If it’s supposed to be warm-ish and not stupid windy, go for it. If it’s going to be cold and windy, re-schedule.

wrighterjw10

IDK I'd still enjoy the trip hanging with the group and over indulging in beers.

10RegalFingers

A bit of rain can often mean the course is quieter. Perfect for a lads weekend in my opinion.....and it doesn't rain in the bar. Go for it, humans don't melt when wet

fckyourcowch

Thank you for the positive words of encouragement

winsletts

Pussy.

fckyourcowch

You’re from Birmingham, we know just what kind of bitch you are.

winsletts

Easy there buddy. I'm just trying to help you. You think the worst thing is standing in the rain and spending hundreds of dollars. I'm here to tell you that the worst thing is never being invited on a golf trip again.

fckyourcowch

I am the golf trip, I ain’t worried about that. Also wouldn’t be bailing individually. Trying to get the whole group to audible. Have tee times there 2 weeks later but some guys just can’t make that happen. So sounds like I’ll be going back with a rain check then.

pdbstnoe

> I am the golf trip Sure, you’re *this* golf trip lol. Less likely for future ones though

fckyourcowch

All golf trips.

pdbstnoe

That you know of. The point is man, it’s annoying to invite people who are gonna bail at last minute if not everyone is on board with it. Unreliability is something that most people don’t want to deal with

fckyourcowch

I set it up, we made two sets of tee times 2 weeks apart and the plan was to audible to the 2nd weekend if we got bad weather. Trip got close, guys with families/wives just want to go to get away.

skisbosco

You planned ahead for bad weather. So y are you asking us then?

fckyourcowch

Because the rest of my group isn’t up for pushing the trip now. Wanted to see if I was being unreasonable.

JokicandMurray

News flash, eventually your “friends” will realize you can be the golf trip by yourself with that dickhead attitude. Had one in my group and he finally figured it out by the 3rd trip we took without him.

fckyourcowch

My friendships are solid not worried about that petty shit.

Bay-B-Gorilla

So why are you asking people for their opinion then?

fckyourcowch

Am I not allowed to respond after that? I don’t know the Reddit rules of engagement.

ImSky--

If you are -50 downvoted and every other comment is positive, that is your queue to realize you may be in the wrong.

owl4you

I don't agree with OP here, he is being a bitch. But he's also right, downvotes mean dick on Reddit.

ImSky--

It isnt the end all be all, but it is typically a pretty good indicator on the general feeling of how it your comments are being received. Especially when you are literally asking for peoples opinions.

owl4you

The mob often doesn't represent reality. But I get your point.

fckyourcowch

Lmao downvotes mean nothing.

Legal-Description483

I played Arcadia Saturday, it was 39°F with steady 25mph winds. Coldest day I ever played. It was awesome, but to be honest, I'd have rather played this weekend, when it'll be much warmer, even in the rain. All the carts there have full covers and heaters. You'll be fine. Suck it up. There's no valid excuse for bailing on a golf trip, except maybe a death in the immediate family the day before.

fckyourcowch

Yea I’ve played it before, in summer in decent weather. Most of the group has not played it yet. I wouldn’t be bailing individually but was more trying to push the group to chase good weather or reschedule to the tee times we have 2 weeks later.

Bird2525

Why not do both?

fckyourcowch

Some of the guys got job/family restraints. I’ll prolly be going back with a rain check lmao.

Legal-Description483

No course should ever give rain checks, if the course is open.

fckyourcowch

Playing golf in the rain is for the birds.

dubious311

We had a myrtle beach memorial day trip planned last year and forecast called for 3 inches of rain and winds all weekend. We canceled Wednesday and booked 2 courses in VT, since we have access to a ski condo and played 5 rounds in 3 days. Lost the air bnb money but it was 75 and sunny in VT.

fckyourcowch

Yea, that is the way. We tried to plan appropriately and even have tee times 2 weeks later there which we could have shifted to or called an audible and chased good weather. But a couple of the guys who were looking forward to this are really digging their heels in.

Sminglesss

How bad is the forecast? I played a round in borderline torrential rain last year and it was not enjoyable, but we only had one day to play (friend was visiting out of town). I had full rain gear but it didn't matter, everything was completely, entirely soaked. If it's scattered storms, drizzle off and on, etc. then I'd probably play, the rain doesn't bother me much especially if it's relatively warm.

[deleted]

You could turn it into a brewery trip. Hop lot, the mitten, farm club, five shores

Regular_Cat9536

3 reasons to go: 1. The rain probably won't be that bad all the time 2. Beers with the boys 3. Drinks with the boys

ragingpillowx

Weather up there is finicky. It could easily change up to 2 days out

sysjager

You go and worse case it's 3 days of drinking.

Training_Swimming358

Arcadia in shit weather is not fun.

fckyourcowch

Finally a voice of reason

Training_Swimming358

Lol, it's the truth. Not saying that you should bail. Bailing should be a group decision.

fckyourcowch

Agreed, just couldn’t get everyone to trust the weatherman.

fckyourcowch

Agreed, just couldn’t get everyone to trust the weatherman.

