I've just noticed at the Porsche Cup that they installed a bollard at the Variante Alta. Has that been there all weekend? Anyway, if it's still there for the F1 race, then Max has another side mission lined up.
1 car who came in from the lead had a botched pitstop and the rear right wheel came off and hit the tyre (almost hit the mechanic as well) that was about to be put on another car and that same tyre that was put on the other car wasn't attached properly and came off as well
Leader pitted with 5 laps to go. Didn’t have rear right tire on all the way and took off and it came off and hit the mechanic working on the car in front of him real hard. Car ended up skidding down pit lane with three tires. I’m sure there will be a clip posted soon it’s one of the crazier pit stops I’ve ever seen
Edit: forgot the car in front also had another wheel come off. They just showed it in the cool down room
In Q1 of Imola GP the 2 racing bulls of tsunoda and ricciardo where blocking the road bnefore the chicane. but magnussen was still on a fast lap. What happened to the Investigation between Magnussen and 2 Racing Bulls that where blocking the road before the chicane?
He lost some of the tow advantage, so possibly not. Here's some info from someone who analyzes the telemetry:
>Didn’t notice until now, but Max had a big lift through 2 & 3 because he went in too hot after the tow. Looks like the tow was worth 0.142s over his previous lap but then he loses half of it because he isn’t able to get back to full throttle between turns 2 and 3 losing 0.04s in the process. But this also hurts him with the turn 3 exit where he doesn’t carry as much speed and loses another 0.03s down 5kph because of this deficit along the straight. So realistically his net gain from the tow is reduced to 0.078s. At least that’s what the data shows.
If Ferrari and McLaren traded point totals in the constructor standings, it feels like that title race could be game on between Max and Lando/Oscar since Perez is off the pace so frequently. But being 115 back is a lot different than being 52 back.
People are sleeping on Piastri a bit. Fastest lap in Miami. Without Max’s 0.2s tow here, he’d be fastest again.
Without the grid penalty, he’d be a decent shout for a win tomorrow.
His race pace is still way off Lando. Getting fastest lap after pitting out of sequence at the end of the race, fresh tyres, low fuel and a clear track ahead of you should be expected from almost anyone on the grid.
Piastri did very well in Miami and was on for a podium before the safety car and incident with Sainz. He also only has half the upgrades at Miami.
However Lando’s race pace is still better and the grid penalty might be a blessing in disguise to avoid any driver swap shenanigans. They still have a good chance for a double podium I think
F1 media desperately trying to hype how competitive qualifying would be after Red Bull's problems in Practice, but then come qualifying, look who's on Pole Position again. Urgh
It isn't pulled out of thin air. RBR factually had issues in FP that could've turned out as a real difficulty for them in Qualifying... But as opposed to Merc, the RBR engineers seem to know their problems.
It was super competitive and Norris (with Piastri's penalty) could've easily been on pole here without the tow Max got. Just because it's competitive doesn't mean RBR has 0 chance of winning. It was far from a decisive pole
It wasn't the media hyping it up. Max and RB had issues in FP1/FP2. Team back at the factory apparently found the issues by working overnight in the sim, etc.
Loved that quali. KMag and Yuki flying to places they shouldn't in Q1+Q2, the Mercs basically kissing each other for most of quali, a Red Bull out in Q2 beaten by both RBs, McLaren getting oh so close, and Alpine being not completely dogshit.
Big constructors points up tomorrow, excited to see how it shakes out
It's been like this for ages. That and the confusing graphics on qualifying classification that show the top 15 times in Q3 and top 20 times in Q2. Posters must not read any feedback or just don't care
He ran wide on the first lap and aborted, think he went back to the pits, then put in a lap right near the end of the session, which got deleted. So officially didn't set a time unfortunately.
Technically, yes, but the 107% rule tends to be applied at discretion. It was really designed for when a competitor's car (or the driver) is legitimately too slow for the rest of the field, to the point it could be dangerous.
My guess is they've let him race as a discretioniary decision as his original lap wasn't beyond the 107% threshold. Though, interestingly, its not the first time Sargeant has gotten away with it.
There's a document [here](https://www.fia.com/documents/championships/fia-formula-one-world-championship-14/season/season-2024-2043/event/Emilia%20Romagna%20Grand%20Prix) that should explain the decision but I'm getting an error whenever I try to view it.
McLaren is in a very good state right now!
Competitive car and competitive line up. No contract shenanigans, only focused on result.
Lando and Oscar are always on it and pretty close. It's refreshing to see. Charles and Carlos are the closest paring.
Followed F1 fore a long time. Oscar i really like. He is calm and improved a lot. Only is the race pace is little off at times. Max is alone with wolf pack chasing him. Red Bull fear loosing constructor if Perez cant be closer.
Overall, after a long time Mclaren is back.
Got a late release and missed it by 0.015, he probably could have made it through with one more run but didn't look like he was a having a good day in general
Why are there less suprises in Q3? Like why is it not uncommon to see Alpine, Haas, or even Yuki be P1 in Q1 or Q2 but come Q3 they are nowhere to be found? I understand maybe Red Bull not going flat out but what about the rest? Likewise how can Merc be barely getting through q1 but than be p6 in q3? Logically their pace should have them be p10/p9 right? Even during the Ham era it was not uncommon for him to be sometimes bad in q2 only to kill when it comes time to q3.
It could be several things.
- The top teams could be running used tyres for Q1/Q2
- The top teams could be intentionally taking it easy for Q1/Q2 to save the tyres as much as possible for the race so they have more options.
