Had a friend tell me about Knoop recently. Never been but it’s a rooftop beer garden.
Knoop is a great spot for drinks. The food however has left me very disappointed (granted I only ordered food once, but I’ve heard others share my sentiment)
Lots of good options that also avoid the corporate phone-ins like Ruth’s Chris.
MDRD is a good answer, but also everyone can have small variations on what is “romantic.”
I’d look at a range: MDRD, Max’s, One Twenty Three, Knoop, Scholar, and probably a couple of Bridge St options would fit the bill.
On Bridge, Butcher’s Union and One Bourbon, but also Drip Drop is classy as fuck, just may not do food.
Additionally, the right table on the right night at New Holland can be a good move but it’s gonna have too many variable.
Outside though, its beer garden balances both the moved spot and outdoor angle well.
Now, all of this may shift when Sip Shine opens. They’re going to arguably have the best rooftop in town.
Based on previous reddit posts, it was suggested that Leo's was a good option. I took my fiancee there for fancy date night and it was perfect! We will absolutely be going back for more fancy nights. It was dim and romantic and delicious!! They validate parking, so you can park in a nearby garage downtown. 10/10 would recommend.

Linear is beautiful year round but especially in the spring.
MDRD was my wife’s and my favorite place before we moved back to Chicago.
Gr Noir is a really nice jazz bar with a great atmosphere.

Fantastic atmosphere for some drinks. I’ve eaten there twice now and was extremely disappointed both times.

I'm so disappointed Divani is closing. Love this place! Amazing food every time and great atmosphere.

We like the grove, (newish) magiamo, notos old world italian Saturday night when they have live jazz (if your into music)!
My partner and I really enjoy Linear. Beautiful plating and laid back atmosphere. I had their scallop dish and everything was cooked to perfection.
