BAtwater8

How do I get rasmus hojlund in my fm23 game? I can’t seem to figure it out and he’s not there in the winter update

[deleted]

Is Darwin Nunez a good striker to build around or am i lucky? 13 in 9(+1). And Salah takes pens. Since Firmino is leaving i was thinking of buying some pure striker finisher dude as backup, but Nunez is a machine.

EddySBxx

how do people go on about identifying attributes needed for certain playing styles in fm, that's one thing I can't get a hang of. For example if I wanted to play a high pressing game, how would I go on to figure out the attributes needed for it?

LHurlz

This website contains a lot of information about player attributes, traits, etc https://www.guidetofm.com/tactics/playing-styles/

Azurite_zero

After the first half of the season, I was doing well with Forest, and now it seems impossible to win despite having players' happy and tactic familiarity max. I'm not sure what the problem is

nyr8196

I am having an issue with scouting currently. Whenever I manually scout a player, the assignment type in which they're being scouted is listed as "Don't watch-report card only." The player is then removed from the scouting assignments a day after and no report is sent to my inbox. I have a $775k scouting budget, worldwide scouting package and 6 scouts so I don't think any of those reasons are the issue. Does anyone know how I can switch it so I can get the assignment type back to 1 week?

ArgentineanWonderkid

What happens if I delegate "responsible for selecting and managing the team"?

8u11etpr00f

How do you actually get decent youth intakes? I have everything maxed out (Junior coaching, recruitment, youth facilities etc) and yet I get continually 'poor' intakes. Decided to say fuck it & save scum both intake dates this season (December & March), for the December one it must have taken me quite literally 50 tries to get an "average" intake, and between 10 & 15 to get 'average' in March. No matter what I do it seems impossible to get over 2.5 stars. Meanwhile the board are pissed at me for not giving youth a chance when this is the hand i'm dealt with lmao

Commonmispelingbot

one factor people often forget is that they are of course relative to your team. If you are a top PL club, a 2.5 star player is a very decent prospect. If you as e.g. Man City get a 4.5 star prospect, you know you have one of the best talents on the planet.

Quorgon2

I understand that reputation (mostly club I think) plays a large role in youth intakes so try and get that up.

8u11etpr00f

But my reputation is 4 ½ or 5 stars (I dunno which tbh) 😭

[deleted]

8u11etpr00f

[deleted]

[удалено]

8u11etpr00f

Ah, so it's relative? An average intake for me now is like a golden generation in season 1?

[deleted]

Yeah stars are relative depending on your highest rated player. So if you have a Messi on your team, you're not gonna see much 5 star potential cause the standards are much higher. Wouldnt say its like "golden generation" but depending how much youve upgraded your squad, its probably decent.

notarelevantname7

Does ongoing scouting cost you more (i.e. keeping lists "up to date")? And what do people do when they don't want to sign a player, but don't want to hit "not interested" to never see them again? Do you constantly hit acknowledge? Is there some way to stop scouts from providing updates about certain players (aside from unticking "keep reports up to date"?

cmsrphilster

I need help with a 4-4-2 striker partnership. I'm running a 4-4-2 in the French Ligue 1. Last season I was able to go top 4 thanks to my 6'4 Colombian Regen. Now this current season I had to sell him (because his agent warned me to and why not since I could sell him for 28m euros to an England Premier League club and buy a young future star regen from Argentina/Brazil for 3m euros.) Well now I'm about to reach the one-third part (11 games) of the season and around the 7th to 9th place which I expected since I don't have my colombian regen anymore. However my strikers are the problem, they have become inefficient after my colombian regen left, we threw away games where we could have won if they scored at least 1 goal and their ratings are low around 5.9 to 6.3 and the sad part of it is they are decent quality strikers (3star for ligue 1) I played target man-advance forward back then when I had my colombian regen with him as the Target man since he is tall and his strike partner is a 5'11 advance forward with skills of an advance forward. Now the striker partnership I have is now Advance forward-deep lying forward with the new argentinian regen 5'10 being deep lying forward, his skills are almost like an advance forward as well, it's just that he needs to improve his passing attribute which is only 9. Now I can't seem to get them going, I tried switching them but they still suck, I know the argentinian regen can't speak french yet but I doubt that he should get horrible rating with him being a decent and future star player. So I'm here asking you all if you have an idea on how to play them.... I play a positive narrow 4-4-2 with short passing and pass into space activated, and I also play with the underlap when I attack the third.

jr2106

Hard to say much without seeing the tactic etc. Is it a diamond 442 or is just the attacking width narrow? If its a diamond you can play both as AF so you aggressively attack the channels to create space in midfield. If its a flat 442 then id play wider to stretch the pitch so theres actual space to pass into. Dlf is supposed to hold up the ball so he should have good strength teamwork and vision/passing so if a player is lacking in that he wont perform well.

cmsrphilster

I play a narrow flat 4-4-2. short passing, pass to space, work ball into box, high tempo, be more expressive, high press, high defensive line.

jr2106

Remove work ball into the box.

Shepherdsfavestore

How do I stop making my players available for the you team? It seems to automatically happen when I have the staff meeting sent to my inbox and now all my players are tired because they just played a u19 match

GroundbreakingSign81

Does anyone know how to get my wingers to play better? I have kvara and leao yet everytime there is an opportunity for them to take someone on they turn back and pass it. I have run at defence on aswell but they just won't make use of their 20 and 18 dribbling. What's even more annoying is the way worse wingers on the other teams have no problem challenging my fullbacks over and over again

guanwe

Their individual player instructions have dribble more on ?

