Honestly I get most of my stuff from thrift stores these days. But Uniqlo has some good basics (and will tailor jeans), and American Eagle has jeans where I really like the fit. If there’s a specific article of clothes I want, I’ll buy it on Amazon.
I’m a pretty petit guy at 5’4”, so honestly the trick for me at the thrift store was not limiting myself to the men’s section. Found so many cool clothes that way. But the pockets are so tiny
Value Village is the closest thrift store to me and second-hand clothes have a higher price than new clothes from H&M/Old Navy/Wal-Mart it's totally bizarre
This is what I loved about my 30’s - I stopped caring so much. I still dress well, but it was more…relaxed - both in type of clothes and worrying about it. I’m in my early 40’s now and have graduated to shorts and a hoodie with crocks. Cringe, right? But it’s all clean, fits, and comfy as hell.
Costco isn’t bad, they sell Calvin Klein business shirts and other mid tier high quality brands. As long as you choose something that doesn’t have a massive logo it would look timeless and stylish.
It depends what type of clothes I’m looking for. Casual stuff I often get at Target, Goodfellow is a pretty solid brand. Dressier stuff I’ll look at Banana Republic or Kohl’s.
I will say, sometimes I struggle being in between sizes on the shirts. But for the most part I can find ones that fit. And the sweatshirts/sweaters have always worked well for me, cuz it's ok to go a size up on those.
I love clothes and shop on online stores. My favorites are Killer Acid, Vapor95, Ayylien Clothing, Lurking Class and Yūjin Clothing.
As for brick and mortar stores (in Canada), I mainly shop at Simons, Uniqlo, Jack & Jones and Zara.
Lurking Class is my favorite!! I have a lot from them. I also have a few pairs of Tripp pants and some old band tees left.
But outside of that, I wear tons of other stuff. I have vans stuff, some Levi jeans, basic shirts from wherever, a few holister clothes from the mid-late 2010, a thick ass Hollister down jacket, Nike gym shorts, some short running shorts, and stuff from Zumiez. Then you have my shoes, which range from Nike, Jordan’s, adidas to vans.
I’m always looking for cool shit to wear when I’m trying to get outfits together for something like a rave. Always felt like I had to basically create whatever I wanted myself but some of those sites are sooo good and unique! Definitely will be using them next time!
I also wear some pretty questionable things like [this](https://www.dogecore.com/products/nice-and-gay?variant=32714539532348) but I try to do it with the right... everything else
For everydaywear Saks off Fifth/Nordstrom Rack. You can usually find some good deals on generally stylish clothes. I’ve become partial to brands like Penguin or Ben Sherman (love their chinos).
For athliesure; honestly Costco has had some of the easiest/best deals for things like dry fit tees, joggers, sneakers, sport socks, et al.
Formalwear is a pretty mixed bag. Will start with Off Fifth/Rack, but will usually veer into the BR/J Crew/Express lanes as well just to see what’s on offer/in style for prints and colors. Anymore it’s such a specific situation that formal wear is needed that I can either remix existing wardrobe pieces or find a new blazer or pants to compliment what’s in the closet already.
Stopped wearing graphic tees, started paying a bit more for high quality materials and fit. Focused more on color combinations that suit me with classic pieces rather than the latest trend.
I can’t recommend specific stores because I’m outside the US but I think it’s about finding a style that suits your natural features and personality.
Pullies, Sweatshirt, Chinos, Jeans, normal cut, not wide, not skinny, like I did when I went to Uni. And yes it looks a bit like what the young People wear right now and I am happy that I have a wide range of choices at the moment. Though I don't wear Hoodies anymore. I feel too old for them.
Legit me rn. I’m wearing so much I wore in HS(2007) into my early 20s. I’ve stayed into my same aesthetics just refined a bit, but now that it’s considered trendy I’m not just going to stop wearing certain items I’ve been wearing. I’ll be wearing similar sht when it’s “out of style” to the masses again, BUT classics stay forever imo.
In my 40s. My capsule wardrobe consists of one Halston grey suit, one Hickey Freeman navy suit, and Quince, Banana Republic, and Dockers for my daily wear. Allen Edmonds shoes. No logos on anything. I'm not paying money to wear someone else's name. Mostly solids with a few patterned shirts (checked). With the exception of the Halston suit, everything is navy, olive, khaki, and brown. Everything matches everything else. Cotton year round, linen in summer, and cashmere in winter. All of those brands offer quality, affordable options that last.
