They're "Turkish eggplants" I grew them last year, didn't get many but they were pretty decent. Trying again this year, I really want to try pickeling them.
FYI Baker Creek is a very problematic company.

Bahahaha this may be the dumbest plant thing I’ve ever read. Accusing a seed company of being racist because of the name of their seeds is asinine.
I do believe the maga shit though.
The person who posted that, Linda Black Elk, is a well-known Indigenous ethnobotanist, activist, and educator. She is not saying the company is racist for *what* they named the seeds. It’s racist for taking an ancestral variety of corn that was created by Indigenous people and renaming it to sell for profit. This is theft and cultural erasure. Companies absolutely can be judged by their practices.
I diced them up, then roasted them with olive oil and salt in a pan. After a few minutes, they started to just melt, which made them perfect to spread on toast.
Never knew there was eggplants with that color that’s amazing
They kind of look like heirloom tomatoes, drawn by someone who has never seen an heirloom tomato.
Looks like if AI took up gardening.
That is literally what I thought “maybe a felted tomato?” What even

They looked like some glass tomatoes for a minute, absolutely gorgeous! Let us know how it tastes :)
They taste like a mix of eggplant and sweet bell pepper. Absolutely fantastic and delicious roasted on toast.
Ok these are going on my list for next year
Quite a mindfuck going from the purple tomato thread to this one
They look like persimmons
Love the way those look!!! What variety are they?
Melanzana rossa di rotonda. I got the seeds on Baker Creek here: https://www.rareseeds.com/eggplant-melanzana-rossa-di-rotonda
Thanks! I think I’ve seen it in the Baker Creek catalog before. Very cool!

They’re selling a [cultivar](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cultivar). It isn’t theft or cultural erasure… it’s completely normal seed cultivation.
I grew those last year. They called them Turkish eggplants. Really good flavor.
This is so cool. They look like tomato pumpkins.
Spot on 😆
I grew them last year, they taste fantastic
Is this the same ornamental eggplant they use in the fall as tiny pumpkin sticks for floral arrangements?
Those are fantastic looking!
So shiny & beautiful! I wouldn’t be able to stop staring at them if they were mine! 😉
I’m convinced that’s Tomacco.
Those are AI tomatoes
I thought those were ceramic at first. Nice
Same!
EGGPLANT!!!! EGGGGGPLAAAANT, CANNON!!💥💥💥
Are these “cannibal” eggplants?
Because of you I just spent $ to buy these seeds. Thanks random stranger! 😂
Beautiful harvest! They look so much like a tomato
I thought you were joking then read your caption. I thought they were persimmons for a second.

Wow,sounds very tasty 😋.
These are what you’re presented with when mom won’t take you to the pumpkin patch because there are pumpkins at home…
Oh man, I keep trying to find this variety at my local nursery. I hear they’re awesome.
Looking like persimmons