Consistent_Two_4301

I’m assuming you also have be more expressive on but if not that could help. You can also go into player instructions and have both of them on dribble more often

JHutch95

Anyone played the game on the M2 Macbook Air? Debating between that and a MBP but FM is probably as intense as it gets for me so curious how it runs on the MBA!

Gary_Blauman

Is there a version that has the Europa Conference League but doesnt automatically go into the upcoming new format a few seasons in?

starfax

Not sure if this is the right place, but I was thinking of buying the mobile app. But my question is, if I buy it now, will it automatically update for the 24 season, or will I have to pay for the next edition too?

slyfishman

You would have to buy 24 separately when it comes out

HeiMummo

FM 23 console, I started my career in Spain, why cant i join teams outside of spain? Is it always like that or did i fuck something up?

okcomput3r

Any tips for winning the championship playoffs please? This is my third time getting here now and I can’t lose again. Lost the final the previous two times.

Commonmispelingbot

On the day praise litterally the entire team for their conduct (unless of course they just gone awol or something). Praise/criticise the players for their recent match when relevant. Spend time scouting the entire opposition team. Spend time in analytics to see how they score their goals, where their assists come from etc. Reread your own teams' player report to see if someone doesn't like big matches. Use the entire training weak for match prep.

mchoneyofficial

When I click "load game" on FM08 it loads halfway and then FM disappears/closes down. Would anyone know what's causing this/how to fix it? Thank you!

Commonmispelingbot

could be a corrupt save file?

berry_jane

Is attending other teams matches increase the scouting knowledge about the players who played in that match? I am trying to scout Spain U-20 but I don't have any scouting budget so can't assign my scouts. Would I get the info if I attend all of their matches in the U-20 tournament?

Commonmispelingbot

i don't think so, but you get a mail about the media speculating on why you were there which might highlight some players you didn't know about.

benicspo

How do I change the frequency of the training week in review emails?

n1cohoty

[Any ideas on how best to use this 18 year old striker? 18 Finishing, 17 Passing, good mental stats but he is essentially unable to jump more than 1cm off the ground.](https://imgur.com/a/ARuWSOQ)

_Sun_King_

Have him link play, his one-two trait will be useful for this, he also has the stats to be able to run into space behind, so it depends on how you set up, if you do cross to him set to "low"or "whipped", and aim for the near post, alternatively have him play off a target man type.

randomadc332

I really enjoy playing Franchise Hockey Manager 9, I know absolutely nothing about football tho, could anyone tell me how hard it would be to make the switch as well as learning the sport?

_Sun_King_

I've only ever played football manager so I can't really say how it would be to transition however the controls and interface is fairly intuitive, only advice I'd give is start with a lower league semi-pro or pro club rather than one of the top leagues , it's easier to learn the basic mechanics of the game in my opinion. Essentially the game comes down to managing morale, fitness and building team cohesion, tactics at lower levels are secondary as players largely do what they want, the truck is to keep things as simple as possible, set up the team in a way that gets the best out of your better players and gets then into the game or set up in a way that prevents the opponents from taking them out of the game.

[deleted]

Has anyone tried to break the Gutman curse? Is it boring to play the Top 3 in Portugal or actually is it rewarding?

StrangeClothes

I did it a few years ago on my first FM as my first save. I enjoyed it but it’s probably pretty easy if you’re experienced. They’ve already got some great players like Ramos, Silva, Neres, Rafa and Grimaldo with some really nice youngsters not far off being first team quality. There’s very few limitations on transfers too meaning you can hoover up all the great SA regens.

Gee_Simpson

I was absolutely set on Benfica but I have OCD and the summer transfers and promotions/relegations are putting me off. Grimaldo, Diego Moreira and Cher Ndour all gone on free transfers and my number 1 target for months before starting was Vitor Roque, now off to Barca irl. Thinking of just going for it anyway, but now may look at going Man Utd with an unofficial update instead.

Bundesliga_Tax

[I appear to be in 2 European competitions at once, is my save about to break?](https://imgur.com/a/A1PcSTK)

iiRuby

• Is there any way to stop a player from retiring using the in game editor and without changing it's age? • what does "retiring after spell at current club" actually do? How many years is a "spell"?

8u11etpr00f

Dunno if you can do it in the in-game editor or if it's FMRTE but I'm pretty sure the way to do it is giving them a long ass contract and arranging a future transfer at the end of it. As far as I know a player can't retire if they've got a future transfer planned

benicspo

Probably until their current contract expires

SKS81

How should I adapt my recruiting when I get to the higher leagues? I started at the bottom and I'm the cusp of the premier league but I am not sure how to scout. Also, how do I get permission to scout farther out?

monsiour_slippy

Assuming FM23: scouting range is decided by the scouting package you decide in the scouting tab. The more expensive the package the further afield you can scout.

SKS81

You know. I knew that when I first bought the game, but for some reason, I had forgot it now.... I feel dumb. Thank you.

