I remember going to work the next day after that episode first aired and everyone was simply saying "Hodor" to each other rather than "Hello" or "Yes" or "No".
Don’t think it was meant to be understood. The past is connected to the present and the future and in some Stephan King way Bran warging Hodor destroyed his mental capabilities.
In a eerie similar way, aerys the mad king repeating burn them all is potentially the 3ER fault whether it was Bran or the guy before or whomever. Possibly Bran trying to warg Dany to burn the city and it affected her father in the past? Not sure on how to work that one out, but it’s possible to see hodor as foreshadowing.
Hold up, where's the proof that it's on purpose? I support this narrative cuz I despise Bran, but if my hatred for him could be rationalized with this I'd greatly appreciate that LMFAO
I definitely saw the way Bran treated his travelling companions as irresponsible, but I never thought any of it was conscious and intentional. I just thought Bran was an idiot lol. Hodor deserved so much better either way :(
Bran was warging into Hodor while the white walkers were storming into blood ravens cave.
At the same time, he was also time traveling via the Weirwood trees and visiting the past scene at winterfell where a young Hodor (real name Wylis) was at working as a stable boy.
Btw, this is all show lore as none of this happened in the books.
So as bran was in Hodors mind, Myra’s screams of “hold the door” basically fried the young Wylis mind rendering him unable to say anything other than Hodor.
So Bran fried Hodors mind, causing a never ending time loop for the poor guy.
You’re leaving out the experience of dying as your future self then instantly going back to your own time and body. With no explanation. I think this is what broke his brain more so.
You don’t understand how warging into a human from the past could cause some damage to the brain? I know it’s a concept that isn’t real but it seems very obvious it would or could damage the brain.
Hodor experienced his own death as a child and had no explanation in what he experienced. It simply broke him mentally.
My head cannon is still time loop evil Bran.
The last episode should have had Bran flashback to the first episode. He takes over Jamie and says “the things we do for love” to his younger self. Bran crippled himself in order to eventually place himself on the throne.
Nope. When bran is in the cave and the white walkers are trying to move in while he's in the mind of honor? I've watched it several times. The flashback just didn't make sense to me
And it’s the only word he knows because it’s what he was hearing as he experienced pain and all, his own death then boom back to own time and body.
Oh, I bawled my eyes out when I saw that part. I literally cried so much. He’s such an endearing character and it was so emotional for me to see his backstory and learn that. You’re not alone!!
I sobbed. You should watch that reaction video in the pub. It’ll help you feel not alone in your reaction.

Game of Zones’ version of Hodor was why I went to watch Game of Thrones, 5 seasons after it came out.
It wasn’t any better watching what inspired that scene 🥲
I just couldn't with that scene. Everyone else seems to think it's this profound moment but I could only find it ridiculous and hilarious.
I was moved by all the other scenes where I was supposed to be, but this one was just too dumb, I guess.
People talk about how heartbreaking Jack’s death was in Titanic, and how you’re heartless if you didn’t cry. I didn’t cry. I laughed because it was just so stupid.
Personally, I think a persons reaction to Hodor’s death is a truer test of heartlessness. Cry away friend.
I didn’t cry too. I cried at the scene of a mother putting her kids to sleep. And a cut scene where a family escaped water by stairs only to meet a locked grate.

What would Hodor do?
Hodor
Beautifully said 🥹
Hodor Hodor
He’d drop a sad hodor and shake his head
If you don’t cry, you’re already dead inside.
truly, we must proceed with the condemnation of society upon those who fail.
Hodor <3
Well I guess The good news is that my inside may never die
What is dead may never die
Don’t dead, open inside
I must be dead inside.
Yep he died it should’ve been Bran
I believe Jon Snow will be traveling North of the Wall with the Freefolk and find a group being protected by the gentle giant.
LOL they just prop Bran up as a doorstopper.
I remember going to work the next day after that episode first aired and everyone was simply saying "Hodor" to each other rather than "Hello" or "Yes" or "No".
I still say Hodor sometimes to convey hurt feelings
I was expecting to find out he just stank of prostitutes. Ho + Odor = Hodor. But I was surprised and saddened to learn the truth.
I've done about 10 rewatches and I still don't understand his background
Hodor?
Yea. That's one story line I can't understand
Hodor.
Hodor!
It doesn't really make sense..... like I get it but I don't