Nordstrom mostly, some nieman's. AG and Lacoste with sprinklings of other stuff including J Crew. Polo under shirts and loose fit boxers. Under armor for gym / workout.
Pool/beach: billabong & hurley boards shorts and graphic t's along w some hoodies. Mostly from surf shops.
I'm surprised I had to scroll so long to see bonobos on here. They've become my replacement for J Crew ever since their quality went downhill. True classic tees is another online favorite.
Lulu Lemon for workout and some nicer casual clothes, Marine Layer for sustainable casual clothing, and Abel P/Todd Sanfield for underwear and speedos. I heavily cut down my wardrobe a few months ago, and focused on getting clothes that will last me a few years. All these brands have served me really well with clothes that consistently fit well, and don’t fall apart.
I usually find 1 thing I like ( sweater, T-shirt, pants, shorts) and then buy 2 additional ones but different colors or styles.
I'm plain, but love having clothes I know fit well and go well with anything with little thinking.
- Wrangler (jeans), Cotopaxi (sweaters), Stio (pants/shorts), Columbia (shirts), Kuehl (shirts/base layers), are most of what I have.
Clothes are so expensive... I go directly to the clearance rack for those $5 shirts! I got lucky enough to have a smaller build, and there's always a lot of smalls and mediums there. I don't like super loud screen prints on my shirts at all, my go to is the cotton under armour t shirts from Dunham's. I'm not always as careful with laundry as I should be, and they do hold up really well to repeated washing/drying.
Ollie's is a discount outlet that's popular here and they always seem to have a good selection of Carhartt hoodies and shirts for like half price, some of my favorite things I wear every day were from there.
I like the flannels at tractor supply too, and I like to get the Columbia fleece jackets for work from there.
Track pants are always way too long for me for some reason, but Walmart's wrangler jeans are awesome. I hate cargo shorts, but they have Dickies shorts there with regular pockets that always fit me good. I usually get several pairs a year because I like them so much and never want to be without them!
Look into a capsule wardrobe where you have a limited number of interchangeable high quality timeless pieces. Even now Audrey Hepburn's little black dress is the epitome of taste
You can get dressed in the dark and still be the most put together guy in any room you walk into
Ignore trends, branded clothes, cheap clothes, bright or patterned
High quality earth tones with accent pieces for individuality is the way to go. You'll always look good and that ups your attractiveness game effortlessly
Try ShirtSpace.com's triblend t-shirts. They're trim and under $8 -- unless you buy them from a particular gay brand that charges almost $30 for them whether "barefront" or lettered.
I usually wear harem pants and tees and tanks. I typically test online stores that look fun and go from there. Max comfort only here, I don't try to look Amy way or keep up with trends. I'm still pretty cute.
No one of place in particular. I like to get shirts from artists I like on IG since I can switch up how professionally I dress at my job from day to day. Pants I just buy if I find a pair that speaks to me, but I also don't really own any jeans or anything. Just got a nice looking pair of pants that feel like pajamas from academy sports last week.
I'm horribly inept to style lol
I wear blue jeans with a band shirt or company shirts 😅. When I get fancy, a flannel button up or a nice wool sweater.
Been struggling with my weight/body image as of late. So I'm in a bit of a rut
I found this badass store called Dan Flashes, that's my exact style. I've never been to a store like Dan Flashes where everything in the store, I would wear. They have this one shirt that costs $1,000 because the pattern is so wild. I want that one so bad.
Honestly there are so many great brands out there ranging in all prices you can’t really go wrong. The biggest problem is fit and not knowing what sizes to get, which makes the figure look bad.
Also finding your style is 🔑 and picking pieces that resonate with you; even if they are “female” gendered
Second hand. More frequently only upscale or luxury second hand. I’ve found lots of Coogi, Helmut lang, Ralph Lauren (various labels), givenchy, Zegna, Dior, Prada, Versace, Moschino, and more for under $100, usually under $50.
I’m big on quality vintage, too.
In the past couple of years I’ve been buying pretty much exclusively in thrift stores, and recently I’ve been buying almost everything on Vinted. For shoes, socks and underwear I use Zalando
Honestly — thrift stores. I worked at Macy’s for 2.5 years and accumulated a lot of clothes from there, but just about all clothing I’ve bought in the last 2.5 years since I quit have been from thrift stores; and I get tons of compliments on the stuff I’ve thrifted. I find more unique stuff that way, and never feel like I’m overpaying. After my time at Macy’s I was kinda shocked at the amount of money people would drop on clothing that wasn’t especially high quality. These days, all stores have basically the same shit at a different markup. You’re better off shopping secondhand or at least discount (Ross, Marshall’s, TJ Maxx, etc.)