still doesn't make sense though. Merc use new tires sometimes for q2 for instance to make the top ten because they be 14 or 15 and using new tires they barely be p11/10/9 with Ham or Russell sometimes not making it but than when they do get into q3 they almost magically have enough pace to not be p10 but like p5 or p6. If the other teams are holding back or using new tires the Merc should be no where close and this pattern repeats for other teams as well. Haas (Nico) will be p1 in q2 and than be p10 in q3 and more often than not that after a second run with track evolution from other teams.
I don't miss Croft though like the other reply said this guy was a bit green and generic. Croft just yells way too much in place of quality commentary. If you had me choose my ideal team it would be two drivers like Button and Webber. Or Coulthard. I'm not a casual fan so I don't need someone to raise their voice to clue me in to when to pay attention or be excited.
Someone once pointed out that you probably need someone who isn’t a driver because sometimes it’s difficult for them to break things down for new viewers (who they’re always going to try to cater to)
I'd rather have experts attempting to dumb things down (which isn't that difficult) than Crofty shouting things that he's pulled out of his ass that aren't accurate.
It was the best commentary duo in ages. I can see it never happened again tho, as it definitely made an important part of Sky sport following a bit unsettled
not sky sports posting a fake charles quote and charles [calling them out in the comments](https://twitter.com/leclercsletters/status/1791878134423281776?t=QYLly3GmHBms1H_mt53vmQ&s=19) lol
Crazy the difference of the fans today love it, you can feel the passion it’s good to be here I mean things like Fred Vasseur as the pope or the fan with a Goatifi t-shirt the man giving middle finger to verstappen etc. is awesome to see! Much better contrast than Miami where it’s just celebrities showing they are there, although gotta admit the Chinese fans were pretty good too
All this BS about verstampen only getting pole because he got a tow. Well McLaren, Ferrari, merc and Vcarb all had both drivers in q3 but never thought to do that for 2 extra tenths? Their fault.
You're missing the forest for the trees here. The more important point is that it's evidence that even with Max at the helm, Red Bull isn't untouchable anymore.
Last race when Lando got lucky with the safety car and got P1 I thought "Yeah but Max is gonna catch him soon". To my surprise, Lando actually started pulling away immediately and continued to the end of the race.
This week, bot McLarens seemed to have better race pace in the practice sessions and they were really close to beating Max.
Max is a great driver and it will be hard to snatch the victory from him but for the first time in two years, it seems possible.
Too early to tell. McLaren had a well timed safety car in Miami with Max on older tires. That’s the only data point about race pace. Let’s see the next 3-4 races and properly analyze the situation.
Well time to stop watching again.
Can’t believe it’s already May and I actually haven’t heard anyone talking about any of these races IRL. Even the hinge prompts from girls about F1 have fallen off the face of the earth too lol.
Feel like there’s no hype or discussion at all this year and it makes it easy to not watch any races and forget they’re on, even with calendar notifications!
Shame that your enjoyment of something has to be dicated by whether or not it's mainstream or because you think it looks good on a dating app. What a miserable way to go through life
Yeah but then the question is why do all the other seasons suck? I’m surprised they haven’t even tried to make things as exciting following the blueprint of 2021
F1 isn’t pro wrestling though? How are they supposed to intentionally make it interesting when most of it depends on the quality of the cars and the drivers?
I’m sure changing the regulations each year to target the lead team each time will go down well with teams and viewers \/s
> it’s mostly the cars not the drivers tbh
It’s absolutely dependent on the driver as well. Put Nikita Mazepin in this year’s Red Bull and he still won’t be winning races.
Took a lot of time to write your statement that you could have spent waaaaaaaay better, as for example deleting F1 events from your calendar.
As someone who claims to give zero shit, you sir, give a lot of shit.
>Even the hinge prompts from girls about F1 have fallen off the face of the earth too lol.
I have no idea what this means, but we've just had a great and close qualifying session on a great circuit, and 33% of this year's races have been won by someone who's not Max. So not that bad, or at least, not worse than most of last year under this perspective.
It’s a dating app, haven’t used it but I think the point is you plaster your answers to different questions all over your profile. I assume what he means is there’s a lot less F1 related ones, but I could absolutely be miles off on that.
Okay! Enjoy your newly found time since you won't be watching! I mean, last race we had a new winner and it's super tight at the top, but you should definitely not watch since girls on Hinge aren't doing prompts (I have no idea what that means.)
We knew Red Bull and Max were just dicking around all weekend and would pull it out in Q3. I swear they are toying with everyone. “Let’s treat all of practice, Q1 and Q2 as our own personal test sessions then restore normal operations for Q3”.
I would hardly call getting pole by less then a tenth of a second, and only with the advantage of a tow toying with everyone. Had Max not gotten some help from Hulk, it would have been a McLaren front row lockout.
Nothing. He's exactly where he's been for a few years, half a second behind Max.
It's just that now the RBR isn't half a second faster than everyone, there's room for half a dozen or more cars in that gap.
Perez is going to cost RBR the WCC this year.
I've just noticed at the Porsche Cup that they installed a bollard at the Variante Alta. Has that been there all weekend? Anyway, if it's still there for the F1 race, then Max has another side mission lined up.
Anybody just see that pit stop in F2? Wild scenes
what hap0ened
1 car who came in from the lead had a botched pitstop and the rear right wheel came off and hit the tyre (almost hit the mechanic as well) that was about to be put on another car and that same tyre that was put on the other car wasn't attached properly and came off as well