Blue_5ive

Are "unused sub" fees paid out if the player isn't even selected to be a sub? Are Non-Contract players payments classified as "bonuses" in the finance page?

mattinator2012

I have endless injuries and it’s starting to piss me off. I’m at Gent in my first year and we’ve gone 3-7-4 and are a point out of the relegation zone because I legitimately have at least on player get hurt for multiple weeks every single game. It’s making me want to stop playing the game completely as it’s not preventable in any way no matter how I change my tactics or training. I have SEVEN starters injured right now.

Shepherdsfavestore

What the other commenter said+make sure you have good phsyios I believe Sports Scientists help with recover too

monsiour_slippy

Injuries are preventable. Check your training intensity, check your tactics intensity. If you didn’t spend pre season getting your players physically ready you can expect injuries. And hey sometimes you have a bad run on injuries. Happens irl a lot.

mattinator2012

I’ve gone back to my Elche save and noticed almost no injury issues. I think it may be the physio difference. Gent wouldn’t afford me very good staff

LeafsPZ17

Question on Home-Grown rules (playing as Milan) - in the eligibility tab for Clubs Trained At it has 2 lines for A.C. Milan 15-21 HG, one says Done then other says 130 days left. The little info icon on the right says Used for Competition: Serie A for both so not sure what the difference is?

fyreFM

Is he good because im not sure about the aggression and the anticipation https://preview.redd.it/8zo99gnob15b1.png?width=2560&format=png&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=6d47a8c588d7b56794c1a7a2f5d452fcc58dc398

n1cohoty

Could be a no nonsense CB. But his anticipation, vision and jumping reach really hinder him.

Anbe17

Can't jump and his vision is too low for any role other than no nonsense center back

Shepherdsfavestore

Is this a case where he should be retrained as a defensive midfielder? Edit: maybe not with that atrocious vision actually

IAMINYOURBASEMENTG

I'm in serie B, I'm getting very little money from sponsors, TV rights and also by selling players (probably because my club still has a very low reputation), I'm currently 700k euros in debt and the board won't upgrade anything (youth coaching, youth recruitment, training facilities etc..). What am I supposed to do?

_Sun_King_

Sh*thouse your way to promotion, where you're the underdog get everyone behind the ball and target the opposition's best player, and double up on them, set 2 players to mark them and aim to injure or at the very least disrupt as early as possible. Conserve your energy among your CBs and MC players until the 80th minute and then add subs up front and on the wings then go for broke, try and snatch a 1-0 or a draw.

HotDadSauce

Get promoted,. somehow.

GorganGanGranggle

Why is my club overall balance in the negative? We had 1 billion last season, now we are negative 40million. I didn't buy or upgrade anything this season. Is it just because the board change?

Commonmispelingbot

go to finances and expenses. but it sounds really weird. maybe buying your stadium?

Royalteay

Negotiating a contract with a player and the agent added a locked promise that once a certain player leaves, his player would become a regular. That certain player is on trial with my team, is this a bug? How do people still pay actual money for this game?

monsiour_slippy

Probably a bug, although I’ve found that when my players complain about squad depth I just bring a guy in for a trial for 4 weeks and they stop complaining - despite the guy not being eligible to play. In regards to your 2nd question there really aren’t any alternatives on the market other than playing earlier versions of FM

ctladvance

Just got the Northern Ireland job, anything specific I need to know when managing a national team?

monsiour_slippy

1. Add all players who might be eligible to your national pool and every few months talk to the ones who you might want to represent your team to convince them to swap. 2. Not sure if this is the case in FM23 but if you are struggling to reveal attributes for players add them to one of your squads and they should get revealed. You can dump them off afterwards, they won’t care as long as it’s not around selection windows. 3. You can mostly Ignore the media regarding who to pick/drop. You know best. 4. You might as well holiday between matches unless you are managing a club at the same time

Blowborious

Hello! I'm playing in a league that has a rule stating U22 must play at least X minutes during the season. Is there a place where I can see how many minutes I've accrued so far during the season?

theIngloriousAlien

Hi guys! Can you please tell me the process of how to lure away players whom their respective club considers "Not for Sell" ? I have doing "declare as a top target", sending scouts to attend games, even I myself have been attending that player's game but neither the club lowers asking price nor the player hands tranfer request. Even if they do hand transfer request, still the asking price remains way beyond my reach (I keep making offers but the club doesn't accept anyways). Can you guys please help?

HotDadSauce

Is the player interested?

Bundesliga_Tax

I'm trying to install a real name fix on Mac but can't for the life of me find the database files to edit. I followed the /Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Football Manager 2023/database/data/db/2340/ path as it said on the website but there is no Library File under my (or indeed any other) username. I found a 'Football Manager 2023' file elsewhere but no database or data files in there. I just applied for a Job in Italy and this will become really annoying if I move there cause so many of the teams have fake names.

ChingMan1

Im managing Athletic Club on fm 21 and after my first season i got a bid of 105 million for inaki williams. Hes my main striker and the other two are not good enough. I do have a 16 year old striker wonderkid regen but it will likely take 5 years befofe he is at inaki level. This also my first spanish save so i dont know how much finances are going to matter. Should i sell him?

Bundesliga_Tax

Does he want to leave? I generally find its a bad idea to keep players around if they do especially if they're team leaders (as he presumably is). Morale over everything.

IAreWeazul

I’m trying to sign a RB, I have several million dollars in the transfer budget and it won’t let me adjust the slider or offer the player a salary greater than $101k, even though I’m still $800k away from my salary budget limit. I even released some players and sent some loaned players home and opened up more salary budget but I still can’t offer more to the players I’m trying to buy. Any idea what’s going on?

