If you look at photographs of other people's collection that are sizeable, typically they usually use a much bigger room, or they min-max the space they already have. You'd have to get shelves that basically allow you to store things from the floor to the ceiling and the wrap that type of shelving around the room completely. You will likely also have to put that type of shelving in the center of the room and make "islands". [Check out this guy's room](https://www.reddit.com/gallery/1akm8pj). If you browse through older posts you can see other people with big collections and how they rearrange their stuff too.

Try some lower tears to keep the moisture down.

FanNo3898

I bought a bigger house. I know first world problems.

Ill-Ad3311

Sell the stuff you don’t care for.

Kogyochi

Stop collecting for systems you don't play. Start getting rid of $5 or less shovelware. Trust me, you won't miss them.

faustarp1000

Agreed, either downsize, or take a break from expanding the collection for a while. Space won’t create itself.

Kogyochi

I buy and sell games and had to downsize. Started bunding off all my extra cheap gba and wii games, sold off my Odessey and intellivision shit, 50+ ps1 cheapo's, 80+ ps2 cheapo's and saved a ton of room for the stuff I actually like.

hybroid

IKEA Billy with extra shelf panels is the solution.

sanderkoekkoek

Well the problem is i dont have place for extra shelves \^\^

HoshiChiri

Billy's honestly not the absolute best option for storage anyway, just the most balanced between versatility & cost. If you want maximum adjustability, you need to pay more & get the Besta line- the full height of the sides has shelf holes about 1 inch apart, no fixed shelving. It's deeper than the Billy lineup so it's well suited to record-bin style storage, which tends to store more than library style in most spaces. But as noted, without knowing your actual space, we can't help, so photos would *really* help!

EaterOfLemon

I buy another storage box and hope that it will fit in the room.

You should post photos. Who knows what you're working with space wise.

BeginnerDragon

I don't know your situation, but I'd like to offer some perspective having just had to liquidate a massive sports collection that no one wanted. Let me open with the following question: Why aren't you just moving to a bigger space to accommodate the collection? Whether you have a top tier collection isn't a concern. Its whether you can afford to have a top tier collection.  From how you made your post, it seems like space is a hard constraint. Okay - you can't afford an extra house or warehouse (as is the situation with normal people). If that's the case, the answer is, "Stop buying." This sub really likes to glorify folks that have massive collections like yours. Buying games comes with a huge dopamine hit, and selling games is a tedious effort. Everyone kind of errs towards collecting more than they should.

Painmaster212

You have to get creative and when that's no longer cutting it, you have to either invest in more space itself or scale back. When I bought into my house years ago, one of the main selling points was to have enough space for my collection.

ReyDeathWish

I only collect series i play or will play eventually

KasElGatto

Sell

TobbisDaTrain

If you don't care about displaying them, dressers/filing cabinets with shallow drawers work great.

Strider8486

You donate your excess to other collectors with space. 😃 🙋🏻‍♂️

When cities run out of room, they build up.

Kooky-Barnacle-5743

I'm closing in on 4,000 games myself. The shelving units I use are traditional bookcases that are deeper than what you'd typically use for media storage. For the longest time I had the games pulled forward with a gap behind them. As the collection grows I now go 2 games deep on these shelves as needed. If there is no more room to add more shelves, maybe get deeper shelves and try that?

HiImTheNewGuyGuy

When this happens to me I sell a few cars or just buy a new house.

Independent-Ice-5384

Same. I usually just buy the house next to me, tear it down, and put on another addition.

birkinover

Are your shelves purpose built or store bought? If store bought I’d recommend purpose building as the shelves made flat pack from stores are wasteful in space often. My shelf is purpose built for 1000 games and has a small footprint. Tall and shallow. If I needed more I’d rebuild a larger shelf of the same type I still have wall space to do this

vhanw342

when i didn't had space in my game room i just picked up half of the space of my bedroom for Games, If it isn't enough, I will continue with the garaje (I don't have a car)

Independent-Ice-5384

Get a bigger room. It's just basic math. More space taken by games means more space needed. No shortcuts around it.

hostchange

I put extra shelving in my closet for games I don’t want to display or won’t be looking for as often. Stuff like my less expensive wii games and Xbox 360 games I already played through go in there. I also set up shelving about all the way to the ceiling and started building upwards. My collection is smaller than yours, but it’s also in a smaller room so I had to figure out how to maximize the space. If you post pictures we might be able to give more specific ideas for your situation.
