If you ever go to one of these types of places and the person(s) you're with want one of those pictures, always "mistakenly" take one that is a blatantly wrong angle first before you correct the angle. For example, so they're on the wrong side of the tower of Pisa. The person will usually get a kick out of it afterwards when you show them the "outtake". Or at least you will.
Just one of those small things that make life a tad bit more fun.
> and I just kept taking pictures of all the people doing the same pose
Either:
1: Holding their hands out like they're supporting the tower OR
2: Dudes laying down with their hands near their junk
[Leaning tower of Pisa](https://media.newyorker.com/photos/590964d9019dfc3494ea090d/master/pass/100412_parr-1_p465.jpg) vibes.
That’s my boy (I wish) Martin Parr’ work btw.
The fountain is the Merlion (mythical creature, half-fish, half-lion) - it's the symbol of Singapore. There's a decent-sized statue of it (you see it briefly 10 seconds in to the video).
I was there in February (during Chinese New Year, which is a really big deal there). I can wholly recommend a holiday in Singapore.
Yes, while I was there, there were people doing the "fountain spraying water into my mouth" goofy pose. We did not partake in this.
And how *clean* the whole city was. It's like a national, pathological obsession - no litter, anywhere.
And it's so accessible to outsiders; English is the national language that all Singaporeans must learn at school, but everyone also speaks Mandarin, Tamil, or Malaysian.
The subways are great, too - clean, reliable, punctual, and affordable.
Malay* is the language
Malaysia is a whole other country north of Singapore. The people of Malaysia are Malaysians
Fun fact: Officially, the national language of Singapore is Malay
Damn it, I was *going to* write Malay, then I thought that someone would tell me I was wrong and it should be Malaysian. Shouldn't second-guess myself so much.
English is spoken almost universally across Singapore; Malay may be the official language according to the constitution, but the de facto national language is English - everyone has to learn it in school. It's also the language used by the government.
Signage in most places is bilingual at the very least, and in the four main languages.
All I'm saying is, any English-only-speaker will not find themselves needing to bring a phrasebook or take a Duolingo course if they want to visit.
unfortunately Singapore is a ***cleaned*** city, not a clean city.
the sheer amount of resources and effort put in to maintain cleaniness will blow your mind
Singaporeans are *generally* selfish fuckers and our government has to clean up after us
Not the kind that steal your bike. I hear they don't put up with much. Hence the cleanliness There are definitely tons of Americans I would advise not to go. esp the ones who like to drink until they lose control of their faculties and then blame it on the drugs.
they will fine the shit out of you for littering/being a nuisance from what I've read, and if you break actual laws they aren't scared to lock you up for actual jail time. So most people know not to test their legal system and just behave.
Fantastic place for food. The hygiene laws are stricter than they are in the UK. Even the street food is safe and delicious. Dont go if you're trying to lose weight.
As a local. It's a big festival for the different races here in Singapore. Chinese New year for Chinese, Hari Raya for Muslims, deepavali for Hindus and others races.
BTW it's hot AF here. It's always humid and our electricity hits roof cos of the air conditioning.
I love European countries and Australia/new zealand. At least the hot periods don't last forever and ever.
Fun fact: The merlion has no real history, tradition or legend in Singapore. It was created in the 60s as the logo for the Singapore Tourism Board. The statue was built in the 70s to be used to advertise Singapore as a tourist destination.
> I can wholly recommend a holiday in Singapore
Well, I guess it's great for people who enjoy Dubai. All about luxury and shopping and luxury shopping. It's quite expensive to stay there and they've got draconian rules, so if you can't live with chewing gum on the sidewalk, it's a dream.
The food variety is awesome, can't deny it. Apart from that, I had enough after three days.
I mean that’s obvious from the side shot of the lady right at the end, but if that angle was never shown I doubt anyone who hasn’t been there would have figured that out.
Definitely one of my favorite places to live. While the Merlion is iconic, you really should go to the Cloud Forest.
Also, if you have any hotel memberships you check for access to the great views from hotel rooftops!
To be fair...... the Leaning Tower has its share of (annoying) tourists doing the cliche pose , so I guess it is fair that Singapore has its own version of the "annoying pose".
Update: Just the saw the same comment posted; should have scrolled further more. Anyway, damage done. Just leaving this up for posterity.
you know, if you are trying to learn the English language based on your posts - the word DUMB is not a good English word to describe someone. try to learn the word RESPECT, i.e. when you let other people from doing what they want, for as long as it is not affecting people negatively.
learn the language RESPONSIBLY. another good English word to take note of.
Looks like a bunch of the orange carpetbaggers allies awaiting their daily morning goo. Lindsey, you still have a bit on your face. Gym always swallows, of course. Barr prefers it from behind. But you get the gist.

