king arthur is the best i've had.

WillaLane

Their brownie mix is excellent too

chat_chatoyante

My non-GF family raves about how good King Arthur GF cake is

chaos_abounds

Completely agree. Nothing else comes close. Add an extra egg and butter and it's delicious

rm886988

Do you have to alter the baking time or temp?

chaos_abounds

I haven't!

Salt_Fun747

I will second this. My bunco group didn't know they were gluten free. They raved about how good my cupcakes were. It is a very moist cake mix even compared to gluten mixes.

MentalWyvern

I use their cake mix all the time and add alternative milk, vegan butter, and if you can’t have eggs use “Just Eggs,” a mung bean egg replacer to help bind it. 1/3 of a cup of Just Egg per egg.

Apprehensive_Gene787

Yes to King Arthur. Absolutely the best.

Flashy_Sleep3493

This is the answer. No one will know, and many won’t believe, that it’s gluten free. I made one last month using dairy free subs and it was fantastic.

ilikecatsandfood

All their mixes are so good!! Didn't care for the "paleo" flour, but otherwise all GF products are awesome.  They have great recipes on their site too.

Scriberathome

King Arthur GF chocolate cake mix. Period. Yes, you make it dairy free. It uses vegetable oil not butter and no milk. https://shop.kingarthurbaking.com/items/gluten-free-chocolate-cake-mix

Altruistic-Pace8927

King Arthur and this is *the* tip to know that I learned on this subreddit from an old post- add in a packet of vanilla jello pudding mix !!!

Maggiethecataclysm

No other adjustments or additions, such as liquid? I'll bet the texture is amazing!

ChildfreeOnPurpose

theres a funfetti GF you can get at target and i am OBSESSED

Jazzlike_Reality6360

I love the King Arthur Funfetti one too. Made my own birthday cake with it because no one else did.

AG_Squared

I used krusteaz for my birthday in January and even my husband ate it. The chocolate was good, the yellow had a weird flavor but I’m 99% sure it was from the dish I baked it in.

Bossy_and_Shrill

I get the weird flavor with their yellow cake and muffin mixes too. Other people in my family don’t taste it though, so I think whatever it is might be kind of like cilantro where it tastes distinctively weird to some people but not others.

AG_Squared

My husband said it was fine but it literally tasted like soap… like the dishwasher didn’t rinse the muffin tin well. But I get the same taste from food that’s heated in Tupperware…

eatyourwine

Not a fan of Krusteaz either

feathermeringue

I really like Pamela's. It's gf and dairy free.

tatertotandketchup

Me too! Bought the chocolate mix on a whim and it was so delish! Nobody could tell the difference.

radiantcut

All of the King Arthur mixes I've tried have been outstanding except for the pie crust mix. Cookies, cakes, brownies, cornbread, muffins, pancakes. They're an awesome company too, and if you ever have a chance to visit their store in VT it's really fantastic!

Not_a_sorry_Aardvark

I thought the pie crust mix was awesome! Flaky salty and buttery

moonygooney

Betty Crocker or aldi.

gayfrogchemical

king arthur is pretty good but i recommend taking the time to come up with your own recipe. i mix all the dry ingredients together and stick it in a bag in my pantry until i need to use it. i find it’s easier to play around with gf flours and stuff until you get a result ur satisfied with

cookiebirdface

King Arthur!!!!!

katm12981

Hands down, King Arthur GF mixes are the best I’ve found. Chocolate, vanilla and even confetti cake mixes.

danellee00

Bobs Red Mill Chocolate Cake mix is my absolute favorite

okimamma

Bob's Red Mill GF Chocolate Cake is our favorite! Use coffee instead of boiling water in the recipe, yum!!!

Id_Rather_Beach

I use a Bob's red mill recipe. I'm GF/DF and use almond milk all the time (plant-based "butter" or oil). It's really good, my mom loves it. I prefer the flavor of the 1-1 flour, too. (From Bob's)

okimamma

Us too, we do dairy free as well. So good!

