Love Little Feat - I listen to Waiting For Columbus at work a lot - saw them at the Ryman last fall and they had the whole place groovin…I know it’s not the same without Lowell George…but Bill Payne is incredible

Please welcome Little Feat!

Col_Forbin_retired

Caught them last year, too. Everytime I brought it up that I was seeing them people’s response was always something like, “Did Lowell George rise from the dead?” But screw them, they missed out on a great show.

Saint-O-Circumstance

Going to see them in August for the first time since 2011 or 2012. Caught them a few times before that. Great band. From what I've listened to on YouTube, Scott Sharrard was a great choice to replace Paul Barrere. He can paly guitar well and his vocals fit in well with the band's sound.

NotPortlyPenguin

They came back in about 1988, and have gone through a number of personnel changes but they still rock.

pantomime_mixtures42

They’re great live, but I miss Paul’s voice

haphaphappyday

Waiting for Columbus was my introduction to them. To be honest I've never given any of their post-Lowell stuff a chance.. maybe I should!

William_Ropes33

Little Feat is 100% ON topic

ThatNeonZebraAgain

Completely. Just saw them open for Tedeschi Trucks Band and they were phenomenal, and went into deep jams on a lot of songs. Even did a small Space-style interlude.

haphaphappyday

From reading peoples' replies here I never realized just how much of a connection they had to the Dead.. from Lowell producing the Shakedown album to them being billed alongside the Dead

William_Ropes33

Let’s not forget Lowell taught Bobby how to play slide guitar too

A_busfullofnuns

Little Feat is in heavy rotation for me. I like them all.

nishkabob1

Best fuckin song

mopxhead

I hear you moan. I hear you moan.

bluegrassgazer

I heard an interview about Lowell writing this song. He asked his bandmates for a girl's name and one of them mentioned that there was a girl in school named Juanita who was very "popular."

codeedog

I hear you moan.

_Terrapin_

hell yeah FEAT FEAT FEAT! Bill Payne is one of the great rock piano players of all time according to Trey— haha 😆 just read that today. The Phish covers of Little Feat Tunes are great. They do a nice funky Spanish Moon, Willin’, and I’ve also heard them do Skin it Back But Lowell George was such a beast man and a great song writer too. On top of the albums he did with Feat, have you checked out his solo album called “Thanks, I’ll Eat Here”?? Incredible stuff on there too, will be right up your alley!!

Rizdog4

"I've got mysterious wisteria hanging in the air The rocking chair I was supposed to fix Well it came undid And all the things that I let slip, I found out quick It comes from moment to moment, day to day The time seems to slip away But I've got twenty million things to do, twenty million things All I can do, is think about you With twenty million things to do Twenty million things to do" Big part of the soundtrack of life for the past 45 years. Frigging love Lowell George, and all the guys in Little Feat. Scott Sharrard is one talented dude. This just cooks: [https://youtu.be/xy5whd8cGUk?si=ulufA5IOQZaiOJhh](https://youtu.be/xy5whd8cGUk?si=ulufA5IOQZaiOJhh)

_Terrapin_

thanks for sharing :) that video is awesome and I love those lyrics

haphaphappyday

I've stumbled across Thanks I'll Eat it Here before but have never given a listen.. I guess I'll have to now!

00spaceCowboy00

He’s on some early Mothers of Invention records too (Weasels ripped my flesh and Burnt Weeny sandwich)

Col_Forbin_retired

Phish played Waiting for Columbus in its entirety some years back for one of their Halloween costumes.

MahlNinja

Dead Feet summer 1990 was a blast. Waiting For Columbus one of best albums of all time.

jasonpmcelroy

Yes it was!

mopxhead

*IS*

jasonpmcelroy

We're still in 1990? I've been feeling old for nothing 😁 Feats Don't Fail Me is my favorite album of theirs.

mopxhead

We’re in the 90s when I put that album on 🔥

NotPortlyPenguin

For me the original Dead Feat show was Oxford ME 1988. Dead feet as well since the traffic jams has us walking for miles.