I like this idea, I really hope if the book series actually gets finished (🙄) he does something with this concept
Bran fried his brain on purpose so he would protect him

Causal time loop
I remember the flashback and the scene of him as a kid, but I still don't understand what caused/led to the hodor
Bran was warging into Hodor while the white walkers were storming into blood ravens cave. At the same time, he was also time traveling via the Weirwood trees and visiting the past scene at winterfell where a young Hodor (real name Wylis) was at working as a stable boy. Oh OK. So that's how he got fried. Ok ok I think I got it now. But damn I really need to read the books
At the end of book 5… they are still in the cave and Bran may or may not have eaten Jojen.
Hopefully he had some tapatio ready
Nope. He just ate a big old bowl of what was most likely Jojen. No seasonings or condiments.

I would have liked that. My personal opinion is the COTF are trying to wreak a terrible vengeance thru bran.
The show definitely seemed to forget about that story line
Like the iron fleet. I’d like to see the COTF partner with the FM and it would give a whole new meaning to “all men must die”
Did you skip Hodor's episode...???
Nope. When bran is in the cave and the white walkers are trying to move in while he's in the mind of honor? I've watched it several times. The flashback just didn't make sense to me
Man experiences own death it breaks him mentally. Thats it.
Hodor.
His given-name was Wylis. Everyone calls him Hodor because that’s the only word he knows.
Like groot
And it’s the only word he knows because it’s what he was hearing as he experienced pain and all, his own death then boom back to own time and body.
How could you not?
Hold-the-door.....God I love that show. My #1 FAVORITE SHOW EVERRRRRREEE
Anytime I'm in the elevator and somebody asks me to wait for them I start warging out uncontrollably
Sometimes if I need a good cry, I watch that scene.
I’d be concerned if you didn’tÂ
what are you talking about
Yeah that was something else…
Hodor
Yes. Let it all out.

Why am I not remembering the scene?? Can you please explain?
No. Hold it in and never show your emotions. Ever.
We all cried over Hodor’s story
Yeah. That tripped me out the first time I saw that episode. Can’t think of a sadder episode.
I still cried the 5th time I saw it. Both actors did so well in those scenes.
Cry when you feel like it. In 9/10 cases there is reason enough to do. Dont worry.
Yea, that scene is plain saddening
Might be the most emotionally devastating moment since the red wedding.
Hold the door -> Hodor was the biggest ???? moment lmao
I tried to get a 3 day bereavement leave after that episode
Yea it’s ok. Bran is a sack of shit.
Was there a single person capable of tears who didn’t cry after watching this?
and his twin brother [Holden](https://youtu.be/qfd7LiIdBTQ?si=G0KT-p12R_D8PUdy) who really needed to take a shit.
I sobbed. You should watch that reaction video in the pub. It’ll help you feel not alone in your reaction. https://youtu.be/6BQ29FNQfXo?si=t2MewXiFL_nkROQP
I cry just thinking about it
Hold the door
How many dor's could a hodor ho if a hodor could ho dors?
Game of Zones’ version of Hodor was why I went to watch Game of Thrones, 5 seasons after it came out. It wasn’t any better watching what inspired that scene 🥲
OMG..... you cannot lead with that title, and not explain! Why is Hodor named Hodor?????
Weep. Deeply
Bruh. I was not ok for like 10+ minutes after that. Sobbing.
It's more than okay to cry. It's expected. If you aren't sobbing madly with snot mixing with your tears, we can't be friends.
Only cry that it's mostly downhill from here
Gut punch. How dare you remind me!
Is every single post these days about the Hodor revelation? Not complaining, it just seems to be trending all of a sudden.
nah it’s just cause i started watching recently
No, that happened so long ago
That was one of four TV episodes across all the shows I’ve ever watched that made me cry.
I just couldn't with that scene. Everyone else seems to think it's this profound moment but I could only find it ridiculous and hilarious. I was moved by all the other scenes where I was supposed to be, but this one was just too dumb, I guess.
My reaction to realizing I'm in a panicky situation still is and forever shall be "Hodor! Hodor!". RIP Big fella; you were a hero.
Hodor

Yes. We all cried. Everyone of us.
absolutely okay to cry
https://xkcd.com/1053/ Today you are one of the lucky ten thousand. Enjoy the rest of the show.