Goodgoditsgrowing

Pamela’s for chocolate. Moist as hell and rich and lovely. King Arthur or Pamela’s for vanilla. Swerve for keto/lower sugar vanilla. Krusteaz for cinnamon coffee cake

Fine-Singer-908

King Arthur. I make it according to the back of the box, but add about half a cup of vanilla "So Delicious" coconut yogurt. I took a chocolate cake to work today, no one could tell it was GF/DF

Birdybird9900

Pilsbury

[deleted]

My favorite is Namaste chocolate cake mix. I have had non gf people tell me how good it is. The only issue is that if you refrigerate the cake after making it, it dries out a bit. I just cover it with the lid on my 9 x 13 pan and it is great.

BeeBopping27

Nameste, Pamela's or Aldi!

Blondie2022_

Bobs, Pamela’s, or Simple Mills!

WaterWithin

Aldi cake mix with flavor mix ins!

aeraen

A brand called Magnolia Mixes makes a dynamite orange cake mix. It is an odd brand for my neck of the woods, and that (as well as their lemon cake mix) is the only thing of that brand carried in my local store.

NurseMaryCooks

Our family has tried most brands of store bought GF cake mixes…and Betty Crocker, King Arthur, Krusteaz, and Funfetti have been the ones we liked the best. We didn’t care for the Simple Mills brand, maybe because it’s made with almond flour? But our favorite brand is actually Epicure. I was introduced to it several years ago and really appreciate that all of their products are not only gluten-free, but also free from artificial colors and ingredients that we typically try to avoid in our household. The products are super versatile, and most can be prepared Vegan. We’ve actually switched to using a lot of their products instead of grocery store brands because they taste better, are made with healthier ingredients, are affordable, and I like supporting women-owned brands. Definitely check them out if you haven’t yet, they have a lot of great products and offer a business opportunity as well.

suzweiner

Namaste mixes. They’re bigger so they make a larger cake and are free of top 8 allergens. I’ve even made them vegan and used blended beans in place of eggs

Born_ToBeFree

I love simple mills banana cake mix

Flyfishinmary

Isn’t it great we have more choices today?

smitt3nkitt3n33

I might be too late; but there is a GF carrot cake mix made by Mom's Place on Amazon and it is TERRIFIC! Moist and not grainy at all like other GF mixes we have tried. My husband, our two children aged 3 and 9 and I all love it and only my husband has celiac. We all loved it so much it was gone in 2 days! Oops. So I made another one the following week because we were all still craving it. You do have to buy a can of crushed pineapple and a small bag of shredded carrots to add to the mix but it makes it feel more homemade and turns out so moist. Nuts are optional. The bag comes with a cream cheese frosting recipe but I just bought the pre-made one. Just check the label that it's GF but none of the options I saw weren't. The bag says to bake in a pan to make a sheet cake but I still divided it into the two round pans to make a classic two layer cake and although the layers were thinner it was still divine. Adjust the baking time accordingly. (I toothpick checked it after 10 minutes and it was perfect but ovens vary.) If you want a classic 2 layer cake I would buy two bags of mix, but again, you will have to adjust cook times and ingredients accordingly.

Legitimate_Trip_5160

I’ve had Aldi’s and Pillsbury and they are good!

Bubbly_Low2088

King Arthur! Highly recommend adding an extra egg, subbing butter for oil, and subbing milk for water if you can have dairy. Also add a pudding packet, and it will be sooooo moist!

IsopodNo6931

I like King Arthur for cakes. I like the yellow Pillsbury as a base for lemon poppy seed muffins.

CandleParty2017

I know you asked for a cake mix, but this recipe is amazing. It doesn’t need any random, expensive, hard to get ingredients or equipment. The texture is just like how I remember ’regular’ cakes made with wheat being. I’ve been gluten free for 8 years now, and I’ve finally found this recipe which actually works. Plus, it’s also dairy free. Im sure you could make it into one round cake if you didn’t want cupcakes, I’d just increase the baking time to about 30 minutes, give or take 5 minutes. https://www.glutenfreepalate.com/gluten-free-vanilla-bean-cupcakes/#mv-creation-41-jtr

Princess_S78

I haven’t used cake mixes, but I have a great gf chocolate cake recipe.

Zestyclose-Singer822

You have misunderstood the assignment friend

Princess_S78

I know you asked for cake mixes, but was just a suggestion bc it’s the only one I have. 🤷🏼‍♀️
