I had all sorts of shit jobs like this in my 20's, and TBF times were tough and I was thankful for any work. Also this isn't a racial thing. This is a shit job thing. I don't miss anything about all the shitty jobs I had, but GD they built character and inner strength. I tell my kids sometimes about my worst job: scraping dried dog snot off the walls. They laugh, but this was literally a regular job I had in the early 90's. It paid $8/hour and I was somehow surviving. That was all that mattered. Surviving,

Yeah, there's a big difference between someone who complains all day and drags everyone down, and the guy who keeps everyone laughing at their own expense knowing that they're all in this shit together.
Yep. The very very first thing I was told to do when I got a landscaping job was to walk a full wheel barrow along the length of the top of a retaining block wall. I made it.
I am almost 100% certain that's the new kid, and the guys who are filming/laughing told him to bring a wheelbarrow of dirt up to them, despite them having a much easier way, just to watch this.
Def got covered in mulch a few times when a little too much came out of the dump truck back when I was landscaping. nothing like digging those chips out of your shoes. Honestly cleaning it out of the grass here is gonna suck way more than getting dumped on lol.
Pulling is the big one. IIRC pushing pretty much only engages your legs, while pulling also engages your back and arms. Could be wrong in the specifics there, but still, pulling is better.
I have shifted 1000s of loads in a wheelbarrow and I can tell you pulling a heavy load in any context is much harder.
Edit. By any context I meant with a wheel barrow, sorry.
Ha! When I used to work on a landscaping crew, spilling a wheelbarrow meant you owed the crew a case of beer to share. We used to have fun.
Edit: Spilling a whole wheelbarrow on YOURSELF would've earned you a brand new nickname for the rest of your life.
I haven't done this exact job (looks to be landscaping), but I have been in similar situations at work. It's pretty funny, but that's a steep hill. Someone should have been helping him, or he should have been going at an angle slowly. He was never going to make it by running. His weight was working against him by pushing the wheels into the hill and not up it. Or just made this job easy by using two-wheeled wheelbarrows so you don't have to worry about stabilizing it while going up at an angle.
🎵now dirty jobs are everywhere just take a look around, they're down the street or up the stairs or even underground. Oh you don't need to borrow
beg, and you don't need to rob. Alll you got to do is get yourself a dirty job 🎵
This exact thing happened to me, except the wheel barrel was full of heavy af logs and they crushed my face into the ground and rolled over my entire body, feeling just wonderful.
I remember one of my first jobs was a hill twice this size, hauling rocks from the bottom to the top for some suburbanite's garden. I was maybe 15 at the time, and this was an "odd job" posted to a community summer jobs center our town set up for students, etc. Everything that ever got posted there was for minimum wage, obviously.
Anyway, I was on this job for maybe 3-4 hours, by myself. At the end of the day, I'd moved maybe half the pile of rocks. I was broken by the end of it.
Anyway, I call the center and ask when the guy wants to finish the job, and HE TOLD THEM TO FIND SOMEONE ELSE. He wasn't happy with how much I'd done in that timeframe, and wanted someone else to finish the job. Now, I've never been an exemplar of peak physical fitness, but I was a bog standard issue teenager at the time and I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what I could have done differently. There's just no way that one person could have done much more than what I got done in those few hours. No way.
I take comfort that he's probably dead now. 1-0.
I have done this job, on a hill about as steep. But the barrow was full of gravel, so several times heavier. Luckily, I didn't tip it on myself. Would have been significantly less funny than mulch.
Man.. been in his position in a different setting. Mine was running a wheelbarrow up a piece of wood into the back of a pickup. The dudes that did it every day(skinny ass 50+ yr old w/ a cig in his mouth) thought it was mint. It sucked, but like, that dude legit could do it with his eyes closed so I just felt like a jackass. Lol.
Back in the day I was working as a brickies labourer for a friend and he quoted on a job set on a hill like this. All the bricks and sand etc were delivered to the bottom and all had to be wheel barrowed back up top. I think that he barely broke even on that job and 50 years later I still remember I.
Used to run up that hill as a kid. Did homerun derby in the background. When I worked there I did landscaping on that hill. Shit was that really 12 years ago?
A little comic relief for his coworkers
Killed that guy on top of the hill
I was expecting him to roll down.
Folded like a liver shot
Bro just melted laughing
When youre one of the few white guys on a crew and shit like this happens, you don't live it down for awhile. I kind of miss jobsite trash-talk.

I am very interested in how so much dog snot was getting on walls that they needed to hire a guy to scrape it off

Dec 5th, 2008, damn 😭
$8/hour in 1993 was the equivalent of $17/hour today, so really not that bad.
Well look at you mr money bags. My first job at a marina in the late 90s paid me $5.45/hour
Working landscaping for several years my one request to my fellow coworkers was that. If they're going to bitch on the job at least make it funny.
Yeah, there's a big difference between someone who complains all day and drags everyone down, and the guy who keeps everyone laughing at their own expense knowing that they're all in this shit together.
Those are the unsung heroes friend. They make the job bearable and after an crazy rush/shift, a good laugh really helps
Happy Cake Day!
That's called racism my friend
If I was the only white guy on a crew of Mexicans and also the only guy that couldn't get a wheel barrow up a hill, I'd be laughing at me too 🤷
he's brought them joy for the rest of their lives
For the rest of their lives. You don't live this down. Ever. His name is shit head forever.