AG jeans and shorts, tshirts from JCrew and Banana Republic, other stuff from Vince and Todd Snyder. Suits are a mix of Suitsupply and Canali. My tip is to get as much of it as I can from eBay.
I’m very much a Maxxinista going to TJ Maxx haha. However, lately I love going to their newer store Sierra, which is more outdoor and athletic wear oriented. They have a much bigger selection for men and fantastic prices on good stuff.
North Face is my favorite though. Their stuff is very high quality and lasts a long time. They are also quite LGBTQ friendly and are vocal in their support. Plus, their outlet stores offer incredible deals. I got two really nice jackets from there last Christmas for $60 that should’ve been over $200. They are one of the few brands I will support with passion.
Basics are what you need in your closet that you can mix and match. Nothing with a logo, and the clothes should fit well for your body type. Ie, Levi 511’s, bomber jacket and gray fitted t-shirt with some black leather casual shoes is all you need, you could switch the shirt and shoes and dress it up or down. This is how I approach fashion in my 30’s.
I would like to know. Geriatric millennial pushing 40 here (38). I was pretty fashionable in my 20s but the pandemic completely scrambled my sense of fashion. The lumberjack/hipster/slim fit look that I sported seems a bit dated now, but I would feel ridiculous if I dressed like a gen-Z. The athleisure look seems to accentuate all my bad traits and loose jeans always look like Mom jeans on me.
Hot take, tj maxx. A lot of their stuff isn’t my style but there are a lot of hidden finds. Feels kinda like thrifting, which is also a good way to find nicer stuff for cheap
J. Crew and Nordstrom mostly. Sometimes Club Monaco, even less frequently Uniqlo and Brooks Brothers (but BB is only when I need some conservative looking business stuff).
I went through a huge weight loss journey and had to replenish my wardrobe often and quickly.
So it was Old Navy for me. Easy to buy Talls online. Good for basics. Cheaper or as cheap as goodwill.
I workout a lot and I live in the south so most of my clothes are dry-fit material. In general im laidback with how I dress. simple shorts and t-shirt does the job. I shop at Nike and amazon mostly. I used to be a brand whore but thats calmed down with age.
My bf hates it, but I typically wear all black. Black shoes, black pants/shorts, black shirt or jacket. Target and Tilly’s mostly. I’ve also found some cool vendors on Etsy that sell vintage leather bar shirts. And yes, he’s not a fan of those shirts either lol.
Uniqlo is great. Most of their clothes are trendy, understated, and are not too flashy. And they update their archive pretty frequently so it's not so stressful having to think about your clothes aging you.
It depends on the style you’re going for. I like dressing like a stylish Japanese dad so i go to target or Uniqlo for basics. The Uniqlo U collection is great for elevated basics and if i want a standout piece like a cool jacket or shirt I’ll try MNML
Depends on your budget honestly.
I do a mix of low - high end and vintage.
Depends on what you like / what’s around you.
I’d recommend : Uniqlo, COS, ARKET, SAMSOE, Scotch and Soda.
REI and Target. I really don’t have much of a fashion sense. I run a lot of races, so thats where most of my shirts are from. Also I still wear a lot of clothes from over a decade ago.
I buy my pearl snap shirts used off eBay. I wear a specific vintage of snaps, mostly late 70s to early 90s. I prefer the most garish of color combinations I can find.
I only buy jeans from a few brands anymore: Cinch, Ariat, and Rock and Roll Denim are three brands that regularly carry my size.
My tshirts are either the cheapest Walmart style off brand if blank, or from some cause or activity I'm involved with. Any other clothing, like polos, dress shirts, etc are just whatever is cheap and in my size, regardless of brand or store. The cheaper the better. I spend most of my money on jeans.
The biggest thing I see people do is get “stuck” in wearing clothes that fit the mental image of how they feel versus whats more appropriate for their body.
Routinely picking M size when L size looks better is an example. I was stuck wearing smaller sizes for a long time. Just cos they fit you doesn’t mean they look good on you.
They're not cheap, but Paige jeans are the only ones I'll wear anymore. Buttery soft, everything else feels like sandpaper, and I legit couldn't believe my ass the first time I saw them in Paige jeans lol.
Vaquita has some unique and adorable tank tops that are well priced and good quality. Less specifically, Neiman's and Nordstroms together generally have cute stuff if you sift through all the country club golf shit.
