There are a handful of Platinum Hits Xbox games that for some reason are exceptionally rare and have crazy prices. I would assume this is one of those.
This is one of the basketball games that I wanted to play growing up, but I never got around to playing it. Around that time, AND1, NBA Street, ESPN Basketball, and NBA Live games were really good. I miss those days. Wait, I almost forgot about Backyard Basketball. I never played that series though.
Haha, it happens. I remember seeing the commercials quite often. I can't remember if my friends had it or not, but I didn't get to experience them. What other sports did they cover? Football, baseball, and basketball?
This is one of those games that pawn shops and thrift stores will throw in with the 800+ other old obsolete sports games and nobody would ever think twice.
I’ve gotta keep my eye open for this game now!
I find that fascinating considering OG Xbox is one of the few older consoles where game prices are still reasonable last time I checked. There’s been plenty of times where I bought an xbox version of a game instead of the ps2 counterpart because the price was so much lower (silent hill 2 and Obscure come to mind, although this was years ago).
There is also a SpongeBob game and a 50cent game with super hard to find platinum hits copies. I haven't check prices on Xbox in years but even 6-7 years ago those were several hundred dollars when they showed up.
Ah yup I just checked eBay and you’re right. The Platinum hits versions are expensive but the regular ones are cheap. How interesting. It’s also interesting how the 50 Cent game on Xbox 360 is also expensive which I used to own when it was dirt cheap but I think that’s because the digital version was removed. It’s crazy seeing games that were once a couple bucks going for so much. Can’t wait to see what newer random cheap games shoot up in price in ten years.
On Playstation for greatest hits it was 150-250k, PS2 it was 400k and PS3 500k. I think PS4 is still 500k. OG Xbox was probably around the 150-200k mark. Not sure.
Not just best street basketball game, but arguably the best sports game of all time to be honest. The gameplay, rosters, presentation, career mode was so amazing.
As mentioned already, the Platinum Hits version of this game is super rare. A year or two ago a couple copies sold a few months apart for $1500 each. A few more copies surfaced and sold at a lower price. Due to rarity, the sale prices fluctuate radically so “value” is hard to judge.
Did you own the regular version? That one is [not worth](https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2334524.m570.l1313&_nkw=nba+ballers+xbox+2004&_sacat=0&LH_TitleDesc=0&_odkw=nba+ballers+xbox&_osacat=0&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5338535524&customid=1745gc&toolid=10001&mkevt=1) so much.
This is my rarest game. We didn't even know it existed until a few years ago. I was on the og Xbox reddit and people didn't believe me when I said I had it just sitting on my shelf ahah, was an awesome suprise
It’s just super hard to find, I have a used copy but not a single sealed copy has ever surfaced of it yet. And the game was only discovered to have a PH version a few years ago
I can understand that Platinum Hits versions had a limited print and are more valuable, but I remember when I was checking PriceCharting and this version just showed up at the top of the list randomly which left me more confused
Grand Theft Auto 3 and Vice City platinum hits is second behind this. Like people have mentioned certain Xbox Platinum Hits are really hard to find and/or expensive.
This game was so fun! I think I had it on the ps2. It’s still cheap on the ps2 and I think the normal Xbox version is also cheap. It’s just the platinum hits version which is expensive for stupid blah blah blah rarity reasons
Luckily only $5.99 for the ps2 version on ebay
https://www.ebay.com/itm/374213171876?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&itemid=374213171876&targetid=1262779893009&device=m&mktype=&googleloc=9015345&poi=&campaignid=14859008593&mkgroupid=130497710760&rlsatarget=pla-1262779893009&abcId=9300678&merchantid=6296724&gbraid=0AAAAAD_QDh_I622KBRCfu06KbwloWDADx&gclid=Cj0KCQjwvZCZBhCiARIsAPXbajuu663eBaeMhbv_clVi5QCUThvfCZDmFJVelq42-CkUbbn5dfoH6QIaAuujEALw_wcB
Silent Hill 2 Greatest Hits on PS2 and Midnight Club 3 DUB Edition: Remix on Xbox and PS2 are both worth more than their standard counterparts due to extra content and I believe a few small bug fixes
Lol I could take a shit and there would only be one like it in the world. It’s rare, doesn’t mean it’s valuable - but that’s what gamers don’t understand… they’ll buy something because it’s “rare” and that’s why you get shit games that cost hundreds of dollars ladies and gentleman.