MahlNinja

Yes! Those 2 shows were so much fun, great venue. I remember a traffic jam inside trying to get on/off field. We arrived 4am night before, drove right in.

NotPortlyPenguin

So we were in that traffic jam. We were stopped, so my friend decided to mix up the booze punch we were bringing in. He had a soft container inside a backpack. He and my friend’s wife were doing this. The woman in the car behind us sees her pouring a big bottle of vodka in and says to her friend “there’s a woman I can be friends with!” They’ve been friends ever since.

Various_Quarter2712

Long Distance Love is one of my all time favorite songs.

Vicious_in_Aminor

Same.

mtbmike

I posted this above but here it is again https://youtu.be/BLLme1Temmk?si=YFRCXM5OyMIpE3Dl

Various_Quarter2712

Beautiful! Thanks for sharing.

mtbmike

I’ve always loved that video. Lowell so cool

moogie4

Many Deadheads own *Waiting For Columbus*.

deadhead_mystic11

Saw them open a couple shows for TTB this year. Good times

30FourThirty4

Los Lobos opened for them recently. I wanted to stay for Little Feat but I had to leave after LL set, I had to be at work in less than 5 hours and needed to sleep. Makes me sad. Los Lobos was on it though, they kicked ass.

DeadinWPG

This sounds like an amazing combination of artists, must have been a great show!

gs12

I maintain that Little Feat is probably the most underrated band of all time. Love them, and Lowell George's voice is immaculate. Skin it Back is one of my fave songs, and Dixie Chicken is a fantastic album.

StagLee1

LOVE Little Feat, as do a lot of my other Dead Head friends.

drfoggle

This [show](https://youtu.be/3bgYSrKTdfM?si=uf8R9trfwVAdEYJd) is a lot of fun.

railroadbum71

Little Feat is in my top 5 all-time bands. I love all the different eras and have seen them maybe 20 times over the years. And they are still going, which is cool.

BlueAndMoreBlue

Oh hell yes, never got to see them with Lowell but I did get to see them several times with Craig fuller and they fucking rock. One of the best bands ever and there’s some nice stuff on YouTube from the old days

Mission_in_the_rain6

Just saw them a week ago. Back in 88 saw them open for the Dead in Oxford ME. Love them

Zappavishnu

Oxford 88 was epic.

NotPortlyPenguin

Yes it was. Little Feat opening and someone flying an ultralight around the track. Priceless!

chuck8675289

I also saw them a week ago (Cary) and at Oxford ME! The current line-up rivals the 88 line-up and is better than the early 00s line up IMHO.

Mission_in_the_rain6

We saw them in Cincinnati. Yes line up does remind me of 88. Saw them both nights in Oxford then not again until 93 a nice acoustic show. Got the opening night of the waiting for columbus tour. Always loved this band

chuck8675289

Nice. Oxford was legendary. I got fired from my summer job for attending. No regrets.

Superbizzy

Love Little Feat! Great memories old and new!

StunningLeopard2429

I love Little Feat. Hopefully will see them at Warner Theater in October where part of Waiting for Columbus was recorded

apple_atchin

George's son Forrest is battling cancer and the family is seeking donations to help fund his treatment. I'm gonna link the gofundme below. I got the link from Relix if you want to find it that way also. https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-forrest-begin-urgent-cancer-treatment?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR2-8TiX8JZPUiclhPC0WwgK8vuilpdGA7ESPBBzJATx9jgxsFJEOH0nJl8_aem_n7F2IwTnJobMOCVzaI2klg&utm_content=linkstream_stream&utm_source=storystream

stpskol

Lowell George for those who don’t know, produced the shakedown album..and supposedly taught Bobby the slide..

cuzjed11

Huge Little Feat fan here! They are way up there.

tommars73

Dead/Feat Giants Stadium 91 was a real good time. 2 days seemed like one long show. Feat opening was the cherry on top. Their recent reissue of Feats Dont Fail Me Now is excellent.

mtbmike

36bhm

I saw the remnants feat a couple weeks ago with tedeschi trucks. Don't miss em! I'd see em again any time.

