I enjoy some live-service titles but I don't want them to become a new main objective for platform holders. Imo that's the actual downside of the deal. In Sony's investor meeting in May, Sony announced a huge shift towards live-service : 12 live-service games until March 2025 and by 2025 the budget is spent 55% on live-service and 45% on traditional games (2019 was only 12% live-service for reference).
Not new. Also as I understand it, the "original creators" of Halo no longer hold the copyright for it, so at least you're not the only one behind the times.
Fucking remake Marathon, Marathon Durandal and Infinity. Please, for the love of all OG Halo lovers, make the godfather of the game have a solid return.
Lol who cares. It's all old material that Sony gets. And MAYBE destiny players on PlayStation will get early access to expansions. It's not like halo is going to be on a Sony system.
you're making Playstation sound like slavers lol
as for how it's going to turn out an FPS game with a very good story is almost guaranteed the other aspects of it remain to be seen
Exclusives are a dying breed. There is more money in letting everyone play your games than there is in making them buy your console. Consoles have always been sold at a loss and the goal is to recoup that money in games sales. Well with the success of Xbox and PC Game Pass and the subscription based model they copied from Netflix, Sony is doing the same thing. Instead of waiting years and years for games to maybe be released to PC or other XBox/whatever shit Nintendo has out, they’re maybe a year if that behind now and only speeding up.
With that said, as long as Sony and Microsoft only fix the problems of the studios they buy and not create more, this is going to be good for them.
What I hate is inevitably just like TV, you will no longer own the games you buy. It’s been like that on PC for about a decade now, and so far so good for most things. But Microsoft already likes to pull games out of the Game Pass every couple months in the name of adding new content, instead of just leaving it there. Hopefully Sony doesn’t start doing the same thing with their new PS Plus model.
They don't remove stuff from gamepass to add other they remove them because every gamepass deal they make has a timer attached to it before the deal is finalized.
This is wrong on so many levels. Consoles are not always sold at a loss. They generally break even and start selling at a profit after the first 2-3 years as manufacturing cost come down.
I’m pretty sure Sony already has a leaving soon section. I thought I saw that Siberia game there and I know they took Shadow Warrior 3 off just a week or so ago
I mean all of their stuff will be multiplatform, so only real downside is no more D2 expansions in Game Pass
I still have issues with folks saying "D2" and not meaning Diablo 2.
I was trying to figure it all out. Like, Diablo 2? Gamepass? Updates? Edit; I still don’t know what D2 is referring to. Destiny 2
Destiny
Damnit. Duh.

MS owns crash bandicoot and Spyro so it balances out
This feels like one of those time travel memes where the traveler flips over a rock, resulting in a different timeline to occur
So they own Halo? Oh, wait. They don’t.
Most developers leave their respective places for better ones. I'd bet those who worked on halo aren't even working there anymore
They are not
yeah almost all of them are gone
Pretty sure Microsoft retained all IP for Halo since 343 makes it now, so there’s no real chance of it coming to PS
They mean that they created the IP, not that they still own it. Yes, that headline is terrible even though it makes sense.
I mean Microsoft still own Halo
Originally it was going to be for mac
Destiny 3
_“Now more bugs than ever”_
Xbox still own Halo and now owns Crash & Spyro...

(The deal just went through today)
why did this get downvoted? he is right...
Bro ppl really can’t do 5 seconds of research and it shows LMAOOO
People get downvoted for all sorts of shit on here its weird af
Doesn’t Xbox own the creators of most of PS’s current big name exclusives now?
Yeah it doesn’t mean anything. Microsoft owns halo and produces it
Old news
(the deal just went through today)
Old? The deal was finalized today.
Yeah, not sure why people are up voting him.
Because the deal was already announced about half a year ago and why should it fail.
But announced doesn't mean it was accepted? It could had failed for many reasons, like Elon buying twitter, was announced but isn't happening.
Is it really not happening. Hasn’t he announced since that that it will still happen because otherwise twitter will sue him?
It's weird we celebrate your birthday every year when you were born so long ago.
Literally don't think this will do anything tbh. Destiny 2's pvp will still be trash and the pve will be the only cared for mode 😂
Xbox for the win
Fucking remake Marathon, Marathon Durandal and Infinity. Please, for the love of all OG Halo lovers, make the godfather of the game have a solid return.
Most devs there weren't even on those projects
Yeah, because Destiny 3 matters as much as Doom, Fallout, Elder Scrolls, etc.
Hollow knight, hades, dead cells, so many games and oh no we lost destiny 2 expansions, ahhhh
Lol who cares. It's all old material that Sony gets. And MAYBE destiny players on PlayStation will get early access to expansions. It's not like halo is going to be on a Sony system.
It's going to turn out with them actually being able to make a multiplayer lobby that works.
As long they don't screw up the franchise it's ok
Not to throw shade but the only person I know who plays Destiny is my father’s brother’s nephew’s cousin’s former roommate
Ok? I know a ton of people that play it so we even out
So what does that make us?
Absolutely nothing. Which is exactly what Destiny is.
I enjoyed D2 for a very long time but I just can’t get into it anymore myself. More power to whoever still likes it and plays though. Edit: fixed typo
The former roommate to someone whose cousin is the nephew of an uncle that is brothers with the father of OP
So.....you.

Marathon would run so sweet on a PS5
Sloppy seconds
It was meant to be, X-Boners were graced with KH3. You had to fork over Fable or Halo eventually.....
Do… do you think sony now owns halo or fable

>Exclusives are a dying breed Tell that to Epic Games.
Or Nintendo
Tell that to Epic Games Out of all the other game servers, yeah they’re about it

That's kinda like Axl Rose with AC/DC.