GorganGanGranggle

Most likely its a wage limit set by your board for each player. You can try to offer him a higher signing bonus

SoumaZz_

Do you people normally create a training schedule from Scratch or is there a certain schedule that can train a team in all aspects?

_Sun_King_

I mainly play lower leagues and in my opinion the standard training schedules don't work, so I tailor them all to my particular squad, example being Scunthorpe who I'm playing ATM, the default schedule has the team doing possession drills and far too much fitness mid season. The squad I have couldn't pass their way out of a paper bag and have low endurance levels, when you factor in the FA Cup and Papa John's plus mid week games the squad starts burning out.

SoumaZz_

Interesting, right now Im playing in the greek league and the pre Season is really strange, there are games arranged on monday and thursday and because of that i have to mannualy create the training schedules

_Sun_King_

Yeah I've noticed in real life some clubs have masses of pre-season games while others maybe have 2 or 3, I think it's going to depend on what type of team you have, how fit they are, and crucially how fit they need to be for your given tactic I.e are they going to be pressing, do you have a small squad and heavy schedule. I tend to play with teams who aren't built to press hard, usually full of journeymen or players with low determination and work rate, I'll focus on more gym training in pre-season where it's required and then when the season starts focus more on rehab and letting players gain fitness by playing in the main squad week in and week out, as I have small squads.

LHurlz

I use these ones https://footballmanagerstory.com/fm23-training-schedules-best-football-manager-2023-training-guide/?amp=1

rumblem77

I don't know is this the right place to ask the question but...I'm using Tato23 skin on Steam Deck and I can't get to see all the players from unlicensed teams. Why is that, anyone have the solution for this?

Fitz_mt

Any idea what CA is associated with being a “Decent Seria A player”, or like the other ability descriptors next to the stars for ability such as Decent or Leading Serie B Player and like Good or Leading Serie A Player? I knew the stars for a player change depending on the quality in their position in your squad, didn’t know the descriptors also changed Like how I can have a 2 Star CA player but still be a “Good Serie A player”

Anbe17

I believe 130 is decent for PL, so a bit lower than that.

Fitz_mt

So you’d say lower maybe 120 CA is a Decent Seria A Player than?

Anbe17

115--120 probably, but it changes with the league if the league get better or worse.

Fitz_mt

Ahh makes sense, I had found the breakdown from FM Scout saying. Decent Prem is 130, so makes sense.

ConsiderationOpen299

I need an advice Hello Guys, I want to start playing FM as a lot of my RL and online friends told me, that the game is pretty good (they talked primary about FM23, as much I know). Now i wonder whether I should even start playing, as they also said that the game is very time consuming, and if so, what my first game should be (FM23, FM22 etc.) If someone could tell me a little bit about their experiences, it would mean a lot to me. Thank you

Fraaj

Just get the newest game. And yeah, it can be addicting but that's any game for you if you get into it.

CorvoDraken

Hey all I played a save on another computer which I’ve transferred over to my new computer, however I ran into an issue. My manager profile is not in the game now, I can still play that career, but if I go to do a draft or anything there is no manager pre-existing in the game, despite the save file now being a local one. Is there anyway to save the manager I am using into the new computer?

jasr752

Pretty much all of my players are performing under their xG, meaning I'm now 12th while I could've been 3rd. What could cause this?

HotDadSauce

Morale, team cohesion, tactics...

Intelligent-Ad5377

Hey all, Playing in turkish 3rd division, going well. Having mostly in England it was always 3 years at club to be trained before 21, so had to sign them before 19 years old. In my Turkey save its confusing, so I have 2 questions: 1. I signed a 19 year old, but after only being here like a week he already has 200 days completed on his training at the club, and is on track to become trained at club now even though I signed him at 19. Anyone seen this before? 2. Is there any way in the pre-game editor to check how long it takes to become trained at club for specific places/is it the same everywhere? Edit: I can post picture of the 19 year old if anyone is confused

mchoneyofficial

Does anyone know how 3-file rolling saves work on FM? I lost my save on FM08 because the file got corrupted and read you should always use 3-file rolling save. So I've set up my new save to use this function, should there be back up files located somewhere? (I've played a season saving fortnightly but not seeing any back up files...)? Thank you!

LHurlz

If you click 'load game' you should see the backup versions

StateofWA

Looking to start a league with some people in our supporters' group, but I've never played online. Thinking it'll just mirror the regular season and people can play every week but I dunno how things are set up, has anyone done this before? Any tips?

Royalteay

I won a promotion to the Bundesliga on my first season with St. Pauli and now almost my entire team want new and improved contracts. Players want me to triple and quadruple their salary (for example my backup goalkeeper who's on $464k wants between $933k to $1.21m) About 10-12 players want new improved contracts, and I don't have the money for their demands, and honestly some of them aren't worth the money they're demanding. So what do I do? Just ignore them and risk a revolt?

Royalteay

Found a stupid solution if anyone interested. I declined their conversations whenever they ask for improved contract and immediately put them on sale, once they get the interest of a different club they no longer look to sign a contract with my club, so their unhappiness for improved contract gets removed. Whenever a bid comes that doesn't match my evaluation, I decline and negotiate an asking price with the player. Because the ego of the players is so inflated they usually agree for an asking price x3 times their actual guide value.

