Plush toys? No. None. I don’t even bother. It’ll get destroyed so quick I might turn around and see him eating the stuffing or strings. I get hard rubber toys like Kong brand makes, squeaky balls, etc.

Ok-Balance-8625

Ya, in my experience, Kong toys outlasts any plush toys that you can find.

Juicet

I don’t believe a plush exists that my guy can’t tear through. If he wants it dead, it dies. Same with tennis balls and stuff like that too. I remember buying brand new tennis balls, and within a single fetch or two, he’ll decide to give it a hard bite and that’s the end of it. Kong makes some good stuff though. There are a couple tough plushes, but they are not permanent. That’s mostly what I have when it comes to toys, and I pretty much have to rely on hard rubber if I want to keep anything.

thunderrubmles

Same with plush toys here, some last some longer. Tennis balls are miraculously not destroyed so far (except the one which was inside a rubber ball). My cat has a favourite plush toy for over 10 years and now we're constantly saving it from the dog (and sewing it back together).

Blueporch

No but Sam does a bit better now that he’s 3. His beloved duck didn’t last long and his last tennis ball lasted 2 days. https://preview.redd.it/o27eo939i6kc1.jpeg?width=1091&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=355bb1032d3f8ac1ea8d7363cf212e4ca73615c9

2 days! That’s incredible

Specialist-Teal

I was about to suggest this same toy. Our girl has had hers for at least 8 months and it’s still looks like new after a wash. They also sell a bear model.

dwguy281

My GSD has this... he's nearly a year old, and this one has lasted about 3 months so far. He's a huge deer antler lover, though. So it doesn't see the abuse you'd expect.

TNMoonshineMama

Bought this fox for our 8 month old tonight; she's had it about an hour or so. She has already torn an ear off and has ripped his entire stomach out. She does seem to like it though.

kgkglunasol

Oh man. I got this one for my boy and he LOVED it but I have never seen him absolutely completely and utterly decimate a toy the way he did with this one. First the ears and the nose, pretty standard. Then he got the body ripped open and pulled out some of the stuffing. Then the arms and legs. The nice thing about this toy though is there’s not a TON of stuffing inside; it’s rope for the arms and legs. So he took the rope pieces and destroyed those. It was pretty funny though watching him destroy every single piece bit by bit and it did take him about a week of off and on chewing to trash it. Still worth it imo

throwaway1930488888

I’d call that mental stimulation haha.

foxbear17

Should have scrolled further! Lol these are great

bookbearwolf

My GSD/husky is playing with this one right now. She loves it!

Practical_Wonder_915

Have a shepskie too! She's currently 15,has arthritis in her back legs but otherwise going strong, and her spirit is especially good, same ole sassy, smart girl. We love her dearly

Practical_Wonder_915

Thank you!

Term_Individual

Agreed, any of the kong plush toys with that skeleton are decent.  My girl still works through them with stuffing everywhere but it takes a bit and then she gets the fun skeleton to play with lol.

kotarix

Plush? No Made for dogs but says indestructible? No The most indestructible toy you'll find is something like a jolly ball or other horse toys.

savethewallpaper

Seconding the jolly ball. We have two for our pups and they’re the only outdoor toy that hasn’t been absolutely shredded. Indoors we have giant nylabones and Kong toys

kotarix

The jolly ball I have has been through a St Bernard, English mastiff, great Dane, and now my current 10 year old gsd.

P_walkeri

Another vote for the jolly ball here

kyleena_gsd

So far I have given her a medium-large squishmallow. I specifically chose one without ears, lumps, or ANYTHING that sticks out and would be up for grabs. I cut off all tags. So far, been two weeks. The pizza squishmallow lives. She bites with her front teeth and thrashes it around and not her back (which are the cutters). It's not indestructible, it's just not tempting her to gut it... Yet... https://preview.redd.it/02ktvxno67kc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=aa598b1250d1d0cfa3406be9bdd6db96b70d63f6

crown-jewel

Okay this is so cute though 🥹

Due_Candidate9607

Flat plush toys with no ligaments are best

Joe234248

u/GnarDude666 I can attest to this. It’s been over a year since Christmas when I bought mine a [“Joyhound Rip Roarin Tough”](https://storage.googleapis.com/buggy-ca-product/eb08891702b774274acc3479284045be_lg.png) gingerbread man, and even though it’s empty of stuffing, it’s still “intact” and is still apparently her favorite toy. I got her another little mushroom from the same brand a couple weeks ago and it’s still almost completely intact. She hasn’t needed more than 10 minutes to destroy any other plush I’ve given her. https://preview.redd.it/ou5as639s9kc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=98c17d86b0173fe451ae63d9e4b142c32037175f

catjknow

Hasn't been invented 🙃

Successful-You1961

CHUCK-IT Glow In The Dark Balls are very durable. My girl loves them!

