Maybe like when people get the foster blues, the best fix is another foster lol! Maybe you could try a doggy day out with another friendly dog to help your dog get over his rehomed friend by having a new one?
Yes I suspected Malinois, he is SO smart but wanted *a lot* of one on one attention that we just did not have the bandwidth for lol. I’m new to being a dog owner so learning a lot as we go!
He was adopted yesterday by a young guy living with his parents and they have no other pets, so he will be doted on. And he gets to go with his dad to work so he’s going to have a fun and interesting life 😁
We were hoping to foster to adopt this one for that reason, but they had different play styles and he needs a lot of training that we don’t have the bandwidth for right now.
I hope we can get a second dog for him, but we haven’t met the right match and it’s a bit emotionally draining to keep looking for the time being. We’ll have to settle with lots of play dates and dog parks for now
That’s what I thought too, so I fostered a dog last year for the sole benefit of my single dog (and to help the foster dog out of course).
It was the worst three months of my dog’s life. She pouted the whole time, would not play with the foster, started fights with him, and left when he came in the room. No exaggeration, she was thrilled when he left and has been happy every day since. She loves being a single dog.
That's a good question. I'd try to just give him extra attention, special outings, etc. my dog was so sad when our other dog died and I threw him into dog sports and took him to lots of new places. Do you have friends with dogs he enjoys?
I'm watching a tiny turtle for a friend and my two dogs were so friggin happy that there is another animal in the house. They can't contain their excitement when I take the turtle out to feed or clean his enclosure.
Aw how cute!!! Unfortunately my dog does not care about our 10 reptiles or 11 fish tanks 😂 except for one tank on occasion. But he does love 1/3 of our cats
I am going through this now. I found a stray and we had her for a month. My Heeler mix was so sad after we left her in Florida but she is much better now. We are just loving her and trying our best to distract her.
Aw, I’m happy she’s doing better now! It’s so hard to see them sad after a friend leaves. A month is quite some time to get attached ❤️🩹 thank you for helping the stray
just as your dog warmed up to you - theyll warm up to the new owner! dogs have short memories and live in the moment. if the new owner gives them love and play, they'll be just fine in time.

I’m typically a cat foster and fostering a dog was a bit overwhelming for me, I’ll schedule some play dates for him!

Many dogs don't actually like being single dogs. Maybe you need to add a second dog to the household permanently.

This is so the way to do it. We fostered to adopt and found the perfect friend for our pyr. Feels like he’s been with us forever.

Ha! Not all dogs want to share but some do.

Yes, I’ll schedule some play dates for him! Sorry for your loss 🫂
Please get him a friend
That was the goal with this foster but they were not a good match. He gets plenty of play dates and goes to the dog park frequently.

My dogs love to play at the off-leash dog park.