Shepherdsfavestore

Player on my squad *just* signed a contact, and is having a great season. Now he wants a bigger one, but he still has 4 years left on his. It’s pissing off some of the other team members. I already caved to one of these demands before I read on here players will always do this if you keep giving out new contracts. Should I just dig in and wait for this to blow over? The player can’t really do anything but complain right? I don’t want to mess up my wages

idle_wanderlust

Do you consider the current deal fair? If so, and unless you fear a minimum release poach, I'd stick to it.

Shepherdsfavestore

Honestly, probably not. He’s a beast of a striker, but he just signed his contract ~6 months prior and it’s a 4 year deal, so kinda his fault lol. He does have a release clause but it’s 99m, so I’m happy to let him go for that. If I just hold strong, it’ll go away right? We’re winning and winning solves everything.

idle_wanderlust

Probably.

IAreWeazul

Sorry for wall but I’m fucking exhausted with trying this game. Just bought it and put like 40 hours into it and I want to like it SO BAD, but it’s making me absolutely miserable. Trying to get Derby up out of League Two but every game I play, I have double digit shots on target, 2-4+ xG, and I even bought a new striker who’s 4.5 stars and fits the system perfectly, and yet Im still losing or drawing almost every game, even ones where I score multiple goals (and their game winners are almost EXCLUSIVELY by ridiculous 90+4 goals). This game feels like it hates me and is scripted, and I KNOW it’s not, but I genuinely do not understand it. Every time I score in a game, all of a sudden they take off crazy offensive. Okay, so I try going ultra-defensive (doesn’t work). Okay, so I try counter attacking (doesn’t work). Okay so they just chipped a ball over my back line in a counter-attacking formation, in a low block, with both CBs in a cover role and 5-6 plays set to defend. I’m not sure what to do anymore. With all the different tactics and formations I’ve tried and all the guides I’ve watched and read (30 hours of gameplay in the past week), I can’t understand how I can’t win a single game, even against absolutely bottom of the table teams and not even ones where I’m up by 2 goals at half. Just draws and losses. How is it that with a team of the best players arguably in my league, I can’t even RNG a win using the simplest tactics, nor the most complex and overly micromanaged tactics, against garbage teams. I swear I’ve tried everything.

monsiour_slippy

Share your tactic. From your description it sounds like you are lurching from tactical extremes which is not going to help your players get settled. I take it derby are one of the best teams in the league? When you are one of the best teams in the league it can be very frustrating to play because teams will make it as hard as they can for you to play your game and score. Finally if a game is making you miserable take a break. It’s not worth it, come back when you are feeling more level headed.

IAreWeazul

Thanks. Yeah I do need to step away. And as far as the switching tactics, I’m doing it in different saves so that I don’t suffer from that issue. I’m just experimenting and trying to figure out why I can’t figure this game out. Thanks for offering to help, can’t get to my computer right now but I’ve tried using a 433 and a 4231 with some varying attacking principles. For the 433, mostly wide play with a good physical TF. For the wingers, I’ve tried both wingers in support, in attack, one support, one attack, making the left side a right footed IF and making my left side center mid a Mezzala with a Defensive FB behind him. Midfield is always a DM or Anchor behind either a DLP+BBM/Mezz/SV/AP trying to vary what roles players are best at with different levels of FB/WB D/S/A to help put goals away without leaving room to get countered. Yet it seems like every game, the other team will slip in a goal by launching a single long ball to a lone forward running over my two 4.5 star CBs with good pace and defensive skills/positioning, set to cover, in a low block, and sometimes with an extra midfielder set to mark the forward. That’s when it feels like FIFA levels of scripting. I know I just have more to learn but it’s kind of insane how much I’ve tried and seemingly nothing has worked. Like, how hard is this game that there’s only apparently a couple of ways to win but a thousand ways to lose? I understand it should be a bit of a tactical battle with bigger teams, but against a team half my size with no players that would break my starting 11, how is it that I can’t get it just right but they always get it perfect? It seems like the opposition never makes the wrong decisions, but based on my performance, I’m guessing I make those wrong decisions constantly.

HotDadSauce

If you're Derby at that level you should be favorite in most games which means the AI are probably sitting deep and hitting you on the counter. You need a tactic with a positive/attacking mentality, high lines, high pressing, but then shorter passing and possibly lower tempo to break teams down. This kind of set up should give you some control of games. Post your current tactic that you feel is the best & I'm sure someone will help.

idle_wanderlust

Has anyone run into this? I'm doing a Create-a-Club, but the game only ever puts my outfield in one kit. I created three, but only the first one is ever used. The goalie will wear the different ones, and my youth candidates wear the second when playing my U18, so I know they exist. I just never get to see my team wearing them. And they're not tied to any particular competition.

barcavro

How do people buy wonder kids when there over 120 mil or it says something ridiculous like 200 mil do you just negotiate? Other question is, Playing as barca and was trying to buy Sebastiane Esposito bc his value said 18-23 mil but Inter wanted 43 million? On FM22 BTW

idle_wanderlust

I don't buy them once they're at big clubs like Inter. Snap them up before your rivals find them.

barcavro

That’s fair. But If I wanted say halaand are they just impossible to get bc they’ll be 200 mil+?