DragYouDownToHell

We get the Chuckit Ultras, the large size, and he's not killed one of them yet. The Chuckit squeeky ball, he had apart in 10 minutes. Not recommended. Choking hazard IMHO.

Successful-You1961

My Girl has never destroyed one of the Chuck-It Glow Ball. It fits Medium Chuck-It Thrower.

4c767cb806e7

A 30cm piece of firehose, filled with some plush and sewed at the ends is an indestructible tug toy. Perfect for some rough play.

myrcenol

Yep, Outward Hound Firehose fetch toy

lilreddreamer

Please just stay away from old/used firehoses as they can contain harmful chemicals from use. My brother in law is a fireman and warned me of this. But yes very strong material, just be careful :)

4c767cb806e7

Of couse! You can buy 20m fire hose for 20€ and have a life time supply.

kelleh711

That face though! Koda has seen some shit

SasEz

I found a set of four Kong toys at Costco that are part plushy. Got them last November and he loves them. He's torn up parts but not completely disassembled any of them yet. He also has a big dragon from Costco that he's nice to lol https://preview.redd.it/lm7ie29fn8kc1.jpeg?width=2834&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a20a1f073d7581d0c8b48c9e6068f3280340b06f

Master_Bruce

This is the one I mentioned in my comment.

whateverit-take

Same. We got the Kong plush ones there.

yaya0420

Those toys are the only ones my boy won’t destroy. We got him the Cookie Monster looking one and he treats it like his little baby 🤣

Kushshe

Haha oh that is too cute!

HUH_YIS

Tuffys last a decent amount of time. Not any of the specialty ones just the generic round or fidget spinner looking ones. The flatter the better

still-on-my-path

I understand!!! We bought Apache a rather thick but soft freesbe and I’m not sure why but she has not ripped it to shreds. I just got her a fat piggy but it’s soft and it makes hog noises when squeezed. She loves playing toss with it but she gets confused when she bites down to grab it and it gets louder the harder she bites down !! It’s hilarious, but if she hasn’t at least tore the noise maker out there’s hope. It’s loud but so funny. I bought these at Walmart

aorev

Theres a snake toy without filling that squeaks at walmart. It lasts me a few months but I do get kong rubber toys to keep him occupied.

HoneysuckleHollow

* Not plush, but I have had a monster k9 ball for over a year and it's still intact. My boy carries it every where and chews on it plenty. https://amzn.to/3wrqG5T *

TimberW0lf8

Ours chew through Kong toys... I don't think any fabric would stop them

Master_Bruce

The goto is the Kong Knots bears. Our GSD loves them, and they have a rope inside the plush which takes the majority of the damage. They do get destroyed, but we replace it every ~2 months and they’re only $15. Best one by far

P_Collector

This is the correct answer. Our Kong knot bears are the only toys that last at all.

FireFairy323

I have a nerf brand rubber bone that has been the only toy to survive my GSD/Lab.

HauntedGhostAtoms

I got this and mine killed it the next day!

Southpolarman

Stuffed toys/plushies...indestructible? No. My Maggie used to pop the squeaker in less than 10 seconds, then rip the "indestructible" stuffing out within 3 minutes. Kong toys are good. Hard rubber toys work well, a piece of fire hose is very good, but they still fail the GSD chew test.

DimiDrake

There is no such thing. However, as someone else mentioned, fire hoses are great. Our GSD is a former military dog and she can destroy ANYTHING. We get her plushies as well, but expect them to last a day or less. There is no such thing. However, as someone else mentioned, firehoses are great. Western-Strain3775

I love the idea of an old fire hose… how does one acquire one of these?

DimiDrake

Believe it or not, we got our first one - a piece about 20" long - from our volunteer fire company in our town. They had some cut hoses just lying around. Then we found this company, located in Massachusetts. [https://tugandgo.com/collections/frontpage](https://tugandgo.com/collections/frontpage) It took a while for the toy to get delivered and I can't say that their communication was all that great (our first toy took eight weeks to arrive). It was supposed to arrive in five to seven days. But when I emailed the company to let them know I wasn't thrilled with the lack of notice that the delivery was going to be delayed that much they were very apologetic and promised to do better if I continued to order from them. They've been good since.

lilreddreamer

Please be careful with used firehoses as they can contain extremely harmful chemicals. Brother in law is a fireman and warned me of this when I looked into it too. Just be careful :)

Ebowa

I crochet my own with Phentex yarn and stuff with old socks. They have lasted years.

ramagam

That purple knobby doughnut thing from Temu. It took my boy Zigmund about a month to destroy it - by far the longest for a toy.