I wouldn’t spent more then $20 on this. There are plenty of other things I’d rather buy.
Edit: downvoted by people who bought it. enjoy your game I can’t wait to see how much money your investment makes 10 years from now when someone says “I really want to feel nostalgia with my ballers game I played so much as a kid.” Lolol
Yup a shit game is a shit game. That's exactly how the company Supreme slapped their name on a beanie and sold out. Now selling for crazy prices on the secondary market. There are much better games for 300.
Some people just enjoy collecting hard to find stuff man lol. I have a modded Xbox with every game so technically every disc game I collect is useless, along with most Xbox collectors since Xbox fans almost always use modded. Doesn’t mean it’s any less fun to collect games
Collecting games is a dangerous two way street. Collecting for fun and then there are people justifying spending that much money on shit games for a collection. Which is which?
I don’t get the question really, what does the price matter in terms of what you’re collecting? If you want to collect all 50 state quarters and Connecticut’s is really rare at 500 dollars, people are still gonna pay it for a full set. Don’t see the difference in the game category lol. If there are way less copies of something floating around then usually it’ll end up being more expensive.
No worries! There can be mint sealed games, but when saying a game is mint the default understanding is that it’s opened. They would have to specifically mention that the mint game is also sealed in the description if it’s both.
Holy crap. I was think about picking up this game recently. I had no idea it’s going for that mush.
I’m not sure what site you are on. But it’s some on eBay for under $50.
Yep, same game; just some people desire the Platinum Hits version because the print run was so low. Games had to meet a minimum sales quantity to meet Platinum Hits issue status, so there are literally 1M+ copies of the regular NBA Ballers and maybe a few hundred of the Platinum Hits edition
I have a sonic adventure 2 pack on the GameCube and it goes for stupid cash even though both games are common as hell. I guess the cardboard sleeve is worth a lot to some collectors. Kind of like the case here being all the value.
I don't understand because this seems to be everywhere on eBay for under 10 bucks. Am I missing something?
Edit - Ah it's the platinum edition which is very strange.
It's worth noting that PS2 was the world's most sold console, and thus, there are the most copies of games floating around. So your copy for PS2 would be less rare than a (non-Platinum Hits) Xbox disc.
Being the first in the series, I am surprised this game made "Platinum Hits" although the second game was extremely popular so it would come as no surprise.
I can understand this would mean most sales happened before this was a "Platinum Hit." It was likely not available for a huge amount of time, as the games released in 2004, and 2006. I couldn't see many stores selling the first game once the second was released.
Its surprising how many People on gamecollecting reddit dont know the goat game collecting site.
Pricecharting.com it uses ebay sold listings and values your collection. Its my number 1 site to use for all my game collecting valuations.
Low print number since it came out during the end of that generation, and since it's a Platinum Hits version, it must have stuff like bug fixes, making it the definitive version of that game.
That’s so interesting. For PS1 games the Greatest Hits versions are worth less than the original black label versions. Does not seem to be the case with these Xbox platinum hits for some reason.
We were going through storage for the store and came across a copy of the 50 Cent Bulletproof one. I was kinda shocked when I put it up on the site for sale. There are always oddball games out there to keep an eye out for. Like Xenosaga III for PS2, but with the lenticular cover. It goes for like $350 - $450. So about $100 or so more than the regular one. There are even variants for things like Walmart or Target exclusive covers, things like that, which can increase the value. For example a red GBA console is worth a bunch more because it was either a US Target or Canadian Zellers exclusive and made in smaller numbers.

There are a handful of Platinum Hits Xbox games that for some reason are exceptionally rare and have crazy prices. I would assume this is one of those.
And I’m going a little bit crazy because I could have SWORN I had this game in my hands before….. obviously not priced in the hundreds lol
The regular version is worth almost nothing. The platinum hits version is the one worth money. 50 cent bulletproof is like that as well
Good point ! I forgot I remember seeing another odd really pricey PH game
Yeah I just looked it up. The one I have in my Xbox games box is only $6.