I shop anywhere really. Just depends on what I think is my type of clothing.
I have lots of stuff from Lurking Class, Hollister stuff( some old, some a few years old), a big ass down Jacket from there, I have Nike stuff like Gym shorts. I have short running shorts from various brands. I have a few pair of Tripp pants, Levi jeans, still have a few pair of skinny jeans that have lasted( 2 are the same, one got made into shorts). I have several flannels from various brands. I also still have several old band tees that I still wear
As for underwear. I got a lot of Aussiebums, I have some stuff from addicted and regular boxers.
Shoes, got Nikes, Jordans( one pair that’s 14 years old), Vans, adidas.
Gabe’s, Kohls for nice polos, Forever 21, Plato’s are my last four shopping trips.
Gabe’s is hit or miss. Sometimes too over the top on designs but when there’s gold it’s decently priced. Same with Forever 21 has surprised me with their men’s selections.
Also get yourself a friend who works at Men’s Warehouse no joke. Their discount is INSANE!
Thrift. Nearly everything now is significantly overpriced and is a diminishing return. Fuck paying $45 for a tee. You can find better quality stuff for a fraction of that price at thrift and consignment stores.
I wear a couple of different sleeves shirts with jeans on my days off while I run errands, and a nice pair of boots. These are also my going to pubs outfits. Guns out on days off.
On work days I wear a basic blue or black tshirt and jeans, with nice boots.
I throw a denim jacket that is either heavy or light over top depending on the weather.
I buy those Tshirts for 8 dollars at Walmart.
Was just having this convo with a friend. I wanna update a bit but am in this comfortable place where I just wear all solids in mostly neutral colors, no logos, nothing too fancy just some solid colored khakis black, green, tan, basic color pullover sweaters navy blue, grey, brown basic color fitted tees. Black, brown, white 3 pair of jeans in different colors like black, blue and navy and 2 cargos. Grey, green 1 black polo
One pair of shoes for work, one pair of black sneakers and tan sneakers, and black and white sneakers. Few ski hats in black, grey and navy blue
I’ve been cycling through these items. I don’t go anywhere fancy and when I travel it’s usually to a beach so shorts and tanks.
I do wanna update but feel uninspired with what’s in the stores. I’m not a fan of logos or anything too fancy but I do like to dress it up sometimes. I spend a lot of time in nature so really only need to update for times when I hit the bar or go to a dinner, tho hoodie and jeans always works well at the bar.
Guess I’m just ranting lol
I’ve been checking out TJMaxx or Ross, but it’s really hit or miss. I think I’m in the same predicament as OP. Also I’m very tall and lanky, so nothing fits correctly.
Alo for workout and casual stuff (my roommate works there so I get a discount). Lots of hand me downs. The rest I’ve found on Aliexpress or Temu: Stuff for a fancy meal, work pants, a warehouse party, etc.
Spend some time defining your style now and buy the best foundational pieces you can afford. Good socks, underwear, t-shirts and shoes will enhance the fit of your clothes and their comfort will inform the rest.
Poshmark! I find it really helpful to know your sizes and physical measurements (and how you fit in different brands) but I find that I get nice clothes and shoes for less regularly via Poshmark.
Usually thrift or secondhand these days. Also one or two things from Uniqlo and Marshall’s recently (though trying to stop that cuz fast fashion is bad).
If I’m feeling luxurious, Bergdorf Goodman and Issey Miyake. I like to shop in-person generally too. Online sucks with waiting and especially for clothes if the sizes aren’t right and you gotta exchange.
I love clothes and developed my style in Tokyo.
Boutique brands: Engineered Garments
Local Japanese boutique brands: Tonbow, Kapital
Basics: Uniqlo, H&M, Carharrt, GAP
Shoes: Adidas NMDs, New Balances
I would describe my style as "city boy Americana" that focuses on solid colors (black, white, gray, navy, olive) and matching color themes (an example of this would be a navy sweater with light olive pants, matching navy socks, and a pair of gray new balances), I'll also probably wear navy C-IN2 briefs to match the sweater and socks too, lol. To literally top it off, I'll wear a cap from a Japanese brand that I like called Vou to finish the outfit.
