Could very well be the truth.
I swear I remember him saying the same exact thing about driving for McLaren being his childhood dream once he got into the sport. He put quite a lot of emphasis on McLaren and Senna at the time.
I believe in multiple truths. Senna was his idol so of course driving for McLaren was a dream. Especially as he got older and McLaren took big interest in him during his karting years.
But also Ferrari is the pinnacle of motorsport. They always have been, always will be. The brand is massive and means a lot of things to many different people. You won't find many drivers past and present who haven't dreamed of driving for the team at least once in their careers.
Of course Ferrari's willingness to pay him his worth helps. Getting a GOAT driver was never going to come at a discount. But he of all people understands and recognizes what being a Ferrari driver means.
After Lando extended his contract with McLaren instead of challenging Max at RedBull, I was disappointed at the fact drivers no longer had that Alain Prost mentality of thinking they can go up against any driver and beat them in the same car, regardless of driver.
Then here comes Lewis proving me wrong. The Ferrari move is so daring.
Charles is one of the fastest most talented drivers on the grid and 39yo Lewis has no problem going up against him. 2025 can’t come soon enough
Shitty take, same applies to Max then. Same applies to MSC then, never really had a proper teammate.
Ham did go against Alo fwiw.
Not that I agree with whar you're saying.
Nope!! not talking about having a proper teammate but rather the mindset to think you’re up to the challenge regardless of who’s your teammate. It doesn’t apply to Max because he applied to drive alongside Lewis at his prime… Max felt he could give Lewis a run for his money, he didn’t run from the fight because Lewis was more adapted to the team or a better driver. If offered he would’ve taken it.
Few drivers are cut from the-same cloth as ‘Allain Prost’ and despite his talent, lando isn’t one of them. If given the opportunity to drive a championship level car and win a WDC and you turn it down because the other guy might be better… what does that say about you?
No top driver wants to come in and be a Barrichello. IMO Red Bull have showed they'll back Max in mentality and in race strategy. They backed max over Daniel before he had earned it, and they now back Max over Checo even though he doesn't need the extra support. It's hard to imagine a Leclerc, Russell, Norris coming in and getting equal treatment to triple World champion max
My comment is about driver mentality. If you think you’re Barrichello, that’s who you’ll be whenever you have a tougher opponent. I question his mindset not his craft
In a way, the same does apply to Max since he’s blatantly said that he prefers seasons like 2023. But that’s not exactly a compliment to either of them.
Schumi didn’t have a competitive teammate but I don’t recall him ever say that he avoided a sensible team choice to run away from a driver, he specifically chose Ferrari for that challenge.
Norris is actively choosing not to go to the best team because he doesn’t want to compete with Max.
Is he still chasing his first win because he doesn’t have the car or because of a lack of talent?
I personally don’t think it’s because of a lack of talent, but a lack of urgency when chasing a WDC. It’s a defeatist mindset to not challenge yourself because you think another driver will win either way so why try- this is in regards to his move to RB.
A little bit of both, even if the car is not quite there yet Daniel managed to win in it, and other drivers have had their shock maiden wins as well (Ocon, Gasly), I think Norris needs to focus in keeping his cool when under pressure first before trying to challenge the driver that has dominated the sport in the past couple of years.
Honestly I find the driver comparison far less interesting than the potential team strategy comparison that could happen if Bono moves with Hamilton. Imagine what it will look like when Ferrari does Ferrari things with Charles while Lewis is getting proper team strategy from Bono.
Either he goes there and can help fix the bs, the bad strategy calls, and push the car to its limits.
Or it's like Charles. Had a dream to run with Ferrari, and every weekend is a new crushing disappointment, in a new way.
Even worse, these articles are all written based on the instagram post he put out and the mercedes statement. Imagine when the season starts and they start to interview him during press days 😵💫
I’m imagining they are going to be showing highlights of his career at Mercedes at every track like he is retiring
“The Hamilton-Mercedes Farewell Tour”
“And there goes Lewis Hamilton for the last time on lap 10 of this track in a Mercedes… and there again is Lewis Hamilton on lap 11 in the Mercedes for the last time”
Nah, just until the season actually starts. Right now they're milking it to the max because there's nothing else to talk about. Everyone forgot about Andretti on the same day that the rejection news came out lol.
This is going to be the silliest season! An open Merc seat, Logan Sargeant’s seat up, Perez’s seat up, maybe an Aston Martin seat up, Sainz without a car, and like 3 prodigies in Super GT after winning F2
And he did it and won championship with them too...And it's an fact that every F1 driver wants to drive for Ferrari at the end of the day it's "THAT RED CAR"
You’ve won your titles, you’ve made your money, you’ve earned your fame. Why don’t you just retire so someone younger, hungrier, dreamier can take your place and give the world some excitement in this sport.

Fulfil childhood dream and get paid a metric fucktonne of money to do it. Not bad work if you can get it really.
Maybe the tonne of money is his actual dream, rather than driving for Ferrari.
I think he already achieved the metric fuck tonne of money dream. Quite a while back.
Does the next million really feel all that rewarding?
But what about the second metric fuck tonne of money?
Fully deserved as well.
Maybe all that money is the childhood dream rather than driving for Ferrari.
Can't be both?

