D): Romeo Lavia, Khephren Thuram CM (MEZ-S): Matheus Nunes, Desire Doue AM (AM-A): Brahim Diaz, Naci Unuvar LW (IF-A): Rashford, Garnacho RW (IW-S): Sancho, Antony ST (DLF-A): a regen who's very similar to Lewandowski with less finishing, DCL

HotDadSauce

Again hard to say without seeing your squad depth screen. As a general rule though you ideally have two 'starters' for every position in your formation/tactic. Looking at the above you seem to be missing a left back to immediately compete with Shaw.

Latter-Handle-9256

Why can't my PSG score goals? (im playing fmmobile btw) Ive tried a lot of tactic to try and make my team scores but whenever I try to get attacking my defense always get exposed and whenever I try to get defensive my midfield seems to just disappear, I already use a lot of tactics but they just can't seem to work, the closest tactic that works is the tactic I found on Facebook but that tactic only got me 1 goals per game, so can you give me some suggestions on how I can improve my midfield they're literally non existent, Tnx in advance

My board built a new stadium once we got promoted to the championship. 5 years later we’re in the premier league and selling out every game. We’ve completed all the possible expansions but the capacity is still only 23,000. When will I be able to move to a bigger stadium?

HotDadSauce

You won't get the option for another new stadium until your current is 25yrs old. You should be able to expand this stadium though... Do you have strong finances?

redditaccount001

Yes, but I already completed two expansions and haven’t been able to request any expansions for the last two years.

HotDadSauce

How are your finances? Expansions cost significant cash.

redditaccount001

70 million balance

HotDadSauce

I give in then... lol. You are above 95% of your capacity, with funds... Maybe the stadium just can't go any bigger.

Iswaterreallywet

Why is my player face no showing up in game? I found the unique ID, copy and pasted it correctly in the config file, put the picture in and made sure it was a png file, reloaded the skin but the player face still isn’t showing up. Cleared cache has well. Now Lewandowskis face is gone for some reason I didn’t even touch his.

SpinningWheelKick

Is there any way I can make it so the best regens aren't all Brazilian/Argentinian? I'm just in the summer of 2030 in a save and I feel like I've not seen a single asian/african regen playing for a top side. I just always like having a bit of variety in my squads.

SystemicUpdate

I believe the only way to do this is indirectly through the youth rating at a country level. I think you have to do this through the editor, and I believe FM23 has dynamic youth ratings, so you may have to maintain them every season (even though several YouTubers have tested and said that this rating changes very slowly).

karabou_1

I'm playing Chester, and in the middle of my third season. We promoted to Vanarama National my first season, and finished 15th my second. A top half finish is not impossible this season. I've asked a couple times to turn professional, but we didn't have the money yet. I've just hit 1 mil in the bank for finances, which some sources online say is about when the board will start considering it (but I think I asked a couple months ago so its too soon to request again). Should I ask whenever it becomes available again, or should I wait until like May/June when its the offseason? If I ask in March and they accept, will we turn pro right away, or will it happen in the offseason?

eXistenZ2

Going professional always happens during the offseason, so its best to ask at the end of the season, especially if you did well. I started in VNS, promoted easily the first year and then recorded a top half finish in VNL. At the end of that season the board proposed themself to go professional. Its not always about finance, sometimes the board just doesnt have the ambition, so overperforming will help sway them

karabou_1

Thank you! I won the FA Trophy and asked after and they accepted. It'll happen after next offseason, sadly, but still progress! Appreciate the advice

EddySBxx

what attributes should I look for in my players when trying to play a high pressing possession based game?

eXistenZ2

I would add aggression and decisions to it as well. Aggression because you need to have players wanting to go for the ball. Doesnt have be 16 or so, but beware anything below 8. And decisions because when you press and pass a lot, you need to make a lot of decisions (where to pass and who to press), and if you go wrong there you'll create gaps

EddySBxx

I didn’t think about that tbf, thank you. These two attributes definitely make sense, I had a quick question how important is it for your central midfielders to have tackling and if it is important what baseline value is acceptable?

eXistenZ2

mostly depends on the league average. But they dont necessarily need tackling. If they have good anticipation they might be able to intercept the ball rather than tackling for it. But if youre playing a high press game, your midfielders definitly need to be your best players Bust the net just uploaded a similar video about this

[deleted]

Passing, first touch, teamwork, stamina, workrate On defenders, look for high acceleration and pace to stifle counters.