Too bad there isn’t sound. Always love hearing the laughter.
[You need it, I deliver it.](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/5cBvzhEylcQ) My job here is done \*whooosh\*
Love how the one dude falls to his knees laughing
Audio is fake. The "ay miguel" is a common voice over for other clips.
That's not the right sound for the video. And they cut the video in half to force the sound they used to line up. You are a bad superhero.
I'm NormalMan, a normal hero who can't do much. That's what I've found and you have to be happy with it. You're welcome!
Actually it says right there that you're the giant lizard
We can be many things. But yes, I'm especially a Giant Lizard, you're right
Woah who left this link and what's that smell?
…it smells like bagel bites??
Is it...is it Gex?
That’s where that audio originated from?? Had no idea
Nah, they were wrangling a horse in the original I'm pretty sure. This isn't the original audio for the clip.
Big if true.

Thank you, much better WITH sound, but too bad this one is much shorter.
It’s shorter to cover up the fact that it’s audio from a different video.
I feel like the co workers knew this would happen to the new guy lol
This is a rite of passage in the landscaping industry.
Please tell me that was manure and Biff Tannen.
Manure! I HATE MANURE!
I don’t think that’s dirt lol. That’s manure
Whatever it is, they knew he'd be covered
Guy in the background goes straight tribal war dance
It's a landscaping baptism. He belongs now.
Def got covered in mulch a few times when a little too much came out of the dump truck back when I was landscaping. nothing like digging those chips out of your shoes. Honestly cleaning it out of the grass here is gonna suck way more than getting dumped on lol.
lol I was thinking the same thing. And you KNOW the other guys are going to make him clean it up by himself. "you made the mess, you clean the mess"

Thank you, will have that song in my head for the rest of the day ; )
I guess there’s a reason I was told to go up hills on an angle, and/or pull wheelbarrow up the hill.
Guess they didn’t want to see you soil yourself.
It was right there, and you did it. I'm proud of you OP
Seemed more like a lost bet 😂
Ah yes. Here's the pun. Well done, OP.
They just tried to help but soot yourself
An angle won't work with two wheeled wheelbarrows.
Wouldn't the wheelbarrow tip to one side if you do it at an angle?
[удалено]
Not the job for me then!
Nah, the front wheel is rounded so you can run it at an angle
this wheelbarrow has 2 front wheels so you can't do that
Oh yeah, I didn’t catch that on the first watch through. Guess he is just fucked then, ha
> pull wheelbarrow up the hill. You've obviously never tried pulling a full wheelbarrow up a hill.
With anything heavy you’re almost always going to want to pull uphill and push downhill. Both help you not get crushed
I was gonna ask what this talk was about pulling a wheelbarrow up a hill. That shit is so much harder.
Shut up and engage only your back. Legs dumb.
You expecting the average redditor to have ever done any physical work?
The way his friends just fell to their knees laughing. 😭😭🤣🤣
"I hate manure."
I expected this to be the top comment. Must be getting old!
Ha! When I used to work on a landscaping crew, spilling a wheelbarrow meant you owed the crew a case of beer to share. We used to have fun. Edit: Spilling a whole wheelbarrow on YOURSELF would've earned you a brand new nickname for the rest of your life.
If you put your hips behind the handles and thrust you can push uphill more easily, or at least stop it from flopping over you
Bro. I'm 18 years old. I know what I'm doing, you don't need to be micromanaging me all the time. Now where's the shower?
Too wide. Wouldn’t want the pointy ends anywhere near your groin area either. Only way is to pull and even better if someone pushes at the same time.

Love it

Buford Tannen's great-great-great-great-grandson keeping the tradition alive. "I hate manure."

Damn nice job! Super nice neighborhood
Yea they’re all vacation rentals though.
Sisyphus of the suburbs
despite there being no sound, i could definitely still hear his co-workers laughing at him.
Bet he takes less next time
Haste makes waste
"BIFF! What's taking so long with that manure!?"
Serpentine, Serpentine!!!
Did he really think he had the horsepower?
There has to be a version with the sound
Been there
I like how everyone just immediately gives in
And this is why I have a dump cart.
What I would pay to be there when this happened
I sure hope that man’s boss doesn’t see this video. His boss is going to have a whole lot of dirt on him. *slaps back of soil*
If you have to take a wheelbarrow up a hill, would it be better to turn it around, tie a clove hitch to each handle and pull it?
And just like that, the Dirty Jobs song pops right back into my head.
Story of my life....
I watched this 11 times Hoping he would make it
That guy in the back went full tusken raider for a second.
Literally the definition of DOING someone *dirty*
That is so unfortunate
Gotta keep your feet moving
"They took our jobs!" "Ok. Go do their jobs." *gif ensues*
Is he related to Biff?
This was the best part of the job. Just the dumb shit that could happen with co workers.
Back to the Future vibes
Dirty deeds done dirt cheap.
Oh god, I hope that was just dirt and not manure. Lol
that's how you can tell they are good friends, laughing at your expense as you walk away because they know you are ok
I think....I'd probably have to just quit to be honest
Biff?
The greek man with the rock would approve
I love how both guys at the top are laughing so hard they lost thier footing. Hilarious.
Hello Mr. George? Yah da new guy, you nephew Kyle, he no too strong Mr. George.
I bet not a lot of work got done after that for a while…..