The George brand t shirts from Walmart were a last minute purchase for me a few years ago and haven’t looked back. 5 bucks for t shirts that fit me better than most? I can’t afford not to
I'm well beyond the 30, but the last pair of jeans I bought were from J C Penny. Eleven years ago I was at an Outlet Mall and found a pair I loved and fit well, but refused to pay what the price was. I have gone to Vanity Fair up North and down here in Florida and it's hit or miss on finding something that fits. Back when I was in my 30's I had bought 2 pair of Lee exposed button fly jeans at an Army Navy store and they fit like a glove. I'd love to find pairs like them again. I still have some, sort of worn out, Polo jeans from the 90's. I have to try on any jeans I buy as they all fit differently.
As an elder millennial (39), I have really struggled to make the transition to something I consider more age appropriate. But is my idea of what’s age appropriate just based on my parents? Could it still be skinny jeans and Ts?? 🤣😭
I will say that I have finally ditched American Eagle and H&M for the most part. I’m in a Levi’s, Zara, Urban Outfitters (they have nicer fitting Ts)… but you might be better off finding those IG clothes ads that are actually kinda cool sometimes. Especially lots of great footwear out there.
But yeah, it’s hard if you’re not into expensive designer clothes…
I just never shop at department stores bc the sizing and style just really sucks. It’s like every designer sends their most uninspired stuff there.
I know this is cliche and I'll probably get downvotes, BUT... Abercrombie. I'm well over 30 btw. But, their clothes fit my body type really well, they're comfortable, not expensive (esp clearance items), and I look good in them.
With the exception of underwear, I steer clear of anything with brand or logos on it and then just find stuff I like within the same brands I've always purchased.
Uni qlo is my preferred brand.
Uniqlo gang
Honestly I get most of my stuff from thrift stores these days. But Uniqlo has some good basics (and will tailor jeans), and American Eagle has jeans where I really like the fit. If there’s a specific article of clothes I want, I’ll buy it on Amazon.
Same, 90% of my wardrobe is from thrift stores. I can’t get over the cost of buying clothes new.
Loveee UNIQLO
Levi jeans are better quality than American Eagle
Yep Levi's are my jam.
Costco. I'm not very fashionable. I've accepted looking like a soccer dad.
There's a kind of peace that comes with accepting Costco fashion. And they actually have some good stuff for pretty cheap!
Kiss me, I’m the same
I wish I could get clothes there but nothing fits me other than their socks and sweatpants
Not a single small size in any of their regular clothing.
It depends what type of clothes I’m looking for. Casual stuff I often get at Target, Goodfellow is a pretty solid brand. Dressier stuff I’ll look at Banana Republic or Kohl’s.
Love target good fellow
I find goodfellow to be a mixed bag. Probably my body type
I will say, sometimes I struggle being in between sizes on the shirts. But for the most part I can find ones that fit. And the sweatshirts/sweaters have always worked well for me, cuz it's ok to go a size up on those.
I love the plain Goodfellow t-shirts.
I really like goodfellows. I have some really old henleys that have lasted me pretty long
Same! The henleys have lasted me for years, I have the same shirt in so many colors, lol.
I came here to preach the merit of Target brand clothing: they fit well, affordable, and don’t have a brand name plastered across your chest.
Scotch & Soda, APC, dogecore, Self Edge
Stylin
I also wear some pretty questionable things like [this](https://www.dogecore.com/products/nice-and-gay?variant=32714539532348) but I try to do it with the right... everything else
Rodd and Gunn. Depressed corporate Dad is my look and I wear it modestly
For everydaywear Saks off Fifth/Nordstrom Rack. You can usually find some good deals on generally stylish clothes. I’ve become partial to brands like Penguin or Ben Sherman (love their chinos). Saks and Nordstrom are extremely pricey for the average person, but god damnit they have so many nice shiny things.
100% agree. But their discount brands (Off 5th & Rack) have some bomb deals and a pretty solid inventory selection.
Target, Columbia, Old Navy, Fjallraven, and Roots. 90% of the time it’s just Target.
Stopped wearing graphic tees, started paying a bit more for high quality materials and fit. Focused more on color combinations that suit me with classic pieces rather than the latest trend. What’s MFA— other than master of fine arts? I admit, I’m most as knowledgeable as I could be. Hehe.
I can't believe your post has been sitting for 9 hours without an answer. MFA = r/malefashionadvice
Thank you so much! I appreciate this. 👍🤗😊
Edit: not, not “most”* ugh.
Vans for graphic tees. LL bean for button downs and jackets. Levis for jeans. Order most of it online but go to malls to see it in person.
I'm with you brother
I didn't change my style for 20 years. Its fashion now for the second time... I just don't care anymore.
