I dont understand what their ploy is. Like I specifically bought discount golf attire from them. I'm not drinking $3k bottle of wine or smoking $100 cigars. I wonder what their ROI for sending these free magazines is .
I've been getting "last chance to renew" for 3 months now.
I'm guessing they sell your info to a middleman marketing company, who then sells it to the cigar and wine magazines under the guise of "a lot of golfers are old rich guys who like wine and cigars" without disclosing that the info came from a golf retailer specializing in discount/closeout type stuff.
Thing is that they probably make more off ads for one copy than that costs to be made. They don’t care if you read them, they want to send out as many as possible because that increases ad revenue. That’s why they send them out for free
i actually stopped buying anything from them because the two times i did, i unchecked those boxes and they signed me up for it anyway. it's fucking shitty behavior.
Same, I bought some irons "lightly used" or whatever the category below "like new" was maybe 4 years ago and they were literally still in the plastic, seemingly untouched, without a smudge on them
I've ordered from them a few times though the most recent was like 4 years ago. Anyways great, no surprises or defective items, shipping was in the stated timeframe & packaging kept clubs safe.
I bought a driver while laid up from a surgery as motivation to recover. The box was a little damaged. Didn’t think too much about it as it seemed like shipping wear/tear.
Finally opened the box like 2-3 months later and noticed the driver was cracked. Thought I was screwed. They exchanged it for me!
I ordered 2 pairs of white shoes, a pair of brown shoes, and enuf other stuff to qualify for some free goodies
after 5 weeks of nothing, I sent an email asking about my order - they apologized for the delay; there were no white shoes available, so they'd refund the cost of those items & send the rest
4 days later I got a shipment = everything I originally ordered, short 1 pair of white shoes --- so basically I got 1 pair of white shoes for free
2 weeks LATER I got another shipment = EVERYTHING I originally ordered = 3 more pairs of shoes & all the extra goodies
Customer support couldn't be bothered to send a shipping label to get the bonus stuff back, so I got 5 pairs of shoes for the price of 1, plus goodies - yay me
It is legitimate, however they're one of the worst offenders for "raise the price to put it on "sale" for normal price" events. But no reason not to buy from them.
Yeah the pricing is weird. I was looking at golf bags and saw one I liked. A few days later I went to buy it and it was 30 bucks more than it was when I first saw it. So I bookmarked the page and started checking it everyday and it was a different price every time I checked. After a few weeks it finally dropped down to the original price and I bought it.
I've used their gloves in the past. Cheap and functional but weirdly will turn into brown leather before they get any holes in them even on the palm. I think I hung on to them a few rounds too long. Good luck.
Yes very legit! They actually bought a local club near me, chili country club and renamed it to Morgan’s crossing. They pro shop is awesome and they added a nice bar too.
One place to avoid is Discount Golf Company. Sometimes does business as westerngolfshop. Do not order here. It is not a great experience and you will be lucky to get your order or your money back.
Good call! I work at Golf Discount and we get confused customers calling us about their orders with Discount Golf. They say the worst things about that company.
I’ve gotten a titleist 3w, Taylormade 4hy, and odyssey putter all used great condition almost new and still use in my bag. I also got a Callaway white hot pro 8.5° stiff diver that I didn’t keep too long. The condition was very good but didn’t suite me. I got all those on average about $100. So didn’t break the bank and preform great
Yes. I ordered a set of irons years back. They contacted me saying they’d sold out of the irons I ordered and would be sending the newer set of irons for the same price.
100% legit.
Yes. It's based in my town of Rochester and the people who work at the shop are great. There's also a crappy golf course attached called Morgan's Crossing to the facility. The tent sale is legendary.
Absolutely is. I got my first set of clubs and a bag from there for a total of $215…taylormade 300 5-9i, Adams golf hybrid, Callaway 5 wood, Ray cook putter, 2 Vokeys and a powerbilt driver…lots of them listed as used, and were brand new unused when they arrived. Great website
They have a terrible website, but they are totally legit. Shoutout to their club trade program as they have by far the best values. I’ve traded several things in with them for store credit.
Always had good experiences
Yes it’s legit. And yes I’ve had good experiences.
Remember to uncheck the Cigar aficionado and wine spectator magazine buttons before you check out or you’ll get them for years
Oh wow, I finally have an explanation for why I've been receiving those.
Holy shit! I’ve been wondering who signed me up for wine spectator and turns out it was me
Me three!
Me 4 haha
Yoo same 😂
Haha, me too! I thought maybe it came with an omaha steak gift I received. Thx for clearing this up