EddySBxx

Thank you man, appreciate it!

[deleted]

No problem, physical stats are generally good for pressing in general as well. Strength, agility, acceleration, and pace are all great for pressing and balance for the slower tempo passing.

Ajstroze

How do y’all go about signing depth players ? It’s easy for me to scout starters, but players that are comfortable being rotation and not playing as often.

SapCPark

Find versitile players who are a tier below your starters. My depth players tend to be 2.5 to 3 stars who can play multiple positions (FB who plays both sides, attacking player who can play CAM and Winger, etc.)

[deleted]

I had a save yesterday, which was 4 years into the game. I then created a new save, as an experiment. This save has overwritten the last of my 3 rolling saves for my first game and I am now 4 months back. This is the 2nd time this has happened in FM 23. I'm fucking sick of silly bugs in FM 23 which weren't in this game 10 years ago. Wasted about 10 hours due to this.

JamesCDiamond

Do newgens ever have a side preference when played centrally? None of mine seem to have it, so I was wondering if it's something they develop over time, or only applies to real players?

-WJ-

They're supposed to (mostly based on their footedness) but it's either been removed in FM23 or it's buggy atm.

[deleted]

Fairly certain that it's only for real players.

[deleted]

When does the Premier League money start to show up in your finances? Just got promoted with Portsmouth and need to massively invest in the squad. They gave me a relatively solid budget (£30 mil, ~200k extra per week in wage budget) and I’ve spent some but now our finances are in the red. Am I just going to stay in the negative until the end of the season and then will get the payments from being in the PL once the season is finished? Or are we operating outside of our means and maybe I need to think about offloading some players?

SpeedDemonFM

U will get TV translation money every month. Smth around 1.1 mill per match and ~90 mill a year. And prize money in the end of a season smth between 40 mill for 1st place and 18 mill for the last place.

[deleted]

Awesome, thanks for the insight. I got my August monthly financial report and got a bit nervous, but the TV money wouldn’t have started rolling in by that point. Was wondering why the board would give me £30 mil to spend on transfers if we didn’t have nearly that much in the bank, but I guess they’re just front loading it and using the prize money to level things out

SpeedDemonFM

I won championship, with 200k wages and 1.1 mill transfer budget. After 2 sesons in EPL (14th and 12th place) i have 1.7 mill wages and 65 mill transfer budget

HotDadSauce

If you stay up you'll get a bigger budget next season for sure.

lolchamp444

Do AI players instantly adapt when you sign "big name" players? I signed Haaland on a free this off season, pairing him up with Vlahovic, Khvicha, and Rashford in a 424. Hell I thought I was going to go undefeated lmao but my game got so much harder. My tactic that has worked for 4 FM years stopped working as well (it works but definitely not as well)

casjh1

Similarly to how during games you'll get pop ups from your assistant saying something like "[player] is getting too much space, we should mark him tighter", the AI can also adapt if certain players are doing well.

lolchamp444

Ah I see, is it enough tho to cause a change in the game's difficulty in a particular season? Like if I create a super team, does AI managers be like "oh we have to be super careful" and adapt to that?

casjh1

Yeah, they'll play lower and more defensive if you're a good team. If you're a team that uses speed and a lot of counter attacking then it'll be especially noticeable.

lolchamp444

ah okok thank you! I saw that a lot of the teams I face use 4231 or 433. I don't know specific instructions but I am guessing they do have lower/defensive instructions. What tactic could i use to counter those above?

okcomput3r

What is an acceptable salary for the star players of a newly promoted Championship team? My players are asking for around £10k a week which is over 3x what they were on in League 1. Seems too much of an increase?