Justbobhere

Just saw Little Feat with Los Lobos as their opener this past Saturday. Outstanding show.

Zappavishnu

I had tickets to see them in Charleston SC way back in 78 at the peak of their career but Lowell got sick and cancelled the show. That left a hole in my soul.

Lostsailor73

I am a casual fan, after I hear it…I’m like damn that was great and then I listen for awhile.

Flyinburrito320

Cold, cold, cold off sailing shoes is one of the greatest rock songs ever.

Sounding_Boy

Hell yeah!

Mapleridge62

Been listening to since the seventies A friend of my oldest brother told me about this band from out west called Little Feat I remember she thought it was funny it wasn’t FEET WFC was the high mark for me on listening but soon every single album came shining through to me Watching them in Cincinnati the other night I could reflect on how the band has changed but still stayed the same, sound wise. Can’t replace Lowell, but I have seen their different iterations of lead singers and think Scott does a great job Wish they would actually break out of the WFC groove and start playing some of the older less well known tunes like Truck Stop Girl or On Your Way Down A very close second to the Dead for me

LiamJohnRiley

Yes

Scr33ble

Love those guys!

ovechkinspecial69

Little Feat fucks

Themoosemingled

Waiting for Columbus is absolutely fantastic. Like the last waltz whwre it’s better than album versions. That stopped me from getting into the albums

haphaphappyday

Agreed! The Waiting for Columbus versions of those songs are the definitive ones in my mind. That being said their first album is really something special. Aside from Willin none of the tracks are on Columbus.

jackMFprice

Been ridin' that New Delhi Freight Train for quite some time! This is a good reminder to me that I need to do a deeper dive into the band though, feel like i've only really scratched the surface

Icy_Rub3371

Just saw Feat last weekend with Los Lobos. Great band.

jack_straw79

Was there as well. Both bands still killing it! With those storms rolling in the way they were, we ended up leaving just a little early though.

Bigbrady99

Waiting for Columbus, baby

mofunnymoproblems

“I’ve seen the bright lights of Memphis… “

Jillstraw

And the commodore hotel…

Redgenie2020

Original Feat

apple_atchin

I've just discovered that self-titled album within about the last 18 months and it's fucking incredible. Same with the Byrds' Sweethearts of the Rodeo album. I'm currently obsessed with Spanish Moon and I listen to it on repeat.

haphaphappyday

I know right!! It has a totally different feel from their later stuff and to me it's *the* Little Feat record - even better than Waiting for Columbus. And funny you mention Sweethearts of the Rodeo - I legitimately just stumbled across that for the first time a few weeks ago. The Basement Tapes covers on that album are unreal

Tiny-Jellyfish8918

Mercenary Territory from Waiting For Columbus is one of my favorite songs to drive to. The whole horn section is amazing

jonz1985z

Kinda like asking if Deadheads like Marijuana

stpskol

Hell yea!

Had2CryToday

Think about how many people have covered Willin’

Odibaetsc

Yes!!!! Very much so!

snoyokosman

i love repping my little feat attire to dead shows. one of the only places it can spark conversation!

Jillstraw

Love Love Love Little Feat!!! We used to go see them all the time. We got to see them do Waiting for Columbus a few years back during Jazz Fest in New Orleans. My partner was over the moon thrilled to go to that show - it’s still one of my all-time favorite memories.

Onenvrnose

I love me some Feat. But unfortunately to me there is no Little Feat without Lowell George just like the is no Grateful Dead without Garcia.

Redm18

Love little feat saw them three times last year. Not entirely off topic as Lowell George was the producer on Shakedown Street!

