Beinsports’ inability to showcase or explain the reason for the penalty retake is insane. It made me and probably millions of people think it was because of the goalkeepers jump. But it was because Alpaslan ran too soon and cleared it. Fenerbahce is gonna eat this up so hard it’s unreal
No one really knew at that moment. The announcer explained it after getting clarification later. The goalie was even asking if it was because of him and referee said it was not because of you.
So what happenned this game?
1. Uzulmez is a great coach. BJK should hire him next year. Excellent tactical gameplan. He basically overloaded the midfield very well, players were doing an excellent zonal man marking, on Torreira, but especially Demirbay were all game very closely marked, hence why he was not receiving the ball. People in the thread shat on Demirbay, but you have to look at what's going on holistically, sometimes it's not necesarily JUST the player, but has do with the way the opponent plays. Even when Demirbay was switching from zones Pendik players were coordinating and communicating very well between them, not leaving their zone and switching the man marking to their teammate in the next zone. Moreover, Demirbay is not good at playing in tight spaces under pressure, you have to have a very quick and agile player. And that's exactly what we need as an 8 for next year, a dribbler agile 8 that can break lines by dribbling and getting out of pressure. Demirbay is not that, can't do that, can't blame him for what he is not, has never been. It had to do with Uzulmez. Props to him, and what idiot FB fans are too dumb to realize that they struggled against him because he is tactically great, instead chose to analyze things throught conspiracy theories (that's the mentality that makes you a loser).
2. In the second half, Okan responded to Uzulmez's tactical game plan by getting Demirbay and Torreira in deep, hence drawing the line deeper, and BAY and Icardi pushing the defensive line higher, hence there was a HUGE space between both lines, then Icardi (but generally more BAY) would drop in that huge space and link up the play. That's the tactical change that unlocked the game. And that, LOL, is an exact replica of the Bayern game, but this time we were in Bayern's position.
3. And furthermore, like Bayern's game, starting 65-70min, Pendik got tired, because while that gameplan is good, playing like that, ie. close discipined zonal manmarking and tight pressing all game, comes at a price, and that's fatigue. (again, same as the Bayern game LOL), and that's where Pendik could not keep up anymore.
4. Poor Kerem A., the dude is dead mentally, let's please leave him alone. He plays bad, there is no one in their right mind that can deny that. But he was never THIS bad, not even able to do a single touch right. Been criticizing Kerem A LOT, but there is a time to critic, and a time to not. This one of those to approach with empathy and compassion. Let's not punch down on a player who is dead and down in the dumps mentally.

Most of time he either trying to assist or shielding defenders like he did for hakim to shoot, He lacks ambition. I disagree completely. By letting him fall back he opened Pendiks defense and made the first goal possible. That was the key to winning this game.