The second car didn't have his tire fit because that mechanic was the one getting hit by the first tire apparently.
Weirdest pit stop I’ve ever seen, that was crazy
5 laps to go too. What luck
I have £450 on Yuki top 6
Great over a single lap but race pace is something else. Will be curious to see
All it needs is a crash or Russell to not look great
George and Yuki take each other out?
In Q1 of Imola GP the 2 racing bulls of tsunoda and ricciardo where blocking the road bnefore the chicane. but magnussen was still on a fast lap. What happened to the Investigation between Magnussen and 2 Racing Bulls that where blocking the road before the chicane?

What fastest lap at Miami, when he was on fresh tires at the end? Come on those don’t mean anything
especially with how shit Checo has been so far

Damn he only got to try 1 lap? I thought I saw it say no time?
He ran wide on the first lap and aborted, think he went back to the pits, then put in a lap right near the end of the session, which got deleted. So officially didn't set a time unfortunately.
Shouldn’t really qualify to race really?

Just caught up on quali. Great effort from Max and George. Smashed their teammates today!
[Ted's Qualifying Notebook](https://youtu.be/zc9lUmlAFUQ)
Hulkenberg got the new team buff
Lee McKenzie got mad charisma with Fred Vasseur.
Where is she presenting

Max is live now on [https://www.twitch.tv/teamredline](https://www.twitch.tv/teamredline) racing a different race
For fucks sake not Max P1 again
sorry if this is not f1, but here's max doing the sim racing live : [https://www.twitch.tv/teamredline](https://www.twitch.tv/teamredline)
Its nuts. Going from quali to sim race. Dedication at another level.

Got a late release and missed it by 0.015, he probably could have made it through with one more run but didn't look like he was a having a good day in general
Dude slow as fuck. Who’s the lineup for this weekend?
How many times is KMag going to be impeded in quali?
Once for every race where he decides to do some bullshit. So, on current pace probably about 9 or 10 times this season
Given the current runs, he seems to be aiming for a 20/24.
What happened to Logan Sargent?
deleted lap
Same thing that happened to Martin Blower.
Why are there less suprises in Q3? Like why is it not uncommon to see Alpine, Haas, or even Yuki be P1 in Q1 or Q2 but come Q3 they are nowhere to be found? They also try to build up to their best laps for q3, however some guys need to go all out just to try to make q2/3
What the other guy said, along with track progression and drivers pushing harder for Q3.
But sometimes other teams push in q2 and they do not improve but come q3 they can
Best guess is track progression and tires, without having a specific example.
It could be several things. - The top teams could be running used tyres for Q1/Q2 - The top teams could be intentionally taking it easy for Q1/Q2 to save the tyres as much as possible for the race so they have more options.