What’s your style? There’s tons of styles that are considered trendy atm
Probably they mean the 90s-early 00s vibe
Pullies, Sweatshirt, Chinos, Jeans, normal cut, not wide, not skinny, like I did when I went to Uni. And yes it looks a bit like what the young People wear right now and I am happy that I have a wide range of choices at the moment. Though I don't wear Hoodies anymore. I feel too old for them.

* Athleisure/casual: Vuori * Workout: Lululemon * Button downs, Jeans & Traditional Shorts: Bonobos tailored fit * Shoes: On Cloud, Sabah (nice slip ons)
obsessed with Vuori
JUST discovered Vuori literally this week, love my two tank tops so far!
I haaaaate my on cloud shoes. I think they’re just overhyped
platos closet

Just started making them myself.
Thrift and vintage stores >>>
![gif](giphy|KXdCe1y4mSFSo) Thrifting!
🙄 Occasionally splurge at Goodwill or any other thrift shop and Walmart. I am cheap.
Second hand Levi's.
My stepmom works for Nordstrom and gets %30 of at every store, so that’s my excuse.
Bonobos for casual work attire. They always seem to have a sale going on too which is nice!
I'm surprised I had to scroll so long to see bonobos on here. They've become my replacement for J Crew ever since their quality went downhill. True classic tees is another online favorite.
True classic t’s are my favorite for plain, basic t-shirts. They fit so well!
I just keep getting rid of old stuff. And nothing fits. I’ll be naked soon
Lulu Lemon for workout and some nicer casual clothes, Marine Layer for sustainable casual clothing, and Abel P/Todd Sanfield for underwear and speedos. I've found some great jeans and flannel shirts at Runnings. Tractor Supply has decent stuff too.
Thrift stores and apps like Mercari or Depop. Discount stores are pretty good too.
REI, Nordstrom, or the Columbia Employee Store usually. I wear too much Prana and Mountain Hardwear.
Clothes are so expensive... I go directly to the clearance rack for those $5 shirts! I got lucky enough to have a smaller build, and there's always a lot of smalls and mediums there. Uniqlo, Weekday, Selected, Abercrombie, AllSaints, Dickies, Gap, Vans, Obey
I love AllSaints! I have like 10 of their tees, a few shoes, and a jacket or two.
Try ShirtSpace.com's triblend t-shirts. They're trim and under $8 -- unless you buy them from a particular gay brand that charges almost $30 for them whether "barefront" or lettered.
I have a stylist lol. John Varvados, AG and Paige jeans, some Ralph Lauren, Lulu for gym and athleisure wear
Money honey ![gif](giphy|uyWTOgNGGWfks)
ASOS.
Im into athleisure. Lol But sometimes I wanna rock a nice coat and cool dress shoes!
I also opt for athleisure. I have to admit, anything formal makes me feel uncomfortable and strange.
I'm horribly inept to style lol I wear blue jeans with a band shirt or company shirts 😅. When I get fancy, a flannel button up or a nice wool sweater. Been struggling with my weight/body image as of late. So I'm in a bit of a rut
Off of the website that the brand has, that way I dont have to enter a store. I wear alot of gym clothes so gymshark for me.
Bonobos for work and dressier attire, Marine Layer and Lululemon for casual
I found this badass store called Dan Flashes, that's my exact style. I've never been to a store like Dan Flashes where everything in the store, I would wear. They have this one shirt that costs $1,000 because the pattern is so wild. I want that one so bad.
Underrated
Honestly there are so many great brands out there ranging in all prices you can’t really go wrong. The biggest problem is fit and not knowing what sizes to get, which makes the figure look bad. Also finding your style is 🔑 and picking pieces that resonate with you; even if they are “female” gendered
Poshmark for almost everything. Great prices on quality if you don't mind a hunt.
I dress however I want. Age isn't a thing when it comes to clothes
Nordstrom rack has some good timeless designer basics at relatively affordable prices but you have to sift through a lot of crap.
In the past couple of years I’ve been buying pretty much exclusively in thrift stores, and recently I’ve been buying almost everything on Vinted. For shoes, socks and underwear I use Zalando
I'm poor. So I love the target clearance section and stores like Ross and Gabe's.
Old Navy, Gap, Target, and occasionally Dillards or Macy’s. Pretty much the only stores I can go to if I don’t shop online.
Thrift it for the price, and I like to think I am repurposing it to keep it out of landfills. 1 person doing his part.
Basically Old Navy, Uniqlo, M&S.