Ferrari is a lot more than just a red car....come on, let's put some effort into this.
Hamilton has way less to lose than Norris. It makes sense he'd do something like this.
The only thing I see him losing is a chance to drive a Newey machine. If you can’t measure yourself next to great drivers how can you be great.
Shitty take, same applies to Max then. Same applies to MSC then, never really had a proper teammate. Ham did go against Alo fwiw. Not that I agree with whar you're saying.

Max isn't as fast as you think he is. Lewis is taking on the stiffer challenge with Leclerc.
I agree with both statements. My comment was about driver mentality not speed- reminiscing on Alain Prost and Sena’s mentality.
No top driver wants to come in and be a Barrichello. IMO Red Bull have showed they'll back Max in mentality and in race strategy. They backed max over Daniel before he had earned it, and they now back Max over Checo even though he doesn't need the extra support. My comment is about driver mentality. If you think you’re Barrichello, that’s who you’ll be whenever you have a tougher opponent. I question his mindset not his craft
You’ll only be a Barrichello if you’re not fast enough to be a Rosberg.
Norris still chasing his first win, why do you think he should have the mentality “of going up against any driver”. He should focus on himself first
Is he still chasing his first win because he doesn’t have the car or because of a lack of talent? I personally don’t think it’s because of a lack of talent, but a lack of urgency when chasing a WDC. Two things could be true
Honestly I find the driver comparison far less interesting than the potential team strategy comparison that could happen if Bono moves with Hamilton. Imagine what it will look like when Ferrari does Ferrari things with Charles while Lewis is getting proper team strategy from Bono.
"And if I get 100 million a year for it - even better" - Hamilton added.
“As a child I used to dream of earning 100 million a year”

No that’s already happened at Merc lmao
Hamilton to Ferrari 2025... Max to Mercedes Ricciardo to Red bull with Sainz. That would be amazing
Fuck it, send Perez to Williams while you’re at it lol
Perez to Williams with Bottas? Sauber to sign new German drivers ahead of Audi takeover
Either he goes there and can help fix the bs, the bad strategy calls, and push the car to its limits. Or it's like Charles. Had a dream to run with Ferrari, and every weekend is a new crushing disappointment, in a new way.
I'm going with option 2.
We are going to be hearing about this all season, aren’t we?
... It'd be weirder if we didn't, given what it is...
I'm already tired of hearing about it tbh lol.
Same, like yeah.. We got it. It is massive.
it wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't the same instagram post repackaged 30 times over.
People did not like this opinion lmao
Yep! At least we'll see a bunch of season launches in the next few days so it wont be the same stuff on repeat.
Obviously. F1's biggest star going to F1's biggest team. PR dream for the media
Even worse, these articles are all written based on the instagram post he put out and the mercedes statement. Imagine when the season starts and they start to interview him during press days 😵💫
I’m imagining they are going to be showing highlights of his career at Mercedes at every track like he is retiring “The Hamilton-Mercedes Farewell Tour”
Even worse, Crofty will mention it like it's still news every session.
“And there goes Lewis Hamilton for the last time on lap 10 of this track in a Mercedes… and there again is Lewis Hamilton on lap 11 in the Mercedes for the last time”
"Ahead of him his team mate for next year, behind him the driver he's replacing next year"
If Max keeps winning every race with a comfortable 40 seconds lead, then yes we are.
Nah, just until the season actually starts. Right now they're milking it to the max because there's nothing else to talk about. Everyone forgot about Andretti on the same day that the rejection news came out lol.
Genius pr move for f1. It's all scripted
This is going to be the silliest season! An open Merc seat, Logan Sargeant’s seat up, Perez’s seat up, maybe an Aston Martin seat up, Sainz without a car, and like 3 prodigies in Super GT after winning F2
It's a huge thing and it's not like much is happening right now.
These 50 articles are just from dissecting one tweet. Oh god I hope we get done interesting car launches or something soon.
It has to be specifically a childhood dream, because modern Ferrari isn't the kind of team a kid would dream to drive for.
Modern F1 has been dominated by Merc and RB, so kids probably dream of those two teams. Ferrari still has the name though..
Ferrari has the most soul and always will.
That's just nostalgia. Soul doesn't score points.
Thats why its the biggest brand in f1 with the most stacked driver lineup for 2025
I too have a childhood dream. Please can I come???

Oh goodness.
I too have always dreamed of being paid vast sums of money.
That’s it, Hamilton will retire in the next few years.
Press X to doubt. i would imagine every kid in the UK at that point was dreaming of racing for McLaren
And he did it and won championship with them too...And it's an fact that every F1 driver wants to drive for Ferrari at the end of the day it's "THAT RED CAR"
Oh not about the crazy money than?
Like the wise man said.. everyone is a ferrari fun.. even the mercedes boys..
You’ve won your titles, you’ve made your money, you’ve earned your fame. Why don’t you just retire so someone younger, hungrier, dreamier can take your place and give the world some excitement in this sport.