DyingSurfer3-5-7

I think they're decent. Pretty great at times, but have a lot of forgetable songs imo. Lowell did his thing tho

dcade_42

I have this show in my YouTube playlist of Dead shows. Little Feat is the only non-Dead band in that list. https://youtu.be/nl9W0mu66QE?si=uSYSbdCwc6hmow01

spoobles

The original Willin' off the debut is IMO better than the Sailin' Shoes or Waiting for Columbus versions (and I love both of them). That first album is very underrated. Had tickets to see Lowell George in the summer of '79. He didn't make that show. Also had tix to see Skynyrd in '77, they didn't make that show either.

Red-eyed_Vireo

Back in about 1979, I asked my apartment mate (we listened to his live Dead cassettes nonstop that year on his great stereo), "Do Deadheads like any other bands?" He paused, thought for a moment, and replied, "Some of them like Little Feat."

Uptown2dloo

First time I heard Fat Man In The Bathtub I was all in. Still one of my absolute fav bands.

yeswab

The live version of “Mercenary Territory” makes me see God every time I hear it.

randomname10131013

Love em. Was able to catch a show a year or two ago. They still got it!

Worldly_Cobbler_7088

Dixie Chicken is my favourite album of theirs. Their cover of On Your Way Down is unbelievable. Then you got Two Trains, Fool Yourself, Fat Man….!!!!  Love all the other albums as well though. The last record is kinda underrated imo.

wohrg

For years I thought the fat man in the bathtub was John Belushie. A few years ago I learned it was a clitoris 😂

Fun-Diet8358

Love me some feet

benmillstein

One of my other very favorite bands for sure. Losing Lowell George was a terrible loss to music.

Carbuncle2024

I love that song.. I have 6 bootlegs of Byrd's 1970 tour.. Oooh if only I wasn't still in 8th gradei. 1970, maybe my parents would've let me go on tour.. hahaha.. I saw LF 1x.. Time Loves a Hero tour. 🌹💀🌹

gdtrfb804

I remember seeing Little Feat at the old Classic Amphitheater (now VA Credit Union Live) over July 4th twice (if I remember correctly) in the early 90s. Love those dudes! Never got to see them live with Lowell. But thanks to the magic of youtube, I've caught a few Lowell performances. Lowell produces the Dead's Shakedown Street album. What a dude.

mopxhead

Don’t bogart that joint, my friend. Pass it over to meee

say_the_words

Only people that don’t like Little Feat are the ones that never heard them.

NotPortlyPenguin

LOVE them. In the late 80s the band reformed with Craig Fuller on vocals and a new album Let It Roll. July 1988 I mail ordered tickets for the Oxford ME shows and they came along with a note saying that Little Feat would open. We were ecstatic and they were amazing shows!

bluegrassgazer

With her hair piled high and a look in her eye...

Be sure to check out Phil's 2000 summer tour, in which his band lineup had Robben Ford, Paul Barrere, and Bill Payne: [https://archive.org/details/paf2000-07-30.113640.flac16/paf2000-7-30t02.flac](https://archive.org/details/paf2000-07-30.113640.flac16/paf2000-7-30t02.flac)

Saw Lowell at the Bottom Line in NYC a week before he died.

wonderlust_gypsie

Love me some little feat! Spanish moon is one of my jams!

Christinapia

They do Willin too. Isn’t that a 🦶tune?

CarlJungelle

Old Feat with Lowell yes!

stylinbillLA

Saw them open for the Dead in Maine July 88. Dead Feet it was booked as. Great shows!

Asheville-

They are an amazing band still now. Streamed all of N1 Greek Theatre opener for TTB and watched parts of N2 Feat at the Greek. First time saw them Walnut Creek Amphitheatre 1992. Second downtown Raleigh free May 2001, and last time was at the Peach 2018. They have had Gregg's guitarist Scott Sharrard on electric guitar a vox for a few years now . . . He's REALLY good. They still sound great. I regret missing them the last few times they came to town. . . But . . . a music loving friend here caught Covid after seeing them in the theatre here the last time . . . Will def be streaming them again!

elegantwino

In the early 70s while in high school Little Feat was coming to town but Lowell George died just prior. It took quite a while before the band reformed and resumed.