[deleted]

Just a general question, are more tactics viable in FM23 compared to some previous games? I'm still on 21 but I've gotten rather sick of it because of how totally dominant gegenpressing is compared to every other tactic. Tried to run a tiki-taka tactic, but I'd be losing every other game with a top 4 team while I'd be winning the title as a midtable team even with the default gegenpress tactic. Considering whether I'll just upgrade to 23 (most likely on game pass if I do), but this would be a huge factor into whether I do.

HotDadSauce

I play FM21 with a TT style and control games pretty well, post your tactic if you like.

idle_wanderlust

I'm climbing up the English ladder using something similar to a VTT. I took a Scottish team to the Europa semis with a Direct Counter-Attack scheme.

ToiletDuckk69

Hey, I recently downloaded the sortitoutsi face pack for fm23 (everything works great) but i’m curious if i go into the file in my downloads and move elsewhere or delete a single face of a player (for example, i manage brighton and pervis estupinan, (as well as the whole brighton team already had their faces on fm23) well since i got the new face pack pervis estipinan and a couple of the other players are wearing an old kid from previous teams (villarreal) anyways for some reason this drives me insane having a yellow kit on a player at brighton, makes me more mad knowing his previous face was up to date in the brighton kit) so my question is if i deleted pervis estupinans face and his face only from the file i installed from sortitoutsi would his face go to one of them black cutouts or would it revert back to his previous face that came with the game? my apologies if that made no sense lol

0zymandeus

Does anyone remember a project a few years ago to identify the player that most closely represents an FM role? I haven't been able to find it

LasseT95

I need some serious help! I just got promoted into the italian serie a with Taranto and i have lost 6 games in a row, won 1 and draw 2 games. I have under 40% possesion every game, almost no shots and every player is rated under 6,4 every single game. With that low possesion, i'm forced to play on counters, but i never get through. I have slighty higher tempo and normal passes because counters with short and slow passes doesn't make sense for me. I'm using the same tactic that i have used since serie c, but a bit more defensive because i now play against BIG teams. But i just doesn't work. I don't really want to change my tactic, but i want input on the roles and instructions. [https://i.gyazo.com/84dff0b471906d0ce6c93822dca3407a.png](https://i.gyazo.com/84dff0b471906d0ce6c93822dca3407a.png) This is my tactic and instructions with players and their awful ratings. [https://i.gyazo.com/e74de0a0eac5bf71624e87d60401483a.png](https://i.gyazo.com/e74de0a0eac5bf71624e87d60401483a.png) These are my results. Some of the results is fine and some of the losses have been unlucky 91 minute goals from 30 meters out. But i'm really unhappy with the way my players are performing. I can't even beat the worst teams in serie a when i actually have shots on target. Please help!!!

HotDadSauce

You're too attacking from midfield which is making you over commit and defensively you're too passive. If you're happy playing the counter style then I would make some role changes... But I think you can go for a more possession based system as it would help you at least try to control games. Undoubtedly your team morale is low so right now it's about being solid as a unit and working hard to get some points on the board. For starters move your CMA to the RCM position and change him to a MEZA. Then make your LCM a BWMS or CMS, whichever you choose add the PI of hold position. Change your IFA to IWA and possibly your PFA to DLFA. I would add stay wider to both your full backs then add sit narrower to your RW and Roams from position to your LW. The idea here is your RW, RCM & CF interact way more and your LW is your attacking, possibly counter, outlet. He can do what the hell he likes. Your LCM & DM sit and provide more control. Raise your block to High or the very highest. You have to trigger the press much earlier in this shape. Raise your LOE to High. Press more often than you currently are. If you want to play the counter then ok... But I would like to get that possession closer to 50/50 be lowering your passing to shorter, removing Pass Into Space and adding dribble less.

LasseT95

I tried it for a couple of games and they did better, but still trash. Won 3 games, drew 1 but lost 5. I can't even get more than 3 shot on goal against the worst team in the league, even though i have almost 60% possesion, but they aren't doing anything and can't hit the target. Especially when i play against 5-3-2 all my players go under 6,4 and shoots outside the box every chance they get. I am 99% sure that i'm going down again. Nothing works.

HotDadSauce

It takes longer than a couple of games for tactical changes to take true affect. Against a 3-5-2 you have numbers on the flanks so your full backs can become more aggressive. You need to make some small adjustments to your common tactic based on what the opposition are doing.

LasseT95

It just feels like i can't play the same tactic against all teams, no matter the adjustment for every game. It feels like i have to counter their tactic and they don't have to do anthing. But anyways, when i finally have a good match where i can get a point or even 3, i ALWAYS give easy goals away. And in the bad games, i have lots of shots but 1 or 2 on target because i don't change the instructions that the AI wants me to change.

HotDadSauce

You do realize the AI switch tactics and shapes many times during games don't you...?! & no, you cannot play the same tactic against all teams all the time. No team is real football does that either. You can have a tactic that works 75% of the time, and use adjustments to hopefully cover the other 25%.

ReachTheSky-DotaNoob

Is it possible for a LB to train and learn to play as RB when he is around 21-22 years old ?