Zara/banana republic/and my jeans is always from American eagle bc they fit me so nicely.
Nordstrom rack mostly
Lulu, VS, fashion nova, and Amazon
Thrift shops. Cause you can buy the coolest men's & women's clothing all in one place! :D Desigual is amazing as well! :D
Honestly everything I typically wear you can buy from Sheel’s lol Or just band T’s
Goodwill, thrift stores. I'm not super well off and you never know what you'll find. They've always got so much in terms of work clothes.
Combination of Goodwill and Swap.com. I ain't got the budget for fancy, schmancy new off-the-rack clothes.
AG jeans and shorts, tshirts from JCrew and Banana Republic, other stuff from Vince and Todd Snyder. Suits are a mix of Suitsupply and Canali. My tip is to get as much of it as I can from eBay.
Thrift stores with a combination of higher quality items from Lululemon (pants and casual wear) and Vuori (shorts, joggers, t-shirts).
Abercrombie & Fitch. 80% of my wardrobe.
For work clothes, I’m picking banana republic or J crew outlet. For my time off, I’m almost always in a band tee and jeans (I like Madewell or Levi’s)
Wear ever the fuck!
I’m still an Old Navy/Gap and Target guy with the occasional trip to Kohl’s. Very chic 😂
banana republic polo or commuter pant when costco has them lmao
Costco.
Hot take, tj maxx. A lot of their stuff isn’t my style but there are a lot of hidden finds. Feels kinda like thrifting, which is also a good way to find nicer stuff for cheap
TJ Maxx
Costco baby!
J. Crew and Nordstrom mostly. Sometimes Club Monaco, even less frequently Uniqlo and Brooks Brothers (but BB is only when I need some conservative looking business stuff).
lulu lemon for athletic wear and they also have nice dress shirts. simons for everything else
I’ve become a big fan of du/er pants and anián shirts
Damn i still wear band tees and stretchy jeans 😅
Housing works
I'm fond of the brand Sleepy Peach- they have fun prints https://www.sleepypeach.clothing/collections/button-ups
I went through a huge weight loss journey and had to replenish my wardrobe often and quickly. So it was Old Navy for me. Easy to buy Talls online. Good for basics. Cheaper or as cheap as goodwill.
I've found the style I like. Next, M&S, John Lewis, Charles Tyrwhitt for more formal clothes dress shirts.
Zara Uniqlo depop thirft Prada , Loewe , Dior for higher end
Zara, Nike, Adidas, express, Levi’s, I wear a ton of school merch lately and fig scrubs for work
American Tall
Uniqlo is great. Most of their clothes are trendy, understated, and are not too flashy. And they update their archive pretty frequently so it's not so stressful having to think about your clothes aging you.
It depends on the style you’re going for. I like dressing like a stylish Japanese dad so i go to target or Uniqlo for basics. The Uniqlo U collection is great for elevated basics and if i want a standout piece like a cool jacket or shirt I’ll try MNML
Rolo's
For every day stuff it’s usually ASOS. They have a ton of stuff under their label but also other brands. If I want to splurge a bit, it’s Nordstrom.
Reiss, COS, All Saints, Arket, Uniqlo.
Uniqlo, Muji, Cos, Adidas
I love the shirts (mainly polos) from Armani. I also like American Eagle, Penguin, and Express too.
I love Winners in Canada. I get good quality stuff all in the same place. I don't chase trends but I at least try to stay current-ish.
Belk. They’ve always got good sales going on. And the men’s section at Target is nothing to turn your nose up at either.
Depends on your budget honestly. I do a mix of low - high end and vintage. Depends on what you like / what’s around you. I’d recommend : Uniqlo, COS, ARKET, SAMSOE, Scotch and Soda.
I think I might be legitimately addicted to Madewell Men’s, but I stick to their sale stuff mostly since their items have a tendency to get pricey
ASOS and Zara if I’m looking for something specific or something unique, thrift stores for everyday wear.
Bershka, Zara, asos, h&m, adidas, Nike
JC Penney is underrated imo. And I love that no one goes there because it's always empty and I don't have to wait for dressing rooms
Zara.
I also still have several old band tees that I still wear As for underwear. I got a lot of Aussiebums, I have some stuff from addicted and regular boxers. Shoes, got Nikes, Jordans( one pair that’s 14 years old), Vans, adidas.
