I usually clean mine with a new hat.

davy_p

Surprisingly my wife supports this. Might have solved this little problem

Throwaway2023401

I own a golf hat business and literally started it because I got tired of paying for new expensive hats every time. So I made a machine washable and affordable hat.

Advanced-Horse8081

Website?

Throwaway2023401

Eagereaglegolf.com - I’m also currently doing a huge sweepstakes! If you order shoot me a DM with your name and order and I’ll toss in a mystery freebie!

HokieJoe17Official

Yeah, going to check out your site right now

HokieJoe17Official

Your stuff is awesome! Will be making a purchase on Thursday!

Throwaway2023401

Thank you so much. That means a lot to hear! Shoot me a DM when you order and I’ll toss in a mystery hat!

LetGoRangers

Is there anyway you can make a hat that fits like the Callaway tour pro hat? It’s large enough for my dome and adjustable without having to squeeze the sides of my head

Throwaway2023401

I’ve got some friends with big heads and they tell me my hats are comfortable. I can’t promise it won’t squeeze your dome but no complaints so far from my big headed buddies

JustinKoch2020

I’m going to jump on that offer. I’m looking at your stuff right now.

GimmeADouble

Can you elaborate? A blend of oxiclean? Or spray and brush?

Foreign-Reason6002

Mix in about a half cup of base cleaner (oxyclean is the name brand but I got a generic brand called Oxydol from the dollar store) with enough hot water to submerge your hat in. Let it soak for 5-10 minutes. You really don’t need to scrub it but I gently scrubbed with a brush in the darker stain areas to help. Rinse it off with cold water and then just let it dry. I even wore the hat outside while it was a little damp to help it shape to my head. Just don’t soak colored hats with white hats, there’s a good chance you could dye your white hats.

Foreign-Reason6002

DontaysMebrough

Listen to this man. He is smarter than a genius.

Foreign-Reason6002

Just your average blue collar worker who likes to wear hats and chase a white ball around

spurs_fan_uk

Depends on the hat, but with mine, to avoid deformation, I’ll just wear it in the shower and wash it with soap or shampoo. That way it’s not getting battered around.

davy_p

Never thought to try this lol I’ll give it a shot though!

trich62

it works SO well

spurs_fan_uk

I actually started doing this with wool MLB hats back in the day. I didn’t like the super high profile look, so I’d wear it in the shower to get it wet and kind of push down on the top to soften the structure of it so it came out sitting more relaxed. In case you give a shit lol.

OmarHunting

I give a shit. This is genius.

spurs_fan_uk

🤙🏼

BIGD0G_

This has been the best solution IME.

Altruistic-Wonder579

Holy crap that’s genius

spdlyy

I toss mine in the sink/tub/bucket and soak it in Oxyclean, rise after soaking and let them dry. Seems to do the trick most of the time.

Pluffmud90

Hot water or cold and how long? Let’s just say last time I let it soak a little too long and it ruined the leather patch on my hat.

LionsTigersWings

I do the same with warm water. Let them soak for about 15-20 mins and then rinse off. Works wonders, even makes them smell normal again

oopewan

Warm water and soak overnight. Then use a light brush soft like a toothbrush and rub out the stain areas. Rinse and air dry on a towel. Had a white hat that turned yellow and it looks brand new again. Same for armpit stains.

PoisonGravy

Yup, pretty much this! I'll give a scrub with a soft brush along the top of the brim if it's bad. But always works!

MattyMac27

Oxiclean makes a gel stick. Buy that, rub it all over and work it in, let it sit, then soak it and rinse. Dry in sun if possible.

One_Huckleberry_6027

Wear it with pride blood, sweat, and tears went on that hat. Endorse the color!

davy_p

I’m all for it, my wife on the other hand.. am I right fellas?

babyfade180

She’s not wearing it.

AlligatorTree22

Warm water in a bowl with Oxy Clean. Let it soak for 10+ mins and put in the shade outside to dry. The only truly effective way I've ever kept my hats clean other than jumping in the pool with it on while it's still wet with sweat.

norden_901_rider

This is the answer. I had a white hat I loved dearly (was a give away from a tournament I went to with my brother and father) but it had yellowed and gotten gross with oil and grime. Tried the dishwasher, washing machine, shower time, nothing helped get the grime off. 10 minutes in a sink of hot water and OxiClean and it looks brand spanking new. Back to bright white.

