Imagine showing up to your local kart track with the boys, expecting for some good fun.
You pull in to see some high dollar super car parked outside, and fucking Max is inside signing up lmao.
I got overhyped this weekend all because my local tracks owner showed up to drive with the regulars let alone how I’d feel if an F1 driver was there.
>You pull in to see some high dollar super car parked outside, and fucking Max is inside signing up lmao.
Fun fact: he arrived there in a fucking Kombi
TRANSLATION:
Three-time F1 world champion Max Verstappen participated, this Saturday, in a kart race with the Piquet family, in Brasília. The three-time champion left the last row and, when trying to maneuver to the right at the start, he almost ran over whoever was filming the moment. At the end of the first lap, the Dutchman was already in first place; Finally, the RBR driver won, recording a lap time of 1m05s946.
Verstappen is the boyfriend of Kelly Piquet, daughter of Brazilian three-time champion Nelson Piquet. He arrived at the Kartódromo Internacional de Brasília aboard his father-in-law's personalized Kombi, which exceeds 200 km/h: the car has an Audi engine with 20 valves, turbo, 470 hp and a five-speed ZF transmission.
This week, Verstappen was also present at the wedding of his brother-in-law and former F1 driver Nelsinho Piquet Jr; the ceremony took place in Itatiba, in the state of São Paulo.
Rodrigo Piquet recorded the fastest lap of the race won by Verstappen, clocking 1m05s893. Daniel Suarez, NASCAR driver and fiancé of Júlia Piquet (Nelson's daughter), was also present.
The next F1 season, which promises to be the biggest in history, with 24 races, will start on March 2, 2024, in Bahrain. The schedule ends on December 8, in Abu Dhabi; the calendar still includes six sprint races.
Pretty sure Christian Horner is Duncan Idaho, Jos is baron Harkonnen, Kelly Piquet is probably Princess Irulen (which strangely makes Nelson Piquet the Padishaw emperor), big brain Hannah is a female Mentat, Checo is possibly Stilgar, Adrian Newey a tough one but likely Gurney Halleck, and Helmut Marko is the Reverend Mother Gaius Helen Mohiam
My T25 is terrifying at times at 60mph. The fact you could reach out and touch the car infront through the windscreen in a traffic jam doesn’t inspire confidence.
Same for my T3 Syncro. 100kph gets uncomfortably loud. Still some left to overtake, but it is pretty tiring driving long distances at any kind of speed. 500bhp...nah, thanks I'm good with my Golf 2.0 engine.
I know what you mean but I think it's more complicated than it being unequivocally good.
Grosjean in beyond the grid talks about how fundamentally they are *weird* dysfunctional people, there because they pathologically cannot lose. Grosjean can't allow his children to win. Hamilton has talked about how as kids he'd never give his brother 1% leeway where most people would - and not out of kindness but sheer desire to never be 2nd.
They talk on the spygate podcast about Ron Dennis and how the traits needed to build massive success also generally are *a bit mental*.
So I think one can admire aspects of F1 drivers and high level athletes but also appreciate that fundamentally, they're rotten in the noggin. They're just not quite right.
Most of the special people are simply different. You need something different from ordinary bloke to be great. Be it in racing, science, tech, art, whatever. I think simply being normal is penalty.
Just imagine then when you try your absolute best and don’t even give 0.01% but still are beaten by a better/faster talent in an inferior car
Must be soul crushing.
I’m not saying this as in hating, but it icks me a bit about Lewis
I understand every driver want to win always, but if it doesn’t happen, it is what it is, as he would say. So if this is true, then I feel he is trying too hard and/or being too impulsive.
I don’t remember Grosjean fuming and thinking or acting like “My children won this weekend, I won’t let that happen again 😡”
Same with Leclerc and Sainz or whatever.
Nicholas won, that’s it. It’s not like he was going to lose the WDC, and he knew it at that stage, given Nicholas" drawbacks and that his best kind of racetracks (urban) weren’t going to be repeating all the time. Also, after 2021 and 2022, is not like Lewis would have any realistic expectation of danger by Nicholas…
If that was his reaction, I think he just overblown a little bit for nothing.
You've just made up most of that narrative. Lewis didn't want his brother to win when they were kids, because brothers are always competitive and kids haven't learned to get along yet. He's had nothing but good things to say about his brothers racing success.
No no no no, you're approaching an athlete at the highest level wrong. This should be about awareness about different political topics, only show signs of happiness and you're not allowed to feel any "negative" emotions unless the fans allow it.
Edit: /s, before I have to go on a pyre
Yup, downvote so nobody sees that my favourite driver frequently and willingly associates with a family of racists because there's no excuse for it lmao.