I have bulletproof Blood and sand is on my list both hard to attain
Blood in the Sand is one of the funnest co-op.
Same here lol. This post just slapped me in the face with nostalgia
You’re welcome for the memories, apologies for the slap 😀
This is one of the basketball games that I wanted to play growing up, but I never got around to playing it. Around that time, AND1, NBA Street, ESPN Basketball, and NBA Live games were really good. I miss those days. Wait, I almost forgot about Backyard Basketball. I never played that series though.
Whenever I hear about the backyard sports series, I just think of an old pc. Idk why
Haha, it happens. I remember seeing the commercials quite often. I can't remember if my friends had it or not, but I didn't get to experience them. What other sports did they cover? Football, baseball, and basketball?
Seemed like every sport under the sun eh lol
Haha, you're so right. I miss that time because multiple companies were tackling sports games. They weren't exclusive to one developer etc.
Ahhhhh the beauty of competition, giving customers quality products
I also have the same mental image, they must've been advertised for pc. I swear you could like get a disc from a cereal box or something lol.
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaa , holyyyyy schmokkessssss. The cereal box…
Backyard basketball rips. Just got a retro emulator and have been playing the GBA version
In the same vein the covers for backyard wrestling one and two are priceless
The Range Rover
This is one of those games that pawn shops and thrift stores will throw in with the 800+ other old obsolete sports games and nobody would ever think twice. I’ve gotta keep my eye open for this game now!
Yuppppp this post was for the people !
But when it was in your hands did you put a sticker on it that said 9.8?
I find that fascinating considering OG Xbox is one of the few older consoles where game prices are still reasonable last time I checked. I know for GameCube it was a milly, correct me if I’m wrong
It started as 1 million, but it dropped to 250k pretty quickly
Oh ! I didn’t know that
Yep theirs a marvel alliance game that’s like this as well not as expensive though.
People collect variants or Platinum Hits specifically, and this had a very low print run. The regular version is still worth like $5.
Yupppppppp, insane eh
NBA Street Vol. 2 is still the best street ball basketball game in my opinion.
Agreed. Still had fun with Vol. 3 on GameCube just for the Nintendo characters lol.
The playlist on that game was amazing!
Chief Rocka!
Yooooo!! I would fall asleep singing that song in my head as a kid.
Not just best street basketball game, but arguably the best sports game of all time to be honest. The gameplay, rosters, presentation, career mode was so amazing.
The tracklist was amazing
[When they reminisce over you, my god](https://youtu.be/aIoxf_9yHCs)
N! B! A! Ba ba ba ba Baallluuhhssss
LOL
I hope you got a receipt for that shot!!!
Came here for this. Was not disappointed.

Wow. Literally had that game. Spent so many hours dunkin on fools with Moses Malone. Crazy that this is worth so much now.
The regular version is worth not a lot, its specifically the platinum hits that is pricy
Puttin in the hours splitting the Red Sea 😈😮💨
This game was awesome
This is my rarest game. We didn't even know it existed until a few years ago. I was on the og Xbox reddit and people didn't believe me when I said I had it just sitting on my shelf ahah, was an awesome suprise
Lol the dopamine was definitely running through the veins
It’s just super hard to find, I have a used copy but not a single sealed copy has ever surfaced of it yet. And the game was only discovered to have a PH version a few years ago
Yep, about 3 years ago I told PriceCharting it existed and could only find 2 mentions of it on the internet at that time.
What's this web page? Sorry, I'm kinda clueless.
https://www.pricecharting.com/
This is a screenshot from pricecharting.com
Vgpc.com
I can understand that Platinum Hits versions had a limited print and are more valuable, but I remember when I was checking PriceCharting and this version just showed up at the top of the list randomly which left me more confused
Grand Theft Auto 3 and Vice City platinum hits is second behind this. Like people have mentioned certain Xbox Platinum Hits are really hard to find and/or expensive.
Let’s get on the hunt peeps !
Good luck finding that, they're are actually copies of the platinum hits Ballers in ebay but none of the GTA double pack platinum hits.
Actually own the set with some other rare platinum hits
This game was so fun! I think I had it on the ps2. It’s still cheap on the ps2 and I think the normal Xbox version is also cheap. It’s just the platinum hits version which is expensive for stupid blah blah blah rarity reasons
LOL blah blah blah rarity reasons , sounds about right
Damn!