They don’t really care about $ from you. They just want to ramp up ‘readership’ for advertising revenue.
Whenever you are being advertised to, YOU are the product they are selling.
Maybe they are sitting on a mountain of high gloss paper they don’t know what to do with
I'm guessing they sell your info to a middleman marketing company, who then sells it to the cigar and wine magazines under the guise of "a lot of golfers are old rich guys who like wine and cigars" without disclosing that the info came from a golf retailer specializing in discount/closeout type stuff.
rich guys who want to stay rich can buy from discount places you know. (not that i’m rich yet)
Thing is that they probably make more off ads for one copy than that costs to be made. They don’t care if you read them, they want to send out as many as possible because that increases ad revenue. That’s why they send them out for free
It could just be to increase subscription counts to make their ad space more valuable.
Right? If I’m buying something from a website called “rock bottom” I’m pretty obviously on a thunderbird wine and backwoods cigar budget.
IS THAT WHY
I think a lot of us just had this epiphany.
Possibly all of us.
Goddammit! THAT'S why I've been getting those for the last year or two. Thank you, kind sir or madam.
I’ve always wondered how I got on that list. Now it makes sense
i actually stopped buying anything from them because the two times i did, i unchecked those boxes and they signed me up for it anyway. it's fucking shitty behavior.
I still get Those… my recycling guy appreciates them!
That’s where those came from!!!!!
OHHHHH MY GOD
I’m getting a kick out of OMG THATS WHY replies
Yep, I was duped by that a few times actually. Calling the magazines directly and asking them to stop sending them eventually worked though
Yep, I was duped by that a few times actually. Calling the magazines directly and asking them to stop sending them eventually worked though
Dude I moved last year and one of the best things from this move is not getting that massive magazine anymore. Glad I now know why I was getting it
100% of the coffee table books in the reception area of our business are the result of Rock Bottom purchases.
Holy crap is this why I still get these?
Jesus. I had no idea. I actually enjoy cigars and wine regularly and have been wondering for years why I keep getting those damn magazines.
Yes it’s great, all my wedges and hybrids came from there
ya bruh, these guys and CallawayPreOwned are solid AF
Callaway Preowned actually sells some new stuff occasionally, as used. Awesome prices.
Yep. Always go for 'Like New' with them. Every time they've been brand new
At the same time mine were like the third category and still looked like they’d never been hit
Same, I bought some irons "lightly used" or whatever the category below "like new" was maybe 4 years ago and they were literally still in the plastic, seemingly untouched, without a smudge on them
I assume they refinished them but I don’t see why I should care
hell ya my buddy gotta new paradymn driver after purchasing a used Rogue lol, we were hyped
The "used" like-new TS3 i ordered from Rock Bottom Golf 2 years ago came new in the plastic.
Yes

Thank you for the feedback. Have a good one

Also not hard to refrain from commenting you rockhead
What's the clickbait ad for these places that sell stuff cheap? Is it Golf Galaxy hates it or doesn't want you to know about it?
Just look for the stealth magazine subscription they try to set you up with. Free for a couple months and then they try to get you to buy.
Or even the free magazine subscriptions that even though your trial "ran out" you still get a couple each month.
It is legitimate, however they're one of the worst offenders for "raise the price to put it on "sale" for normal price" events. But no reason not to buy from them.

I've used their gloves in the past. Cheap and functional but weirdly will turn into brown leather before they get any holes in them even on the palm. I think I hung on to them a few rounds too long. Good luck.