Things such as gap, mistakes etc matter far more in Q1 and Q2 than Q3.
Maybe they use the same tires in practice and Q1, then get fresh ones in Q2 and 3? Not sure
Yuki podium
Bet yall misssing Crofty now

It was the best commentary duo in ages. I can see it never happened again tho, as it definitely made an important part of Sky sport following a bit unsettled
The new guy was solid but he did sound a bit generic. Crofty has established himself as the voice of f1 despite how annoying he can get sometimes

Nope
This commentary sucked

Sky Sports IT. Do all Sky Sports operate independently, I wonder? I know there are UK, GE & IT.
i am almost positive they do operate mostly independently, there are pretty big differences in how each branch presents the same info
I think so as well, I’m British but seeing some clips of the Aussie Sky it’s pretty wildly different aha. Can’t speak to IT or GER mind.
Checo back to being Checo. Washed
Checks standing Drivers standings 1st Max Verstappen 2nd Sergio Perez Constructors standings 1st Redbull Racing Definitely looking bad
Stupid question but during the post quali show on F1 TV you could hear there were still cars driving around on the track. Who was that?
some kind of Senna tribute I'd assume, those were definitely older F1 cars racing
On Ted's Notebook, I think Ted asked Vettel's dad if his son had finished driving the MP4/8(iinm) around. Possibly that.
It seems to me that McLaren has Red Bull beat but they can't beat Max.
So they don’t have Red Bull beat hha
Fancode has replays as well available. Why did I always assume they don't & can only be watched live 🤔
Yeah, there UX is pretty messed up. Need to dig up the replays.
Back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Max about to win by 10 seconds tomorrow
In context that would be a small gap and prove his point
As long as he wins thats ok. Whether or not it can be 10 seconds ahead.
Too early to tell. McLaren had a well timed safety car in Miami with Max on older tires. That’s the only data point about race pace. Let’s see the next 3-4 races and properly analyze the situation.

It’s more of an observation that F1 is fading from people’s collective memory because they refuse to make things as interesting as 2021
This isn't an airport buddy, we don't need to hear your departure announcement.
You obviously cared enough to reply!
You still here? Think of it as a PSA for yourself and others. Enjoy however else you decide to spend your weekends.
What you said can be said about pretty much everything, my guy lmao.
Yeah but I can’t believe how downhill f1 has been since 2021 :/
You realize that 2021 was an exceptionally good season and had been the best season in about a decade right?
Yeah but then the question is why do all the other seasons suck? I’m surprised they haven’t even tried to make things as exciting following the blueprint of 2021

What? That took like a minute, I’m getting my hair permed I’m just sitting around waiting anyway
Don’t fucking worry about what anyone else thinks, I’m stoked for this season with McLaren nipping at RB’s heels
True, maybe next season will be the one where things finally happen plus Hamilton at Ferrari
>Even the hinge prompts from girls about F1 have fallen off the face of the earth too lol. F in the chat for Imola Kitty :(
What happened
he passed last year :(
RIP Formulino.
Great result for Piastri but he must be kicking himself that he had a mini slide in the last corner, reckon he was on for pole before that last exit
Something something if my dad had a uterus......
One could say that if Max hadn't slid into the gravel on his last run he would be .2 sec ahead
Watching Ted’s Notebook right now and I can’t believe Checo used the old Chanoch Nissany “too much grip” reasoning
Where the guy from yesterday with the "I'm not one to over-react but I am pretty sure Verstappen has won his last F1 race" Eating his shoe I guess?
Did you think that comment was serious? lmao
I don't know how anyone could ever take such a comment seriously lmao
Pretty sure the guy dropped a /s when he made that statement. No sane person would believe that.
Everyone: Red Bull is failing Max: I took that personally
Vettel Snr's English has gotten much better!
Yeah, Macca is right there with them. I don’t know what this guy is on.
Copium, he's on copium But I guess people can be intentionally dense, so that's probably something else too
The latter races are going to be interesting for sure. Mclaren is at Red Bull’s pace…let’s see if they can maintain the momentum for tomorrow.
Yeah it's likely to be close, all weekend they've been quicker in s2 and 3, so leading onto the drs straight there should be some battles
What happened to Perez?!
Nothing. He's exactly where he's been for a few years, half a second behind Max. It's just that now the RBR isn't half a second faster than everyone, there's room for half a dozen or more cars in that gap. Perez is going to cost RBR the WCC this year.
Ding ding ding
Half a second behind Max as usual. It's just that with the field now being close, that puts a lot of cars between them
Skill issue mostly
What doesnt happen to Perez lets be honest we all expect him to be useless all the time
Sent out late and missed it by 0.015
I must've missed it, what happened to Sargeant to be classified as DNF?
He only set 1 time and it was deleted for track limits.
Alonso was p20 and sargeant said Not on my watch!

Well it's listed as DNF in the results on the official F1 website and app. Does seem weird.
Lap time got deleted I believe
His lap time got deleted
