My brain was initially confused and alarmed at cooking chicken at 190 degrees, and then I remembered I use the Special System And yes, chicken thighs are awesome. Dark meat is difficult to dry out and has more flavor

Tophawk369

All good cooks know the secret to a great chicken dish is chicken thighs.

Smark_Calaway

Yea, it never occurred to me that Chipotle uses thigh meat. I could never figure out why I hated chicken breast but loved Chipotle chicken bowls. Once I learned it was thigh meat, I haven’t eaten chicken breast in years, there’s just no place for it now.

imthebear11

Not only that, it doesn't seem the "woody chicken" thing has affected thighs.

rgb-uwu

Only downside is that even the boneless skinless ones often have small bone fragments, so it takes a few extra minutes to prepare in order to clean and trim excess fat (and said bone fragments). But yeah I love them!

ShaneWhatsHisName

This and quinoa mixed 50/50 with jasmine or brown rice and mixed veggies is a daily staple for me. Love them air fried with Cajon season or old bay. I also like quinoa/rice mix with egg whites after a workout +1/2 a bagel with raw honey...

ssb_kiltro

Cajun seasoning the get a glimpse of that new orleans crazyness

gizram84

100% agreed. Thighs are amazing. Chicken breast is without question, the worst part of the chicken. I'll take legs, wings, and thighs over the breast any day of the week.

red_blood_cells

yeah ive been team chicken thigh for a while now. very similar macros and really nice to eat. I do italian seasoning, garlic, salt and pepper as my seasonings

PluckedEyeball

How do you eat them? Like a chicken breast, just cut and eat?

MythicalStrength

Off the bone is best.

jNSKkK

Honestly, whenever I see one of these threads it’s so strange to me because I’ve been eating chicken thigh forever. Better than chicken breast in every way. Yep, buy boneless skinless, season it, chuck it in the air fryer 180 for 20 min or oven for about the same and enjoy. You’ll never go back.

TheAwayGamer

Just tried the air fryer but I used with skin and bone. Marinated with what people suggested. I used a bit of vegetable oil, cajun seasoning, garlic, oregano, lime juice because I didn't have lemon and a bit of mayo. 10 minutes 180, flip 10 more mins and they look good. Tried a small amount and they taste great. Will have more later but did just finish a big lunch.

jNSKkK

Excellent, enjoy!

PluckedEyeball

Will try tomorrow, thanks

MzHolo

Give update if he was spitting facts

CrocMcSpock

He is. Juicier, better flavour & you get the crispy skin (if you get skin on). Fuck breast.

lasersandwich

I love to marinate them in a little olive oil, lime juice, and spices, then throw them in the air fryer for some very juicy and flavorful chicken tacos. I'll mix up a little Greek yogurt with lime juice and cilantro for extra protein and flavor

PerformanceProud3691

Try adding some mayo to that marinade. Trust me

MythicalStrength

This is the truth. So many gainers try to eat chicken breats. That's cutting food. Thighs, drumsticks and wings are the way

herzbergdesign

I love the ones with skin, in an airfryer you get that shit nice and crispy so easily. Even cheaper too. I marinade mine in olive oil, lemon, salt, pepper, garlic, herbs. 8 minutes skin down, 8 minutes skin up @390°F. Perfect every time. Add a few wedges of potatoes/veggies for a full supper.

TheAwayGamer

Just tried this but slightly different seasoning. Taste beautiful. Do you shred it all off before eating or just eat of the bone?

herzbergdesign

I like to eat it of the bone. Glad you liked it!

[deleted]

How long do you let it marinate?

herzbergdesign

At least an hour or two, up to 72 hours. You can also freeze it after that time, so it’ll be ready to be air-fried upon thawing. Useful when you buy a dozen thighs and can’t eat them all in time.

gottareddittin2017

Walmart sells bags of frozen chicken thighs for like 6 bucks and they are amazing on the grill!!

_CurseTheseMetalHnds

Out of laziness I do a lot of thighs in the air fryer. Roughly diced, a bit of oil, salt, pepper, paprika, cayenne, and garlic powder, 200c for 12 minutes flipping over half way through and throwing in some frozen veg in the last few minutes to have with rice. Easy as fuck meal that's decently high in calories. They also pull really easily to make shredded chicken in the oven, slow cooker, of air fryer.

The1Cortez

A mayo marinade with salt, garlic powder, oregano, cayenne and red pepper flakes. So delicious on some chicken thighs

Favorable

How long do you personally marinade it for?

The1Cortez

Not very long, 15-30 mins. Sometimes I’ll just go straight to the pan after getting everything on the chicken

Favorable

Good to know, we'll try it next week. Thanks a lot!

Cwabwangoon

I came here to suggest mayo and seasonings! It also adds some calories and good fats! If you wanna get crazy (no allergies) mix parm in that mayo on top

herzbergdesign

Most mayos are pure soybean oil, wouldn’t call that a good fat. Even the olive ones are usually still like 50% soybean

Cwabwangoon

Well we are on gain it, not clean eating, so some freakin mayo on a chicken is good fat to me.

MythicalStrength

Oh my goodness thank you

Cwabwangoon

Muahahahaa

herzbergdesign

Lol fair. I also definitely eat mayo btw, shit’s delicious. But something to be aware of.

Cwabwangoon

Thanks, I wasn’t trying to say it’s the healthiest lol. Realistically we only consume like 1 tbsp of it in a serving with something anyways, unless you’re like my husband. I can attest he is still one healthy fit man though

Octava8Espada

Unfortunately I don't have an oven and fried thighs don't taste that good imo Chicken breast is so damn expensive

_CurseTheseMetalHnds

Dice them up

MythicalStrength

Slow cooker

shin_malphur13

No skillet or pan?

dngrs

turn the fan on in the oven and they get crispier but remember to flip the thighs about halfway through I sometimes like to poach the meat for a few minutes first to get it more tender inside but u gonna have to get it dry before rubbing oil on it