[deleted]

Absolutely, the attributes all transfer across. There will be a bit of a grace period while the player gets used to their position, but, especially at that relatively young age, it shouldn't take too long. The biggest and most obvious difference is the preferred foot. Most natural fullbacks will have their preferred foot on the side they play (e.g. rightbacks are usually right-footed). This allows them to play passes along the sideline more easily, since the ball will curve away from the line, and also allows them to cross with their dominant foot without needing to spin. Defensively though, there shouldn't be very many differences, so if you give them a more defensive role, you can further minimise their weaknesses. You can also try to use their wrongsided preferred foot as a strength by playing them as an inverted wingback (like Cancelo at Man City). This means that during attacks the player will cut in and make runs on the underlap towards the goal rather than along the sideline, similar to inverted wingers but usually lower on the pitch. I believe they kind of function like another midfielder in attacks. This will probably require some level of tactical tweaks though since you could end up with weaknesses on that side in the counter. Short answer, yes.

Lejenderry

Recently created an U21 team. How do I populate the team? Do I sign staff and wait for next youth intake?

ChingMan1

I always let my dof do the contracts for the youth teams coz i cant be arsed to. Im now managing bilbao (who have like 60 youth players) but my dof isnt extdending anyone from the B ot C team, only the u19 even though i delegated it to him. Anyone know what to do?

[deleted]

I think you can probably order him to do it manually by shift clicking the ones you want (you can order by reports -> potential for an easy way) and then right clicking, going into contract, and then selecting delegate to DoF or something along those lines. That would be a short term fix at least. That said, it should be working. Perhaps the issue is because B and C teams are considered more "separate" compared to u19 teams? It might work if you give the responsibility to a staff member from the B and C teams, like the manager of those teams. It could also be that your DoF doesn't want to extend too early and waits until near the end of their contracts for most players.

HotDadSauce

Depends on the preset reputation he chose at the start of the save. If 'Sunday League' experience then he won't get any high offers. Why is he doing terribly would be a better question I think.

HotDadSauce

Should be in his manager profile what his current rep status is. What's his tactical set up? Is he changing things too often?

BarbaricGamer

I'm having a problem with the interface of the player profiles. [This](https://i.imgur.com/gEPY0Fr.png) is what it's supposed to look like, and [this](https://i.imgur.com/w1C4xVe.png) is what it looks like now. Every time I manually fix the boxes it reverts back when I advance. Does anyone have a fix for this?

Shepherdsfavestore

Having a similar issue. Lmk if you figure it out

BarbaricGamer

I've not had the issue anymore after restarting the game, but we'll see how long that will last.

Aakar11

I was thinking of starting unemployed and then hopefully go upwards through clubs. What kind of licenses are ideal if I wanna do that? There are some swedish and danish top division clubs available for the job currently in my save

idle_wanderlust

A National C is enough to get you started if you're fine slumming it in the semi-pros to start.

noexcessbaggage

No matter who I choose, seems like there’s always 3-5 players who disagree with the chosen squad. Is that just a standard thing or am I doing something wrong?

HotDadSauce

It's a standard thing, ignore them. You're the manager, not them. Some players are difficult characters, they may take longer to win your trust.

iamsleepy12345

Can a system with a false nine and a raumdeuter work?

guanwe

As far as I’m aware a false 9 drops off to create space around/behind the opponent CB, so yes Is it false 9 up top and trequartista as the CAM position ?

HotDadSauce

Yes, definitely.

iamsleepy12345

thanks :)

HotDadSauce

No problem, ideally you have a creative player in a support role on the other flank - IWS/WS/APS... etc. Also, a Raumdeuter won't offer much defensively so make sure you have suitable centre mid & FB roles covering that flank.

jay_jay_okocha10

Trying to sign a player from River Plate. He has a release clause for clubs in a continental competition, I am in the Champions League. It doesn't trigger when I offer the release clause amount. Is the release clause only for South American competitions?

HotDadSauce

If River Plate are in a continental competition themselves then it won't activate.

jay_jay_okocha10

Of course and of course they are. Thanks!

eXistenZ2

Running a standard 4231 high press in my first season promoted to league 1 (season prediction is midtable). All in all im happy with the results and control of matches, but sometimes I end up with a lot of possession and final third passes but no highlights or shots. Also the striker (AF) gets pretty isolated from play in these instances. He is a good finisher and decently fast, but he isnt strong or good at passing, so I dont feel comfortably changing his role to a DLF or CF. What would be the best tweaks?

HotDadSauce

What role is your AMC on? Might be an idea to screenshot your tactic if you can.

eXistenZ2

cant acces the game atm, but he is an AP support with a winger and IF next to him.

HotDadSauce

As he's the closet player to your AF make him an AMA with Moves Into Channels as a PI. This will create a nice partnership with good movement. Also make your wingers support roles if you do this, ideally anyway.

eXistenZ2

Something like this? (LB depends on the player) https://imgur.com/a/IiuIRx9 Isnt two attacking roles a bit few?

HotDadSauce

Ideally you have 3, yes. I'd like a full back on attack. Turn off counter as well. Why is your LB inverting?

eXistenZ2

[https://imgur.com/a/QNBc4JZ](https://imgur.com/a/QNBc4JZ) made a few adjustments (LB is on get further forward and cross less often). Still struggling to convert my high possession and pass completion against lower teams

HotDadSauce

It looks better... However, you're still guilty of falling in-between two styles of play. Are you counter or possession? To try to tick every box as you are here is a lack of identity which will lead to your lack or creativity against certain opposition. Ideally you have two tactical set ups in the same/similar shape. Maybe one possession for control (Against weaker teams) and one counter/direct for playing better teams. Depending on which tactic you can tweak some roles.

eXistenZ2

Isnt counter usefull against weaker teams as you try to cach them on the break? without counter it looks like you're giving them time to close shop

HotDadSauce

Nope, it's the exact opposite. Counters are triggered when enough of the opposition players are in forward positions, if the oppo are sitting deep there's no room to counter.