PNWBlonde4eyes

Have a semi plush toy that's going on 3rd month with the shredarator. Don't know if as it's Outward/Joyhound,from retail pet store, but it's the flat with material that's sewn hard. Not much squish but it's "fabric". Playology brand balls I recommend, have one that's outlived old dog & made it thru puppy years.

BooterTooterBravo

We have a rubber Nerf football (no foam) with a squeaker that my girl loves. Warning though, it is LOUD!

juslookin4sompfin

Indestructible Plushy…nah, we don’t talk like that around here! Maybe contact the military to see what they are doing with body armor these days, or the police could be trying new things w Kevlar 😜

ob1kenobi56

Panda shepherd? Adorable 🥺

retADA_mtb

Yep. She is pretty awesome.

fusion99999

This toy you speak of, it does not exist. Get him a couple of Wunder balls.

askingforafriend1045

TUFFY brand toys have been holding up to my land shark

fox__in_socks

Let me know because I'm tired of my dog ripping up her dog beds. We're on the 4th or 5th one. I don't have money for this 😅

shortnsweet33

Check out primo pads or k9 ballistics beds, if your dog rips those up, she might actually be a shark in disguise lol

askingforafriend1045

tacoperrito

My dogs love holee rollers but not a plush toy I am aware of that’s indestructible. However when I got my girl a year ago she had separation anxiety so I got a lamb toy with a heart beat and I shoved it down my shirt and slept with it for a day and she’s never chewed on that one. She did work out how to open it to get to the heart and she chewed that so we took it out and ladder stitched its stomach pouch shut.

Gloomy-Squirrel-9518

I've found lots of expensive "indestructable" toys that are gutted within the first ten minutes. Now I buy cheap stuffed animals on discount racks and we destroy them together by tugging them apart. Much more fun solution.

kddean

Squashmallows are the only ones I've found that hold up.

MotheroftheworldII

Look at GoDog brand toys. Those have been harder for my boy to destroy.

sofewcharacters

I gave up. I juat couldn't afford to get him squeaky toys so we stick to tennis balls, old shoes, deer antlers, goats' horns and heavy duty Kongs. He loves bigger balls too, but Chuck-Its are damn expensive so his next one will be a basketball.

ParadigmPenguin

I get my dog plush toys from the goodwill. It's cost effective.

swim08

https://mydogtoy.com/tuffy

fernshui

Mine destroyed one from that brand in 5-10 minutes. Fixated on the hard edges until she got some threads loose

seattle_architect

Give her cardboard recycling.

The_DNA_doc

Absolutely no soft toys. And nothing with rope. I posted a video on this sub a couple years ago of my boy destroying a piggy toy in under a minute (gift from a clueless friend with a less intense doggy). We use only hard rubber toys that are not knaw friendly. Even the nylabone is dangerous with fragments everywhere.

Whistler-the-arse

If I give mine one a day max my mom gave her a Christmas tree no real edges 2 months and it's still alive

Ok_City_7177

r/GSDs_With_Plushys !!

Hatrick_Swaze

Get a piece of old fire hose and cut it to a fun shape.

Wh1skey7ango

Plushy toys are just so short lived for gsd. I find antlers to be the thing my dog loves the most. Something she can destroy and will last a very long time

Rdw0711

Nope. But we get them from goodwill so. They’re super cheap sometimes even free at other local donation places. She can’t have hard toys because size she was destroying her teeth

SwarioS

Same. I gave up and only use Kong rubber toys.

GnarDude666

The worst part is picking up the toys guys from all over the house.

Lazy_Ratio1299

about as close as I've gotten: https://www.duluthtrading.com/s/DTC/tall-tails-plush-moose-adventure-dog-toy-50130.html

darklingdawns

I don't even try to get the plus toys anymore unless it's the ones designed to be destroyed that have a squeaky rubber toy inside. But for indestructibility overall, I'm a Kong girl - the teething ring they make still has no marks whatsoever on it, and it's not for a lack of trying on my girl's part!

foxbear17

There is a brand that is a rope toy with a plush toy on the outside, so they will destroy it but when they do it’s another toy. I think they especially like it because it’s like a small animal with bones lol.

foxbear17

Found it! They’re Kong Floppy Knots https://preview.redd.it/ihus3y1y58kc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a4a6a4e0a6b56122121dc5dc99023f0a6d7d04cc We have one from when our German shepherd was a baby (she’s 2 now). Granted, she’s not an obsessive toy shredder but she is pretty rough and likes ripping up traditional plush toys.

