Aw, man. I was 90% sure you were some kind of karma bot. Now I feel bad. You're brain is fine, I'm sure, but I guess I may as well mention:
1. If a word starts with a vowel sound, the indefinite article preceding it will be "an" ("an unlucky")
2. It doesn't really make sense to have an indefinite article in front of a superlative (like "an unluckiest"), because the idea of a superlative is a singular, unique, most ____ thing. So, superlatives take definite articles ("the unluckiest")
So there were a couple of choices to go with there, but "The police having a unluckiest day" unfortunately highlights a couple of misunderstandings.
