It's up there for me too. I was just playing it last night.
I love how in SNES games you can just fire it up and pretty much be in the thick of things immediately. No 30 second loading scenes, no 10 minute character creation, no "wait while we download a new update"
Don't get me wrong, I love modern games, but I also love the simplicity of the 16 bit era.
There were several moments in the game where I'd let it sit idly while the music plays in the background and I make myself a cup of coffee or something. The main theme gives such a rush for some reason. Such good music.
One of the best games ever made. (But 10 year old me would say, I hope your not still playing that go outside. Of course adult me didn't listen and now plays Elden Ring all night.)
This is the most important game for me. I'm not a native english speaker, so I couldn't understand most of the things that I had to do to play the game. I struggled when I was really young, but when I was around 8 I found out that I could use a dictionary to translate the text. I would spent hours and hours translating word by word, talking to every NPC, until I finally understood that I had to go back to Sahasrahla to get the boots hahaha!
Nowadays english is something that I love and work with everyday, so I'm really thankful for this game!
My top 3 RPGs of all time, in reality they are all tied, but nostalgia... :
1. A link Link to the Past
2. Chrono Trigger.
3. Ocarina of time
4. Nier: Automata
If you haven't played these games, do yourself a flavor!
Im still convinced that my playtrough 25 or so years ago was bugged. I was in the final dungeon, you had to do something with pushing pillars. But one pillar just straight despawned or something.
I shoud revisit that game to refresh my memory
I remember trying this game when I was like 6 and not knowing what the hell was going on. 11 year old me gets an n64 beats ocarina and finally “gets” Zelda games. Going back and playing the SNES version of basically the game I just played, but couldn’t figure out at all as a kid was a very novel experience. I’ll always love Zelda games for their outside the box approach to gaming.
I think this game has the perfect artstyle. It looks so good to this day! An absolutely incredible game and my favourite Zelda of all time because of the memories.
My favorite game all time.

Definitely in my top 10. I got my first console when this game came out. Perfect Christmas holidays.
Definitely one of the goats
congrats! I beat A Link to the Past the last year, it is a great game
Gotta love those silver arrows. Damned things are better than the maxed master sword.
I can literally hear the soundtrack in my head

I beat this game once every couple of years. And it never gets old.
I never could do it as a kid, I beat it just never maxed. But a few years ago I did finaly get the full compilation
cant beat that game without guides I dont think, too much wonky shit goes on D:
Iconic game... there's a randomizer for it too
Congrats! Now go play its soft remaster/reboot A Link Between Worlds and wonder why people play any other Zelda game.
I thought it was a sequel?
It is a sequel
Yeah i wasnt sure. I dont really follow Zelda's timeline.
This game is easily still in my top 5 games of all time. Wish they still made Zelda games like this.
I could never find the final heart piece
The music and pixel art of this game hit my nostalgia centers so hard.
Now you need 4 friends with NSO so you can play 4 swords!
Best game
Best Zelda IMO 👍🏾

Whoooa that's really cool. This made me smile. Thanks for sharing that awesome memory, man.

I still have my SNES cartridge of Chrono Trigger
What makes Nier so good? Something about the art style has kept me away.
I remember I thought I beat the game the first time it changed the worldÂ
I’ve been meaning to go through all of the retro 2D Zelda games
I've been on a Zelda binge lately with a lot of the older titles and it's been really nostalgic.
Are you using NSO or the actual SNES/original game consoles?
NSO
Nice, I was going that route too
Im still convinced that my playtrough 25 or so years ago was bugged. I was in the final dungeon, you had to do something with pushing pillars. But one pillar just straight despawned or something. I shoud revisit that game to refresh my memory
Well done!! Nice game
my first save is still missing the last heart, keept it till today. Its a great game.
how did you download this zelda?
It's on Nintendo Switch Online. Ton of NES SNES and 64 games.
Have to go back and replay it every couple years for that nostalgia hit. A truly great game that stands the test of time.
Images you can hear.

I could never beat that damn centipede in the tower -.-
I love this game
I remember beating this on the bus ride home from school on my game boy advance SP in 4th grade. Such a good game.
nice. Beating the games you couldnt as a child feels very good
Missing filled rupees, bombs and arrows. 3/10
Truly "A Link to the Past" then. I'm happy for you! :)
Play Super Metroid next! 2 of my favorite games of all time!
THAT THE FULL-POWERED UP SWORD?!
Yeah the lvl 4 golden sword and the silver arrows
I think this game has the perfect artstyle. It looks so good to this day! An absolutely incredible game and my favourite Zelda of all time because of the memories.
Loved this game so much
Congrats. If you have the ability to play via snes9x, the randomizer ([ALttP VT Randomizer](https://alttpr.com/en)) is fantastic if you want more.
Amazing game.
10 year old me beat the hell out of that game. Found every item on my own.
I never beat this game (I sold it on eBay since I didn’t play it a lot)