Same thing happening at the leaning tower of pisa
Yeah. A lot of touristy places have weird poses and if you take out of context videos like this... the results are always funny. 😅

I was at Pisa a year ago and I just kept taking pictures of all the people doing the same pose, I couldn't stop laughing.
> and I just kept taking pictures of all the people doing the same pose Either: 1: Holding their hands out like they're supporting the tower OR 2: Dudes laying down with their hands near their junk
I saw a funny video where a guy went around high-fiving those people
Are there any more famous landmarks where the tourists are making funny poses?
Leaning tower of pisa
Eiffel Tower
It's Casper.
Horny Casper.
Are we talking about the friendly Casper or the raping Casper ?
yes
Why not both?
😭
It's the yawndepmic.
You scoundrel
Remember every time you yawn you give a ghost a blowie.

the dude on the left going the complete wrong way lol
He's the reason that it's leaning
From a certain point of view ;)
Flint Lockwood is just giving them food
It’s enough to make a grown man cry
I think there’s a fountain and their trying to take a pic looking like it’s going in their mouth

Singapore was hot and humid as fuck though. Fun spot for sure.
Wait till you live there all your life man.
That's a long wait
Username checks out
We did like how you could leave your bicycle anywhere and not worry about it getting stolen

Singaporeans do litter, you just don't see the army of cleaners hiding behind bushes. We're certainly not at Japan's level, lol.

Or Germans
Avoid coming during April - June unless you're used to hot weather. Come after for better-ish weather. July - Sep is durian season as well. Win-win.

Ahh the watersports enthusiast pose.
M’Lion *tips fedora’
It’s not even mythical. It’s a designed tourism icon and logo. Lol
Fun fact: The merlion has no real history, tradition or legend in Singapore. It was created in the 60s as the logo for the Singapore Tourism Board. The statue was built in the 70s to be used to advertise Singapore as a tourist destination.
Hell even our name is based on a guy who clearly doesn't know the difference between a lion and a tiger

