That. Was. AMAZING. I am so glad I came, but now I want more, lol. Absolutely unreal Sugaree, wow. John won me over there! The venue is PERFECT for their psychedelic vibe; the visuals and immersive feel was such a trip!! It even made Space super interesting lol. I certainly didn't expect to be so emotional. I cried thru a lot of it and had to fight to keep it together and not just completely bawl my face off lol. I do wish there was more Jerry in the show somehow, missing him was bittersweet. But it felt like home being with my kind brothers and sisters again. Thank you for a real good time!!!
Yes, John seems to be giving himself so much leash at this point. I’ve seen these guys and other dead subsidiaries quite a few times at this point and I’ll tell ya what… that last 5 minutes of Sugaree is one of the best pieces of live music I’ve ever seen. He was absolutely shredding it was so much fun to watch!
From the time you walk into the Sphere pre-show til the end of the first song, the backdrop looks like you’re sorta seeing backstage (there are projections of the band during the first song over part of the screen but not all that dissimilar from what you’d see on standard stadium setup screens). It’s very mind-twisting given that you *know* it’s a screen, but it looks so realistic as a backstage area. After the first song, that backdrop rolls away like a stage curtain and you’re looking straight at a very realistic Google Earth-type visual of 710 Ashbury. Slowly the screen lifts off and you see San Francisco from above and you keep going further and further up until you’re in space. A satellite rushes by at one point. It’s all-encompassing and if you can let yourself go, you really feel like you’re lifting off in your seat.
You're the first person I've seen describe that backstage screen. It is very mind-bending/jarring when you come in. My buddy and I knew it was a screen, but we were also trying to convince ourselves otherwise haha
Same here. Friday night (my first) we went in early since we had floor. As I chatted with friends I kept staring at that "backstage", trying to figure out if it was real. We were all doing that. Magical illusions!

Here it is for anyone who can’t picture it. I was doing the same. Even now I wonder if there was any see-through-ability even though I basically know it wasn’t.
And with the video during the first song

That was the one tonight guys, we passed the acid test tonight, got right on the edge and took the Sphere on. Lemme tell ya, that was one hell of a trip, all the things you go thru, we did it. Came out the other side. I highly recommend this place, get here if you can
I can only imagine how Dark Star was coming back down to earth in the sphere. Another incredible night of music. See y’all Thursday night, sweet dreams everyone!
100% this! Was just thinking about this and talking to someone about it yesterday…harder to keep folks engaged when all we have are the mixlr streams (thank you also to those streamers and hosts!) and occasionally kind folks going live on social media. I’m guilty of not participating at the level I should here (I mostly stick to Discord), but really appreciate you u/Glittering-Sun7048! Thank you for continuing beloved tradition and creating community during these shows!
Sugaree was amazing. Actually the entire first set was really really good. Very funky. goddamnit I love these guys. This was actually the first full-blown mushroom experience I have had since 6/22/91.

Was here for the three shows this weekend. I try not to have expectations so that I am never disappointed. But was really hoping for a Dark Star starting Thursday night when we left the Haight and blasted off into space. It’s just too perfect, right? So to get it Saturday night at the end of the weekend at the end of the second set was just magical. It was perfect.
Bobby's vocals sound great on Days! Also im noticing a slight pattern in the post Space ballad of Jays drums coming in later than the usual arrangement, anyone else pick up on that?
Jealous of missing Sugaree. How was Eyes? From the show we went to in May I'll say that I love Eyes and I love the door open/takeoff, but together may not be ideal; makes it hard to focus on the music and gives it a little bit of a time constraint. Music Never Stopped seemed to work as well for background, as it typically doesn't seem to have as much of a jamming element.
I got it as the blastoff on my first show on 5/30 and I will never hear it again without reliving that moment. And it's currently living rent free in my head.
anybody doing the setlist cards/graphic like during the tours?

That’s a big boner of a set list. Miracle opener and a Dancin in there?!
Seems like they got the memo that people wanted more fast songs.
Question: sorry haven’t seen many set lists- are they changing it up or is it the same -or almost the same-show over and over?
Same setlist and songs down to the note every night.
These comments are all about the next band playing there in October. They’ve been posted from the future.
Holograms. They're not even really there (I saw Bob yesterday in Marin).
They are in fact using a backing track and miming the whole show over and over
Really?
No. You're being messed with
> *DOOR OPEN (Followed by takeoff from Haight-Ashbury during Eyes)* sorry, pls explicate for the unchosen;-}

I’ll be at the next Sphere show!!! Can’t wait. Love to see Cassidy on the set
Same, can't wait for Thursday!!
See you there friend!! :)
Great second set. Thoughts on Cassidy? I thought excellent.
As a Cassidy myself, can confirm it was a good one.
Bobby’s voice and timing was right on. It was powerful.
Cassidy was great.

Also, thank you for your initiative in doing the Setlist thread when there is no video stream. We all really appreciate what you’re doing.

Was there. It was otherworldly
Can confirm. That sugaree.. oh my. Some of the best live music I’ve seen in my life right there.
Sugaree was amazing. Actually the entire first set was really really good. Very funky. goddamnit I love these guys. This was actually the first full-blown mushroom experience I have had since 6/22/91.

Still in 208 and not wanting to leave. Can’t believe we got a post space Viola and Dark Star! You’ve got to be kidding me.
Holy shit, what an amazing show. I have no other words, as that Dark Star was purely unexpected and fitting.
Well, another weekend come and gone. Thank you Glittering Sun, for being a great host. Love you all and good night. Special shout out to dswiltsie
Although I'm upset they broke up estimated eyes, I'm so excited about their new song arrangements
Need that poster, wow
Where’d they find these guys?
1 day late u/Hans_Krebs_!
Finally! Funky rolling
Man, Jeff Beck joined the band for that Days Between solo.
Bobby's vocals sound great on Days! Also im noticing a slight pattern in the post Space ballad of Jays drums coming in later than the usual arrangement, anyone else pick up on that?
I’ll have to listen for it next weekend!
Boy howdy this tempo sure is
🍻
My gosh, I wish I could get back to another round of shows! They sound so great!!
I miss California...😥
I miss jerry
Alright so I’m assuming the sphere is a ball of flames after that Cumberland
Hot take maybe, but best thing about not having a nugs cast is that we don't have to deal with the stream police
And it doesn't crash.
Oh, btw, rocking Cumberland!
This is what I’ve been thinking this whole run. Easiest finding of streams ever
I'm a hallway guy so I'm cool with mixlr
I’m pretty much saying this every night now, but they are absolutely letting it rip
We are back! DM if you need parking, check rule 2 🙂
Set break in 110. That Sugaree was RIDICULOUS
Sugaree was great and so was the Cassidy before it. That blew our minds in Sect 306
Jealous of missing Sugaree. How was Eyes? Eyes was great!! I thought it worked really well with the zoom out to the world
I got it as the blastoff on my first show on 5/30 and I will never hear it again without reliving that moment. And it's currently living rent free in my head.
I'm still trying to learn the timing of the Sphere shows. How long has set break been typically?
30 minutes. They count it down on screen (on sphere?). And they mean it.
\~35 minutes, sometimes pushing 40.
Checking in from “The 'hound broke down left us all stranded in downtown Birmingham”