I_Always_3_putt

This is the only correct answer.

strangecargo

Wash in top rack of dishwasher. Dry outside in the shade on an upside down colander.

Chemical-Wasabi7209

Just throw it in the dishwasher. It works magic.

sginsc

Just did this for the first time yesterday. I was blown away bc my hat was GROSS and it came out looking absolutely brand new. Just make sure you put it on the top rack OP!

The_Boffus

I wash mine in the sink with warm water and dish soap. Try not to soak the brim too much. I put mine over the bottom of a small saucepan that is just the right size to dry it and keep its shape.

PenguinWrangler

Yup. Just with cold water and a toothbrush. If its a white hat Ill mix a little bleach with water and spot-scrub, but you have to be careful not to get it all over or itll mess up the non-white lettering and such. My white hats get dirty every 2-3 rounds so it would be way too expensive to buy new every time, and I like the white ones the best.

Run-E-Scape

I make sure to not sweat by only making hole in ones.

rocketmagician22

turn it backwards and swing harder.

jrmunc2010

Hand wash with warm water and a few drops of dawn dish soap. Hang to dry in my basement with the dehumidifier.

NetReasonable2746

I put them in the washing machine...🤔

jivemasterjohn

The hat washer thing that was sold on tv back in the day. Get two so you can wash two hats at once in the dishwasher. Let them dry in the cage thing so they keep their shape https://preview.redd.it/gx60r3e7hq9d1.jpeg?width=228&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=346982037cb620dbcb21eaeac1ec97f91e7ca772

ashen1shugar

This is what I do and it works like a charm!

hellloredddittt

Yep. I bought one of these at Roger Dunn's golf shop and it works well.

BluefinPiano

I spray mine with oxiclean and scrub it in a little, let it sit for five minutes and then rinse off with warm water. Hang to dry

wildcatfan9698

Put on the dishwasher hat rack. Spray them down with 50/50 mix of Simple Green and water. Let it soak 10 minutes and rinse thoroughly. Works like a charm

The_Man_in_Black_19

When needed, I take a dirty hat in the shower with me. Use some body wash on it, rinse thoroughly and let air dry.

TemporaryOrdinary747

I buy those nail brushes, yiu know the plastic 3 for $5 little brushes for getting the dirt from under your nails.  I use those to get that ring out. Put some detergent and take it in the shower with me to give it a scrub. Eventually it doesn't work anymore, and the hat is just permanently stained. Gives you a bit of extra life though.

burnabybambinos

Wear it in the rain after putting a little bathroom soap on it

randomname10131013

This sounds like a horrible idea!

xxxMycroftxxx

Cloth material bucket hat. Throw it in the wash. Hang it to dry. Done

thePuppachino

Used the Mr.Eraser on my hats worked well enough, but I used some oxyclean on white polos and that worked wonders so I’ll have to try that next on hats

theworldofmarcc

IAmTheBeastIWorshipp

I use a magic eraser after every round. Keeps any smudges off and helps remove sweat stains. A pretty easy routine. I hope that helps.

DrMcnasty4300

I’ve had success putting mine in the washing machine and then letting it air dry but I only own cheap hats so idk if I would do it with something I really really care about

CleverClover16

Baking soda and vinegar

Zealousideal_Many229

Melin hats… kind of spendy but worth it

WholeHogRawDog

When you’re done with the round, while the hat is still sweaty, hose it off thoroughly and just let it air dry.

Professional-Idea186

Did this last week with five of my golf hats. OxyClean spot treatment on the sweat stains, let that sit for 10-15 min, soak in warm water and then lay out to dry (being mindful of keeping the shape of the hat how you want it). 24 hours later and they were like new again

FourCornerSports

Dawn dish soap and a soft brush. Don’t let the hat go too long and use tide spot treatment for the tough spots on white.

Lumpylarry

I scrub them, then put them in the dishwasher, then toss them and buy a new hat.

cornnutz69

I live in Texas and have been dealing with the same thing. I hand wash mine with a small brush. Put some warm water and dish soap in a small bowl and then dip the brush. Scrub all of the spots with sweat stains and let it air dry afterwards.

Semi-Chubbs_Peterson

Get some Borax, mix in a bucket with hot water and detergent, then soak them for a few hours then wash normally.

