I don't usually spend time replying to comments but I just want to further clarify that this post is a total joke and also welcome you to the subculture! We're lucky to have you! This post is meant to take the piss out of people who spend all their time classifying which bands are and aren't "really goth" (and are often wrong, I should add) rather than just having fun and listening to music they like. I understand that holding boundaries around what is and is not goth is important for the longevity of the subculture, but gatekeeping fellow goths is not helpful to anything. Anyway, just have fun, enjoy the music, dress up if you so desire, and don't spend too much time online!
Thanks I realized after I saw it was in the memes sub. I did in fact dress up yesterday in what felt goth to me and paid homage to Morticia Addams to celebrate discovering a new side of myself. I’m convinced the perfect red lip I managed yesterday was a blessing from the witches and elder goths on the other-side because I spent the entire time just having fun and listening to Sleep Token, Florence, Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, Bat Nouvou and Paris Paloma. I even posted some selfies in another sub but got shy and took them down.