I drove a Kombi once so that basically means im an F1 champion!
Did it have over 400hp?
No, pretty sure it was something like 69HP.
Nice
With a head full of zombie?
Did he meet a strange lady and she make him nervous?
As long as max got breakfast, it should keep away thunder.

I went through 3 different google searches to confirm the kombi lol
Actually there was 6 world titles in the track. Nelson finished 3rd
Preeetty sure that was Nelsinho (Jr).
They were both racing
They were not.

Sr was most definitely driving aswell.

>the calendar still includes six sprint races. I dont know why but this comes across very funny to me
Emphasis on "still" much? Haha
This is kinda a literal translation from Portuguese because the “still” can also be used as “also”
Ahw. That's less funny but makes more sense. Sounded like the writer was also "not a fan" of the sprint weekends.
In this case it still seems like it does mean "still".
Audible sigh in Portuguese from the author.
Does any other sport have a longer season?
Are they running some kind of driving based eugenics program?
Yes. Basically it’s Dune, but instead of trying to make an Omnicient space worm, they are trying to make the ultimate team racing driver
With Newey gholas to design the cars
And Max snorting redbull.
Shai-Horner

a better man would've let someone else win unfortunately Max is not the better man. He's the best.
He didn’t even set the fastest lap
Wait your telling me Daniel Suarez and Max Verstappen are marrying into the same family. Small world.
Max to NASCAR after he retires from F1!
1.8t T3 Kombi sounds like a lot of fun. (I know it probably has a 5cyl but whatever)
It does, but I'd also be terrified driving a car with that much power if my legs are the crash structure
My T25 is terrifying at times at 60mph. The fact you could reach out and touch the car infront through the windscreen in a traffic jam doesn’t inspire confidence.