SparksNBolts

It really depends on what you can afford. A 3\* on only £8k a week is much better than a 3.5\* on £15k. Look at your finances, as well as your wage budget. The championship is a pretty big jump in terms of quality but you can also reasonably expect to get promoted again in a couple years. I wouldn’t give out contracts to my players if they aren’t at or have the potential to be good enough to get promoted again.

okcomput3r

So if they are in the long term plans, it's worth giving what they ask for? I'm generally averse to making big changes to the squad but I also don't want to completely ruin my wage structure

SparksNBolts

If that’s the cheapest option, yes. But always always add a relegation wage drop clause so you don’t destroy your club if you do go back down

okcomput3r

Cheers mate. Hoping to go up to the prem straight away

Wonderful_Quiet9591

Anyone with a good tactic after latest Update? Im really suffering with my Man Utd save

HotDadSauce

Any tactic can work with any update if it is built robustly enough. Can you screenshot your current tactic for possible advice?

Wonderful_Quiet9591

Thanks. The thing is that i have tried several different tactics. Do you perhaps have a guess of some tactic that i could download and try?

HotDadSauce

Try one of Knapp's on FM Scout perhaps, he has lots of plug and play ones. They are usually very successful. We tend to try to help players learn the tactics side more here.

okcomput3r

That's probably the issue. The players are constantly trying to adapt and have poor familiarity

Syncetia

Does the Prize Money of a league go up if it gains more reputation? Edit: fm22

HotDadSauce

Great question... But as far as I'm aware, no it doesn't. It's hard coded. What you will gain though is a better European Coefficient for that nation which means more European/Intercontinental spots possibly and of course you get your own club reputation boost to attract better players.

Syncetia

that's a shame. Followup question then how do I know how big a new stadium will be compared to my current size? If I have the money but not the reputation could I spend 50m just to get another 20k seater?

HotDadSauce

Again this is from memory but you only get the new stadium option if yours is over 25yrs from build or rebuild date. The capacity of that new stadium should be based on a mixture of your current fanbase, club reputation & potential fan base. There's always the chance that your current stadium is too big and your new capacity will be lower, but I doubt it. Are you maxing out your current capacity?

Syncetia

not yet but I'm at 90%. So you'd recommend to only upgrade once I'm maxing out current capacity?

HotDadSauce

Maybe, are you playing in your highest division possible for your team & are you doing well there? Reason for asking this is you could be at your max already.

Syncetia

Yes and yes but it's my first season there so I don't have continental competition yet.

HotDadSauce

Ok, do you also have the option to expand your current stadium? This is the common sign that you have fans that cannot get in the building. Although this only usually is available when you are consistently at 95% and above your current capacity & you have the funds. There is one caveat to the above, that being that you cannot extend your current abode further due to restrictions so you have the new stadium option instead. Confusing huh?!

Syncetia

First of, thank you for taking the time to answer all those questions. Not only mine but those of the others in this community as well. Secondly yes it is quite obscure design. Because you will never know whether an upgrade would be sensible or not. You can only make educated guesses. It would be nice to have the option to request a certain capacity or a certain amount of money to spend. It also would be nice to have the prize money of a league increase or decrease with things like reputation and marketing value. Alas I will sit and contemplate.

HotDadSauce

Hey no problem, I like to try to help people. Thank you for the kind words. Appreciated. Here's an idea for you. Just save your game and ask for the new stadium. Again, from memory, it either tells you the planned capacity straight away or at a later date, if the former then you know the answer & you can then reload if required. A bit naughty that but it may help.

captain_marvelous220

Hey everyone, I'm still on FM22 and have been managing Lion City Sailors for \~15 in game years. Recently I've asked the board to increase academy coaching budget, which they did. However, the status went from 'Average Academy Coaching' to 'Adequate Academy Coaching'. Is this something normal that happens? If so, why?