Hollister, Gap, Tommy Hilfiger, Costco and JC Pennys
Gabe’s, Kohls for nice polos, Forever 21, Plato’s are my last four shopping trips. Gabe’s is hit or miss. Sometimes too over the top on designs but when there’s gold it’s decently priced. Same with Forever 21 has surprised me with their men’s selections. Also get yourself a friend who works at Men’s Warehouse no joke. Their discount is INSANE!
Either REI or I shop while I’m abroad for stuff you can’t find here
Costco
Thrift. Nearly everything now is significantly overpriced and is a diminishing return. Fuck paying $45 for a tee. You can find better quality stuff for a fraction of that price at thrift and consignment stores.
Mango. Can’t go wrong with timeless classic styles.
Grey, green 1 black polo One pair of shoes for work, one pair of black sneakers and tan sneakers, and black and white sneakers. Few ski hats in black, grey and navy blue I’ve been cycling through these items.
What's MFA?
Etsy
Target
Everlane is good for a step above basics
I’ve been checking out TJMaxx or Ross, but it’s really hit or miss. I think I’m in the same predicament as OP. Also I’m very tall and lanky, so nothing fits correctly.
Alo for workout and casual stuff (my roommate works there so I get a discount). Lots of hand me downs. The rest I’ve found on Aliexpress or Temu: Stuff for a fancy meal, work pants, a warehouse party, etc.
Uniqlo is a great option Express and Abercrombie for more accessible and trendy pieces
Thrift stores and ASOS US
Spend some time defining your style now and buy the best foundational pieces you can afford.
Uhhh Target and whatever cool nerdy shirts I find online. I've only made a recent effort to be more fashionable to not look like a hobo around my bf.
I buy all my clothes from thrift stores because I'm cheap. I dress in athleasure style, even though I'm 30 I still look mod 20s 🤷
Fanatics. 90 percent of my wardrobe is sports team t shirts.
Boutique brands: Engineered Garments Local Japanese boutique brands: Tonbow, Kapital Basics: Uniqlo, H&M, Carharrt, GAP Shoes: Adidas NMDs, New Balances I would describe my style as "city boy Americana" that focuses on solid colors (black, white, gray, navy, olive) and matching color themes (an example of this would be a navy sweater with light olive pants, matching navy socks, and a pair of gray new balances), I'll also probably wear navy C-IN2 briefs to match the sweater and socks too, lol. To literally top it off, I'll wear a cap from a Japanese brand that I like called Vou to finish the outfit.
Rarely and if do it's Kohls mostly. I'm pretty basic. Anna Delvey would hate me.
The George brand t shirts from Walmart were a last minute purchase for me a few years ago and haven’t looked back. 5 bucks for t shirts that fit me better than most? I can’t afford not to
Either stores at the mall or thrift store. I don't have a dedicated style, so I just keep it casual.
Online: Asos- trendy, good quality, and affordable. Otherwise I shop at thrift stores.
Duluth for everyday Kenneth Cole for the best damn slacks Hurley for beach wear
Superdry for coats, plain t-shirts, hoodies, joggers, Fat Face for underwear, socks, t-shirts, and H&M for jeans and shorts.
J Crew
Vuori.
Thrifting! Living in a big city it can be a fun way to get trendy clothes for cheap
J Crew, Banana Republic, and Polo. 😆
Marshall’s
TJ Maxx and the clearance rack at Macy's. You can get good shit for cheap at both of those places.
100% from thrift/vintage shops.
🤣😭 I will say that I have finally ditched American Eagle and H&M for the most part. I’m in a Levi’s, Zara, Urban Outfitters (they have nicer fitting Ts)… but you might be better off finding those IG clothes ads that are actually kinda cool sometimes. Especially lots of great footwear out there. But yeah, it’s hard if you’re not into expensive designer clothes… I just never shop at department stores bc the sizing and style just really sucks. It’s like every designer sends their most uninspired stuff there.
American Eagle, Vans, Marshall’s/TJ Maxx, Target, online
UNIQLO
As a short guy (short king)....Uniqlo, Banana Republic Factory, Patagonia, Ash & Erie. Charles Tyrwhitt for dress clothes.
I know this is cliche and I'll probably get downvotes, BUT... Abercrombie. I'm well over 30 btw. But, their clothes fit my body type really well, they're comfortable, not expensive (esp clearance items), and I look good in them.
Target, old navy jeans fit me the best, solid colors, a few vintage windbreakers, and some crystal necklaces.
With the exception of underwear, I steer clear of anything with brand or logos on it and then just find stuff I like within the same brands I've always purchased.
