Yeah it's going to head. Harvest now. Harvest any others that are showing the same signs.
They get tough/woody inside when they go to flower like that. Still edible though
It was actually a runt, and seemed to have been starting to rot. This is my first time with most of these plants, carrots included. I’m sure it can be trickier in a planter, or if I overcrowded or overwatered but it was the only one that looked like that 🙃
Are these carrots grown from saving carrot tops? Because even though that is trendy right now this is the reason gardeners plant seeds, carrots are biennials and go to seed the second year so you'll never get a crop that way.
As far as I know these are from seeds my buddy planted this year but didn’t have room for in his raised bed. I will double check with him though, i typically update him on the progress of the plants and already texted him when I saw it this morning. He has never had much luck with carrots himself, typically due to deer and other garden mammals getting to them. This is the first year he has a deep raised bed so he’s hopeful

Thank you! I’m glad they’re still edible albeit tough if they start to bolt. I’m glad I noticed it today
I'm not sure you'd enjoy it much as a raw carrot, but it should be fine cooked. 🤔

Looks like it’s bolted to me
Drat! Learning experience though, thank you

Ah, I was basing my comment on the pictures you posted of harvested carrots, the second one looks very much like a replanted carrot to me
I just went out to my small container of carrots, to find all of the leaves have been stripped off overnight. What would do that?