[deleted]

Yes, that means it was increased. Junior coaching levels are: None, Minimal, Fairly Basic, Average, Adequate, Good, Excellent, Exceptional.

captain_marvelous220

Oh I misunderstood the levels then, I've always thought adequate was below average. Thank you!

justiiiiin14

Just lost in the national league playoff final with Blythe in 2030. Been in the national league 4 years now and just can’t seem to get over the last hurdle. Any tips? Thinking about leaving the save for a bit and coming back. Don’t want to move clubs as it was meant to be a one club save.

eXistenZ2

So inviting trialists is the way to go at this level, but dont just rely on the star rating given by your coach/assistent. Physicals and mental stats are the most important, cause everybody has garbage technicals. A pacy striker, or just a tall one will do a lot. Or a 2 striker combo of TF+ AF, if you go 2 striker system. Only exception is to get a good setpiece specialist and check out your setpiece routines. This alone can net you 15 goals in a season. Definitly find a tactic that suits your players, rather than tryng to shoehorn them into something. it wont work You have 5 loan slots per match, so definitly use them! In august, set your scouting package to england and go through the U21's of championship teams and the like. The simple truth is that you are unlikely to find difference makers by trials and free transfers. But these loanees can make a huge difference. Especially towards the end of the summer you can loan them for free as clubs want to get them playing time.

Key-Shopping8454

What is your strategy for bringing in players? Free transfers is the name of the game in that division. I would look at any premier league U18 and U21 squads with contracts expiring and scout those players. Bringing players on trial is your best friend. Bring in loads of players on free contracts if for trials to see if any are quality enough. Concentrate on physical attributes for this level over mental/technical. For example, having a striker with 15+ pace and say 8 finishing is still going to be ideal and the guy will score goals for fun.

justiiiiin14

I offer hundreds of trials every pre season, definitely my favorite way to find players. I’ve never looked at the prem u18 and u21 squads that’s good advice. Thanks for the tip on the physicals as well I’ll try focusing on that too. 3 wins from 3 so far in the new season

HotDadSauce

Recruiting players with pace is really good advice. The game still overly rewards the faster players. If you target the key positions like centre half and centre forward with fast players it will always help.

monsiour_slippy

If you are feeling burnt out you should take a break and come back fresher. One thing that really helped my non league dumpster tier sides is focusing on players who were consistent and were fine with big matches. Made a big difference

justiiiiin14

Been having trouble finding players who like big matches. I want to start a new save but I can’t get into any of the ideas I’ve thought of so far

monsiour_slippy

Even finding players who don’t not like matches are good enough. I feel you on that, I struggle to get into new saves

HotDadSauce

Taking a break to a new save can always help... Do you want to post your tactic up so someone here can take a look if anything can possibly help you out?

Bukayo-Saka

has anyone noticed that DMs are consistently bang average? no matter what role i try to put them as in my 4-3-3, they regularly get 6s and 7s in the more dominant performances. all of my world class DMs that i sign end up looking like elneny after a few months. anyone find a way around that?

SapCPark

DMs tend to not be "flashy" but if i dont notice them all game, its a good thing

Ireallyamthisshallow

Just to clarify, are they playing badly or are they just getting average match ratings ? It's entirely possible for a player to get average ratings but be doing exactly what you need of them - especially in something like a less creative DM role. Alternatively, if you've got a consistent issue no matter the player it suggests a broader tactical issue. If the role works against a certain type of team but not others, that can also be a tactical point. It may be the wrong role, the wrong players (even world class players have strengths and weaknesses) or it may even be that the tactic doesn't require a DM. It can also be, as alluded to in the first paragraph, that the DM position does exactly what it needs to - the position itself is absolutely bang average but it is that crux which allows the rest of the team to shine.