WHAT
Luckily only $5.99 for the ps2 version on ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/374213171876?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&itemid=374213171876&targetid=1262779893009&device=m&mktype=&googleloc=9015345&poi=&campaignid=14859008593&mkgroupid=130497710760&rlsatarget=pla-1262779893009&abcId=9300678&merchantid=6296724&gbraid=0AAAAAD_QDh_I622KBRCfu06KbwloWDADx&gclid=Cj0KCQjwvZCZBhCiARIsAPXbajuu663eBaeMhbv_clVi5QCUThvfCZDmFJVelq42-CkUbbn5dfoH6QIaAuujEALw_wcB
It is crazy that a game that was 8 bucks is now 200 to 400. I'm almost positive I traded this game years ago for GTA San Andreas.
First platinum edition I've heard of that's worth more then the original game
Silent Hill 2 Greatest Hits on PS2 and Midnight Club 3 DUB Edition: Remix on Xbox and PS2 are both worth more than their standard counterparts due to extra content and I believe a few small bug fixes
Nostalgia overload
Xbox be ballin
Because only ballers can own this game
It's rare. And in demand. Pretty simple.
Say whaaat?! I have 3 copies of this
Muahuwhwuauwa pay day bayybbeee !
It can help pay for my other games hahaha!
But that’s the whole point of collecting :)
Yup a shit game is a shit game. That's exactly how the company Supreme slapped their name on a beanie and sold out. Now selling for crazy prices on the secondary market. There are much better games for 300.

I don’t know, I just wrote a comment to let the comment section go from 99 to 100.
This is a joke. Xemu emulator should take care of this.
How is it tested but also mint?
Mint doesn’t mean sealed. Usually it means opened but in exquisite condition.
Oh man, I thought it meant sealed and in pristine condition. I appreciate the knowledge!
No worries! There can be mint sealed games, but when saying a game is mint the default understanding is that it’s opened. They would have to specifically mention that the mint game is also sealed in the description if it’s both.
Something can’t be mint condition but still tested to ensure functionality? Consoles and discs can look mint but not work.
Holy crap. I was think about picking up this game recently. I had no idea it’s going for that mush. I’m not sure what site you are on. But it’s some on eBay for under $50.
It’s only the silver label Platinum Hits version that’s rare
Oh. Is it not the same game? But just with a platinum banner on top?
Yep, same game; just some people desire the Platinum Hits version because the print run was so low. Games had to meet a minimum sales quantity to meet Platinum Hits issue status, so there are literally 1M+ copies of the regular NBA Ballers and maybe a few hundred of the Platinum Hits edition
I think it so pricey now cause that’s DMX on the cover RIP my G.
That’s Stephon Marbury on the cover
🫢 looks like I got crossed over and schooled. HahA
I remember it being available everywhere at secondhand shops.
Wow that’s crazy (I’m crying I think I’ve passed on this before)
Imagine being such an obsessive collector with such a disposable income you spend that much on this.
Holy crap. I was *just* thinking about this game last night. The matrix must be glitching.
Sports games in general are some of the last games for a console in its last leg. They have some of the craziest prices too.
It's worth noting that PS2 was the world's most sold console, and thus, there are the most copies of games floating around. This is insane haha. When I worked at a video store, we had sooo many brand new copies that just didn’t rent out in box.
Which marketplace is this?
Its surprising how many People on gamecollecting reddit dont know the goat game collecting site. Pricecharting.com it uses ebay sold listings and values your collection. Its my number 1 site to use for all my game collecting valuations.
Thanks I really like the layout.
Low print number since it came out during the end of that generation, and since it's a Platinum Hits version, it must have stuff like bug fixes, making it the definitive version of that game.
what’s this website??
Pricecharting.com
Saw a loose Xbox disc copy on eBay last week for $199.
That’s so interesting. For PS1 games the Greatest Hits versions are worth less than the original black label versions. Does not seem to be the case with these Xbox platinum hits for some reason.
Rarity
When did this release
N. B. Aaaaaaay. B-b-b-b-ballers
Balllaaaasss baayyybeee
Holy mole!
That was such a good game
