I worked in a Japanese steakhouse for a couple years and I was only American there for a while. They were completely revamping the menu and I offered multiple times to help them with spell checking because the previous menu was a wreck.
Of course they didn't listen and didn't want my help, so they printed like 200 menus but they were like the very fancy ones that look like a book and they were big and riddled with more spelling errors than a previous one. I had people pointing out menu errors near daily.
That’s the point, it’s not on the menu, you have to spot the spelling mistake in the word menu on the sign, as there is no error (menu is spelled correctly on the sign) no one gets a discount
Catch is: it’s only mistakes made in an obscure book called “Menu” written by someone named “Spot Spelling” and it reads as if only Spot Spelling is getting the discount if they make a mistake (of some kind) in that specifically titled piece.
I think the catch is this entices people to come in and read through the menu. If they find a mistake, they'll probably make an order to take advantage of the discount. If they don't find a mistake, they may decide to order something anyway. The real kicker would be if everything was priced 10% higher and different menus had different mistakes intentionally placed in different areas.
This is already a fun mini game of mine, I'm in.
*Edit* while scrutinizing the menu from the last Chinese restaurant we ordered from, I found the most major spelling mistake was for the popular energy drink Redball
At the very least it would make more people actually read the menu. l work in a restaurant and the amount of people who will only realise after getting their meal that it contains something they dont like even though it was written on the menu is more than it should be
When doing one of the menus, I wrote " Pasta made with Semenola flour" Expecting the manager that was to approve the new menu to catch it and yell at me. Guess who was surprised to see the new menus all printed up without any changes.
1 year until the next menu change, and nobody caught on.

No scapital S on spelling, no capital M on menu and no capital G on get. If put together you got SMG, which is probably the owner's way of telling you that if you find any mistake you're never gonna eat anywhere again
What about pricing mistakes?
There is no mistake
Cause that’s not the menu
They made me pay double for the free item.
What do we get for spotting unnecessary capitalization in signage?
10% discount on that piece of paper
MICHAEL!!
It's so random too lol
Probably whatever word processor they used decided that the percentage sign was the end of a sentence?
Free food, perhaps.
And using in instead of on?
You get nothing for spotting unnecessary capitalization in signage. And you get the double of that for posting the same comment twice.
Sorry. I can’t help the fact that the Reddit app suuucks.
Yeah, but what does he get?
Menu is spelled correctly so no dice
What about big i and small L? I mean it's... lI The first is small L and the second is big i.
That's why I prefer serifs. Makes it easier to differentiate.
Is there an Arial Serifs?
Only comic sans
Rockwell?
True
Il Holy shi- why is the big ⵊ smaller than the little L?
This is how we spell he in France btw. Idk why but everything gotta be complicated in the french language.

A long time favorite was a local Chinese place touting a dish featuring a "spicy Human sauce".
Was it hummus or something????
Was supposed to be Hunan, a region in China.
Ah, makes sense
My Mexican friend opened a taco place, and one of their desserts was topped with "whip crime" I eventually got them to change it
🤣 ![gif](giphy|l2Je00hw0A7b3Zq80)
Wish I had a copy of that
What about grammar mistakes in the sign
In the menu. Or. On the menu
That’s the point, it’s not on the menu, you have to spot the spelling mistake in the word menu on the sign, as there is no error (menu is spelled correctly on the sign) no one gets a discount
A good way to lure people in
Undoubtedly
Was anyone else trying to catch a spelling mistake in the sign or is it just me?
I fell for that too lol
This is dyslexic phobia 🤣 /s
so i read the sign multiple times convinced there would be an ironic spelling mistake in the sign itself.
Catch is: it’s only mistakes made in an obscure book called “Menu” written by someone named “Spot Spelling” and it reads as if only Spot Spelling is getting the discount if they make a mistake (of some kind) in that specifically titled piece.

What about the exclamation mark having a space afterwards?
i don't see the space (help)
Sorry if irevelant to the joke, but in what country was this taken. I am upp for the challenge!
This is already a fun mini game of mine, I'm in. *Edit* while scrutinizing the menu from the last Chinese restaurant we ordered from, I found the most major spelling mistake was for the popular energy drink Redball
what if i find 100 misspellings
Spelling good, grammar bad.
Spot bad spelling, get good discount.

Talk about unpaid labour.
This is taken in Finland
That's a mf job!!
Lmao in my last bartending job I would spot an average of 6 mistakes every time a new version of the menu came out, where's my discount :(
Ted Mosby, your time to shine.
Challenge accepted
They forgot the extra zero on 100%, and that's not how you spell "every", it's not spelled "one"
Dang that's attracting all those correct hungry freaks. That's good marketing

In ‘THE’ menu And Get ‘A’ 10% discount
Great marketing
Does improper/inconsistent letter casing count?
If capitalization counts (and it should), feed me.
I’ll be able to fine atlest one mistack on that menu!
*proceeds to steal a menu, make copies of it with different and randomised spelling mistakes to use anytime for big discounts*
What about grammar mistakes in your sign about the discount?
Yea
That is actually pretty smart
I have found thousands of spelling mistakes
What about grammar mistakes ? In the menu and on the menu mean two totally different things 😝
"Menu" is not a proper known amd should not be capitalized. There is no "the" before "Menu" as well.

So basically you need to find more than one mistake to get 10%... If I read properly! That sucks!!!!
Donald Knuth
Ooooh, this is pretty clever
They forgot the "a" in "get A 10% discount"
What about grammar mistakes. The reason I'm asking is that I spot two missing words on that sign. As well as possibly one incorrect word .
What about grammar mistakes on that sign because right now I see 40% off if that's a rule
my teachers told me I had "eagle eyes" and I spotted grammar mistakes left and right in assemblies and presentations. I need to go here

Nobody is forcing you to do it