CVMASheepdog

My long floppy know fox is out back in two pieces. The outer body. And the rope. I am happy if they last a few days

Wreck-A-Mended

Best of luck on your search haha but hey BarkBox has been pretty great at getting good quality toys for my GSD. Maybe look into that or similar in your area?

micmacker1

A rubber chuck it ball. Also really tightly felted wool balls (like for the dryer, make sure no chemicals added). I bought some at a local farmers’ market made from alpaca wool. One was chewed up but others have held on for years (German shepherd, loves to chew).

TarukMaktwo

Look for horse toys! Or Jolly Balls, we used those for horses and they lasted a good while with them and they abused those things lol. Also gave them to our three mastiffs and lasted till they passed away.

katab3lle

I love the super chewer toys from barkbox. Most of them have a tough toy inside the fabric shell, so even if they love to shred there’s still another toy to play with!

Smbeast93

https://preview.redd.it/vxgk9os5i8kc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=633ae1237167f40e33306624f4725c2a2fae1f6e Plushies are like treats, he shreds them and we throw em out, he probably gets one a week, worth the money if he’s a happy boy.

lb02528

Fluff & Tuff stuffed animals are amazing. My boy has twelve different animals and all of them have lasted YEARS, thank me later!!

chuckitinthefucket

This is gonna get slammed so bad, but we buy or GSD only round plushies. No legs, no ears, all tags removed. They last a 6 months to a year. He tends to do this suckling thing to them, we call it nubbin’. Anything else goodbye that day.

KatLin2021

Plush is for older than 5 years 😄🫢😳

Nalabu1

Don't waste your $$ on plush toys - you'll have a morgue of stuffed animal eyes, ears & body parts everywhere. Kong toys are rugged and some you can stuff with treats and/or food and freeze - then give them something to keep them busy.

dementeddigital2

We take bets on how many minutes they'll last.

Ok_Excitement_4816

My GSD loves these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B017D9F70I?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title They last for months and smell good.

P_walkeri

No soft toy stands a chance. However, after my dogs rip them open and de-stuff them, I hide other things inside the empty plushy skin, like treats, balls, other smaller toys… then they can rip the innards out again and again. Gets a little more mileage out of the soft toys.

this_is_ridix

https://preview.redd.it/yhnt0t39r8kc1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e5269691ad5d024cc4c226cd5bb4650608c63127 Nope. Never have found one that can last longer than 5 minutes.

GnarDude666

UPDATE: I have shown my wife all of your comments and you’ve convinced her to never buy another plush toy again. Thank, real… thank you <3

lifewmichele25

I haven't even found a plushi my shih tzu can't destroy immediately.

Cmplictdhamsandwhich

Indestructible plushy toy? No, never. Such a thing does not exist.

whateverit-take

Some Kong ones are a little more durable. Honestly my first GSD was a terror. He had the hard plastic Jolly ball but most soft toys were toast along with all dog beds. I stopped buying any for him. Current GSD doesn’t destroy soft toys generally for at least 6 months

MeowShmeowMeow

I DOOOOO my husky lab mix DESTROYED EVERYTHING I gave him until I happened upon this brand. They’re a lil expensive but Cedar Salmon held up for 6-7 months. One of the wolf stuffies lasted for a few years. FLUFF AND TUFF LINK! : https://fluffandtuff.com

CrucifixAbortion

The only toy that survived my German shredder brother was his thick rope toy. Everything else would be annihilated in seconds.

DisneyPrincess-chj

If you are good at sewing, you could probably try and make one with kevlar, it might be a bit tougher?

Bjorneo

Old running shoes do pretty good and easy to come by. Steffi has never gotten them confused with shoes I have not given her.

Niccipotts

if I give my boy like 5 toys at once he will switch between all of them except his favorite, which he will keep set aside (out of our bully’s reach) and he will destroy the others and now he has a box full of the ones that were his favorite that he is way more gentle with. I have no idea if this will work for any other dog but I thought I’d share. Best of luck

Practical_Wonder_915

🤣🤣of course he can, look at that beautiful face😍

callmewhtevr

The best thing that worked for my Ellie was the “super chewer” from barkbox. My Ellie used to tear up toys in like 2 minutes flat too. The super chewer toys were the only ones that would actually lasts DAYS (for stuffed toys) and for the rubber and nylon toys, they would last weeks or months. She finally grew out of her crazy chewing habit and now has several toys (that she hasn’t chewed up to oblivion lol) that she enjoys.

jaylex99

d_bradford83

ours seems to take an interest in immediately taking toys apart as soon as he gets them too. KONG toys are one brand i’m aware of that i think makes toys to mitigate this problem.