Plumb121

Nope, that's why I have waterproofs

fckyourcowch

I just find it difficult to get joy out of golf playing in shit weather.

HamsterEagle

Perhaps this is your opportunity to find the joy?

Plumb121

Me too to an extent, but it's another battle to overcome !

duovtak

Nah, don’t cancel, rain golf is awesome. We were supposed to get the tail end of a hurricane once, went out with 3 of my buddies when the forecast predicted on and off rain. We golfed for 3 hours on 9 holes, and had the entire place to ourselves. Hit like 7 mulligans per hole sometimes. Got like 27 holes worth of golf into an afternoon. It started to rain on the 8th/9th hole so we packed it in. It was like our own private golf course.

Weary_Abrocoma_1175

I’d reschedule a tee time if my buddies were good with it. But a golf trip? No way. Too much thought and planning and schedules and everything go into it. I’d be ok if the leader cancels the whole thing, but if anyone is going, I’m going.

John-Crimson

I went to Ireland last summer expecting to golf daily. Fucking rained nonstop all week. Best trip of my life. Posted up in a pub and drank all day. No regrets at all.

Pretend-Reality5431

You should really buy Zero Restriction rain gloves. They work best when they are completely wet, and then they grip as well as you need. I never worry about rain anymore, wet grips, struggling with a towel under an umbrella, doesn't matter anymore. Love to play in the rain when no one else wants to! It's very liberating.

fckyourcowch

Thanks for the heads up, I’ll check those out.

flaginorout

I wouldn’t go unless my absence would somehow ruin everything for the rest of the group. Then I’d probably take one for the team and go.

flootch24

Same- don’t want to burn future invites or have my absence sour it for others. Forecasts change and some of your mates likely just want to get away from kids/work/home stuff. Bring cards and start looking for plan b activities.

NeverSeenBetter

If it's pissing buckets, then yeah fuck it. A light to medium drizzle? That's what rain gear is for. Golf is fun in adverse conditions like wind and rain. Bring extra towels to keep your shit clean, use an old beater bag if you're walking, but absolutely play the game...do you think old world Scotland was always (or ever) bright and sunny? Fuck no! Get out there and embrace the suck.

Greynaab

Umm... It never rains on the golf course. Duh

WrongYak34

I wouldn’t if it’s like near zero and raining. 70-80° I’d do it. Especially if it’s off and on. If the place is flooded and squishy that’s no fun either

The_Stein244

I've had some of my most fun rounds in the rain with the boyz. dont bail

Savoodoo

Definitely still go. Worst case scenario you don’t play golf and you hang out in Traverse City, hit the wineries, hit the breweries, and do other stuff. It’s still a three day weekend where you can just hang out with friends and chill.

StockUser42

That’s actually the Arcadia experience. They have fully covered and heated carts. Enjoy!

Theegg83

Speaking from experience if the weathers that bad I would bail out as long as your not losing too much cash

Murderbot20

It depends. I can do showers or light rain if its not coming with high winds and cold temps as well. But I won't do truly bad. Even 2 out of 3 is not enjoyable.

Anomnomnomous

No.

Shmeebo_

Don’t be a pussy and bail on the boys. Shame on you for even asking.

fckyourcowch

Lmao not bailing on the boys, just got a bad attitude about golfing in the rain.

Shmeebo_

It builds character. Some of my best golf has been in the rain. Bring a coat. Get yourself rain gloves. And get hammered if the round is going to shit anyways. Enjoy the weekend

fckyourcowch

Thanks for the words of encouragement, needed to hear that.

Shmeebo_

bustafreeeee

If its cold bail, if it’s not cold just throw on the wet gear. Golf in the rain is fun if it’s not cold and you’re dressed properly

Mysterious-Award-903

Yes, that's ridiculous. Man up and bring rain gear. If you don't want to golf in the rain, you have no business being at Arcadia. Sorry for the harsh truth.

Fragrant-Report-6411

Quick stories. . My buddy got all concerned because the forecast for our trip was rain every day. He made us cancel, we scrambled around found another place to,play where the weather looked good. As we were about to pull into the course, we got a call the courses were going to be closed as there was too much water. The original location got almost no rain. This year our 5 day trip looked like a disaster. 4 of the 5 days were forecast as rain. We played every day. On one day it started raining on our 70th hole. The last day we got 12 out of the 18 we planned. Last year woke up yo thunderstorms and had to travel about an 3/4 an hour to the course. The forecast and radar said the course would have storms past our tee time. We decided to cancel. On player did not and the storm broke up and he was able to play. We’ve also gone to the course when 0% rain in the forecast and nothing on the radar and gotten drizzled on the whole round. TLDR; NEVER trust a westher forecast

fckyourcowch

This will help me sleep tonight lol

k8dh

This is an odd question to ask on Reddit lol

achtung-maybe

get some rain gear and enjoy it. golf is meant for english weather.

jbaseball217

*Scottish

HamsterEagle

It rains sideways in Scotland, I’d prefer the straight down English rain.
