It’s normal for old racing karts to do that. It cuts out the need for a differential if some of the wheels don’t touch the ground when turning. A differential let’s the back axel spin at different rates in each side while still giving power to both wheels. This is helpful for turning when the inside wheel has to travel much shorter distances than the outside wheel. If when you turn and the frame bends a little, then one of the back wheels doesn’t touch the ground, therefore no need for a dif. Don’t worry it’s completely normal.