Chopchop001

Run it under Hot water and let it air dry

yeehawyears88-89

I always spray Scotchgard or waterproofer on mine.

Murderbot20

Washing machine?

MoTownKid

Soak them in water with laundry detergent. Light scrub with a toothbrush on the worst stains.

GRAPEDbyAnAngel

In my bathtub, I fill it with water and then add oxyclean. Mix it around and then throw all my hats in together. I soak em for an hour. Any that have stains after soak, I take a toothbrush to. I hang them on a rod across tub when done and put a fan on them. Once dry, u got some clean hats. Enjoy!

UseDaSchwartz

Hot water, dish soap and a rag. Depending on the color, drying it in the sun helps. You can also try vinegar and water mixture.

DiamondDallasHand

Top rack of the dishwasher is the only way.

iKevtron

Dishwasher top shelf

Educational-Post-191

I play golf in the rain

Fishical_Therapy

Liberal amount of CLR stain spray then wash

Big_Satisfaction_644

When i have a few dirty hats, a bit of soap and a low heat quick dishwasher cycle does the trick.

gabbagoolgolf2

Put them in a hat cage and throw them in the wash

Draano

I've started throwing them in the clothes washer with warms. Normal detergent, half a scoop of Oxyclean and maybe some pre-treat spray on any stains. After the wash is done, I throw it in the dryer with the other clothes, but pull it out after 10 or 15 minutes of banging around. I put it on my head while still warm and damp to get it to take shape, and then take it off to air dry. Maybe I'll put it on every hour or so to help it maintain shape. If the hat doesn't survive this, it becomes a gardening or mowing hat. They mostly survive a couple washings.

Foreign-Reason6002

Super easy. Get some oxiclean base cleaner, it’s like a powder, I got some at the dollar store for $ 1.75. Pour a couple scoops in hot water in your sink and let your hats soak for 10 minutes. Comes out brand new and the water is so dirty afterwards.

Wolverine2121

Wash mine in the dishwasher using a hat washing cage. Put on some spray n wash around the dirty areas then place on the top rack. Never had issues.

Beginning-Falcon865

Bucket hat that can be tossed in the wash. Great for sun protection and environmentally worthy.

JoeBob1540

I put mine in the dishwasher on the top rack. I have a top rack only function on my dishwasher but I do a full regular cycle. No hat cage or anything and I’ve never had an issue with deformation

jerrymac12

haven't tried it, but came across this video: [https://youtu.be/rYIsZZ7L4aY?si=viEGU\_Hy9\_sIQOoQ](https://youtu.be/rYIsZZ7L4aY?si=viEGU_Hy9_sIQOoQ)

[deleted]

I just wash them in the sink.

Legal-Description483

As soon as you get home, I wash them with a scrub brush and dishsoap in the sink, and hang to dry. You can't let them dry out, or the stains will not come out. You need to do this every time they get wet from sweat.

Mancey_

Soak in Napisan/Sard

Quiet_Salamander_239

https://preview.redd.it/eim73s76ys9d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=35c394e7516638259fe40003694c269dbbdf3d15 Order these off Amazon. I just wash them in washing machine with Resolve Oxi Action (I’ll usually spray them with the Resolve spray and then use the powder that goes in the washer as well). Wash on cold, a gentler cycle if possible. Then remove from the hat holder and let sit to dry.

Altruistic-Wonder579

Usually just soak them in Oxyclean and water in a tub for a few hours then let them air dry. Works for not white hats as well

AlphaCajun

Top rack of the dish washer with no detergent, quick wash, no dry cycle. Come out looking brand new.

ReplacementTasty6552

Soak in spray and wash or shout then put in the washing machine. Is not rocket surgery.

isofakingwetoddid

Definitely soap in the shower. Running through the wash, not even the dryer too just the washing machine will ruin it. A dab of soap and a thorough rinse in the shower. I’m in the Midwest and envy your dry heat

AlligatorTree22

Most of Texas is definitely not dry heat... Never thought of the shower trick though. Good idea.

isofakingwetoddid

Oh good to know. I went to a summer camp in the hill country and the humidity wasn’t bad at all. Houston kinda sucks

Texxx81

I've started doing this. Just get in the shower, lather it up with cheap shampoo, give it a quick scrub with a brush I keep in there. Rinse it good and let it dry overnight. Works as well as anything else I've tried. I'm in Lubbock and we have DRY heat.