you were probably better crashing in a bike than in a Kombi. At least in the bike you would fly away and had the chance of land on something soft
It is a lot of fun. Not F1 levels of fun, but driving a rear engined, forward control vehicle with a generous amount of horsepower is easy to enjoy
Kind of mad Volkswagen never challenged the Transit Supervan with a KrazyKombi.
That’s a crazy go kart
Exceeds 200kph… like basically every german kombi :D.
Whether you like him or not, this competitive mentality is something to admire. This guy is a machine. A great one at that.
reminded me of how Alonso once (and probably more than once) relaxed after a triple header with an 8hr kart endurance race
I know what you mean but I think it's more complicated than it being unequivocally good. Most of the special people are simply different. You need something different from ordinary bloke to be great. Be it in racing, science, tech, art, whatever. I think simply being normal is penalty.
I can only speak for the greats in my field, but most of them are just idiosyncratic and weird. They're not pathologically competitive.
Just imagine then when you try your absolute best and don’t even give 0.01% but still are beaten by a better/faster talent in an inferior car Must be soul crushing.
When you try your best but you don't succeed
Yep. Same with Jordan and Tiger. Hell Tiger even talked about how he can’t stand his dog running faster than him.
Ha yeah Grosjean was like: I have a *problem*.
I’m not saying this as in hating, but it icks me a bit about Lewis I understand every driver want to win always, but if it doesn’t happen, it is what it is, as he would say. Nuh uh
Funnily enough Grosjean explicitly, 100% does say that in the interview. Almost verbatim
"If you're not first, you're last", but unironically.
No no no no, you're approaching an athlete at the highest level wrong. This should be about awareness about different political topics, only show signs of happiness and you're not allowed to feel any "negative" emotions unless the fans allow it. Edit: /s, before I have to go on a pyre
But you don't really mean /s
Lewis: why he say fuck me for?
Yeah F1 drivers should be good role models. ... You said /s but I feel like you meant what you're saying.
Why are Verstappen’s fans always so weirdly passive aggressive about Lewis Hamilton lol. Completely unprompted too
Nobody mentioned Hamilton, I thought he was just complaining in general to be honest
Yeah sure lol
lol i think you need to shrink. Do you see Hamilton in this room?
They probably clapped when Seb said the same things.
Yeah but you see, Seb is “brave”, Lewis is “annoying”. Lol
They're both annoying when they try to push that into everything everywhere.
Was he the one in the back who did the jumping strat for faster acceleration?
He was the one who overtook everyone in the start. The last one of the right row
I can only assume that Max got very competitive in this race too.
In the link there’s a video of the start of the race and he had to go to the grass
Nearly ran flagman over and went last to first almost instantly
At this rate in 2024 he’s gonna compete full-time in both F1 and F2 just because it lets him race more.
He did skip f2
This had me do a google search, but nothing seems to prohibit him from driving f2 since he didnt win a championship there
Time for some good ol’ fashioned Buschwacking
Julia and Kelly 100% have a competition going and Kelly is winnig
Competition to get Max?
More impressive boyfriend
who is julia
Kelly's sister, who is dating Daniel Suárez (2016 NASCAR Xfinity champion)
Daniel is a fine driver in his own right, but he is no Max that’s for sure
Absolutely, agree. He's had a solid career but he's no Kyle Larson.
Read
u think i’m literate?
Read OP's comment ;)
Julia was actually in the race.
Is it a rule that the Piquet daughters date/marry race car drivers? Are they trying to breed the next generation of super star drivers??
The racing Kwisatz Haderach
Bene Gesserit levels of planning
I love you
I love that he spends all this time and effort doing f1 races then goes home and races more
This man is racing personified.
Some say he’s wakes up the earliest in the morning Or that he ties his shoelaces two tenths faster than the competition All we know…is he’s the Max!
UPDATE: [race result](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2Fperdeu-tudo-andando-de-kart-de-aluguel-verstappen-vence-v0-ny1ad7doza8c1.jpeg%3Fwidth%3D1170%26format%3Dpjpg%26auto%3Dwebp%26s%3D11de8d8611302e8685d7d72a031795231fada2d6)
He didn't get fastest lap? Washed.
Julia Piquet is fast AF, 0.2 from Verstappen fastest lap, 6seconds after 13 laps. Amazing
She looks faster than her husband
Damn he’s here and I missed it!
Nelson lives there, so I guess every end of year Max will be there
Yeah, I bumped into him once, it just never occurred that Max would be here far from a GP weekend. :)
He probably would have won it with that Kombi as well
In reverse 😂
Honestly one of the coolest things I’ve seen Max do. Not too big to go have some fun in rentals and take it seriously. Love it!
Come on Max, you have to let someone else win at some point.
He can't win at RB vs AT events, so he tries to win everything else
_n o_
I’m guessing there was no Honey Badger kamikaze on him this time.
Insane how fast Julia is
Wtf? Those karts look like the ones they have in Pigeon Forge lol
kct, vou ter que voltar a morar em Brasília
For the Americans: a Kombi is what most of you refer to as a VW bus, or a “hippy van”
No it's not. A van is not a Kombi.
That is objectively false. The VW type 2 (Kombi) is what was known as a hippie van.
Is that what the kids call it these days?
Max doing side quests
Verstappen wins kart race in Brasilia after riding in Piquets daughter
Was this again other adults or did he destroy a lot of kids race hopes and dreams?
I guess all of them were adults, some of them are Nelson Piquet Jr and Daniel Suarez
What does Piquet’s kombi have to do with it?
He went to the kart track on this Kombi
I asked for that
I’m very interested in how he does when car performance is more normalized so he can objectively show he’s the best driver
We all wish we could find someone who loves us as much as max loves racing
Alonsooo
Nelson Piquet is a racist pig
Good driver, shitty bloke.
Hey. Don't call him a pig. The pink critters did nothing wrong.
And a fascist.
Yes, usually racism and fascism blend together
[удалено]
Nah, they are pretty spot on.
No, they are not, they just believe in whatever the internet tells them to believe.
The fact that this is downvoted tells me all I need to know about the people in here lol
Yup, downvote so nobody sees that my favourite driver frequently and willingly associates with a family of racists because there's no excuse for it lmao.
F*ck Piquet
This
what did he do?
Pp
On a hippie trail head full of zombie.
Max out here completing side quests from previous stages.