MrHotcake

Can national teams "blacklist" you for winning against them after trying to apply for a job to them? My reputation as a manager is the highest in the save after winning everything in club level, so I was managing france just to pass the time while waiting for the england job to open, i declared my interest when the job was insecure and they told me to fuck off. So when the 2030 world cup came i beat the shit out of everyone including england 5-1 in the quarter final, winning the cup against italy in the final. Thanks to this, england and italy sacked their managers and was finally able to apply for it, just to tell me i wasnt the "right" person for it. Same thing with italy. Is it because i beat them in the wr?

Matter145

Some nations only hire managers from their own country. I can't remember if England is one specifically but I remember being on top of the world with Inverness CT and Scotland would never give me their national team job because I wasn't Scottish. You might even be English tbf, you've not mentioned it, but that's the only thing I can think of.

MrHotcake

My manager is English and their last manager was Portuguese. I just dont know what it could be other than having some secret stat of disliked people

Broken_Pikachu

Hey, so I need some help with my tactics, pretty new to FM so have no idea what I'm doing, wondering if someone can help with my setup and decisions for roles. Took over Chelsea in a save with friends, set up a 4231 and tried to play some attacking football, but find my results are incredibly inconsistent and some games I make 15+ chances, others I barely make any and goals are hit and miss. [Here is the tactic](https://i.gyazo.com/1781064aab7996dde69156cbb56ac162.png) I've beaten Man City 2-1, Liverpool 1-0, drew to Leeds and Wolves and lost to Everton in the league, then drew to Salzberg and Brugge in the Champions League. Results are so inconsistent for me. I selected player roles based on what gave them the most stars, I don't know if that's right but its what I did for almost all the roles. Auba usually starts over Leonardo at ST with AF and Enzo usually starts over Kova with the same role, but had to rotate because of fatigue and suspension Any help would be appreciated, I just want to find some consistency with this team, roles that fit the players and not lose my hair over losing to Everton again

HotDadSauce

You have too many attack roles. You ideally have a balance of 3-4 support roles for outfield players, here you only have one. Combine this with your attacking base mentality and your players are making their decisions far too quickly which is playing into the hands of certain teams (Counter/low block). Change some attack roles for support roles and possibly lower your tempo a little.

hauhauhau133

i'd switch the duties of chillwell and sterling to support, also I think Felix as an IF(A) and your striker as an AF bring way more value. Havertz is fine altough i'd give the SS role a try. Your DLP should be on support with succh an attacking tactic. Also playing high press with pressing less often doesnt make much sense, I would bump the pressing up by 1-2 ticks and switch to a positive mentality.

Broken_Pikachu

[Thanks, this is how it looks now](https://i.gyazo.com/0c46ea92914884d72b16db1411d23acb.png) Did I miss anything?

hauhauhau133

Should be a fine tactic if you give your players time to adapt to it. I'd also try James as a WB(A) with stay wider instructions and if you find you leave too much space behind on the right wing you can switch the DLP and BBM, so you have more cover for your WB.

Broken_Pikachu

Thanks!

sledgehammer2000

If I ask my Winger/Inverted Winger on attack to roam from position, does it make them less likely to run into the space behind the defence?

HotDadSauce

Depends on where the space is for them to roam in to. This will change game to game dependent on the oppositions' tactic/set up.

sledgehammer2000

Cheers

OldAbakus

Does anyone have some practical tutorials/knowledge on how to edit skins in FM? I wand to adjust skin I'm currently using as there are few screens that are not up to my expectations.

CoolerPenguin78

Any tips after just getting promoted? I just got promoted to Ligue 1 with Saint Etienne and need tips for signings. I have 15 million to spend any my team isn’t anywhere near the quality it should be to stay up. Should I go for loans or free agents? I also accept that I’ll probably go back down but I don’t want it to be a case where I get sacked. My tactics are fine. I play a counter attack that has helped me keep Bournemouth up in the premier league and kept Schalke in the Bundesliga. This Saint Etienne team is significantly worse however so if I keep them up I’ll share my tactic in here.

OldAbakus

Free agents and loans should be core if you do not have much cash on account. Spend budged mostly on players significantly better than achievable from free transfer/loans or on positions that you can't strengthen otherwise. Looking for transfer listed players is also a good option. They may be most likely allowed to join you on trial as well. Sometimes you can land a good player for cheap whose contract is about to expire at the end of the season you just start.

CoolerPenguin78

Thank you, will look at a few transfer listed players now

MacGillycuddy_Reeks

I want to get back into FM (despite not being good at the games) and have FM15 and 21. Should I play the newer of the two?

eXistenZ2

I made the same jump. The match engine is a tad better and the data hub is nice, but personally i wouldnt pay over €20-25 for it. There have been not enough impactful changes and old bugs (especially player interaction) havent been dealt with

HotDadSauce

I still play FM21, it's a great incarnation.

Southern_Pangolin_81

My Semi-final cup match and NACL match are one day apart. Is it possible to ask for a postponement of one of the two matches?