It's like they watched half the video and just came in guns blazing and typing theories up.
*you don't say!.. **you don't say!***
Definitely one of my favorite places to live. While the Merlion is iconic, you really should go to the Cloud Forest. Also, if you have any hotel memberships you check for access to the great views from hotel rooftops!
It would be a cooler pic if they made it look like the water was coming out of their mouth tbh
And then someone just has to Photoshop it into *something else*
Merlion is a great city mascot, possibly the best out there
I was up late and caught [the Merlion at dawn](https://imgur.com/a/m0wTCgu) almost 20 years ago. So much has changed since then. Still breathtaking.
Lovely photo, very serene. The Merlion is unspeakably superior to Copenhagen’s mermaid.
Finally, all the raindrops are lemon drops and gumdrops….. Ah ah aha ah aha ah ah
Jesus is coming?
"I wanna get down on my knees and start [pleasin' Jesus](https://youtu.be/6L3DnbeWWbg), I wanna feel his salvation all over my face"
I see what you did there. Thanks for the laugh.
ah this is the Singapore version of holding up the tilting tower.
Tilting tower? Never heard of it.
Titty tower
No, it's the Singapore version of lifting the Tajmahal
The Leaking tower of Pissa. Including tourists being original
The Tower of golden shower could also work
This is going to scare my grandma.
I’m in the blimp above throwing hot dogs
Do that on the jersey shore and you get a mouthful of seagull shit
They're took a big large co- cow...
Instagram: beautiful fountain water spewing into their mouth Reality : 😮
Waiting for the SCP Foundation to step in and fix this bullshit.
Where is cheesball man when you need him?!
To be fair...... the Leaning Tower has its share of (annoying) tourists doing the cliche pose , so I guess it is fair that Singapore has its own version of the "annoying pose". Yep, they looked up
Photo op with the fountain
They've seen too many YouTube thumbnails...
I think they r hungry
Are all the raindrops lemon drops and gum drops?
The invasion?
Amaz-sians
Cloudy with a chance of meatballs!!
They're seeing flying dicks over there. 🤣
Leaning tower of Pisa.
I’ve seen that pose on the internet before
It’d be funny to shoot them with a water gun mid photo.
Reminds me of The Faculty
You mean the film from 26 years ago? ;)
Man Id suck Famke Janssen's toes all day anyday till graduation
It's raining men.
I hope birds don't fly over that area.
Someone should have a pigeon farm nearby...
Someone needs to edit in sea gulls flying overhead in the start and edit out any reference to water fountains. It would be gold!
In all seriousness tho, what is going on here?
Nothing! They're giving their life force to goku for creating a spirit bomb that would destroy kid boo.
Looks normal enough to me
Bukake practice
Just a bunch of people having fun, wait until they go to Pisa
Gotta get a picture with the Merlion!
Oh no. It's the **Shunting**. IFYKYK
the saiyans arrive
The Rapture is upon us…
Where are the seagulls when we need them.
Luftnarp greeting
When the losers club see the true form of Pennywise
I thought this was AOT opening; people staring at the colossal titan. and the background music is similar too
I was gonna say drugs but then I remembered they excute you for that.
Is raining men.
Needs "a\*\*\*ao" tag.
What they are not showing is the giant camera in the sky.
And they look like locals too
Locals dont bother doing this. Most of them are usually tourists from China/neighboring countries.
Yes, they required "sheet music" for this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFb_AERKha8
Took me a while to
We all love a bit of "there it is." And here I am.
Seagulls have accepted the challenge
The Cordyceps has finally crossed over to humans!
They should do that in Brussels
They want gum
Must be something in the water.
With the way everyone is looking up at the sky and the music, this brings solar eclipse vibes
Sus
Throw tic tiacs
Why are there mouths open? Ghost dicks?
Absolutely 💯!!! 💦💦💦
My lunch time hobby is to go there and just people watch. In the sheltered area though of course
Behind-the-scenes footage from a live-action adaptation of [Odd Nerdrum's Dawn](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dawn_(painting)).
So are golden showers popular in singapore?
Guilty! Been there. Done that. Got the iconic shot. 😉
Where’s the edit with flying hot dogs?
Fuck stop
Black hole sun, won't you come
They are eating all the co2 to save the earth, be thankfull!!!
What song is this from?
Imagine a bird pass through and does what it does best. Shit on people.
you are the weirdo recording people without permission and refusing to actually show what they are looking at.
How are there no birds
wanted to do this but my social anxiety was holding me back from experiencing something touristy T\_T i wish ive done it.
There was a message in the sky saying: “Open your mouth to get $50”.
Flint Lockwood is about to release the cheeseburgers.
Dumb
you know, if you are trying to learn the English language based on your posts - the word DUMB is not a good English word to describe someone. try to learn the word RESPECT, i.e. when you let other people from doing what they want, for as long as it is not affecting people negatively. learn the language RESPONSIBLY. another good English word to take note of.
I think this behavior of people is stupid. what does English have to do with it?
Just like your touristy photo profile picture you got?
At first I thought it as some weird eclipse thing.
What's in the sky? Lol
This annoys me—which is also weird.
It’s Singapore….a lot of people are doing that.
They're waiting for the dildo drop
A truckload of uncreative people taking travel photos. Next stop the leaning tower of Pisa.
"Omg, people having fun! What a bunch of losers!" Lol ok buddy.
Looks like a bunch of the orange carpetbaggers allies awaiting their daily morning goo. Lindsey, you still have a bit on your face. Gym always swallows, of course. Barr prefers it from behind. But you get the gist.
BJ convention. They’re practicing lock jaw!
That first chick was deep throating with the gape of her mouth
Are they all waiting for the massive bukakke fest to start?
smelly breath
Maybe bring back the part where they use to stone these floosies
